We are currently recruiting for Bid - Writer Support to join our passionate and driven team.
As Bid Administrator you will support the performance of a high performing bid team designed to facilitate and support the successful winning of new grants and tenders across the UK.
As an outstanding administrator you will play a key role in assisting the team to ensure that all bid documents and business development literature is prepared and presented not only to the highest possible standards but on time – often within challenging deadlines. Key Responsibilities:
· Management of a central mailbox, including basic tender management duties
· Monitoring new business opportunities advertised on various portals and websites.
· Reviewing new business opportunities as they arrive, forwarding relevant opportunities to the appropriate bid writers.
· Taking ownership of the bid library, which includes ensuring that it kept up to date as and when new opportunities are submitted.
· Thoroughly proof-reading materials to ensure information is grammatically correct, well-researched, and without spelling errors
· Ensuring that our in-house bid process is understood and implemented to ensure that quality, commercial and legal requirements are consistently met
· Taking ownership of client portals – Including dealing with daily alerts and maintenance of portal logins
· Providing general administrative support to the bid writing team.
The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours commitment per week across Monday and Friday.
Upon successful application, our HR team will contact you to arrange an interview. Following a successful interview, we'll initiate the onboarding process by sending you the necessary documents. Once your onboarding and identification documents are received and verified, you'll be invited to a 6-hour HR and System Induction. Subsequently, you'll meet with your Head of Department or Assistant Manager for your First Day.

Role Description: Trustee
To be a Trustee of an organisation is an exciting and fulfilling role and the most effective Boards are ones which benefit from individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences and skill sets.
The role of a Trustee is to ensure that GFS fulfils its duty to its beneficiaries and delivers on our vision, mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
The statutory duties of a trustee are:
• To ensure the organisation complies with its governing document (articles of association).
• To ensure that the organisation pursues its objectives as defined in its governing document.
• To ensure the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objectives - the charity must not spend money on activities which are not included in its own objectives.
• To contribute actively to the Board of Trustees’ role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets.
• To safeguard the good name and values of the organisation.
• To ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
• To ensure the financial stability of the organisation.
• To protect and ensure the proper investment of the organisation’s funds.
• To appoint the Chief Executive and monitor their performance.
• In addition, with other trustees, to hold the charity “in trust” for current and future beneficiaries by:
• Ensuring that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these.
• Being responsible for the performance of the charity and for its behaviour; ensuring that the charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
• Taking care of the charity’s assets.
The Board of Trustees are jointly and severally responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, the impact of its activities and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.
Beyond the statutory duties of GFS, we ask that our trustees take a supporting role within the organisation to help drive the delivery of the strategy and support the team. This could include activities such as chairing committees/working groups, mentoring members of the team or actively supporting meetings with potential funders for example.

About the role
Trustees of Save the Children UK (SCUK) play a unique role in delivery of our mission. They are collectively responsible for the governance of the organisation and for all decisions made by the Board. They set the strategic direction for the organisation, ensuring alignment to our values, and are responsible for setting organisational policy, defining targets, agreeing the financial plan, evaluating performance, and ensuring that strong relationships are maintained between the Trustees and the Executives.
As a Trustee of SCUK, you will:
- Act in SCUK's best interests, ensuring the charity complies with its governance responsibilities, charity law, company law and other relevant legislation or regulations, and ensure the effective management of resources and of risk.
- Provide support and constructive challenge to the Chief Executive and Executive Leadership Team to ensure the delivery of SCUK's mission and implementation of its strategic plan.
- Bring personal experience and professional expertise to the Board; contribute to key strategic debates within the organisation and to specific departmental and cross-team initiatives; and help to strengthen Board governance.
- Help ensure that SCUK continues to maintain the highest safeguarding standards in line with legislation, statutory guidance and best practice, and organisation policy and procedure.
- Ensure that safeguarding remains embedded in the culture of SCUK encouraging a safer environment for those we serve, our staff and volunteers.
- Attend quarterly Board meetings at SCUK's Head Office in Farringdon, London as well as any ad hoc Board meetings that arise.
- Represent SCUK at key functions, including fundraising and profile-raising events.
In particular, as a Trustee with expertise in international development, you will:
- Bring knowledge and experience of international development including the INGO sector.
- Bring a strong understanding of the contexts in which Save the Children works.
- Use your experience to help drive SCUK's goal to advance children's rights by working alongside and building the power of children, communities and local partners.
- Champion a focus on driving sustainable impact at scale.
- Champion SCUK's ambitions to shift power and resources to communities, local organisations and champion local leadership.
- Become a Member of the Audit & Risk Committee, which considers both external and internal audits, and advises the Board on financial control, risk management and organisational effectiveness.
About you
We are seeking to recruit a Trustee who:
- Is engaged with, and excited by, SCUK's vision, mission and values.
- Will work to guarantee the highest standards of integrity and governance and help ensure statutory requirements are met.
- Has robust knowledge of international development and the INGO sector.
- A strong understanding of the contexts within which SCUK works, with an appreciation of and strong interest in international affairs.
- Has experience of working in the Global South.
- Will champion shifting the power to children, communities and local partners within SCUK's structures, and as a part of the global Save the Children Movement.
- Is able and willing to devote the necessary time to the role. Trustees are required to attend all Board meetings (four Board meetings and one or more Board calls per year) and quarterly Audit & Risk Committee meetings (you may be asked to join another Board Committee or take on another role (e.g. Whistleblowing Trustee)). Trustees may also be asked to participate in Board strategy days, telephone conferences, or travel on behalf of SCUK.
- Has an understand of, or a willingness to learn about, the duties, liabilities and responsibilities of Trustees, and of the difference between governance and management functions.
- Has a demonstrable commitment to championing diversity and inclusion, and a clear understanding of power, privilege, and how this affects everyone, particularly the children and communities with which we work.
Highly desirable capabilities:
- Collaborative, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strategic thinker: ability to strategically assess risks and opportunities and make informed decisions in line with the organisation's mission.
- Experience in, or an understanding of, the technology sector, digital development and innovation.
- Willingness to build and use networks to make introductions for Save the Children UK, for example to explore best practice in or facilitate fundraising, or advocacy and campaigning.
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, corporate governance issues, especially those that might affect a large international not-for-profit organisation.

Rochdale and District Mind is a mental health charity that supports people in the community who are facing mental health challenges. Our area of operation is Heywood, Middleton, Rochdale, Bury and N.E. Lancashire. As part of the Mind Federation and the Mind in Greater Manchester partnership, our goal is to ensure that individuals do not face mental health issues alone and can live free from stigma and discrimination.
Our team consists of over 70 dedicated staff members and volunteers who provide a wide variety of services and activities, including counselling, therapeutic group workshops, advocacy, crisis support, dementia support, two wellbeing cafés, as well as other wellbeing activities such as sports sessions. To ensure our services are effective and rooted in the needs of the community, we involve people who use our services in shaping our offer. We are also pleased to be recognised for our work with our Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities in Rochdale. We work proactively both with our service users and with other key stakeholder organisations to tackle health inequalities.
Chair opportunity
We are flexible in our approach and are open to a single Chair or Co-Chair arrangement. We are looking for strong governance experience and the ability to lead. Our new Chair or Co-Chairs will have energy and drive, a genuine passion for mental health support and be able to bring both knowledge and connections to the organisation.
It is an interesting time to be joining us. In recent years, Rochdale and District Mind has experienced significant growth, with both our annual turnover and staff numbers doubling. We have successfully integrated our offerings into the strategic framework of our local Integrated Care Board, adapting our services to address the evolving mental health needs of our community. We are currently engaged in a phase of reflection and consolidation, and with our new CEO Philip Bramson now in place are poised to embark on the next chapter of our journey from a solid foundation.
