About the role
As Fundraising Assistant you will have the opportunity to learn about many different arears of fundraising, including generating income from charitable trusts, statutory sources, individuals, schools and parishes. You will also work closely with our project teams and see the direct impact of your efforts, making a real difference to the lives of children and families.
The fundraising team is also actively involved in service delivery and this role will be instrumental in helping to distribute gifts and food to hundreds of disadvantaged families at Christmas, as well as helping families in crisis.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a neutral, independent organisation ensuring humanitarian protection and assistance for people affected by armed conflict and other violence. The regional delegation for the UK and Ireland builds support for the ICRC’s global operations and furthers understanding of international humanitarian law (IHL).
We are looking for a multi-skilled, energetic and creative communications manager to join our busy London office. The ideal post holder will be able to produce compelling copy, handle media enquiries and shape our social media content. They will work closely with colleagues in the small London communications team and within the wider global network to effectively profile the work of the ICRC to audiences in the UK & Ireland and beyond. The communications team works very closely with our colleagues in operations, humanitarian diplomacy, legal and fundraising, as well as our Red Cross Red Crescent Movement partners the British Red Cross and the Irish Red Cross.
About the role - Job description and key responsibilities
Produce engaging multimedia content that showcases the work of the regional delegation, its operational priorities and highlights the ICRC’s global activities.
- Able to master complex topics quickly and translate them into powerful messages using simple language.
- Develop the ICRC UK and Ireland voice on social media in line with the delegation’s influencing objectives and position the ICRC on key humanitarian issues in the UK.
- Support our daily engagement with UK media outlets. This includes managing challenging media requests efficiently, drafting key messaging and replies, triaging interviews and liaising with colleagues around the world to ensure our response is appropriate and effective.
- Produce, support and manage communications plans to profile senior leadership during visits to the UK and Ireland and for key events, regularly injecting our thinking into public discourse on humanitarian issues.
- Provide regular communications support for UK and Ireland-focused activities, managing strategy, refreshing messaging and supporting fundraising efforts when required.
- Work closely with our communication colleagues from the British Red Cross and Irish Red Cross to liaise on timely and accurate Red Cross Red Crescent Movement content and messaging.
- Manage relationships with digital colleagues at HQ and other ICRC sites, including collaboration on social media content, strategy and scheduling.

Person specification (qualifications, skills & experience required)
- Excellent writing skills, with an ability to draft strong news releases, first-person pieces, media pitches and social media posts.
- Experience of working in a complex organisation, demonstrating a high-level of diplomacy when liaising and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of issues related to humanitarian action.
- A strong interest in international affairs.

About the team
Part of our Strategy Enablement Directorate, the Data & Insight Team delivers high quality data and database management, administrative services and business insight to the department and other teams across Shelter. Custodians of supporter data for its full life cycle, running through everything we do is a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of data quality and embedding a culture of standards, both in terms of compliance and best practice across the department. About the role
The Lead Insight Analyst plays a crucial role in leading the production of meaningful narrative & insight to enable Shelter to effectively measure and evidence performance and impact. Working with a range of technology and platforms, they will ensure insight is delivered to meet stakeholder needs whilst identifying areas for growth, increased investment opportunities and surfacing risks or challenges within activities. About you
We’re looking for a motivated self-starter to join the Data and Insight team as a Lead Insight and Business Intelligence Analyst. You’ll have advanced experience of data management processes and principles, as well as being experienced in the use of PowerBI and other data analytics/visualisation tools (such as Tableau, Google Analytics, etc.). Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills are a must, as is the ability to effectively communicate and write for both a technical and a user audience. As well as this, we’re looking for an individual who has the ability to lead and manage a small team, and proven ability to engage and work cross-functionally.

With empathy and understanding of the financial challenges facing Carers in the current climate, you will deliver a responsive and sensitive service and will help assess what kind of support they need.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provide casework support across the full range of welfare benefits to Carers.
- Act for the Carers where necessary by calculating benefit entitlement, negotiating, drafting or writing letters.
- Negotiate with third parties as appropriate.
- Ensure income maximisation through the take up of appropriate benefits.
- Assist clients with other related problems where they are an integral part of their case and refer to other advisors or specialist agencies as appropriate.
- Attend home/outreach visits as necessary.

IMPACT YOU WILL HAVE
This role will involve designing the 'Missing Employees' service, encompassing the scoping and structuring process, becoming the subject matter expert for the charity, and developing their menu of support to be able to offer casework support and guidance to organisations and individuals affected. This will involve working directly with adults at risk who are missing or who have experience of being missing.
You will develop guidance, policy and learning and development in this new area for the charity. You will form a new pioneering service through the building of expertise in this area and will lead in delivering support to individuals and organisations when someone goes missing, providing advice, advocacy and a confidential listening ear. You will reach out to organisations and HR leads to offer training and consultancy, so they are best prepared for missing employee experiences.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Service development
• Scope requirements for the service by working with the project steering group, identifying gaps in existing service provision and working with teams across the charity.
• Work with the Head of Service Development to design the service, including structure, design capacity, resource needs, KPIs and delivery methods.
• Develop the charity's expertise around employment law regarding missing, including policy and impact of those affected.
• Work closely through co-production with families, adults who have been missing and companies who have experienced a missing colleague, seeking feedback, sharing their experiences and developing the service and tools it needs.
• Build relationships with organisations and steward them to become financial supporters of the charity.
• Work with the Business Development Team and Corporate Fundraising team to create user journeys for companies from advice to financial support to the charity.
Service delivery
• Provide confidential consultation, advice and guidance to; employers, colleagues, adults who are returning to work after being missing and family members communicating with employers.
• Proactively contact organisations when it becomes clear they have a missing employee.
• Work with organisations, providing consultation and needs assessment, so HR professionals, line managers, and colleagues are trained and have processes in place to manage ‘Missing Employee’ incidents.
