We are recruiting a Centre Manager for Malvern Cube.  This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and community aware person with excellent people skills to manage the Centre and lead our further development.

Malvern Cube is an exciting volunteer led community and arts centre run by Malvern Youth and Community Trust, a registered charity.  At Malvern Cube, our mission is to offer an inclusive environment for Malvern people where they can come together and share a feeling of community.  We do this by:

• Managing Malvern Cube to be an affordable, versatile and sustainable space.

We hire rooms to individuals, groups and clubs for educational, social and therapeutic purposes and our clientele are aged from 0 - 104!  Our annual footfall is around 3,000 (and growing!), and we have over 50 classes and activities running each week.  Our theatre space is well used by a variety of both well-known and amateur performers and we have three resident theatre groups.  We are proud of our in-house cafe, The Garden Cafe, which prepares nutritious, affordable and delicious food fresh on site every weekday, using locally sourced ingredients.  And our sister charity, Cube Youth, provides regular youth club activities and a Youth Café.

As well as our Centre Manager, the staff team includes our Administration Manager, caretaker and cafe staff.  We also have a great team of volunteers, and a strong Board of Trustees responsible for the governance of the charity. We receive no external funding and operate largely from hire income and successful applications for grant funding.

The role

As Centre Manager, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of this busy, vibrant community centre and engaging with the community and hirers to present a welcoming, friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Your role will include:

• promoting Malvern Cube and what it offers, developing and maintaining a strong community presence and ensuring that the facilities are well used and hire income is maximised.
• ensuring the effective robust financial management of Malvern Cube and providing regular financial reports to trustees.
• leading and developing the staff and volunteer teams
• contributing to the development of Malvern Cube's strategic plan and leading on key aspects of its implementation.
• day-to-day interface with centre users, hirers and the general public.

Fundraising and Communications Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate advocate to join the charity developing and contributing to a comprehensive fundraising strategy, focusing on Trusts and Foundations.

This is a hybrid-working role offering flexible working hours.

Position: Fundraising and Communications Manager

Location: Chatham, Kent/hybrid (minimum 2 days per week in the office)

The Role

Funding from Trusts and Foundations is critical to the sustainability of the organisation. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring sufficient funding for the sustainability of the charity and its core activities by maintaining and developing current relationships with funders as well as generating additional income to meet targets. 

As Fundraising and Communications Manager, you will also be the lead for the communication strategy, and line manage the Communications Officer and enhance the charity’s visibility and engagement with donors and other audiences. The role will be weighted towards income generation.

About You

You will have experience within fundraising, communications or marketing with proven experience writing successful grant applications, meeting targets and managing relationships with funders.

You will have experience of

· Trust and foundation fundraising

· Strategic fundraising planning, including income forecasting, and performance monitoring.

· Developing content for various platforms (website, social media, newsletters).

· Managing workloads, including the ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.

You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to craft compelling and persuasive proposals and reports and the ability to produce high quality written materials tailored to different audiences.

The Schools Project Officer is a crucial business administrative role at the Diocese, as you will act as the first point of contact for projects concerning the development and maintenance of school sites and buildings, from senior leaders, governors, parish officers or our professional advisers.

Reporting to the Schools Officer and working within the Children, Young People and Education team, you will support the oversight of related grant funding and manage other bespoke projects such as promoting decarbonisation initiatives for church schools and organising land registrations. You will also advise school leaders and governors in relation to school organisation and the use or development of land and buildings.

As Schools Project Officer, you will act as facilitator between various internal and external teams, providing support through monitoring projects relating to school estates (building developments, maintenance and repairs), whilst making proactive enquiries and interventions to sustain progress against recorded timescales.

You will also take responsibility for managing grants held by the Diocese and liaising with schools regarding suitable projects and available funding, helping schools to prioritise projects for effective estate management.

A crucial part of our strategy is to assess the environmental impact of the Diocese’s church schools, planning for and supporting schools to advance decarbonisation and energy efficiency projects. As Schools Project Officer you will regularly update and signpost church schools to banks of practical materials and resources for decarbonisation campaigns, toolkits and projects, building case studies of best practice.

With an understanding of or experience in business administration, estate management or project support, you should be capable of supporting projects and have the ability to apply understanding to tasks. Capable of summarising complex information clearly, you should be able to explain the progress of projects to those with no specialist understanding.

Forward thinking, adaptable and responsive to a varied work programme, you should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have evidence of recent study, training or development and a willingness to learn new knowledge and technical skills.

It is essential for you to be supportive of the vision of the CYPE team and to be sympathetic to the contribution of Church of England schools to Christian mission.

The ability to travel and a willingness to attend occasional evening and weekend meetings and events is essential.

An understanding and awareness of Church of England structures and knowledge of the current educational landscape within the context of church schools, along with experience of budget management or creating financial reports would be desirable.

Your role

We are seeking a Senior Fundraising Leader to secure funding from diverse sources to support our program and initiatives. The ideal candidate has senior-level fundraising experience at an NGO, organisation, or charity, a strong and established network of executive relationships in major foundations, and a proven track record of identifying and closing deals in the range of 1-5 million USD. The fundraising leader will develop relationships with potential donors, identify fundraising opportunities, and manage the grant application process.

Key Responsibilities

Wandsworth Oasis seeks a suitably experienced senior leader to become their next CEO to lead the organisation in its next phase of development and the continued delivery of its mission to achieve positive impact for people living with HIV or AIDS.

About Wandsworth Oasis:

The roots of today's charity grew from one shop, on Battersea Park Road, opened in 1992. The shop's objective was to raise funds to support the Wandsworth Oasis AIDS Care Centre. As we grew, our trading charity was formally set up and from there other shops were opened. For over 20 years now, we have been supporting a number of London-based charities that align with our mission of supporting people living with HIV, raising awareness for prevention of HIV infection and challenging stigma.

The CEO will be reporting to the Co-Chairs and directly line managing the Head of Income Generation and the Finance Manager. You will have an understanding of the national and international framework within which Medact operates, and you will be able to demonstrate that your values and politics align with those of our organisation. Ideally you will have experience of working in health or with health workers, so that you have an appreciation of the culture within which they work and the potential of their contribution.

You will have strong leadership skills so that, valuing the collaborative approach of our team and respecting varying views, you are able to arrive at clear decisions. You will also have a track record in fundraising in similar fields and a good knowledge of a range of potential supporters.

DMD is a devastating progressive condition diagnosed in early childhood which causes all the muscles in the body to gradually weaken. There are currently only very limited treatment options for DMD, so Emily and Alex set up Duchenne UK to change this. 

Since 2012, we have raised more than £27 million to end the devastating impact of DMD.  We fund ground-breaking scientific research to find effective treatments. We’ve developed the infrastructure of DMD clinical trial delivery in the UK. We engage industry and regulators to accelerate access to treatments. And we’re here to support every family affected and ensure that they receive the best possible care. We aim not only to improve quality of life but stop the disease in its tracks. We’re doing it faster too, because this generation of patients can’t wait.

Alex and Emily were awarded OBEs in The King’s Birthday Honours List in 2023 in recognition of their services to charity and to people living with DMD. They, and the dedicated and effective team they have built at Duchenne UK, are now at the forefront of this work in the UK.

We have a new opportunity to join our team and build on these achievements. We are recruiting for a Director of Income Generation, who will be a key part of our senior leadership team and play a vital role in helping us achieve our mission.

The Director of Income Generation will work collaboratively across the organisation to oversee and grow all of Duchenne UK’s income streams including fundraising, commercial engagement, and new business opportunities.

The Director of Income Generation will report to the CEO and sit on the Senior Leadership team, working closely alongside the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance.

About the role

At a strategic level this role is responsible for leading on all aspects of income, including fundraising, commercial engagement, and new business opportunities, leading the development and delivery of a bold and effective income strategy to support our organisational ambitions and future sustainability.

The Director of Income Generation will inspire and develop the charity’s income team, taking overall responsibility for setting and achieving income targets for the organisation. They will ensure a collaborative and integrated approach to income generation across the organisation.

The Director of Income Generation will report to the CEO and be part of the Senior Leadership team, working closely alongside the Managing Director, Finance Director and Director of Research and Development.  They will line manage a team to support the delivery of the income strategy.

Job Description

Income Generation

• Aligned to the organisational strategy, designing and delivering Duchenne UK’s income generation strategy, establishing a delivery plan to hit targets across a diverse range of income streams, including community fundraising, events, trusts and foundations, major donors, research and development grants and commercial income.
• Oversee the process and systems of managing funders and new business opportunities, including overseeing the charity’s CRM system (Salesforce) to support a high end and holistic approach to the account management of funders and stakeholders.
• Set, monitor and deliver annual income and expenditure targets.
• Attend meetings with funders and prospects, and networking events to uncover new opportunities, including management of Duchenne UK’s Development Board.
• Developing and growing the income pipeline, working closely with the Research and Development team to identify funding for existing and pipeline projects.
• Support the team to develop professional and engaging materials including fundraising proposition, applications, proposals, appeals, pitches and reports.
• Proactively seek-out and identify new trends and developments and make recommendations to Duchenne UK.
• Oversee reporting to ensure the preparation and timely submission of reports on progress on objectives, budgets and targets.

Strategy

• Provide strategic insight and vision both externally and internally as part of the Senior Leadership Team.
• Provide strategic insight and foresight to proactively identify and secure new opportunities.
• Work alongside Board members to maximise income generation opportunities, provide reports and updates where required and support the work of the Finance Committee.
• Develop and nurture an ongoing interest and deep understanding of Duchenne UK’s work so that they can confidently and passionately convey the value and impact externally.

Leadership

• Be an inspiring ambassador for the vision of Duchenne UK and ensure it is reflected in the strategies, outputs and behaviour of the income team.
• Create an income team which is ambitious and passionate about Duchenne UK, providing leadership, coaching and setting priorities and targets.
• Lead the team in their approach to sourcing new business/funding opportunities through bids and pitches.
• Build strong working relationships with our founders, members of the Board, strategic partners and colleagues at all levels, adopting and encouraging a collaborative working approach.
• Provide line management to direct reports, setting and monitoring individual performance objectives and motivating the team to be innovative and professional in its thinking and delivery.
• Ensure all staff receive consistent and motivating direction and feedback to enable them to work to the best of their ability.
• Keep up to date market information and competitive intelligence in target sectors/markets.

Budgeting, reporting and compliance

• Manage the income budget, providing regular reports as required to the Senior Leadership Team, Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees.
• Set, deliver and monitor the income generation delivery plan, ensuring all objectives and KPIs are met and are managed as appropriate.
• Work proactively to identify and monitor risk, working alongside the Compliance and Risk Committee to mitigate risks as part of the wider risk management process.
• Ensure income generation complies with legal and regulatory standards.
• Keep up to date with Charity Commission regulations and guidelines.

What to expect in a fundraising role?

The Fundraising Officer role is a fast-paced and rewarding role where no two weeks will look the same.

A typical day will have different meetings, priorities and team projects. Corporate and University partnerships often involve supporting several different areas of a business or university with varying content, ideas and stewardship, including hosting supporters at our learning centres. Each fundraising area meets regularly to discuss challenges, new ideas and improvements, and the broader fundraising team meets monthly to reflect on progress to date and plan for the rest of the year ahead.
