The Role

As our Shop Manager you will lead a team of volunteers to raise funds to invest in achieving the charity’s goal to save lives in Yorkshire. Reporting to the Retail Area Manager, you will portray the charity as a professional, credible brand which acts with integrity and provide excellent customer service, ensuring volunteers, donors and customers know how their contribution is helping the people of Yorkshire. 

Specifically, you will:

· Manage and be accountable for implementing and complying with agreed shop operating policy and standards including Health and Safety and Trading Standards.

· Be responsible for ensuring the shop is presented to the highest standards with attractive visual merchandising and window displays.

· Be responsible for attracting and recruiting a team of new volunteers, ensuring they are well trained and take every effort to create a welcoming and happy environment.

· Be responsible for ongoing volunteer training and engagement, ensuring the volunteer management system is actively kept up to date.

· Have line manager responsibility for assistant manager, working together to ensure there is management cover and sufficient volunteers to operate all trading hours.

· Ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received).

· Be responsible for ensuring accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes.

· Prepare and complete all shop administration including cash handling and banking functions to the highest standard, accurately and on time, always adhering to charity policy and procedures.

· Create a welcoming professional atmosphere and deliver high standards of customer service for all customers and supporters.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

· To be ideally educated to A-level or equivalent.

· To have experience of managing people/volunteers including recruitment and development.

· To have previous retail experience in charity sector or commercial sector is desirable.

· To have experience of meeting and exceeding targets within a retail environment.

· To be highly organised with good time management skills.

· To have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· To have the ability or willingness to travel occasionally across the Yorkshire region for training and team meetings.

The Role

As our Deputy Shop Manager, you will raise funds to invest in achieving the charity’s goal to save lives in Yorkshire and portray the charity as a professional, credible brand which acts with integrity. Reporting to the Shop Manager, you will provide excellent customer service, ensuring volunteers, donors and customers know how their contribution is helping the people of Yorkshire.

Specifically, you will:

· Play an active part in running our shop in Castleford, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

· Provide cover for days off, holidays and sickness as required, with possible occasional travel to other shops to provide support if needed by the charity.

· Support the Shop Manager to maximise the income and profit of the shop through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation.

· Manage a team of well-trained volunteers in the absence of the Shop Manager and take every effort to create a happy retail environment.

· Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received).

We have an exciting opportunity for a Stock & Retail Supervisor in our Retail team at St Joseph’s Hospice.

We are looking for someone who has exceptional retail experience to work 4 days a week, including weekends. The successful applicant will have retail experience, brand, and fashion knowledge, will be able to drive sales through commercial awareness and will be a team player who will support volunteers to be able to maximise donation sales.

About You

You will need:

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• To oversee donation bins daily from the public which are then sorted and distributed to our three existing shops.
• Knowledge of brands and fashion.
• Sourcing and processing sufficient donations of the appropriate quality to keep all shops fully stocked, through door to door and clothing bank collections.
• Maximise donated stock, understand brands and fashion.
• Work closely with the senior retail team and shop supervisor to understand their stock requirements and be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of our van.

Job Profile

The role of the Major Gifts and Philanthropy (MGP) Team Research and Information Manager is a unique role within the sector and CAFOD. Working across MGP (which is made up of Major Donors and Corporate teams) as well as others, such as the Trusts and Foundations Team, it has been developed to meet the growing needs of planning and reporting across MGP and to ensure income growth is focused on raising the funds needed to achieve short and long term organisation priorities.

A pivotal role, the post-holder will hold lead expertise in philanthropy communications at CAFOD, working with other stakeholders to identify funding priorities so MGP can achieve an income forecast of nearly £3.17m in 2024/25.

Managing the Research and Information Executive, the post-holder will make sure that concept notes, proposals and reports are written for the most strategic work, and that MGP relationship managers are informed of projects in need of funding. With oversight of all team donor proposals, reporting and communications, you will ensure they align with CAFOD’s values, especially promoting anti-racist messages in line with our commitment to becoming an anti-racist organisation. 

The post-holder will share key donor trends and work closely with the Philanthropy Manager and Corporate Partnerships Manager to understand their research needs and develop a research strategy. Alongside the Research and Information Executive, you will complete research into top-level prospects and donors. 

This post sits in the MGP team, which is part of the Fundraising and Participation Group. As MGP’s information and prospect research expert, you will work with the Executive team, International Programmes, Integrated Fundraising and Business Innovation team, Data and Insight, Communications and Finance teams as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic leadership of MGP’s funding portfolio & engagement 

• Lead on the implementation of MGP’s funding strategy, maintaining a funding proposal pipeline and tracking where funds have been secured for projects, so it sits as a centre of excellence across CAFOD

• Oversee donor communications for the team, including appeals and cases for support for CAFOD’s most strategic work: unrestricted, and our humanitarian funding initiative, Every Second Counts; ensuring communications comply with anti-racist communication and fundraising principles 

• Build strong relationships with International Programmes staff and facilitate meetings for them to share strategic work with MGP team 

• Identify and influence change, especially relating to donor systems and processes 

• Work with Country teams to source relevant information and write funding proposals and reports for donors

• Mentor MGP relationship managers ensuring they can write their funding materials with success 

• Work with the Head of MGP to continually improve MGP systems and processes, and adapt them where necessary 

Lead prospect and donor research 

• Use expertise to research and evaluate information on donors and prospective donors, focusing on high-value supporters 

• Working with the team leads, identify their research needs and develop and implement a prospect research strategy that meets these 

• Identify key trends relevant to the MGP team - collating and analyse internal and external donor trends and reports and sharing them with the team 

• Work with the Head of MGP and the senior International Programme (IP) team to develop new multi-year initiatives and feasibility/ scoping studies

• Alongside the Philanthropy Manager have an overview of MGP’s supporter Ethical Checks Policy and support ethical checks and policy compliance as needed

• Work across the team to maintain donor profiles, train and guide the team members in writing their profiles, briefing notes and event profiles 

• Work with team leads and external research agencies for profiling and wealth screening audits. 

 Information Management  

• Maintain donor contact details in compliance with GDPR, data protection legislation and fundraising best practices 

• Have an overview of all MGP requests to CAFOD’s Data and Insight team and assist as required in gathering internal donor trends and reports 

• Work with the team to manage systems and records and update information on high-priority donors as required. 

 Budget & Planning 

• Participate in MGP planning and budget activities 

• Analyse income-related reports and share them with the Head of MGP

• Benchmark, monitor, draw upon and share best practices with MGP

 People Management    

• Line Manage, develop and support the Research & Information Executive by championing our purpose and values through building strong and safe working relationships, setting SMART objectives and conducting performance reviews

The Accelerating Reform Fund is a new initiative which aims to transform social care services, making them more responsive to the needs of the community.  It is a national programme, with 42 regions allocated to have their own projects.  Greater Manchester is one of the ARF regions. 

The ARF has a particular focus on unpaid carers and will see hands-on support provided to delivery partners from the Social Care Institute for Excellence. Job Summary 

The Senior Project Manager will play a pivotal role as the key contact point for Gaddum’s infrastructure support of the GM system. They will work closely alongside our passionate and skilled Greater Manchester colleagues in this transformative journey, taking ownership for the achievement of key project milestones, and will ultimately ensure that the system has the oversight and awareness of risks in order to plan for successful deployment.

Job Purpose 

The Senior Project Manager (SPM) will provide expert oversight and support across the ARF projects, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective delivery. The SPM will, as per their job title, project manage the infrastructure element of the entire GM programme. 

They will coordinate efforts across various sectors, manage stakeholder engagement, and be responsible for the integrated approach to risk management, data governance, and financial oversight. The role is accountable to Gaddum’s CEO, and will report to them.  It is central to ensuring the successful execution of the ARF's vision and objectives. 

Ultimately, the SPM’s goal is to support the system to achieve a consensus on what success looks like for the ARF in GM, and then work alongside the system to enable it to achieve it.

• Project Management Expertise: Working to agreed methodologies, provide expert oversight, ensuring all ARF projects are coordinated and integrated effectively across different sectors, with a clear definition of success.

• Budget Management: Support Manchester City Council’s finance team to develop detailed budget plans and forecasts, reporting on the project budget, ensuring funds are allocated efficiently and effectively across all project components.

• Working closely with Gaddum’s Head of Finance and the lead authority to ensure financial tracking, budget management, and reporting are aligned with project objectives.

You will indirectly support young people by ensuring that our Glasgow Centre operates safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for managing delivery space, facilities compliance and controlling office equipment and supplies. Having previous administrative experience is beneficial but not essential.

To be successful in this role, you must have a good understanding of the challenges young people within our target groups face, to assist them when they arrive in our Centre. In this role no two days are the same, you get to be involved with many different functions of the Trust and interact with everyone who works in the Glasgow Centre, this is why planning and organisation skills are a must.

Job Title:  Retail Operations Support Manager

Responsible to: Head of Retail

Salary: £26845 - £29,500 per annum

Hours: Full-time, 35 per week over 5 days with occasional weekend and evening work as required.

Location: Working across Retail Shops in Worcestershire and Herefordshire

Job Purpose and Role:

The Retail Operations Support Manager will provide comprehensive support to the Head of Retail, with a specific focus on Health and Safety and Gift Aid. This role will also involve assisting in various areas to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the retail division. The position aims to enhance the overall customer experience and optimise the income potential of our shops and online sales.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Health and Safety:

• Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures across all retail shops.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Train staff and volunteers on health and safety practices and emergency procedures.
• Address health and safety concerns promptly and effectively.

2. Gift Aid:

• Oversee the administration and maximisation of Gift Aid in all shops.
• Train staff and volunteers on Gift Aid procedures and ensure accurate record-keeping.
• Monitor Gift Aid performance and implement strategies to enhance results..

3. Operational Support:

• Assist in the development and implementation of retail strategies and business plans.
• Support the management of retail shops, ensuring adherence to internal policies and legislative requirements.
• Provide support in monitoring and reporting on shop performance and taking appropriate action when necessary.
• Collaborate with the Head of Retail to set and achieve income targets and KPIs.

4. Premises Management:

• Assist in coordinating remedial repairs and maintenance of retail premises.
• Ensure shops provide a stimulating, supportive, and safe working environment.
• Ensure that all shops adhere to statutory responsibilities, including health and safety.

5. Staff and Volunteer Support:

• Support the recruitment, induction, training, and management of staff and volunteers.
• Assist in managing performance and development through regular feedback and appraisals.
• Ensure effective communication and collaboration among all retail staff and volunteers.

6. Finance and Administration:

• Assist in setting budgets for each shop and monitor income and expenditure.
• Ensure adherence to Shop Financial Procedures, including cash handling and banking.
• Support the finance manager in monthly financial monitoring and reporting.

7. Stock Management:

• Support the oversight of stock levels and ensure stock is accepted, sorted, priced, and displayed in accordance with guidelines.
• Assist in minimising stock loss through effective management practices.

8. Customer Service:

• Ensure high standards of customer service across all retail shops.
• Address customer inquiries and complaints promptly and professionally.

9. Other Duties:

• Assist in implementing new shop projects and initiatives.
• Maintain good public relations within the local community.
• Perform any other duties commensurate with the role as required.

Personal Specification:

Essential:

• Previous retail experience at a management level.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
• Experience with Gift Aid administration and maximisation.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage and motivate a team.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Full current driving license and use of own vehicle.

Desirable:

• Retail experience within the charity retail sector.
• Knowledge of charity retail regulations and best practices.
• Experience in training and development of staff and volunteers.
