About Women in Prison
Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation. We deliver front line support to women harmed by the criminal justice system, through our work in prisons, in the community and ‘through the prison gate’ as they resettle back into their communities. We also campaign for systems change that addresses the root causes of offending, reduces the harmful impact of prison, and creates workable, community-based alternatives to imprisonment.
Job Description:
Job Purpose: Women in Prison’s Advocates deliver high-quality, trauma-informed, independent advocacy for women in communities and in prisons, which focuses on early intervention, and holistic provision as part of a ‘whole system’ multi-agency response that looks to address the root causes of women’s offending.

Our Policy and Public Affairs team exists to develop evidence-based policies that we can use to help inform and influence Government and health service decisions relating to heart and circulatory diseases and research.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Campaigns Officer to join our award winning and high impact team during a very exciting time in politics. This is a new position, which will play a critical role in the development and delivery of activity aimed at getting the public involved in our flagship Hearts Need More Westminster influencing campaign. The role will also provide campaigns support for our work to influence the Devolved Administrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland on key issues affecting heart patients in each of the four UK nations.
You’ll work closely with teams across the BHF to proactively spot opportunities to mobilise our supporters and cross-promote other BHF campaigns, including our Customer Journey and Marketing teams, and will be responsible for drafting copy in multiple formats for warm and cold audiences. You’ll also involve and engage people with lived experience in our campaigns work, working closely with our Heart Stories and Patient and Public Involvement teams.
Working arrangements
This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and one of four UK offices (Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh or London). There will be an expectation to travel to the London office (if this is not your preferred location) at least once a month, with some travel to each of the other nation offices throughout the year.
At BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day each week, on average. The use of our office spaces is driven in part by your role and the activities you need to do. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.
About you
With an interest in advocacy and political campaigning, you’ll have an understanding of the relationship between campaigning and public affairs, and the value of mobilising the public to secure policy change. You'll have experience of campaigning, either for a political party or within an in-house public affairs and campaigns team or campaigns consultancy, with experience of using a campaigning platform or CRM software.
You'll have a solid grasp of the workings of the UK and Devolved Governments and parliamentary procedures. You'll have an understanding of the role of BHF and other health and medical research charities in general, and particularly in the political arena.
With a proven ability to write clearly, concisely and persuasively, you’ll be able to draft campaign copy in a variety of formats, and especially for lay audiences. You'll also have strong organisational skills, including experience of project management. You will have experience of using social media and other comms channels for campaigning and will think creatively about how to engage our existing supporters and attract new ones. You’ll also be collaborative, with an ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external colleagues.

Training and Education Lead
We are looking for two Training and Education Leads to work for an exciting organisation, one permanent and one parental cover (6 months).

About the role:
We have two events-based roles to support our training and development courses. These courses are delivered either face-to-face or hybrid and are often delivered by a team of the organisation’s members. We use tools such as WebEx, MS Teams and Slido to support the delivery. There is an agreed schedule for the rest of 2024 for our public (open) training plus some bespoke, in-house training to be agreed upon with clients. There will also be additional in-house training to be secured for the remainder of 2024 and the first part of 2025.

After successful completion of probation, the post holder will be required to undertake a self-study Brain Tree Training Course, called Cognitive Rehabilitation for Professionals which will be paid for by Headway Surrey. Headway Surrey will provide 2 hours a week paid study time. The course should be completed within 6-12 weeks.

JOB PURPOSE:
The main purpose of the role is to:
- Be part of Senior Management Team (SMT), attending weekly SMT meetings.

Yeldall Manor is a Christian recovery centre for men wanting to overcome their addiction problems. We have created this new part-time position to provide consistent and professional HR support to the organisation, bringing together various roles currently undertaken by a few different staff members.
The role will suit someone who can work under their own initiative (after training in our charity practices), experienced in overseeing the employee journey from recruitment and retention to departure. You will act as the first point of contact for HR-related queries, and ensure that the charity is compliant with all relevant legislation. This will involve dealing with all employment matters, building robust policies & procedures, and implementation across the organisation. You would also be responsible for preparing the staff rota and all related administration. As a small charity (c. 35 staff including part-time and casual workers), the role will require balancing practical and administrative tasks with management responsibilities. We anticipate that you'll be based in the office for at least two days out of the three days/24 hours worked per week. We are now recruiting for a new role in the Resources Team, Crisis at Christmas to support with coordinating the material donations needed to set up and run Crisis at Christmas centres and services. Every year, Crisis at Christmas opens its doors to people who need our support, offering warmth, accommodation, healthcare, food, and specialist advice. Last Christmas we worked with over 6,600 people facing homelessness through our day centres and hotels in London, and Crisis Skylight centres across Britain.

Just for Kids Law (JfKL) works with and for children and young people to hold those with power to account and fight for wider reform. They do this by providing legal representation and advice, strategic litigation, campaigning, and equipping others to work for children’s rights.
They’ve achieved some incredible reforms that make a big difference to the lives of children and young people, including changes to the law on criminal records, which resulted in thousands of young people not being held back from fulfilling their potential, and ensuring that 17-year-olds are always treated as children in police custody. Job Title: Global Press & PR Manager
Reporting to: Director of Marketing & Communications

Part 1: Role Purpose:
The Global Press & PR Manager will play a vital role in growing awareness and exposure of Street Child, working with journalists, editors and media houses to build a consistent and pro-active media presence. Street Child’s Global MMC team is fully integrated into the whole organisation and our primary aim is to raise awareness of Street Child and act as a force-multiplier for fundraising efforts.
The role will explore new media relationships and re-ignite existing contacts, turbo-charging the value press and media generates for Street Child.
This is a role for a high-class media professional with a passion for our mission, great energy, imaginations and fantastic relationship building skills. This role requires an individual who will be based in our London office for a minimum of three days a week.
Tasks include delivering media coverage across global outlets, supporting the delivery of media training and briefings and the management/development of Street Child’s podcast.
Part 2: Key Responsibilities:
Delivering global media coverage (80%):
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with journalists across a range of broadcast, print and digital media outlets, looking beyond mainstream media to deliver global reach.
- Writing and publishing compelling, engaging press releases
- Manage and deliver media coverage on key campaigns and initiatives
- Support on the delivery of media briefings, including for the CEO, where required
- Lead and deliver PR campaigns, including influencer activations and activity
- Support the planning and management of overseas and UK trips for the purpose of generating coverage and content, often with journalists or high-profile supporters
- Be available for out of hours media, this will see you handling media enquiries and proactively pushing out stories at the weekend and out of hours during the week- this is crucial to communicating our rapid responses in a timely manner.
- Podcast management and development (10%)
- Develop and implement Street Child’s podcast strategy, aligning it with the broader communications and fundraising goals.
- Plan, research, and produce engaging podcast episodes, ensuring high-quality content that highlights Street Child’s programmes, impact stories, and key messages. This includes scripting, interviewing, editing, and post-production.
- Identify, reach out to, and coordinate with potential guests, including Street Child staff, beneficiaries, industry experts, and celebrity supporters. Manage these relationships to ensure a diverse and compelling line-up of interviewees.
- Monitor and analyse podcast performance metrics, listener feedback, and industry trends. Use insights to continuously improve content quality, format, and reach, ensuring the podcast remains relevant and impactful.
- Work with the wider team to develop and execute marketing and promotional plans to grow the podcast’s audience.
Strategic support (10%):
- Working closely with key stakeholders from other departments within Street Child to provide PR support, as well as developing and executing creative ways to deliver Street Child’s objectives.
- Building high profile, positive awareness of Street Child and our mission across PR; this must help to educate the public and demonstrate the scale of our impact with key external stakeholders.
- Providing PR support to key moments throughout the year, such as our “Back to School” campaign in order to achieve mass audience engagement
- Support the Director of Marketing and Comms to protect Street Child’s reputation
- Working with our programme teams to deliver stories which communicate our impact and highlight our emergency work

Experience and Knowledge:
- Experience working in a busy, high pressure Press Office, in-house or a Marketing/Press Relations agency.
