We are looking for an Executive Director of UK Operations to join our dynamic team. You will play a vital role in delivering our ambitious growth strategy, leading a team over 200 operational staff to reach 1.6m participants by 2026 and remove barriers to access for the most marginalised and excluded young people.

You will be accountable for the design of the DofE Programme, licensing, training and quality-assuring our Licensed Organisations as well as overseeing our multi-million pound strategic growth programmes, and our £2m+ Resilience Fund that provides grants and bursaries to remove barriers to access.

As a member of DofE’s Executive Leadership Team, you will also contribute to the overall strategic and operational leadership of DofE, working collaboratively with senior colleagues to ensure DofE activity is aligned behind our strategy and modelling our values and behaviours.

You will be an exceptional leader of operational teams who has worked at executive level and can provide empowering and motivational leadership to a Directorate of over 200 field-based staff, and our network of 5,000 Licensed Organisations and 40,000 incredible volunteers leaders.

About the role

You will:

-Provide direct advocacy support to children and young people children and young people experiencing, or at risk, of homelessness. You will hold a caseload, and be committed to championing the rights of these young people, working with a broad range of other stakeholders and agencies to do so.

-Support with developing the quality of services and projects delivered by Coram Voice to children and young people. This includes under Coram Voice’s Homelessness Outreach Project.

-You will support in the promotion of good practice across both Coram Voice and external organisations, building equitable and inclusive practice across the sector for homeless children and young people.

Our advocates will have relevant experience with children and young people, and may hold a suitable Advocacy Qualification. For the right candidate, we may also be able to offer this post as a Trainee position, and offer support to gain qualifications. The salary offered will reflect the candidate’s experience and skills.

Think & Do is a climate and social action organisation based in the London Borough of Camden. We work on a range of projects across the borough which tackle environmental and social issues. About the role:

Think & Do Camden is looking for a Head of Projects & Business Development to manage the Think & Do Projects team and deliver local climate and social action projects across the Borough of Camden. This is a creative opportunity in a fast paced environment to work on meaningful projects in collaboration with other local organisations and businesses including Camden Council. A key part of this role is the organisation's strategic development working alongside the Cofounder & Head of Imagination. This role will be reporting on a monthly basis to the T&D Directors and will also require autonomous working. Think & Do is a small, grassroots organisation with a passionate team who work hard to deliver innovative projects across Camden and beyond. 

Tasks will include 

• Collaboratively leading the strategic direction of the organisation to be in line with the mission and vision.

• Fundraising for different projects through applying for grants and building relationships with local businesses.

• Developing and codesigning projects in line with Think & Do’s mission and vision in response to needs and challenges within Camden’s community and beyond.

• Facilitating hiring decisions for the organisation, creating job roles, working through the interview process and onboarding new team members. 

• Building new business connections and managing relationships with key partners and stakeholders. 

• Providing overall direction for multiple projects with different timelines.

About this key role

As a valued and integral part of the Fundraising and Communications team, our successful candidate will lead a small sub-team to generate at least £500,000 income each year, including the direct line management of a Senior Fundraising Officer, who you will support to line manage the Fundraising Assistant.  We will count on you to implement effective processes and procedures across the fundraising and collaborating teams, manage and refine processes for recordkeeping and devise, maintain and update our Fundraising Handbook.

You will also be expected to manage the development and implementation of our Individual Giving Strategy and our Individual Giving income stream through single and regular giving appeals, as well as managing a portfolio of challenge events nationally that provides excellent stewardship for a range of participants. Developing and designing high-quality applications, presentations, and pitches to secure five-, six- and seven figure funding opportunities from Trusts & Foundations, Community Partners and High Net Worth Individuals is a key element of this role, as is providing excellent stewardship to existing donors.

This full time, permanent role is available from 2nd September 2024.

Summary of the role

Following the successful conclusion of the Making the Exceptional Happen campaign (which raised over £71m) attention is turning to a future campaign in support of the University’s 2030 strategy which has three core themes: sustainability (greener); improving human health and wellbeing (healthier); and creating a fair and inclusive society (fairer).

Aligned to the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS), you will plan, develop and produce fundraising proposals to trusts and foundations of a consistently high quality. These bids will be tailored to the needs of a wide range of funders based both in the UK and internationally. You will influence the trust and foundation fundraising strategy and take an active role annual planning. You will have direct responsibility for securing significant new funds to support the university’s strategic objectives. You will work closely with academics and senior university leaders to create funding proposals. You will be expected to build personal relationships with key trust and foundation contacts (trustees/administrators) and to find ways to open doors to new trusts and foundations by exploring the networks of academics and supporters. The work will focus particularly on major proposals for grants of £100k or more.

With a significant track record of securing major gifts from Trusts and Foundations through your own endeavours and delivering against financial targets, you will have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise confidentially and diplomatically both externally and internally at all levels and to a range of audiences.

Brighton & Hove LGBT Switchboard connects and supports people in need across Sussex. Originally set up as a helpline in 1975, we've grown to deliver a wide range of essential services for our community.

This exciting new role will be supporting Switchboard to continue innovating, developing and delivering services, by and for LGBTQ people in Sussex.

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated, experienced fundraiser to oversee and drive forward all of our income generation. This post will work closely alongside our various teams and projects to raise awareness of our work among potential supporters. The postholder will be responsible for building sustainable and diverse income streams through regular giving, bid writing, events, and corporate partnerships. You will establish engaging supporter journeys that maintain long-term relationships with regular donors, high net worth supporters, and corporate clients.

Here's the person specification for the role:

• At least 2 years of experience of proven success in a fundraising role.
• Detailed knowledge of at least one of the following: trusts and foundations / individual giving / community / corporate fundraising.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to engage and enthuse audiences through a broad range of communications channels.
• Experience of planning, delivering and evaluating events, projects and/or campaigns.
• Leadership experience - this could be in work or elsewhere, with staff, projects, volunteers or communities.
• Project management and organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise and work in a self-directed manner.
• Understanding of LGBTQ+ communities.
• Ability and willingness to help with organisational events such as Pride or conferences several times a year.

About this key role

This multi-faceted role will see our successful candidate produce monthly management accounts for St Giles Trust with commentary and key performance indicators, monitor and report on budget and prepare financial forecasts and projections, plus prepare monthly schedules such as deferred income, accruals, and prepayment in accordance with accounting policies.

We will also count on you to monitor expenditure and income and support budget holders in managing the delegated budget by providing monthly reports on income, grant, and expenditure and to monitor the organisation’s expenditure and income, as well as supporting managers with the preparation of funders’ monthly or quarterly reports on fund usage.  Coordinating the year-end financial accounts and supporting the Head of Finance to ensure a smooth process and being point of contact for all financial systems related matters are also key aspects of the role.

What we are looking for

• Experience of in-year reporting and monitoring key performance indicators

• Experience of working with non-finance managers on financial issues

• Experience of managing the payroll process

• Experience of preparing management accounts returns for funders, reconciling fundraising figures to budgets/actuals on financial systems

• Strong accounting technical knowledge (debits, credit, accruals, deferred income, etc)

• Ability to use Exchequer or similar financial system and experience of Sage 50 Payroll or similar payroll software

• Ability to explain technical accounting terms to non-finance managers

• Excellent IT, interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.

The Fundraiser will play a key role in raising funds and awareness for the Friends of Bereaved Families Forum, a UK charity established to support the work of the Parents' Circle in Israel and Palestine. 

This individual will be responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies, cultivating donor relationships, and ensuring the sustainability and growth of our programs. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising, excellent communication skills, and a passion for the peace mission and values of the Bereaved Families Forum.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Fundraiaser will work in close consultation with the Chair, Trustees and with members of the Steering Committee in carrying out the following tasks and responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with the organization's goals. Develop strategies to expand, enhance and cultivate the current donor base. Set targets for fundraising and report against targets.
• Identify new donors and cultivate existing donors. seek new sources of funding such as charitable foundations and trusts. Submit grant applications and reports, as needed.
• Develop and maintain database of donors and donations.
• Constantly follow PCFF activities, projects, achievements, and evolving content matter. Work closely with the PCFF Israeli-Palestinian fundraising team to address needs and identify opportunities.

• Maintain and increase FBFF’s media presence – in Jewish, Christian, Muslim and national press.
• Field general queries from external groups and individuals.
• Newsletter - produce and distribute periodic written/visual material about FBFF activities for the newsletter and translating/adapt relevant PCFF materials for UK audiences. Constantly increase distribution and readership.
• Constant update of social media and website – [may work with website maintainer on improving design]
• Steering Committee - set up and attend meetings, prepare agendas, reports, minutes, and other relevant documentation – and work closely with members to initiate and develop activities.

ROLE CONTEXT

ABOUT ALL SAINTS: There has never been a more exciting time to join the team at All Saints. As part of a new project to revitalise the church for the Island, we are planting the first-ever contemporary service into the Church as part of the HTB network of churches (including Harbour Church Portsmouth). We are currently building an amazing team to bring the vision to life. So, this is a rare opportunity to join a new foundational team and community and to be part of the team that sets the vision, values, and culture for the next phase of ministry at All Saints as we explore what it looks like to play our part in the evangelisation of the nation, the revitalisation of the Church, and the transformation of society.

ABOUT RYDE: Ryde is just a 10-minute journey on the hovercraft from Portsmouth Harbour. Ryde is known as ‘the gateway to the Island with several main travel points located within it. It also has a long stretch of sandy beach and lots of independent shops and cafes. The largest town on the Isle of Wight with a population of 37k. The Church is a landmark on the island with the spire visible from many places around the Isle of Wight and from the mainland projecting beyond the town skyline. The socioeconomic makeup of the town is very mixed and it is a great vibrant place to live and work.

ROLE PURPOSE

This is an amazing opportunity for someone who thrives on operational excellence and loves managing a project to completion to have a hugely impactful and pivotal role in a church entering a new phase of its life. You will be a key part of the leadership team and oversee the operational management of All Saint’s Ryde and assist other Ryde churches in the plurality group; ensuring structures and systems are in place to enable ministry and best use resources within our church, to advance the vision of the church. The Operations Lead will work with the Rector and Team Vicars to achieve the strategic objectives of All Saints in overseeing the operational, organisational, and financial aspects of the church.

KEY TASKS AND DELIVERABLES

Oversee Operational Excellence - Oversee the important day-to-day operations of the church and its buildings and hold oversight responsibility for: Project roll-out; Health and Safety; Food Hygiene, Fire Assessment; Risk Management; Infrastructure; GDPR and Accessibility issues.

• Develop and lead the ongoing strategic plan for the church’s activity in consultation with the wider team.
• Collect and collate data and process information to provide reports as required about church activity.
• Lead the process of planning, designing, developing and implementing church operating and governance procedures, processes and systems.

Be the Team – as All Saints has never had a contemporary worship service before, this is really a church-planting opportunity. We’re therefore looking to build a team of people who are energised by helping one another and who want to serve the wider vision of the church rather than work in team- specific silos. While most of your work will be focused on operational excellence, we’re aiming to be a close-knit team who all help each other and where no one is left with too much on their plate or a task they can’t manage. This means we’ll all help you with as needed, but in turn, we expect that you’ll help when needed with other projects as well. We think church is just more fun this way, anyway!

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Being part an active part of the worship of the Christian Church is a genuine occupational requirement for this role. The Operations Lead will be expected to be part of the worshipping community at All Saints while holding this role. The role holder must be available to work a selection of Key Annual events which will include various Holiday services, Church Meetings, Focus (our church summer holiday festival), and other key ministry events (for which advanced notice of dates will be given and time in lieu will be given if outside of normal working hours). All staff must attend weekly staff meetings in person.
