The opportunity:
Working within the Impact and Investment team, you will support Better Society Capital to manage and leverage impact and system change data, processes and our tools, to enable effective data driven insights to help decision making, drive our strategy and support market building.
The Interim Data & Impact Director will play an important role in defining the way we manage our impact and systems change data by designing workflows and processes to ensure an effective flow of data across our investment process and translating this into impact management information and insight. The role will also help support key impact projects and influence the impact practices of other market players.
What you will do:
Portfolio Data: Impact & Systems Change

Lead on developing our impact and system change data management architecture and infrastructure to create a ‘data-on demand’ environment. This includes designing workflows to collect and receive impact data from fund managers, aggregating with existing portfolio data, and presenting for insights, learning, and decision making, including the creation of data dashboards and other tools.

Oversee the impact and systems change data stored on Salesforce and other management information systems ensuring it is up-to-date and accurate and designing workflows to process and report on the data.

Lead on the design, data collation, analysis and presentation of the investment portfolio’s impact performance for our annual impact and systems change performance committee.

Supporting the impact manager to deliver the annual impact report, leading on our data input.

Creation of reports and presentations that are engaging, user-friendly, insightful, and incorporate best practices in data visualisation and storytelling throughout the impact calendar i.e. lead on website updates for our investment numbers & where we invest section

Working collaboratively with Communications, Investor Engagement, Policy, Finance, Legal, and Operations groups and external Fund Managers on cross functional projects and initiatives.

Assist the Head of Impact and the Head of Investment Management in delivering our impact and systems change approach across stakeholders (incl. BSC Board, external audiences) and products (BSC’s Annual Report, BSC’s Impact Report, etc.)
Market Data

Leading our annual market sizing estimate & enterprise level data release, collaborating closely with relevant teams including market systems and communications to effectively communicate our findings and insight.

Working closely with other market players i.e. GIIN, Impact Investing Institute and European NABS to share and alignbest practice with market sizing methodologies.
Systems Management

Maintain and help develop back-end architecture of Salesforce and user experience on our frontline, impact and co-investor objects working closely with our Salesforce Administrator to continue to build out our impact data infrastructure.

Using Tableau/Power BI and other visualisation tools to present data clearly and build in house capacity to encourage others to ‘self-serve’– allowing users to gain portfolio level insight.

About the Role:
As the Trusts & Foundations Manager you will be responsible for generating income from grant making trusts and foundations.
You will take the lead on seeking out new prospects and nurturing existing relationships to significantly grow income. You will achieve this by researching sources of funding, devising individually tailored applications, maintaining excellent communications with existing and potential donor trusts and foundations, delivering an agreed income target as well as growing funding from these sources.

Here's a summary of your key responsibilities:
- Proactively identify and research new and pipeline trust, lottery and statutory fundraising opportunities and progress them to application stage.
- Developing the trust and foundation pipeline to generate new income and multiyear grants
- To lead the development of new fundraising proposals for priority fundraising projects, including potential research partnership opportunities where MQ collaborates on a joint bid with another institution
- To carry out targeted and systematic research to establish new high value prospects utilising existing networks, the MQ database, search engines and referrals
- Build long-term relationships with new and prospect trust, lottery and statutory donors, including through meetings, attendance at conferences and events, regular update calls/comms and – when possible – direct face-to-face engagement.

About You:
This role is for you if you are an experienced trusts and foundations fundraiser, with good knowledge of the sector. You'll have demonstrable experience of securing five and six figure grants to achieve annual income targets, both through stewarding existing supporters and through researching and cultivating a pipeline of new opportunities.
You will also be skilled in understanding and translating complex information and turning it in to compelling written proposals, for grants, corporate partnerships and major donors.
We do require someone who is proactive, hardworking and results-orientated.
Essential role requirements include:
- Experience of trusts and foundation fundraising and able to demonstrate continual growth in expertise and results in this area.
- Good understanding of the trusts and foundations fundraising environment and associated processes and different types of grant making bodies.

About the role
The senior marketing manager is a new role within the community and events function at Breast Cancer Now. We have ambitious plans for growth across this area of fundraising and believe that this role will be pivotal to the success of this.
With a team of two including a manager and an officer, this role will support the teams’ delivery of the existing marketing portfolio, including community fundraising activity and a range of third-party events. In addition, this role will also oversee the overarching campaign for the Pink Ribbon Walk series, the charity’s flagship walking product. We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to coordinate an 18-month project exploring how we can operationalise a new in-work poverty benchmark for employers in London. This benchmark, developed by the Social Market Foundation, has the potential to improve the lives of low paid workers, building on the success of the Living Wage campaigns
The in-work poverty benchmark project is a new and exciting pilot project at the Living Wage Foundation. We want this person to build a case for employers going further than our existing accreditations and taking a more holistic approach to tackling in work poverty. This role would help us develop the pilot through employer case studies and extensive stakeholder engagement with a view to launching a new vehicle to recognise employers who adopt the in-work poverty benchmark.
Three key parts of the role would be working with:
- Our Membership team and our Operations and Insights team: to scope out and enhance their capacity to support employers to implement the benchmark through e.g. workshops, provision of guidance and /or new ways of working with employers.
- The cross organisational Making London a Living Wage City (MLLWC) team to build upon the successes and networks of this project and align where helpful to encourage London employers to go further
- London based community organisers to ensure that the experiences and stories of low paid workers are a primary driver of the case for change and how we develop this work.
The ideal candidate would be a proactive and experienced project manager with experience of building and implementing new products, projects or services. They should have excellent communication skills and a track record of engaging diverse stakeholders and building a network.
Living Wage Foundation
The Living Wage Foundation was launched in 2011 by Citizens UK to tackle in-work poverty and ensure that workers earn enough to live on and participate in family and community life. Citizens UK is the home of community organising with diverse civil society alliances set up to develop leaders to work on the issues that matter to them, such as the Living Wage. Other projects include Parent Action and Sponsor Refugees to add depth to the impact of Citizens UK’s work.
The Living Wage is a movement of businesses, organisations and people who believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay. The real Living Wage is an independently-calculated hourly rate based on the cost of living and announced each October ahead of Living Wage Week, our annual celebration of a growing network of over 15,000 Living Wage Employers.
The Living Wage Foundation celebrates employers that voluntarily choose to pay the real Living Wage through an accreditation scheme that recognises a long-term commitment to fair pay and has secured pay rises for 475,000 low paid workers. Over recent years, the Living Wage Foundation has built on the success of the real Living Wage by creating new responsible employment standards – Living Hours and Living Pension – for those employers who want to go further and provide the security workers need now and in the future.
Main Responsibilities
Contribute to the achievement of the LWF and CUK’s strategic aims
· Work with the Living Wage Foundation team to embed this project into the wider work and strategy of the Foundation, and to identify and share learning from across our projects on how to mobilise employer action to tackle poverty.
Develop and manage external relationships
· Develop and implement a stakeholder engagement plan to support and promote the project.
· Manage strong relationships with the project partners and funders to involve and update them on the project as required.
· Progress our existing partnerships whilst proactively securing new partnerships with organisations that can help promote and build demand for the in-work poverty benchmark.
· Develop a wide-ranging network of stakeholders with an interest in this project, finding ways to involve them in its development.
· Coordinate and manage a project working group of senior Living Wage Employers, in work poverty experts and employee stakeholders.
Build and manage projects and achieve work targets effectively
· Set up, manage and evaluate a set of action pilots with employers, low paid employees and relevant experts to develop and test the in-work poverty benchmark and the standards within it.
· Design and develop the recognition mechanism and support programme for employers who sign up to the in-work poverty benchmark.
· Provide regular progress reports and deliver agreed project milestones including events, reports and other agreed outputs.
· Oversee the project being integrated into our CRM system and developing robust project management systems.
Learning, expertise, wellbeing and inclusion
· Conduct desk research, stakeholder interviews and organise events as required to inform the project. Manage research partners to conduct additional research as required.
· Monitor, review, evaluate and write up pilot progress with each employer using qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods.
· Working with others to identity and share learning on how to mobilise employer action to tackle poverty, considering this in the development of the in-work poverty benchmark.
· Develop and host employer facing events to gain insight and test appetite to support the development of this work.
· Design and facilitate employer workshops and employee focus groups to identify best practice and shared learning.
· Produce a final report and recommendations for how the work might be taken forward at the conclusion of the project, presenting this to relevant stakeholders.
Communications
· Oversee the collation and dissemination of research and evidence to build the case for the in-work poverty benchmark. Work with the Living Wage Foundation Communications and Research team to enable this.
· Develop the support we offer Living Wage Employers that are interested in implementing the in-work poverty benchmark and lead the production and design of research reports, toolkits, best practice guides and other resources.
· Promote the Living Wage Foundation to build our reputation as a leader in good work practices for low paid workers, including launching research and reports and celebrating progress made.
· Represent the Living Wage Foundation at meetings, events and conference to build awareness and support for our work.
Develop and manage internal relationships:
· Build and manage strong relationships across the LWF and wider Citizens UK teams for effective collaboration and to support development of this work.
· Work closely with community organisers in London to ensure the voices of low paid workers are a leading influence on this project.
· Contribute to the LWF and Citizens UK Senior Management meetings and cross organisational working groups.
Generate income and resources
· Oversee the development and implementation of an employer fee structure for the in-work poverty benchmark vehicle.

Relationship management and network
- Build and manage strong relationships with member schools and key stakeholders across your region in order to add value to their membership, driving engagement, long term loyalty and ultimately impact in our schools.

You will line manage a Media Manager and Senior Media Officer in the UK and provide guidance to a Media Advisor in Brussels to design and deliver high-quality media relations activity and ensure the effective operation of ShareAction’s press office and internal processes, including media monitoring and reporting.
You'll play a key role in the development of campaigns to hold global companies to account for their impact on people and planet and promote research and recommendations to support our vision of a world where responsible investment is the norm. With excellent interpersonal skills, you’ll be able to work collaboratively, supporting colleagues to engage effectively with the media.

What you’ll bring to the team
We want to hear from you if you have substantial experience working in a press office or as a journalist, with recent experience at a senior level, and a strong track record of securing positive coverage to achieve brand, engagement and influencing goals. This role would suit someone who is skilled in developing and delivering media strategy to support organisational objectives – including thought leadership activity for specialist audiences – and has the interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels across the organisation and win support for your recommendations. You’ll be a highly regarded people manager who has a proven track record of developing junior team members and putting in place the structures and support for them to succeed. You’ll be passionate about using the power of communications to help drive a better future for people and planet.
This role would suit someone who has outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with a flair for breaking down complex issues and the ability to use framing and messaging techniques to produce high-quality content that can resonate with target audiences and inspire action. You’ll enjoy working in a fast-paced, changing campaigning environment and have excellent organisational skills to be able to manage multiple projects at once. You might have previous experience developing media activity within a campaigning or advocacy organisation or on social, environmental or financial issues.

We are currently formalising our hybrid working policy; however, as this role involves a lot of close collaboration with London-based colleagues, there is an expectation that you will be able to come into the office once a week. The whole Communications team meets together in person at least once a month.

Person specifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 3 years’ experience in project management within charity or international development settings. You should demonstrate a strong understanding of forest governance and human rights, particularly in Central Africa, and exhibit leadership in project management. Proficiency in both English and French is essential, alongside experience in financial management and a personal commitment to defending human rights. Additionally, you should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work under pressure in complex environments, including up to 12 weeks of travel per year to remote forest areas.
