About the role

Breast Cancer Now’s life-saving research and essential support services are only possible because of our amazing supporters. The supporter experience manager will help to ensure all Breast Cancer Now supporters have brilliant experiences with us. This means supporters are thanked properly, kept up to date about the impact of their support and given interesting, relevant opportunities to support again. This varied role will work with teams across the organization to share supporter insight, embed best practice, and create consistency. You’ll be leading mystery shopping, running workshops with teams and creating resources. Your role will have a particular emphasis on working to make sure individual giving supporters are well looked after.

About you

The successful candidate will be passionate about championing supporters’ wants, needs and preferences, advocating for supporters to be considered at every turn. You’ll have worked on activities to improve supporter or customer experience previously, whether in a charity or company. You’ll be confident in managing projects which involve multiple teams, and most importantly you’ll be able to get people excited about experience.

As part of this work, our Insights and Engagement Team engages a wide range of people in the Trust’s vision for Gloucestershire, and our Learning and Events Coordinator is integral to this.

We are looking for a Learning and Events Coordinator to provide coordination and administration support for Barnwood Trust’s internal learning programme, engaging staff and Trustees in individual, team and organisation-wide learning and development activities and events.

Contract terms:

• Experience in the financial management of grants from institutional donors within the International Aid Sector. 
• Experience of managing restricted expenditure and reporting to institutional donors.

In 2023, we launched an online information hub for our carers where they can find out about services that can support them in their journey. This currently sits separate to our main site. We are now working with Studio24 to bring these sites together, to create a unified user experience, with new website functionality. A key consideration for this development is our recent Department for Education contract to deliver high quality training to carers across England. As part of this service, we must ensure that carers can seamlessly book online or face-to-face training through our website. Additionally, they should have access to a wide range of online information and advice content. While some of this functionality exists within our current digital estate, not all of it does and there is room for improvement. Therefore, the redevelopment project aims to create a cohesive website experience with clear user journeys and new functionality.

The type of person we’re looking for:

We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in project management and UX. You will be experienced in managing complex digital projects throughout their lifecycle. You will be able to work collaboratively and have excellent communication skills to engage both internal and external stakeholders. You will have a genuine passion for working with and involving users in meaningful ways and have a particular interest in accessible and inclusive design. • Keep up to date on new rules and ways of working in the grant and commercial contracting sector, and share important intel with colleagues.
• Collaborate with relevant colleagues to sharpen Alert’s offer, and ensure Alert has up-to-date capacity statements in all relevant areas.
• Support colleagues to ensure the CRM and the organisational pipeline are kept up to date with all new relevant information.

Support to country and global programme teams

• In line with resource allocation decisions led by the Head of Fundraising, provide support to country hubs and global programmes teams to design and secure high quality peacebuilding programmes, including mapping, research, identifying and engaging directly with donors, writing proposals and designing appropriate budgets, and supporting country hubs to undertake all of these tasks.
• Provide donor-specific guidance to support strategic go/no go decision making, effective targeting and tailoring of bids and ensure donor compliance.
• Support country hubs and global programme teams to ensure submission of full cost recovery budgets, including advising on adequate personnel resourcing of activities, and country and global shared cost recovery.
• Provide training and learning opportunities for colleagues on specific aspects of fundraising, including specific donor requirements for grants, commercial contracts and full cost recovery budget design.

Bid, framework and consortium coordination

• Coordinate the bid development process for global grant funding or global commercial tender opportunities including programme delivery contracts, framework bids and consultancies.
• Provide written inputs to proposals and tender documents and gather relevant information including CVs and documents to demonstrate compliance.
• Work closely with finance colleagues to ensure quality financial/commercial proposals in line with donor, organisational and legal requirements.
• Where required, act as coordinator for any framework agreements, ensuring all key stakeholders have timely access to information and facilitating quality tender submissions, and any other framework requirements, including monitoring, reporting, donor and consortium liaison, contracting, developing capacity statements.
• Monitor and share draw down opportunities, facilitating go/no-go processes and ensuring compliance with agreed timeframes.

Organisational contributions

• Contribute to internal communications and knowledge management, ensuring these are adopted by country hubs, and participate in organisation-wide events and discussions.
• Occasionally supervise volunteers and procure and monitor the work of consultants as required.
• Undertake any other tasks commensurate with the role, as required by the Head of Fundraising.

The job

We’re looking for someone to wear two hats. 

The first hat you’ll wear is that of a client lead. You’ll have full responsibility for the clients and projects that you and your team are working on. One day you might be working on ocean policy campaigns, helping technical clients adapt their language to make it engaging and influential, and in doing so helping to push the ocean agenda forward. The next you could be working with a not-for-profit, leading the creation of their brand identity, marketing strategy and overseeing the launch of their new website. 

We’re on the hunt for a seasoned communications strategist and a creative campaigner. You’ll be someone who feels at home bringing your knowledge and experience to any communications challenge: from campaign strategy to brand strategy, from policy communications to digital marketing.

You should be a creative thinker, a problem solver, and someone who knows how to run projects profitably – and grow client relationships at the same time. You’ll be able to build relationships quickly, with clients and colleagues. You’ll spot mistakes, tactfully ask difficult questions, and tell us and our clients how to improve things.

The second hat you’ll wear is that of a new business lead. You’ll work with the CEO, Head of Strategy and other colleagues to identify, respond to, and win new business opportunities. We’re looking for someone who has directly relevant experience here – so you’ll have had experience in new business for an agency or consultancy, or have supported that function.

You’ll have experience responding to RFPs (and hopefully winning them – definitely tell us if you have a good hit rate), you’ll be excited by the idea of travelling abroad to give presentations to prospects and convert them to clients, and you’ll have ideas about how we can improve our marketing to generate more inbound leads. Where some see new business efforts as taxing and draining, you’ll be energised by it, and see new business as a game that is fun to play, and win.

Key skills and experience

The core things we are looking for are:

• Minimum 6 years experience, with at least three years in an equivalent agency setting
• Have communications expertise in creating stories, shaping narratives and social/policy campaigns and/or public affairs
• Experience and expertise in brand communications and/or strategy development
• Ability to produce creative and engaging communication materials: reports, websites, social media and print

We’re also looking for a mix of the below. We don’t expect you to have all of them, but you should be nodding to most of the things on the lists below.

Project management

• Excellent account and project management skills 
• Finding creative solutions to complex problems
• Ability to break down large strategy and campaign projects into phased deliverables, guiding clients through the process
• Strong timeline and budget management skills 
• Ability to identify areas of improvement/efficiencies, for yourself and your team, both in terms of process, training, and any other areas you identify

Team management

• Experience managing a team, growing their skills and ability (this role will have line management responsibilities)
• Onboarding new team members 
• On an ongoing basis, identify future recruits for the company/build a wide network around the industry

Thought leadership

• Write thought leadership articles for the CFC website, at least once per quarter, ideally one a month promoting our thinking and best practices
• Participate in CFC training and knowledge sharing (webinars etc.) 
• Attend events and conferences on behalf of the company

New business & sales

• Identify and respond to appropriate RFPs; lead pitch approaches
• Identify opportunities for future work with existing clients, write proposals to win that work
• Identify and pursue new leads
• Identify and shape new product offerings to take to market

What the job involves

We’re looking for a Community Awareness and Engagement Manager to join our Policy and Health Influencing Team and support volunteers raising awareness of prostate cancer in their communities. 

Alongside engaging volunteers speaking about their lived experience and hosting information stands, you’ll be delivering our new Lifesaving Conversations programme, giving volunteers the tools and confidence to raise awareness of prostate cancer risk in an informal way.

We use our knowledge to influence and reduce racial health inequalities across the UK and the world to save the lives of men, and more Black men, who are at double the risk of prostate cancer as the general population. You’ll manage the Black health equity engagement team whose main responsibility currently is to increase awareness, trust and engagement with Black communities, requesting volunteers to reflect the increased risk and impact of prostate cancer on Black men. 

You’ll develop and manage relationships with key stakeholder groups to deliver a programme of community awareness and engagement around the risk of prostate cancer. You’ll also be providing role specific training to volunteers ensuring they have the tools to reach and engage with men most impacted by prostate cancer. 

Collaboration is an important aspect of the role as you partner with Health Services, Equity and Improvement colleagues where Lifesaving Conversations and community awareness volunteers can support strategic objectives. You’ll also work with our Partnerships Team to deliver an income generating corporate awareness offer.

Working closely with the Volunteer Experience Manager, you’ll have input in communications, supporter journeys and developing community networks for volunteers. You’ll evaluate the impact of our work in engagement and awareness to increase our impact.

This is a rewarding role where you’ll get to meet volunteers and supporters and see first-hand the work of Prostate Cancer UK. Together we are supporting and raising awareness of the impact of prostate cancer, providing men with the knowledge of their risk and the power to act on it. 

What we want from you

To be successful in this role you’ll have excellent knowledge and experience of leading and managing cross-organisational programmes and projects.

You’ll have strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing and be able to adapt to suit your audience from volunteers to health professionals. You’ll also be able to successfully build relationships and feel comfortable with engaging communities and stakeholders.

You’ll work closely with volunteers and keep the end user in mind so have to be able to show previous experience in user involvement, putting customers at the heart of project planning and delivery with a passion for inclusion and accessibility.

Knowledge of, or previous experience in health campaigns and volunteering within the charity sector will be beneficial for this role but we also recognise transferable skills from other sectors. In this role you’ll also be meeting members of the community and their families who have experienced the impact of prostate cancer and empathy, and understanding will be crucial to this role.

We are looking for a friendly and dynamic fundraiser to join our team and manage our Trust and Foundation applications. We need someone who cares and who wants to make a real difference, ideally with a disability background or a working knowledge of disability issues.

The Thames Valley Adventure Playground (TVAP) is run by the CIO Trustees and through their Playworkers and support staff provides safe and stimulating play and learning opportunities for over 25,000 visiting families and individuals with disabilities every year. TVAP also offers additional support to families through our respite and ancillary services.

TVAP is an inclusive adventure play space where siblings, friends of a child with additional needs and children from the local community are always welcome to come and join in the fun, play together and experience a special TVAP adventure.

This post is a unique opportunity for you to make a positive difference to thousands of individuals living with disabilities. The working hours will be a flexible 16 hours per week and the post is offered for an initial period of 1 year, which will be renewable by mutual agreement.
