Summary of Role:
The Head of Donor Development & Impact is crucial in driving Choose Love's strategic and financial growth and impact. Choose Love has a fundraising target of approx. £20 million a year, this role plays a crucial part in securing those funds through donor development (approximately £5-10m) and specifically with Trusts & Foundations. Overview of this role
We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to set up robust systems, oversee all our financial operations and provide strategic financial planning to the director and board. You will work in partnership with our external accountants who provide annual audited accounts.
This new position will assist with streamlining current systems, setting up new processes, and supporting the director to achieve robust, transparent and accurate financial management for this new and ambitious art charity.

About the role

About the Team
The Programme Management Team, where the Senior Programme Manager (SPM) role sits, is part of the Programme Partnership department, which objective is to increase the quality of Save the Children's work through the design and delivery of impactful programmes and partnerships, strengthening the Movement, and empowering Country Offices (CO).
The Programme Management Team provides support to Save the Children country programmes in the quality management of programmes funded via Save the Children UK (SCUK). The team provides both a second-line quality assurance function, whilst aiming to strengthen the capacity of in-country teams in the effective management of SCUK's portfolio. The team operates as Save the Children UK's programmatic and geographic experts, providing advice and insight to the wider organisation on country contextual issues and maintaining strong relations with country and regional counterparts as well as our institutional, corporate and philanthropy donors.
About the role
The Senior Programme Manager (SPM) primary focus is to oversee the quality management of programmes and related awards (grants & contracts) that are part of a portfolio covering several COs or donors. The portfolio under the SPM's overall responsibility is a sub-set within our Western and Central Africa team.
This role involves both direct management of programmes and related awards implemented in specific country programmes or supported by particular corporate & philanthropy donor(s); and providing direction, support and technical advice to Programme Managers (PMs) working in the same portfolio sub-set. The SPM works with wide autonomy and decision-making capacity, both within their directly management portfolio as well as the portfolio sub-set, with regards to portfolio's risks, issues, and workload management.
Being responsible for several COs or corporate & philanthropy donors, the SPM plays a key role, and works very closely with the Programme Management Lead in the effective development and implementation of regional and partnership strategies; in identifying and addressing systemic risks and issues; in improving and creating new internal processes; and in ensuring the capacity building and professional development of PMs
In this role, you will:
Support to quality & impactful programming in Country Offices
- Develop strong a knowledge of in-country context and current issues, as well as of Save the Children's key programmatic themes and priorities, for the countries or programmes under their directly managed portfolio. Provide input to the Programme Management Lead and influencing SCUK funding strategies for the countries or programmes under their portfolio.
- Act as the point of reference within SCUK for any matter or question regarding the countries or programmes under their responsibility. Liaise with other SCUK teams on relevant areas of concern, particularly fostering close collaboration with staff in P&P, PQI, HD, Media and Communication and PAC.
- Contribute to the growth of COs funding portfolio and facilitate this is in line with their Country Strategic Plans (CSPs), by leading and working closely with the other teams in PP Strengthen and build capacities of CO staff, in coordination with the relevant SCI teams, particularly around quality programming and funding management and donor compliance.
- Develop a strong knowledge of donor's priorities and interests in the country(ies) under their responsibility. Develop and maintain relevant donor relationships, serving as the focal point for HQ-level donor staff, for the countries or programmes under their directly managed portfolio.
Lead business development, award management and donor compliance assurance
- Monitor and oversight of all SCUK-supported programmes for the countries or programmes under their directly managed portfolio, including identifying related risks and managing issues.
- Grant and contract management, from point of contract negotiation and signature, to quality assurance during implementation, and working with other SCUK departments to support reporting. Ensure awards in the portfolio are compliant with donor requirements and SC quality standards
- Provide support to COs in meeting key programme deliverables, as well as other donor expectations.
- Ensure relevant quality assurance processes are completed so that programmes are running effectively and on time.
- Identify new funding opportunities, as follow-on from existing awards and/or as part of the day-to-day interaction with donors. Provide input in or lead on bid management for SCUK institutional and non-institutional proposals
- Direct representation role with counterparts in SCUK, donor organisations, partner and NGO networks in relation to awards portfolio and pipeline.
Funding portfolio sub-set oversight
- Provide oversight, support and prioritisation for the management of the portfolio sub-set under their responsibility, acting as first point of senior advice and decision-making on complex issues, involving medium to low risk, brought forward by the PMs working in the same portfolio sub-set.
- Monitor risks and issues developments within the portfolio sub-set, making sure that the Programme Management Lead and PP senior management are aware and fully briefed of issues requiring major strategic decisions.
- Approve and sign-off opportunities and documents, as per delegated authority, within the portfolio sub-set.
- Provide input to the Programme Management Lead and ROs in resource mobilisation strategies for COs and donors within the portfolio sub-set, making sure that agreed priorities are implemented by PMs, as well as other teams, working in the portfolio sub-set.
- Monitor KPIs and other data related to programme and funding management, providing analysis to relevant stakeholders.
People management
- Provide effective and timely day-to-day support and manage workload for PMs working in the portfolio sub-set under the SPM's responsibility (‘work management'), as part of matrix management with the Programme Management Lead. Contribute to setting annual objectives and priorities and provide input in annual reviews.
About you
It is important that you have:
- Extensive experience in project and grant/contract management, with knowledge of institutional donor compliance requirements
- Extensive experience working with institutional donors such as FCDO, UN and multilateral agencies (e.g. UNICEF, OCHA, World Bank), particularly on proposal development and report writing.
- Experience in Payment by Result and/or Outcome based contracts an asset.
- Significant experience of working in the international aid sector, including in overseas roles, with practical experience and understanding of related contextual and operational issues. Good working knowledge of one or more countries supported by SCUK
- Strong working knowledge of international development/humanitarian issues.
- Significant financial processes and reporting skills
- Experience of establishing strong working relationships with colleagues from different organisations, functions, and cultures, often remotely.
- Ability to manage a complex and varied workload, in order to organise and prioritise multiple tasks efficiently, manage reactive and proactive work, and deliver tasks to tight deadlines.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify and implement effective processes for achieving outcomes.
- Proven attention for detail and ability to effectively manage a high volume of data and information.
- Very strong team skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and collaborate both within and outside the team
- Fluent in French & English (Speaking & writing) is essential

The Job
Tiko is a fast-growing and ambitious African non-profit linking vulnerable girls and women to sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence support services in Sub-Saharan Africa via our innovative digital platform. A recent transformational multi-million pound grant is kick-starting us on our way to taking our fundraising and our organization to the next level. As such, we are looking for a experienced, driven New Business Development Lead with a solid track record in personally securing 6 – 7 figure grants from new donors, whether government, institutional, INGOs and/or large trusts and foundations, to join our NBD team.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven ability to:
- Conduct prospect research to identify and qualify high quality new donor leads for Tiko and proactively track and respond to large funding opportunities and RFPs, helping us continuously build and enhance our prospect pipeline
- Carry out detailed research and mappings to identify existing links with potential donors, whether through our leadership, Board, donors etc. and recommend pathways to relationship building
- Lead and manage the full proposal development process - from identification of the funding opportunity and detailed review of eligibility/suitability to assess our likelihood of success, through to creating buy-in around responsibilities and timelines, motivating and organizing internal stakeholders, guiding players through every step in the proposal process, gathering inputs from technical leads, working with finance teams on budget development, creating supplementary materials, to rolling up your sleeves and writing the proposal and supporting documents as required (Theories of Change, Risk Matrices, Log Frames etc.).
- Deliver significant funding from new donors (candidates will be expected to show evidence of winning funding of a minimum of 6 figures)
- Create high quality fundraising materials tailored to the needs of specific donor audiences e.g. concept notes, slide decks etc.
- Support the systematization and increased efficiency of fundraising at Tiko through timely updating of Salesforce, and general best practice usage of our tools and project management system (Asana).
We are open to remote work for this position and will happily accept applicants from the UK, Kenya, and South Africa, with a preference that the postholder joins their team in their local office one day a week.
About You
You have a deep passion for using your skills in leveraging funding to make the world a better, more equitable place, and an ability to balance big picture, strategic thinking and design with getting tangible activities operationalised. Specifically:
- You are an exceptional writer, with an ability to produce compelling proposals, tailored to the specific needs and interests of different donors. These might be technical, institutional bids, requiring ToCs, logframes etc, ‘Big Bet’ pitches which will rely on powerful storytelling or applications to large foundations, among others.
- Sitting within the small but growing NBD team, you are nonetheless comfortable working autonomously (with the role being majority remote), while building the connections needed across our global team to get the information you need to raise funds for Tiko.
- You are comfortable working in an organisation that is fast-paced and experiencing significant growth. You show flexibility and resilience as structures, processes and ways of working evolve.
- You are confident in managing competing priorities while meeting both internal and external deadlines and flexible enough to juggle your work where opportunities come in at the last minute.
- You are an excellent communicator, able to effectively tell our story and market our offerings in a compelling way, engaging partners, and donors, and inspiring them to support Tiko.
Experience and Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a fundraising role(s), with a preference for experience in institutional, trust/foundation and/or Big Bet philanthropy, and evidence of personal track record in bringing in new funding.
- Experience working for an international development NGO is desirable, particularly in the space of SRH, SGBV and/or women and girls’ rights more broadly.
- Willingness to join the team in the local office ideally one day per week and for occasional international travel (1 - 2 weeks per year)

The Rewards

Role Description
The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) will lead in the development and implementation of the Cathedral's financial strategy and objectives, providing expert financial guidance and support to Chapter and senior colleagues to develop strategy to deliver Chapter's vision. The postholder will ensure law and regulatory compliance and that all aspects of financial planning and management are conducted to provide accurate, relevant and timely financial information to the Cathedral, Chapter and St Edmundsbury Cathedral Trust and Enterprises Ltd.
The CFO will play a lead role in advising the Chair of Finance and Chapter. They will attend all Chapter and Finance Committee meetings.
The CFO is a member of the Cathedral's Senior Management Team and will deputise for the Chief Operating Officer (COO) on occasions.
Key Responsibilities
The CFO will support the Facilities Manager in the development of the Cathedral's Property portfolio and our Net Zero Carbon Strategy.
Strategic:
- Overall responsibility for the finance function ensuring the accurate and timely presentation of management accounts, budgets and cashflow reports and annual accounts for the Cathedral and Enterprises.
- Work with the COO and senior members of staff and clergy in developing the Cathedral’s commercial strategy and delivery of Cathedral Master Plan.
- Providing strategic business planning support to all commercial and charitable operations.
- Be a part of the Senior Management Team taking a leadership role across the whole of the organisation, supporting Chapter and Heads of Departments, and working constructively with the COO and Chair of Finance, Finance committee and Risk Audit and Review committee.

- To ensure that the Cathedral's restricted funds and investments are effectively managed and accessible to support cash flow or key projects as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, financial policies, regulations and all relevant legal frameworks, together with appropriate management and financial controls and reconciliations are in place, and that the Cathedral has effective banking arrangements.
- Critically assess whether the Cathedral’s accounting software SAGE is appropriate and fit for purpose.
- Support departments across the Cathedral with project development by advising on financial and commercial plans and help develop capital projects and generate business cases and financial forecasts for major developments, undertaking effective tendering for works, and to fulfil the reporting requirements, and their terms and conditions, for donors and grant-making bodies.
- Work with the COO to effectively manage contracts held by the Cathedral (e.g. maintenance, utilities, IT, etc) and ensure value for money.
- Be the lead liaison on the Cathedral’s relationship with our Bankers, Insurers and Investment Managers.
- To support the COO and Director of Enterprises in ensuring that the activities carried out by Enterprises are properly costed, and that all business plans are robust, generating positive returns, with stocks correctly accounted for, reducing the risks wherever possible.
- To ensure the Cathedral invests and prioritises its commitment to the Cathedral's Net Zero strategy.
Governance:
- Attend Chapter meetings and provide regular written and verbal reports.
- Work with the Chair of Finance, Dean and COO to ensure that management information is presented in a transparent way that enables strategic decisions to be taken by Chapter.
- Attend the Finance Committee meetings, liaising with the Chair of Finance to ensure the committee functions well with papers being sent out in a timely way.

The Abbey of St Edmund: a Millennium of English History of West Suffolk:
St Edmundsbury Cathedral along with its partners West Suffolk Council and English Heritage have been awarded a grant by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Surrey Community Action exists to support Surrey’s voluntary sector, the diverse communities of Surrey, and other organisations who seek to work with both. We do this in three main ways:

The Nuts and Bolts
Our offices are in Burpham, Surrey (GU4 7HL). This role can be delivered from the office, or as a hybrid role with 2-3 days in the office per week.

The school is academically non-selective and provides an excellent range of facilities and extra-curricular opportunities, recently achieving "Excellent" in the FCI/EQI (February 2023). The successful candidate will be able to:
·Collaborate with the Director of Marketing, Admissions and Communications to create a fundraising strategy centred on capital projects and bursaries.
·Lead personal engagement fundraising, developing strategies for securing principal and major donors.
·Meet annual personal income targets, increasing both donor numbers and regular giving income.
·Monitor and report on fundraising income, events, and activities, including producing financial reports.
·Design and manage a program of events aimed at engaging Ackworth School Old Scholars and wider Ackworth School community members.
·Develop robust data sets to inform strategic goals, particularly those related to income generation and maintain detailed records of Old Scholars and donors, building comprehensive individual profiles in the contact database.
