MLC Partners are recruiting for a proactive and forward-thinking Finance Administrator on a permanent, part-time basis (3days/week), to join a newly created Finance and Operations team within a Charity based in central London.

This opportunity requires an experienced Finance Administrator with experience within the Charity sector, and a strong knowledge of all areas of accounts.

Key responsibilities:

• Producing management accounts and financial reports for Senior Management and the board
• Process all transactions, payment runs, post monthly journals and reconcile balance sheet monthly
• Support in preparation of the annual audit and budget
• Assist in the streamlining of the organisations finance processes and financial systems

To be successful:

• Proven experience in working within the Charity sector, specifically working with restricted funds, grants and multiple income streams

This is an exciting opportunity for a Learning & Development (L&D) professional to join our team as we implement our strategy.

The successful candidate will be part of a busy L&D team, providing functional support to help the organisation deliver its strategic aims and corporate plan.

In this role, you will develop and deliver a range of learning activities, as well as support the Business Partner in implementing key projects and learning programs. The role

This role will play a key part in the success of fundraising at The King’s Trust International, both through managing a small portfolio of both philanthropy and corporate donors and more broadly through supporting the fundraising of the wider team. This exciting and varied role will provide key stewardship, reporting and event support as needed to cultivate and progress our funding pipeline. The postholder will work collaboratively across both philanthropy and corporate teams, supporting existing activity as well as helping to establish new areas such as networks and corporate engagement products.

The King’s Trust International’s celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025 and this role will be central to the activity surrounding our celebrations including providing event support, creating engaging communications, and supporting campaign asks and prospecting across the team and senior leadership.

THE ROLE

Main Purpose

The core objectives of the post are:

· To run a skills-based pro bono corporate volunteering programme, working with corporate partners to identify opportunities with our community partners.

· To expand and develop our existing offer to corporate and community partners, engaging with our team and the wider Voluntary and Community Sector to gain a thorough understanding of the sector’s needs.

· To audit existing corporate and business relationships with the VCS and develop and identify new partnerships, through the running of a corporate advice service.

Grant Support Executive

Learning with Parents supports all families to have positive learning interactions together and leads the sector to learn what works in tackling inequality.

In partnership with 150 primary schools, we support families across the UK to enjoy learning together at home. Families are motivated to sustain and enjoy frequent and positive interactions together.

Our parental engagement journey with schools starts by focussing on reading. Our digital reading log is an inclusive way for schools and families to record reading, replacing physical reading records.

Our full Maths and English programme builds on the positive habits fostered by our reading log. It replaces traditional Maths and English homework with fun activities which have parent-child interaction at their heart. Through behavioural insight research, innovative technology and teacher training we ensure that as many families as possible are supported effectively. 

We are working to improve parental engagement across the sector, by producing evidence of parents’ impact and generating insights into how schools can best support them. Learnings are disseminated through the Parental Engagement Forum and amplified through the Fair Education Alliance.

About the Role

There are 1.4 million primary-aged children growing up in poverty in the UK, and we are currently only working with a fraction of them. We have grown rapidly over the last few years and are now looking to grow our Fundraising team to the next level.

The Fundraising and Communications Officer will work as part of the Fundraising team to deliver Learning with Parents’ fundraising strategy. Their primary focus will be strengthening our existing funding pipeline through prospects research and managing the donor database. They will also be responsible for drafting compelling applications and reports for new and existing donors. They will develop and adapt our fundraising resources and provide wider support to the team. 

The Fundraising and Communications Officer will also be responsible for managing Learning with Parents external communications, including creating and posting engaging blogs and social media posts, drafting the Annual Impact Report and managing the organisation’s brand guidelines.

Lastly, the Fundraising and Communications Officer will provide logistical support for the Parental Engagement Forum. 

Core Areas of Responsibility:

Fundraising support

• Research prospects who are a good fit for our work including corporate funders, trusts and foundations, High Net Worth Individuals and Sector Awards

• Working with our Fundraising Manager, build our funder pipeline in order to support accurate forecasting for the organisation

• Working with our Fundraising Manager, craft well-written project proposals and briefings to inspire and engage funders including corporate funders, individuals and Trusts and Foundations

• Cultivate and steward existing and new donors, helping to secure ongoing support and identify potential uplifts

• Build relationships across the Learning with Parents team to source and manage information about our work, keeping up to date with progress and impact

• Manage Learning with Parents’ reporting schedule, feeding into our draft reports as required 

• Draft and spend out engaging and impactful quarterly funder newsletters

• General support across different areas of fundraising, including but not limited to: working with the wider team to draft cases for support for new projects; keeping existing fundraising resources up to date and developing new ones as required; keeping our databases up to date; and supporting with event planning.

External communications

• Manage the charity’s social media accounts, working across the Learning with Parents teams to ensure regular and engaging content

• Make updates to the charity WordPress site 

• Write regular blogs on a range of topics connected to our work

• Format and publish the blogs on the WordPress site

• Manage our annual impact report including planning the content, coordinating with other members of the team and liaising with the graphic designer

• Manage brand guidelines, keeping them up to date with any changes to our sales & marketing strategy

• Ad hoc support creating sales & marketing materials. 

Coordinate the Parental Engagement Forum

• Send out meeting updates, reminders and follow ups

• Set up the quarterly meetings and assist the chair and speakers with logistics

• Support speakers with slide templates and any other information required

• Manage the participant list, adding and removing members as required and ensuring the links are shared at each meeting.

About you

This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience across fundraising, communications and project management at a fast-paced education-tech charity. A successful Fundraising and Communications Officer will be eager to work in a small team, enjoy creative writing, have a can-do attitude, and be keen to get stuck in to support the charity’s growth and impact.

Business Development at Refugee Council

The Refugee Council is a leading UK organisation working with people seeking asylum and refugees to enable them to live with safety, dignity and to rebuild their lives. Our operational teams are based across England providing advice and specialist support to people on issues that impact their refugee protection journey: navigating the complex asylum system; addressing homelessness and poverty; accessing health care, education, and employment.

We operate four main service departments, Resettlement, Asylum, Integration & Employment and Children’s (IUSS & Youth Development). We also have a smaller Practice Development team supporting Refugee Community Organisations and frontline practitioners to develop their skills and capacity to meet the needs of people seeking asylum and refugees. Our Business Development team also sits within our services directorate, with close working with our Fundraising and External Affairs team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Business Development Manager (Interim) is a pivotal role supporting our services to provide high quality, sustainable support with people seeking asylum and refugees. It plays an essential role to support our operational managers and working with people with lived experience of the refugee protection system to co-design their service models, and secure support for them from statutory commissioners. It is also a key partner for fundraising and communications colleagues, finance and operational colleagues to ensure that the systems needed to mobilise, develop, and sustain our services are fit for purpose.

1. Lead bid teams developing complex six and seven figure statutory bids and proposals for single entity and consortium/partnership proposal at regional and national level.
2. Lead on design of key service models as directed by Head of Business Development, to develop viable new service models, that prioritise quality, impact and sustainability, and highlight potential contractual or financial risks by working with the Head of Business Development, Service Managers and Finance colleagues.

The position:

As Social Media Coordinator, you will live and breathe all things social media, leading all activities across our Facebook, X, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, and LinkedIn, as well as keeping an eye out for opportunities elsewhere on social media. 

A social media wizard with strong working knowledge of social channels, you’ll implement a digital strategy focused on engaging and converting our community to take action for animals.

This role reports to the Digital Communications Manager.

Hours:

This is a full time position of 37.5 hours per week over Monday to Friday. 

From 1st July 2024 we are piloting a four day working week across the whole of the UK organisation. This pilot is planned to run for 12 months, at which point a decision will be made by our Board of Trustees as to whether this will become permanent. Success of the trial relies on the organisation being able to achieve the same or improved level of impact in four working days as five, with staff experiencing either the same or improved levels of wellbeing.

During the four day week pilot, working hours for this position will be reduced to 30 hours per week, to be worked across Monday to Thursday, with no reduction in salary. This will be a temporary change to the contractual terms for the successful candidate. The appointed person must be prepared to increase their working hours to 37.5 hours per week if a return to a five-day working week is decided. In the event that THL UK considers before the end of the trial period that the trial is having an adverse operational impact, we reserve the right to bring the trial to end on one month’s notice.

Who you are:

You will be passionate about The Humane League’s mission of ending the abuse of animals raised for food. With an attention to detail and strong written and verbal communications skills in English, you’ll have a keen eye for persuasive and punchy copy and an ability to adapt your tone of voice.

You will have a supporter-centric approach to communications, responding to comments and messages from a place of care and empathy. This will be paired with an ability to work with data and analytics to assess results.

You understand what audiences want to see from different channels, and how to get cut through and attention on each one. 

You are a whizz with editing tools and can create compelling, dynamic content that hooks people in and keeps them watching.

While working with autonomy is an important part of your role, strong collaboration and communication skills are paramount to your success. And, you’ll be able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ownership of our social media channels, posting content regularly that is tailored to each channel and ensuring each channel’s features are used to create the biggest impact for our supporters.

• Planning and building social media campaigns that strategically integrate goals and consider metrics.

• Updating the communications calendar.

• Create inspiring concepts and develop these into compelling, on-brand, platform-specific content using tools like Canva.

• Social media community management including moderating and responding to comments and messages.

• Regularly monitoring social trends to create topical content.

• Using tools such as Google Analytics, Facebook insights, and Sprout Social to report on post performance and monitor and evaluate success, on a monthly basis.

• Design, run, and monitor social media advertising campaigns to grow and mobilise our network.

• Keep up to date with new features and tech related to social media platforms, as well as other organisations’ activity, to ensure the most engaging and effective content.

• Encourage and assist staff members in producing social media content, supporting them with creative and technical guidance and giving feedback.

• Contribute to other communications activities such as website and PR content, as necessary.

• Attend events, protests and actions as necessary.

In addition:

• Update the wider team on social media progress and insights.

• Perform any other duties assigned by the Digital Communications Manager or Head of Communications.

• Participate in team meetings including note-taking and facilitation.

• Help us make THL UK an inclusive workplace where employees and supporters are proud to be members of the movement.

• Demonstrate commitment to creating a stronger and more effective animal protection movement through inclusion and belonging, recognising the need for all of us to do better for social justice on a personal and organisational level.

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Energy Advisor to join our team at The Carers' Centre. The successful candidate will provide essential advice and support to unpaid carers and their families struggling with fuel poverty and financial challenges, helping carers to navigate the available resources to improve their financial health. This role involves assessing clients' needs, offering practical solutions, and connecting them with relevant services to improve their energy efficiency and reduce their fuel costs.

This is a new role which will be delivering part of a national collaborative project to reduce fuel poverty for unpaid carers. This is a highly rewarding role, making a significant difference to carer's lives.

About you

We are looking for someone with proven experience in a similar advisory or support role, preferably within the energy or social care sector.

You will need a strong understanding of fuel poverty issues and available support mechanisms. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathise with and support individuals, as well as building excellent collaborations with partner organisations.

You will be comfortable with working to targets and aiming to achieve the best possible outcomes for the carers you support.

You will enjoy collaboration with a range of stakeholders, but also be able to work on your own initiative.

Although knowledge and experience in financial support/energy advice would be advantageous, full training will be provided for the right candidate who is passionate about the subject and improving the lives of unpaid carers.
