SafeLives has an unparalleled track record of using evidence and research to effect national change, with research and analysis being fundamental to helping SafeLives achieve its strategy. This information is used to set our policy messages, define our strategy, design our services and evidence the impact of the work we have done.

In April 2021, the Domestic Abuse Act received Royal Assent. The Act introduces a new civil Domestic Abuse Protection Notice (DAPN) to provide immediate protection following a domestic abuse incident and a new civil Domestic Abuse Protection Order (DAPO) to provide flexible, longer-term protection for victims. DAPOs can impose both prohibitions and positive requirements on perpetrators. Positive requirements can be in the form of interventions aimed at reducing and managing risk, meeting the needs of an individual (for the factors that are not the causation of abuse but impact on risk, e.g. mental ill health and substance misuse) and behaviour change interventions.

The Drive Partnership has been commissioned by the Home Office to design a triage model that will assess individuals for the suitability of these interventions; this triage model will be rolled out in the pilot sites, which are going live in May 2024, and will be tested and evaluated in order to prepare for national roll out in 2026.

The Research Analyst will be responsible for working with and supporting the Senior Research Analyst and Research Managers to develop and deliver rigorous and sector-leading data, analysis and recommendations across our work alongside the Drive Partnership.

This role is an exciting opportunity to help transform the response to domestic abuse by ensuring the sector is evidence-led. SafeLives holds the largest datasets on victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse nationally, which you will use to inform our ambitious policy and research agenda. Working alongside our practice experts, survivors of abuse, and our expert research team, you will help to answer important questions about what works in ending domestic abuse.

We need an enthusiastic, innovative and capable individual with the excellent technical ability to keep our unique sector-leading evidence base relevant and informative to all our users: local service providers, commissioners and national government. The evidence you produce will inform and influence national policymakers, funders and stakeholders to improve the response for families living with domestic abuse.

About the role

About you 

To be successful in this role you will have: 

• Experience of achieving system change through partnership working, building trusting relationships and collaboration as well as being a strong convener capable of driving change. 

• Ability to identify barriers to progress and problem solve sensitively with the ability to encourage focus on solutions, whilst maintaining strong and positive working relationships 

• Experience of working within or have extensive knowledge of the challenges faced by local authorities to making meaning change together with an ability to work across organisational boundaries. 

• Strong project management skills and able to work in an iterative and agile way. 

You may have experience in;

• Designing, running and facilitating interesting and innovative workshops 

• Working within a number of different localities simultaneously and providing bespoke support 

• Homelessness services within local authority or other organisations 

• Working in a consultant capacity

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

• To support residents to maintain and continue their recovery from drug and/or alcohol problems.
• To support residents to engage in positive activities (volunteering, work or education) to underpin their recovery.
• To manage the maintenance, upkeep, and management of all properties.

Main Outcomes

Residents remain substance free and in recovery. 

• Overseeing incoming referrals to obtain new residents.
• Undertaking drug and alcohol testing.
• Providing advice/signpost residents to additional recovery support and other issues such as housing, health, benefits, and finance.
• Assisting residents in times of crisis, offering them advice and support as appropriate.
• Developing the quality and effectiveness of the service, including utilising service user feedback.
• Attending training as appropriate and/or necessary.

Residents follow care plans and comply with licence agreements so that they grow in self-worth, self-confidence, and resilience. 

• Undertake weekly keywork sessions, tracking individualised goals as agreed on care plan.
• Co-facilitating groupwork.
• Monitoring the adherence to property and programme rules and helping to develop a healthy resident community.
• Keeping care plans and files up to date.
• Offering a high level of care and support to all, always maintaining appropriate professional conduct and boundaries.

The properties are kept to a high standard of repair and meet all legal and Landlord requirements.

• Through key working residents and regular visits and checks. Identify issues that would need resolving with the properties.
• Maintain relationships with Landlords to address their needs and repairs required.
• Arrange trades to deal with maintenance issues and make repairs

Working conditions (e.g., hours of work, any travelling required etc):

• Full Time (40 hours) per week, 12 month contract with a view to be made permanent.
• 25 days annual leave per year pro-rata, plus bank holidays.
• Reporting to Head of Key Working.
• You will be expected to travel to see residents (and employers, voluntary placements, etc) within the local area as part of your role.  Full driving license, vehicle and relevant insurance required.

Reporting to: Community Engagement Manager

About the role

The British Science Association's mission is to transform the diversity and inclusivity of science. We want more people, especially those from groups that are currently underrepresented in science, to feel that science is relevant to their lives. The BSA’s community engagement programmes focus on reaching these groups.

The Community Engagement Officer will provide support in delivering the BSA’s community engagement programmes. This role would suit someone with experience of supporting community engagement programmes.

Key responsibilities: Community Engagement programmes

The main responsibilities are to:

• Support the delivery of the British Science Week Community Grant Scheme and the creation/dissemination of the British Science Week Community Activity Pack
• Provide support for the delivery of the Community Buddies programme, the Community Lead Research Pilot and a Community Grants scheme for a new funder.
• Manage the BSA Communities social media accounts, working with Communications team colleagues
• Coordinate and help to grow the Community Engagement Network
• Manage communications for, and support development of, the Community Engagement Network members including writing newsletters, email updates and working with Comms colleagues to develop blog content
• Support with writing of funding proposals that lead to the growth of the community engagement portfolio
• Support projects delivered by other BSA teams as needed and undertake other duties as reasonably required by the line manager

Place of work: Flexible working but with 3 days a week in our London office and occasional travel to our Finance Office in Silsden in West Yorkshire. You will need to travel to L’Arche Communities you are responsible for from time to time.

Main purpose of the role:

Be one of four Finance Leads sharing responsibility to produce Community Management Accounts. Other duties include line managing one or two Bookkeepers, ensuring that Management Accounts results are discussed with Community Leaders/ Directors, leading on the Budget process for assigned Communities, and leading on the Housing Benefit/ Rent Increase process for assigned Communities.

Job Title – Solicitor - Senior Solicitor (Education Law Team)

Contract - Permanent

Hours - 35 hours per week (but part-time minimum 21 hours per week will be considered)

Salary - Our salary range for this role is £31,000 to £48,000 per annum, dependant on experience and PQE. We anticipate that the successful candidate would be able to meet the legal aid supervisor standard or be able to work towards this in a short space of time.

The Turn2us E-learning resource is a key project aiming to equip non-professional advisers with the knowledge and tools they need to effectively support people experiencing financial insecurity.

Our e-learning project is in its early stages. While we've laid the groundwork and prepared initial courses, there's significant potential for the right candidate to make a substantial impact on its further development and expansion.

You’ll also be working with our benefits experts and communications team to create high quality information content for a variety of platforms and mediums.

You will be someone with experience in the creation of varied and high-quality digital and print content both written and visual, in particular e-learning courses, as well as a passion for developing a deep understanding of our users and their needs.

The ideal candidate can work independently and manage their own time to hit project deadlines. You will enjoy working as part of a small team but will also be able to work across the whole organisation to develop new content. We are seeking a friendly, organised, part time administrator, to provide support to the Head Gardener at Horatio’s Garden Stoke Mandeville, at the National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury.

Horatio’s Garden is a charity that creates and cares for, beautiful gardens in NHS spinal injury centres. Leading garden designers develop the stunning sanctuaries for patients and their family and friends, creating an environment which becomes an integral part of their lives and care whilst spending many months in hospital.

The beautiful garden at Stoke Mandeville includes stunning planting, a water feature, and a large garden room to give patients a warm sheltered place to enjoy the garden in all weather.

The Garden Administrator will join a team of six other dedicated administrators across the charity’s existing projects. You will work closely with the Head Gardener and a team of volunteers to nurture the beautiful space for patients and their visitors.

You will be responsible for the administration of the garden and coordination of the large group of volunteers. With the Head Gardener you will also arrange social events for patients, their families and visitors.

The role is a fantastic opportunity for a confident administrator who is efficient and organised, with great IT skills and a proactive, can-do attitude. You will need to be adaptable and friendly and happy working with volunteers and patients. An understanding of the healing benefits of gardens would be beneficial. We welcome informal enquiries. 

The role is a part-time salaried post for 15-20 hours based in our garden, with flexibility for overtime to cover when the Head Gardener is on leave or absent from the garden.

· Able to form positive working relationships with staff at all levels, key stakeholders and volunteers

· An adaptable and flexible attitude
