We are Surrey Wildlife Trust, part of the federation of 46 national wildlife trusts. We are experts in increasing biodiversity and bio abundance. Our mission is to restore 30% of land in Surrey to nature by 2030. Research shows that if 25% of people take action, this can create large scale change which is why our mission is also to get 1 in 4 people taking action for nature.

We are looking for an engaging people-focused individual to build relationships with supporters of Surrey Wildlife Trust (SWT). To achieve our mission we need to grow investment in conservation. As Philanthropy Officer you will bring your expertise in Major Gift and Legacy Fundraising to the team at SWT, successfully growing our donor portfolio and cultivating and winning major gifts in line with agreed targets and the Fundraising Strategy.

You will work with the Head of Fundraising and Communications, and colleagues in the fundraising team, and across the Trust to evolve and continuously improve philanthropy activity.

This role is all about long-term relationship-building and will involve engaging with a wide range of supporters of SWT to take them on a journey and achieve key outcomes including;

· Identifying donor segments to tailor activity towards different areas of interest and levels of support

· Cultivating trust in SWT and the way in which it invests funds to restore and protect Surrey’s nature.

· Creating a sustainable pipeline of funding for SWT from major gifts and gifts in Wills.

The role provides an opportunity for an individual with existing experience in philanthropic fundraising to develop and to help shape the philanthropy programme at SWT.

Our offices are in Pirbright, Leatherhead and Wisley and our hybrid working policy aims to provide a good work/life balance which can incorporate partial home working.  The salary offered to successful applicants will form part of a benefits package including: above minimum pension contributions, life assurance of 4 x salary, employee support schemes, 22+ days holiday, flexible/hybrid working policy.

The Youth Development Lead is accountable for: 

• Providing ongoing operational, administrative and mentoring support to ensure the smooth and effective running of our youth engagement, including:

  • Organising and facilitating regular group meetings.

  • Ensuring forums for engagement are engaging, fun, and tap into youth motivation. 

  • Planning and executing team and community building activities.

  • Creating effective communication and collaboration channels with peers.

• Ensuring that the highest level of safeguarding is upheld in all interactions with the Youth Board and Ambassadors, including the securing of consent forms, training of the young people for social media and media appearances, as well as liaising with partners, schools and parents/guardians.

• Taking steps, alongside the Head of Youth Activist Development to enable every young person to act as key representative of Bite Back, ensuring their needs, ideas, and strategic thinking is fed into wider organisational plans. 

• Supporting the design and delivery of training to empower 90 youth activists to aid us in activating our campaigns activities in a multitude of settings including media, policy, social media and public affairs. 

• Working effectively alongside the Head of Youth Activist Development and our colleagues in Communications and Brand on the recruitment and onboarding of the Youth Board Members. 

• Leading regular evaluations of the Youth Board programme, securing feedback from the youth activists on their experiences, and providing recommendations to shape strategy and approach in the future. 

The Youth Development Lead works closely with the Head of Youth Activist Development to ensure that we can provide a consistent and uplifting pathway for our youth activists. 

Skills and Experience 

The ideal candidate would have the following: 

Essential

• Experience working in youth engagement programmes in the UK. 

• Experience in designing and leading programmes and governance structures to empower young people. 

• Great project management, administration and operations experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines to high quality. 

• Experience in building and maintaining partnerships (preferably with schools, youth networks and community groups).

• Outstanding people skills, with the ability to form strong relationships with young people.

• Excellent English language verbal and written communication skills. 

• Knowledge of key safeguarding principles.

Role Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of one of the world’s leading research and accountability initiatives for gender equality. You will join a small and growing team of staff working at GH5050, taking responsibility for the Global Health workstream. • Consultant management and liaison: Identify and recruit consultants, and provide training and guidance as required, for specific tasks to produce GH5050 outputs. Supervise consultants’ work to ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs. Liaise with consultants on various tasks during the report production process.

• Conduct research, data validation and analysis: Undertake research and data collection for reports and other outputs, including literature research on organisational policies and practices, policy content analysis and workforce data extraction.

• Supervise research. Be responsible for the supervision of research consultants and data collection team; . Implement processes for ensuring research quality and validity is maintained. Ensure the timely delivery of quality, validated outputs, including on statistical analysis, writing, data validation, data visualisation, graphic design and layout, and the production of dissemination and communications materials.

• Database management: Manage, validate and clean large and complex datasets.

• Stakeholder management: Be a trusted first point of contact for organisations who are reviewed as part of the GH5050 report. This includes preparing and distributing formal communications to CEOs / Board Chairs and a designated focal point within each organisation, responding to queries, and managing the process of data validation with organisations. Support and engage the Health Advisory Council to optimise its value add.  Ensure that the Head of Research and Impact, and other members of the leadership team as needed, is engaged at critical points in the research process, including the development of new indicators, the interpretation of the data and findings generation.

• Report production: Prepare drafts of reports including in collaboration with professional writers when appropriate, to identify the key messages and key findings, data visualisations, background and other written contributions, such as forewords and quotes. Liaise with web designers, who will build data validation platforms and a new website to host the reports, and report design teams.

• Partnership building and management: Be responsible for ensuring a productive and equitable relationship with research and partners, and advisory/expert groups. Prepare reports for Trustees and funders.

• High-impact communication and dissemination: Work closely with the GH5050 communications lead as well as an external communications partner(s) to develop strategic communication and dissemination strategies for these research outputs. This includes preparing compelling key findings and messages from report research and developing a range of additional communications outputs for key stakeholders including launch events, presentations, policy briefs, op-eds and papers for peer-reviewed publications and ensuring the delivery of public events and launches. 

• Internal communications: Take responsibility for maintaining regular and comprehensive internal communications within the charity, reporting on progress and flagging any risks or challenges to project timelines. 

• While peer-reviewed publications are not a primary aim of GH5050, we encourage our researchers to publish in the academic literature and when they do so to practise equitable partnership practices in relation to authorship.

Person specification 

• PhD level qualification preferred. If Masters level qualification then equivalent and demonstrable relevant professional level experience 

• Experience conducting mixed methods research, including innovative methods of data collection, indicator development, database management, and qualitative and quantitative analysis and interpretation

• Experience in research project management, ideally within an academic or policy environment

• Experience in policy analysis and developing recommendations based on this analysis

• Knowledge of the global health landscape, and ideally a good understanding of the key issues relating to gender and equality of opportunity in the workplace, global development and organisational change 

• An emerging thought leader in the field of global health

• A network in the health sector which extends beyond academic actors to practitioners and thought leaders

• Experience in statistical programming (e.g. use of R) would be an advantage.

• Knowledge of gender and its relationship to: (i) the health sector; (ii) and/or the research/evidence methods in (e.g. policy analysis); (iii) and/or approaches to organisational change, would be an advantage.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and experience producing clear, concise, engaging and evidence-led written outputs such as reports, policy briefs, academic papers and op-eds

• Experience of effectively managing a team, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative professional relationships with a wide range of partners across diverse contexts, including whilst working remotely 

• Experience working independently and effective decision making to manage competing priorities and ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard 

• High level of proficiency in MS Excel and experience in using a wide range of software, including data visualisation packages

You will join a fast-growing organisation that started in 2019 with four volunteers and has grown to a staff team of nineteen (with more recruitment in the pipeline for 2024), over 1,000 volunteers and ownership of nearly 600 acres of land that will grow woodlands of over 160,000 trees.

We are looking for an experienced communications professional with exceptional media experience and editorial skills.

ANT has a broad and varied network of audiences; stakeholders, partners, landowner and  fundraising supporters.

You will help take our impact to the next level by inspiring and influencing others to follow us in our ambitious plans for change.

Main responsibilities

• Work with the Head of Engagement, Communications and Fundraising to develop a new Communications strategy for the organisation

  • As part of this work, look at an overall approach that will guide stakeholder engagement plans for individual projects. This will cover local landowners, project partners, governmental bodies, NGO stakeholders

• Building the narrative & telling stories

  • Develop messaging that captures the imagination of our different audiences - around the scale and ambition of our projects, their innovative aspects

  • Translate complex projects & partnerships into simple, compelling ideas

  • Work with woodland project teams & land managers to identify stories from our habitats that will bring the positive impact of our work to life

  • Coordinate with our Impact & Knowledge lead on our latest impact data and case studies. Present key points to audiences in an accessible way and tell a compelling before-and-after story

• Maximise our media coverage

  • Generate local & national media coverage to build awareness of our projects, in response to external developments where appropriate

  • Work with partner organisations to produce mutually beneficial stories, leveraging their networks and resources

  • Work with the fundraising team to promote our fundraising pushes, in particular our project-based crowdfunding campaigns

  • Help prepare statements and presentations for the CEO

As our Interim co-director: campaigns & communications you’ll support and oversee a team of talented campaigners and communicators delivering our vision of a zero carbon Britain built by, and for, everyone. You’ll lend your strategic expertise to ensure that our mission of inspiring people to take the action the climate crisis demands is fine tuned to the real opportunities and challenges that surround us. You’ll contribute your creativity to translating climate urgency into socially just and workable proposals the public can get behind - and get stuck into. And you’ll bring your expertise in organisational leadership to bear on our collective leadership model, responding to an ever shifting context while contributing to our strategic development.

This interim role is designed to cover a 12 month parental leave period, and will join during a period of wider organisational change. This creates opportunities for impact, but presents challenges too. You’ll therefore be someone who is comfortable working within organisational change, is able to adapt quickly to new circumstances, take initiative - and sees themselves as a team player.

The role sits within a collaborative leadership team, comprising two Co-directors until July 2025, and three from July-November 2025 (due to a Co-director returning from sabbatical). The Co-directors are jointly responsible for the strategic, efficient, sustainable and impactful running - and development - of the organisation, with each being assigned specific areas of accountability across key functions.

Weston Hospicecare is seeking a passionate and self-motivated fundraiser to develop and grow our Legacy and In Memory fundraising activity.  This is an important area of income for the Hospice, and we are looking for someone who can either bring their existing expertise to this role or who is keen to develop their current fundraising experience within legacy fundraising.

To be successful in this role, we’re looking for someone who will:

· Lead on the development of Weston Hospicecare’s Legacy and In Memory fundraising strategy, using your expertise to analyse activity and grow this area of income, building the financial resilience of the Hospice.

· Inspire support by developing a compelling Legacy fundraising proposition to encourage support from existing and new supporters.

· Deliver results through inspiring communications and promotional activity, bringing to life the extraordinary work of Weston Hospicecare and driving legacy pledges and support.

· Build strong relationships with a range of people, including local firms of solicitors, supporters, patients and their families and members of the team.

· Utilise your exceptional attention to detail and expert knowledge to monitor and administer existing estates, working with solicitors and executors to expedite settlement and where possible, accurately predict timelines for income.

· Provide excellent stewardship to existing supporters and pledgers through regular updates and inspiring events to demonstrate the impact of support and develop and nurture these important relationships.

· Devise an effective In Memory strategy to build upon and support this area, monitoring existing opportunities and developing new activity. Sensitively use personal stories, images and testimonials to strengthen this key area of income and offering a lasting tribute for families.

· Amplify the work of the team through sharing ideas and knowledge. Keeping up to date with sector developments and ensure best practice across all Legacy and In Memory fundraising activity.

· Work with an ambitious, positive and creative approach, with experience in working collaboratively organisation wide.
