What will you be doing?

 Mary Ward Settlement (‘MWS’) is seeking additional trustees to join its Board at an exciting time for the charity.  Our award-winning centre in Stratford, East London is expanding.  We are growing our legal and mental health services and expanding our range of exciting and innovative opportunities in education, to enable people to forge new careers, develop new interests and to join and enjoy a community of people with shared interests.  

The trustees will have the experience to steer the strategic development of the organisation in close collaboration with the CEO and senior management team.  Trustees have the ultimate responsibility for making decisions on the governance of the MWS, ensuring that we are financially sustainable, well-run and committed to delivering our charitable responsibilities.

We currently work from two centres, in Stratford and Southwark. If you live or work in the East of London, particular in the boroughs of Newham and surrounding area, or Southwark, Lambeth and the South East of London we are especially keen to hear from you.

We are seeking people with enthusiasm, good interpersonal skills, and empathy and understanding of our service uses, who are prepared to use their experience and skills to achieve the objectives of MWS.

Ideally new trustees should have skills that complement those of the existing members of the Board and we are particularly interested in applications from individuals that can demonstrate significant experience in one or more of the following areas: 

· Finance for a role as trustee treasurer - holding a relevant qualification in accounting and with financial experience

· Education, especially experience on school or higher education governance boards

· Marketing especially in relation to education services

· Health, especially mental health provision and public health delivery

Many families in Wales are unfortunately facing this challenge alone, without support from others.

As a Practical Family Support Volunteer for Tŷ Hafan, you will assist families in need with various light tasks such as cleaning, tidying up and laundry.

Your contribution will go beyond housekeeping; it's about taking some of the pressure off and giving families the breathing space they need to spend more precious time together.

This role offers the satisfaction of knowing you are making a positive impact on families with a child with a life-shortening condition, by helping them create a tidy, clean and safe home environment that reduces their daily stress and worries.

Most importantly, you will be helping us to ensure that no family faces this challenge, alone.

As a member of the board you will ultimately be responsible for the overall direction, vision and strategy of Law for Life. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Treasurer to work alongside the Chair, Board, CEO and Finance Manager to ensure the charity’s financial wellbeing, accountability, and sustainability.

You will have the ability to innovate, to think strategically, while demonstrating sound judgement. You will help us to move on to the next stage of our three year strategic plan.

A Nature Buddy is someone who believes in the benefits of health and wellbeing, outdoor learning and environmental stewardship.

Time commitment:

1 hour weekly for periods of 6-8 weeks at a time. This particular project runs until April/May, however there are many other projects in the Let's Go Outside and Learn catalogue. We love to work long-term with volunteers, so we provide solid support, online and in-person training, as well as regular support and guidance from us, to make this a no-brainer for you.

This is an ideal role to gain experience for your CV in the social care and environmental sectors, broadening your skills, and creating a pathway for potential new career avenues. You will be given induction training, online and in-person, this will be carried out through 3 sessions and a handbook for you to keep track of what you are learning. You will recieve on-going support and guidance as well as peer support at volunteer meetings. You'll work closely with the Let's Go team, who are there to help you and the participants. 

Youth representative invited to join charity Board of Trustees!

Do you have lived experience as a refugee or asylum seeker?

Are you aged 17 – 25 years?

New Citizens’ Gateway is seeking a youth representative to join their Board of Trustees, and you could be an amazing part of helping this charity grow. This will be a fantastic opportunity to gain new skills, including learning how charities run and building leadership and networking abilities. No experience required and trustee training will be offered.

New Citizens’ Gateway is a charity in Barnet, London that empowers refugees and asylum seekers to foster a sense of belonging, integrate into the UK and rebuild their lives, through advice and guidance, campaigning, ESOL classes, community classes and groups, counselling, wellbeing services, youth activities and mentoring. 

Board meetings are held four times a year in addition to attending occasional networking, fundraising and ceremonial events and meetings. All reasonable expenses will be covered by the charity. We anticipate a 1-2 hour monthly time commitment.
