Job Information

We have received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to deliver an exciting new programme, aiming to improve the experience and continuity of hospice care for young people with life-limiting conditions transitioning from children's to adult services.

You will provide clinical leadership of this UK-wide programme, empowering young people, hospices and system partners to overcome the inequities of care experienced by patients and families throughout this transition. 

You will become a crucial part of the Programmes Directorate at Hospice UK. This team is responsible for areas of real relevance and importance to our hospices’ membership, including: commissioning support; data, research and evidence; clinical and non-clinical projects; learning platforms: sharing good practice; and a well-regarded and commercially successful portfolio of conferences, including our flagship national conference.

You will bring the clinical leadership needed to deliver this exciting new programme. You will lead our young person’s forum and provide invaluable mentorship to hospices. Supported throughout by our Senior Programme Manager and Team Administrator, you will further develop our Transition Community of Practice and help us collate and share programme data across the sector. You will lead on partnerships and strategic relationships, with Together for Short Lives and other decision-makers across our sector. When representing Hospice UK and our programme externally, you will offer clinical expertise leadership within the field of Transition. 

You will have senior palliative care experience, working in the field of transition. You will have led clinical programmes across systems and/or regions, and experience supporting organisations with Quality Improvement projects. You will be an excellent and influential communicator, who embraces working with data while maintaining a strategic overview.

Income Generation

• Drive online income generation through effective use of digital fundraising platforms, social media, and supporter journeys.
• Optimise and manage digital giving platforms, such as Funraisin, to increase donations and supporter engagement.

The SS Great Britian Trust is seeking a12-month, maternity cover, Development Manager to play a key role in maximising income for the SS Great Britain Trust through Corporate, Trust and individual fundraising. SMART CJS is seeking a skilled and experienced Trusts and Foundations Bid Writer to play a key role in generating income from charitable trusts, foundations, and statutory funders. We’re looking for someone with a proven track record of writing successful funding applications and identifying new opportunities that align with SMART’s strategic goals in tackling homelessness and supporting vulnerable individuals in Bedford and the surrounding area.

Income generation

· Raise voluntary unrestricted and restricted income through submission of high-quality proposals (60% of time)

Key Responsibilities:

• Through comprehensive and considered research, you’ll outline a sustainable and achievable fundraising strategy that identifies and prioritises a pool of potential grant giving trusts and foundations funders for GFB. Your work will demonstrate your commitment to excellence. 
• You will manage the ongoing relationships with grant giving trusts and foundations funders, ensuring they receive excellent stewardship, timely reporting and that GFB is able to maximise its existing potential funding streams.
• In this role, you will forge relationships with potential funders, develop and submit timely and winning funding applications and work alongside GFB’s impact and operations team to provide relevant and impactful feedback to funders. 
• You will proactively identify, engage and build good relationships with prospective corporate donors, successfully securing them as funding partners. 
• You will deepen engagement and grow the relationships, partnerships and collaborative potential with existing corporate donors.
• Working with colleagues across GFB, you will develop authentic, compelling, creative and winning funding and partnership proposals that can successfully engage prospective partners through the alignment of our values, vision and strategic work with their needs, motivations and areas of interests. Alongside this you will engage potential funders in our Changing Minds work as we seek to change the conversation on food poverty in our area to a proactive and preventative rather than reactive approach. 
• You will work collaboratively with other local organisations and Trussell affiliated food banks across London and the South East, identifying and progressing opportunities for joint funding proposals and partnerships. 
• You will develop, monitor and manage a fundraising portfolio capable of generating an income that not only covers our annual charitable operating spend but also follows a fundraising framework that sustainably allows Greenwich Foodbank as an organisation to reach its strategic goals.
• You’ll establish a fundraising pipeline, including a range of KPIs that can be tracked and that will enable you to make informed projections regarding future income. 
• You will forge strong relationships with stakeholders across the local community and the wider Trussell network, sharing best practice and learning from other charities across the network. About FILE

The Foundation for International Law for the Environment (FILE) is a not-for-profit philanthropic organisation working to accelerate legal action on climate change. 

Through grant-making and in-house legal expertise, we empower our partners to deliver strategic, innovative legal interventions and we support lawyers in their own countries to bring their own cases. 

Legal action can unlock the systemic changes in finance, policy and social systems needed to protect all of us from climate change. The power of the law is both direct (changing policy and practice) and indirect (signalling the wider shifts taking place across these systems).

FILE is a ‘regrantor’ - this means we do not bring legal action in our own name. We receive grants from our philanthropic donors (a small group of like-minded climate foundations) and make onwards grants to partners who align with FILE’s charitable aims and purposes. We do not seek to make any profit from our activities either in a relevant financial year or in the longer term.
 

The Role

This exciting new role will have primary leadership of FILE’s regional strategy within Europe. It is a rare opportunity for an experienced, knowledgeable strategist and leaders to apply their understanding of how civil society can drive impact on climate, nature, and justice through legal and associated narrative and movement strategies in Europe.

This will include representing FILE at a senior level with funders, partners and our peer re-grantors, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with FILE’s European grantees.

It is a key strategic role within FILE, sitting alongside our other Regional Directors, reporting to FILE’s Director of Program Strategy, and with key relationships with other senior members of the Strategy team and other FILE departments.

FILE’s work in Europe is focused on driving governments’ ambition on, as well as holding corporations accountable for their major contributions to, the interconnected crises of climate, nature, and environmental justice. Given Europe’s position as a major economy, with global supply chains, there are strong connections between our work in Europe and our partners and communities in the Global South. 

Key Responsibilities

Each of these is conducted in close collaboration with relevant colleagues across FILE’s strategy teams, as well as FILE’s Research, Impact, and Learning, Grant Management, and Philanthropic Partnerships teams:

• Leading development and implementation of FILE’s Europe strategy, supporting civil society to build for legal, narrative, and movement-building strategies to address the climate and nature crises and in pursuit of environmental justice 
• This includes integrating  climate, nature, and justice priorities appropriately into FILE’s Europe strategy - including a focus on finance, corporate accountability and supply chains, and driving governmental ambition 
• Identifying new grantees, shaping grant-making priorities, and stewarding grantees through the grant-making process, as well as supporting existing grantees including with respect to issues of safety, security, and resilience 
• Supporting the expansion of the community of practitioners to reinforce legal capacity, generating innovation and learning, proactively influencing global legal action and sharing knowledge of impact and learning 
• Convening meetings of strategic partners to discuss key European priorities 
• Performing a leadership role within philanthropy to deepen the understanding of philanthropy of strategic priorities for addressing the climate, nature, and justice crises in Europe in a just and equitable manner

About you

• A developed understanding of the power dynamics within climate, nature, and justice movements in a European context, as well as funder positionality and responsibility.
• A professional standard of written and spoken English 

Desirable 

• Legal qualifications, bar membership, or legal practice certificate (or equivalent) in a relevant European jurisdiction
• Experience of building and / or maintaining external networks, bringing expert practitioners and / or civil society together 
• A professional standard of other major European languages could be useful, but is not essential, as we typically find our European partners are comfortable working in English

As Bid Writer, you will work with the team to identify funding opportunities, and craft compelling bids and proposals that clearly articulate our vision, services, and value to commissioners and funders.
