We're seeking a dynamic leader to spearhead our Macmillan Cancer Support Projects and Community Connections Lewisham Social Prescribing initiatives. This role offers a unique chance to impact vulnerable adults' lives, including those affected by cancer.

The vacancy
We are seeking to appoint 3 lay, 4 dispensing opticians and 7 optometrist members of the Hearings Panel members to our Hearings Panel.
About the GOC
We are the regulator for the optical professions in the UK. Our purpose is to protect the public by promoting high standards of education, performance and conduct.
About the Hearings Panel
The Hearings Panel is a mix of lay (non-registrant) and registrant members with different backgrounds, skills, knowledge and experience from whom members of the Fitness to Practise Committee (FtPC) and our Registration Appeals Committee (RAC) are drawn, in accordance with our Committee Constitution Rules.
The FtPC considers whether a registrant’s fitness to practise is impaired and imposes sanctions if appropriate to do so. This includes considering allegations, hearing evidence and determining the fitness to practise of a registrant. This can include individual registered optometrists and dispensing opticians, the fitness of business registrants to carry on business as an optometrist or a dispensing optician or both; and the fitness of student registrants to undertake training as an optometrist or dispensing optician. You will be responsible for sitting as part of a FtPC, which will consist of either 3 or 5 members (a mix of lay and registrant members) drawn from the Hearings Panel.
You do not have to be a legally qualified individual or have specialist medical knowledge to participate in the FtPC process. We are looking for individuals who can contribute effectively and impartially, ensuring that all allegations are considered fairly and independently, maintaining standards for registrants and the protection of the public.
A FtPC can also determine whether it is necessary for interim measures (suspension or conditions) to be put in place whilst an investigation is in progress for the protection of the public or in the interests of a registrant.

Remuneration and time commitment
This role requires a commitment of approximately 16-20 days per year for Lay Members, 12-16 days per year for Optometrist Members and 8-12 days per year for Dispensing Optician Members, including time spent preparing for meetings. Hearings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC offices in London or other suitable venues.
A daily fee of £319 is paid in line with our member fees policy and member fee schedule, and expenses can also be claimed.

Registration Committee (one dispensing optician and one lay member)

About the Advisory Panel
The Advisory Panel is a meeting of the four Council’s committees (Companies, Education, Registration and Standards) in plenary session. They are established by statute for the purpose of giving advice and assistance to Council (whether or not in response to a request from them) on:
· matters relating to business registrants other than matters required by the Opticians Act to be referred to the Investigation Committee, the Registration Appeals Committee or the Fitness to Practise Committee;
· matters relating to optical training, education and assessment;
· matters relating to registration, other than matters required by the Opticians Act to be considered by the Registration Appeals Committee; and
· matters relating to the standards of conduct and performance expected of registrants or those seeking admission to the register.
The committees and the Advisory Panel meet about twice a year. You can read the current terms of reference for the Advisory Panel, Education Committee, Registration Committee and Standards Committee.
Remuneration and time commitment
A daily fee of £319 will be paid. This is in line with our member fees policy and member fee schedule. This is taxable and subject to Class 1 National Insurance (NI) contributions. It is not pensionable.
Members can claim expenses for travel and subsistence costs incurred on Council business as set out in our expenses policy.

he role of the Operations Officer (Licensing and Compliance) is to support the coordination, development and delivery of licensing and compliance processes and procedures across the Award Association.
The Operations Officer (Licensing and Compliance) will assist the Senior Licensing and Compliance Manager and other members of the Operations Team to ensure that, through the consistent and proactive use of standards, policies and quality assurance processes, backed up by effective licensing, the intellectual property and good reputation of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is effectively protected.
The role will work closely with Operations Directors and Operations Managers to assist predominantly with compliance management for all Award Operators, including National Award Operators (NAOs), Operating Partners (OPs) and Independent Award Centres (IACs).
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Operations Managers and the Senior Licensing and Compliance Manager with NAO, IAC and OP licence reviews/compliance checks including but not limited to providing administration support, drafting content where required and reviewing reports.
- Assist the Senior Licensing and Compliance Manager with issuing of and drafting correspondence in relation to all licence documentation (terminations, licence extensions, agreements, and certificates etc).
- Assist the Senior Licensing and Compliance Manager and Operations Managers with the ongoing compliance management process for NAOs and OPs.
- Review policies and operational procedures submitted by Operators to ensure they are compliant with the International Award Foundation (IAF) standards and provide feedback/guidance where necessary.
- Assist the Licensing and Compliance Manager to disseminate information regarding licensing and quality assurance processes to Foundation colleagues, and to the wider Association when appropriate.
- Fulfil the role of lead reviewer on licence reviews for all Operators as required.
- Assist, where necessary, the development and maintenance of key Award Foundation and Association policies, including periodic reviews and updates where necessary.
- Assist with ad hoc projects as required.

At Breast Cancer Now we have some ambitious goals – and we need your skills to help turn them into reality.
We have an exciting opportunity for an artworker to join our in-house design studio. You’ll become a vital part of our creative team, spending your time supporting our designers and amending, editing and preparing artwork for our fundraising, campaigning, research, support services, breast cancer information work and more.
You’ll split your time between working at our London office and up to 3 days a week from home, and report to the senior design manager.
About you
You don’t have to be the most experienced artworker in the world. If you’re just starting out or are early in your design career, then we’d love to hear from you.
What we’re really looking for is someone with a real passion for supporting colleagues, attention to detail and a willingness to take on multiple briefs.
We want someone who approaches their work in a proactive and positive way, is confident in using their design skills (in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva and PowerPoint) and is comfortable working to a pre-determined concept or creative direction.
