The role blends income generation with relational working & creative communications to elevate visibility, strengthen engagement & enhance sustainability.
This varied role is an opportunity for you to gain exposure to a diverse array of areas involved in the leadership & management of a non-profit organisation. This role will encompass continual opportunities for ideas, creativity & exploration.
Salary: £29,064 (NJC 13) pro rota (plus pension contribution if applicable)
Hours of work: 16 hours a week (working days & times to be determined)
Location: Birmingham City Centre with remote working

Main Duties & Responsibilities
Grants & Funding
To identify & secure grants to support our core support provision.
· Researching, identifying & pursuing grants & funding opportunities.
· Leading in the preparation & submission of high-quality small grant, bids, proposals & funding applications.
· Offering support with the preparation & submitting of high-quality large grant, bids, proposals & funding applications.
· Supporting the development of grant reports, impact summaries, outcome reporting & funder communications.
Business Development & Trading Income
To increase our support offering & trading/unrestricted income to enhance sustainability & meet the needs of women subjected to sexual violence & abuse.
· The development, implementation & management of new & existing services, products & resources.
· To identify strategies, opportunities & ideas for growth, greater social impact, income generation & income diversification.
· Exploration of new revenue models & earned-income opportunities.
· To lead on projects associated with trading income generation & diversification.
Partnerships & Communications
To enhance our partnership working & communications to nurture supportive relationships in our community.
· Establishing, developing, maintaining & cultivating strong partnership working with individuals & organisations that support our work (including educational institutions, corporates, non-profits & other organisations).
· Nurturing partnerships to raise awareness of our work & enhance associated income opportunities.
· Developing partnership models, value propositions & partnership packages tailored to prospective supporters that facilitate support delivery, community engagement & organisational growth.
· Supporting co-design initiatives where appropriate with partners & beneficiaries.
· Supporting with marketing & communications tailored across platforms to our supporters & partners.
· Supporting with strategic marketing, communications & social media activities.
General
· Contributing towards creative idea exploration surrounding the growth & expansion of GINA, services, products & resources.
· Monitoring trends in the non-profit sector funding landscape including philanthropic shifts, corporate social responsibility & community needs.
· Collaborating & supporting with the line management of relevant volunteer teams to support with the above activities.
· Ensuring lived experience remains centred within all activities & continuously exploring opportunities for involvement & infusion of lived experience.
· Representing GINA at events (occasional travel)
· Undertaking any other duties as required by GINA (including, but not limited to operational & administrative tasks).

Role summary
The Fundraising Assistant role is a vital role for Edward’s Trust’s Fundraising Team. You will be assisting with all areas of Fundraising from being the first point of call for supporters and volunteers, to support them with fundraising activities, ensuring they are thanked, and communications are personal and timely. You will be involved in planning and assisting with the fundraising activity across the team and will have responsibility for keeping our database and records up to date and ensuring we are compliant.

Key tasks and responsibilities
- Be the first point of contact for supporters, requests and queries relating to fundraising.
- Maintain accurate records of fundraising activity and income and be able to report on basic fundraising activity and income, including following financial procedures such as scanning and banking of cheques, timely preparation of thank you letters and updating of the fundraising database and planning and evaluation documents.
- Maintain the fundraising database, Donorflex, and any other planning documents through accurate data input and compliance with data processing regulations.
- Process Gift Aid
- Create materials such as posters, tickets, signs, social media posts and campaign emails to promote fundraising activities as required
- Be responsible for managing, ordering, updating and keeping track of all fundraising merchandise, leaflets and other equipment for fundraising purposes.
- Assist in the running and planning of fundraising campaigns and activities as required.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally
- Provide excellent supporter care to all supporters including service users
- Present supporters with further fundraising opportunities where appropriate
- Assist in identifying potential new supporters such as corporate partners and sponsors.
- Work closely with other members of the Fundraising team to ensure the department’s objectives are fulfilled.

The Role
The Finance & Operations Coordinator is a central position in a small, purpose-driven team. The role provides direct support to the Managing Director and works closely with the Finance Committee to ensure that the charity’s financial and operational systems are well managed, compliant and effective.
This is a broad and hands-on role that involves managing day-to-day UK operations, supporting financial oversight, ensuring smooth coordination with our in-country partners, and keeping our administrative framework in excellent order.
You will be responsible for maintaining clear systems, meeting key reporting deadlines, and ensuring that the organisation runs efficiently behind the scenes. The role suits someone who is proactive, reliable, and comfortable managing a wide variety of tasks with independence and initiative.
Key Responsibilities
Finance and Reporting

Maintain accurate financial records in Xero, reconciling transactions and processing payments for invoices, payroll and expenses.

Allocate receipts and donations to the correct funds and ensure supporting documentation is filed systematically.

Prepare and submit Gift Aid claims to HMRC.

Collate quarterly financial and narrative reports from Moroccan partner NGOs and follow up on missing information.

Support the Managing Director and Finance Committee with budget preparation, analysis and audit documentation.

Ensure that annual accounts and financial reports are submitted in line with Charity Commission requirements.
Operations and Administration

Oversee and improve shared filing systems (Teams/SharePoint), ensuring that all administrative and financial records are accurate, up to date and easy to access.

Manage the main email inbox, responding to or redirecting correspondence promptly and professionally.

Coordinate logistics for meetings, events, and annual project visits in Morocco.

Support the Managing Director with scheduling, documentation, and general administrative follow-up.

Monitor compliance tasks, ensuring that all Charity Commission and internal governance requirements are up to date and properly documented.
Donor and Partner Relations

Act as a first point of contact for donors, supporter schools, hotels and individuals.

Process and acknowledge donations, issue receipts and maintain accurate donor records.

Proactively follow up with existing and potential supporters, helping to build and maintain relationships.

Liaise with Moroccan partners to ensure that project and financial reporting are on track and shared on time.
Governance and Oversight

Support the Finance Committee and Managing Director with preparation for trustee and committee meetings, including gathering reports and ensuring actions are followed up.

Assist with external audits and reviews, coordinating with UK auditors and Moroccan partners as needed.

Maintain oversight of risk management, safeguarding and health and safety documentation, ensuring relevant information is filed and accessible.
Person Specification
Essential

Experience with Xero or similar accounting software, and confidence handling day-to-day bookkeeping.

Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) and comfortable using Teams/SharePoint.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Able to work independently and take initiative, with good judgement about when to seek input.

Comfortable managing multiple priorities and adapting to a varied workload.

Interest in education, international development or girls’ empowerment.

Location: Remote (with annual project visit to Morocco)
Hours: 24 to 40 hours per week negiotable
Salary: £25,000 – £29,000 per annum (pro rata)
Annual leave and benefits: 25 days annual leave (pro rata, excluding bank holidays) + pension scheme (as per regulatory requirements)
