Introduction and background
Founded in 2011, the Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA) is a UK-wide charity and network of over 130 member organisations, parents, and clinicians dedicated to ensuring all women, birthing people, babies and families impacted by perinatal mental health problems have access to high-quality, compassionate care and support.
The MMHA has recently been awarded a 5-year grant by the National Lottery Community Fund to tackle maternal mental health inequities through community action.
The Maternal Mental Health Councils project will develop, test and replicate a model of community-based decision-making, support and service provision that is led by women with lived experience. The aim is to achieve system change locally and nationally to improve the mental health of marginalised women and is the next phase of the MMHA’s programme to tackle maternal mental health inequities across the UK.
With this funding, we are pleased to be recruiting for an exciting new National Programme Manager role to lead this important work and be an integral part of creating change for families across the UK.
Main responsibilities
Project delivery
- Deliver all key elements of the MMH Council project, in four localities, covering four different populations, implementing a model of community action led by women with lived experience
- Set up, convene, and facilitate the project governance board
- Research, identify and engage with local community and service organisations, and recruit and liaise with local core partner organisations
- Seek out, develop relationships, and work with other stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, voluntary and community organisations, commissioners, local authority staff, politicians, employers, and others with a shared commitment to achieving the objectives of the project
- With local partners, to recruit lived experience chairs and co-ordinators to lead the MMHA Councils
- Link with other organisations, groups, partnerships and local systems-change initiatives – such as Integrated Care Boards, Health and Wellbeing Boards, and Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnerships
- Set up a national advisory group consisting of a range of representatives from partner organisations
- Identify and share learnings from the project to support wider MMHA campaigning
- Work with evaluation partners to build impact frameworks and support outcomes measurement
- Deliver events across the UK to disseminate learning and impact systems change
Project management
- Ensure the project is managed clearly and proportionately, with key decisions and activities documented
- Monitor delivery against agreed outcomes
- Maintain project plans and other relevant documentation, including risk registers
- Write reports, for external and external use, including for MMHA trustees and the Community Fund
- Capture notes and learning from key events and activities, including the MMH Councils, project governance board, and national advisory group
- Undertake administrative tasks to support the delivery of the project.
People and relationships
- Support and enable women with lived experience to become and remain leaders of this work
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the project.
Reporting, finance and compliance
- Ensure financial agreements and robust systems are in place with partners
- Manage day-to-day budgets, ensuring the project remains within the agreed expenditure
- Ensure an effective process so that project stakeholders, including women with lived experience, are promptly reimbursed for any costs incurred

About the Role

● Lead the development and growth strategy for third-party relationships and high-value community supporters.

The Director of Income Generation is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive income generation and fundraising strategies to support the financial long-term sustainability and growth of the organisation. DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include:
- Support programmatic development and project management for Internews’ programming within Europe and Eurasia (E&E).

Required:

THE ROLE
The Fundraising Manage (Trusts & Foundations) role would suit someone who is looking to work with a high degree of autonomy and who welcomes the chance to be innovative and strategic, whilst being supported to achieve their goals. The role is within our Fundraising & Communications team of four staff and works in collaboration with regional Senior Network Managers. There is an opportunity for the post holder to collaborate with the Partnerships Manager on the development of applications to corporate foundations.
Income generation
- Primary focus of the role is the responsibility for Trusts & Foundations fundraising, to meet annual targets.
- Develop compelling funding propositions and case for support to meet priorities, working closely with colleagues in Fundraising & Communications, Programmes and Monitoring, Research, Evaluation & Learning.
- Maintain an up to date pipeline of prospects through research and excellent record keeping, ensuring that applications are made to meet known deadlines.
- Ensure that all reporting and grant monitoring is delivered in a timely manner, working closely with the MERL Manager and colleagues across Programmes.
- Provide internal management information and reporting to the Head of Fundraising on a quarterly basis, or as required.
Stewardship
- Develop data management processes, ensuring timely impact reporting or other agreed deliverables.
- Ensure all donations and supporters are thanked in a timely and appropriate mode to their giving channel.
- Keep all relevant donor and financial information up-to-date on Salesforce, ensuring adherence to GDPR and other relevant good practice, as defined by the Fundraising Regulator and other sector bodies.
- Work with colleagues in Fundraising & Communications and CEO to deliver appropriate partner recognition including events and other engagement activities.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
You will have at least five years relevant experience, ideally with at least three years working in fundraising and be able to demonstrate previous success in generating income and achieving targets. You will be an exceptional communicator with the confidence to work on your own initiative and to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
You will be well organised with excellent attention to detail, work well under pressure and have the ability to think both strategically and operationally. Experience of working with CRM systems is preferred.
You have a good understanding of the disadvantages faced by both women and those from the least advantaged communities and have a drive to rectify the inequalities that currently exist.
You understand the time and resource limitations of a small charity, and you thrive on the potential to make a real difference with your work

Support Services Manager
As the Foodbanks Support Services Manager you will be delivering the foodbanks advice services, managing the relationships with partner organisations referring to the Foodbank and managing and developing the the Foodbank’s school & family support activities.
Key Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for the orientation of new organisations who will be referring to the Foodbank and the delivery of high-quality training on the referral process to all partners as needed.
- Through regular engagement with those organisations, you will forge strong relationships to ensure they provide an advice-first approach, maximising the level of help local people get before being referred to the Foodbank.
- You will develop, monitor and co-manage a team of volunteer signposters who provide support to the Foodbank’s clients

- Working closely with the Cirencester Foodbank’s Citizens Advice team and their Citizens Advice manager, you will ensure Foodbank clients are prioritised in obtaining further advice, monitoring the advisors’ caseloads and ensuring regular reporting
- Ensure that Foodbank clients are consulted and feedback gathered to make our services efficient, helpful, relevant, and respectful. Additionally, collect stories from clients to help illustrate the charities impact, issues that lead people into food poverty and enable further advocacy.

Key Skills and Personal Attributes:
