About the Role

We have an opportunity for a talented Relationship Manager to join our Grants Team as part of the Social Investment Business organisation.  Reporting to one of our Senior Relationship Managers this role plays an important part in supporting our Investment Team in Grant funding which supports the delivery of SIB’s strategy and focus.

We are looking for someone who has previous experience of social investment or grant making and has worked with charities and social enterprises. This is a great opportunity for someone to be involved in making a difference to people.  We need someone who is passionate, proactive, can work well autonomously and as part of a team and is flexible, adaptable and can manage competing priorities.

Key responsibilities

1. To be team delivery lead for one or more of the following areas – pre-investment and investment readiness, enterprise development, energy efficiency support, learning and insights, customer feedback or any such area that becomes a priority for the team.

2. Management and assessment of a caseload of grant proposals / applications against criteria, throughout the process from expression of interest to offer / decline.

3. Analysis of business plans and financial information including management and annual accounts and financial projections and review organisations’ current and potential social impact.

4. Identification of risks attached and any mitigating factors and reach sound and considered judgements about the viability and suitability of proposals/ applications.

5. Approach key stakeholders, e.g. co-investors/funders, local authorities, Commissioners, [potential] Delivery Partners, to establish an independent view of the applicant and their plans.

6. Make clear and constructive recommendations, in written reports for decision-making by Committees / panels and through presentations at meetings.

7. Establish and maintain relationships with support providers on investment readiness and other funds, ensuring that they are provided with accurate and consistent information and guidance.

8. Prepare all Grant offer, documentation and ensure this accurately reflects the agreed offer and ensure all payments due under agreed investments are reviewed, progressed and authorised in line with procedures.

9. Provide constructive feedback and signposting to applicants (successful and unsuccessful).

10. Act as the primary point of contact for all communications with your caseload of recipients.

11. Help develop solutions and ensure ‘business requirements’ are correctly defined and support implementation of new projects and initiatives.

12. Represent SIB at external events, ensuring all communications are professional and in line with SIB’s values.

13. Manage customer complaints in a professional and responsive manner.

14. To adopt our continuous improvement and learning ethos.

15. To support and embed equality, diversity and inclusion into day-to-day behaviours and activities within your role as well as contributing more widely across SIB’s commitment to E, D & I.

As Grants & Development Officer you will work closely with the Management Team and be responsible for the successful grants and fundraising activity for core and project-based work, as well as developing new income generation opportunities.

Grants, Fundraising and Other Income Generation:

· Undertake regular prospect research to identify potential funding streams and prioritise opportunities based around local, community, and organisational need.

· Work with the Management Team, to identify, apply for and secure funding through appropriate and successful grant and tender applications.

· Maintain and strengthen relationships with current and future sponsors and supporters, including funding organisations and partners.

· Work with the Board and Management Team to help diversify our income sources to enable the organisation to continue its growth and demonstrate sustainability.

· Scope alternative / additional sources of funding, such as corporate sponsorship and membership opportunities.

· Research and develop new income generation opportunities, such as the setting up of a profit-making business(es) that donates its profit to the charity.

· Maintain and manage effective electronic records in support of all fundraising and grant application duties.

· Work with the whole team and beneficiaries, to write up appropriate case studies to support income generation.

· Co-ordinate and develop a rolling programme of community fundraising and awareness raising events as well as beneficiary involvement initiatives.

Supporting Strategic Development:

· Analyse and understand the organisation’s existing goals, vision, and priorities so new initiatives are in alignment in order to guide and recognise the journey of Middleport Matters.

· Regularly review the projects, initiatives, and priorities of the organisation, and analyse them against our strategic aims to ensure they are aligned.

· Regularly review the strengths and weaknesses of Middleport Matters and thereby our capabilities, that are significant to our current and future growth (e.g. SWOT analysis).

· Conduct research (locally and nationally), to comprehend the organisation’s strategic options for the future and the business environment that we are situated within (e.g. PESTLE analysis).

· Provide analysis and recommendations around the structure, growth, and direction of the organisation, that are creative, challenging, realistic, and focused (using relevant data, business models, and statistics in order to regularly report on the current position of the business).

· Work with the Board and Management Team to support the continued development and implementation of the organisation’s strategic plan, business plan and operational plan.

· Develop and maintain relationships with other non-profit leaders, for example, looking for opportunities to partner with other organisations to serve the community. 

· Work with leaders in the business and government world, cultivating long-term strategic partnerships or donor relationships to increase the organisation's effectiveness serving unmet needs. 

· Produce and continually review a Risk Register to identify, assess and implement measures to control the key risks to the organisation's people (participants, staff, management, volunteers), property, finances, goodwill and image, along with their quantification of each risk and the action being taken to manage it.

OTR are looking for a Grant & Bid Writer to work as part of the Business & Development Team providing increased trusts and foundation income across all regions and to cultivate and nurture relationships with funding and grant making organisations both new and existing.

The Grant & Bid Writer will be responsible for researching, writing, and submitting effective applications for funding, working with the Business & Development Manager to develop compelling cases for support, manage mid level donor opportunities, and continue accurate tracking of income.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience working in fundraising, with success in drafting proposals, raising funds, and applying different research techniques in identifying funding opportunities.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced professional to take a key role in our grant-making team as our second grants officer.  You will be comfortable analysing applications for funding and making informed recommendations, as well as a highly competent database user, comfortable with “super user” responsibilities. In addition, you will take a lead on data – reporting on, representing and interrogating our grant-making data.  You will also be lead contact on a limited number of funds, so must be confident managing relationships with stakeholders.   Finally, you will oversee our grantee feedback process; managing process for receipt, collation and distribution of grant feedback.

The principal responsibility of the Grants Assessor is to be the main point of contact for all individual applicants to the Charity. Working with colleagues they will ensure that applications are processed efficiently, in line with our processes and grant eligibility criteria

They are now currently looking for a Grants Assistant, to join their team on a FTC basis, for up to 6 months.

As a Grants Assistant, you will provide administrative support to the Individuals team including the Head of Programme and Grants Manager. You will also play a critical role in supporting the Ideas and Pioneers Fund which re-opens in July 2024. You will be involved in project management, developing and implementing systems and processes relating to the re-opening, ongoing management and development of the Fund. Further duties will include covering the whole cycle of grant-making from application to the digital archiving of files after a grant is finished, acting as the first point of contact for the fund including handling enquiries and updating the system. 

To be considered for this role you will have experience in grant-making, including knowledge of using Grantmaking management systems (they currently use Blackbaud). You will possess strong administrative and organisational skills, as well as the ability to analyse and synthesise complex information. Experience working with a range of stakeholders, working effectively and building relationships and partnerships is desirable.

About Us

We set up and manage inexpensive grant-giving funds for families, individuals, companies, national funders and the public sector, and we revitalise historic grant-giving trusts that have become dormant or onerous. We specialise in giving grants to vital local charitable groups that help keep our area thriving. We have given over £1m in grants every year for the last few years.

Overview of the Role

The Grants Officer will work the one other Grants Officershare the workload of managing the grant-giving of donors and funders to achieve their giving aims, and help support local charitable groups meet the needs of the communities they serve.  We currently manage around 50 grant-giving funds, most named and directed by different families, individuals, companies, and public sector bodies e.g. the NHS. We have well-established grant giving processes. We plan to keep increasing our impact on and support of local communities.

We have mandatory Monday team meetings in person, and then work at home or our small offices as preferred, with external meetings as required. You’ll have access to the national network of Community Foundations

We are a place-based funder.  A consistent presence in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, and access to personal transport, are important.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

1)  Grant Giving Processes

1. Help manage our Making Local Life Better Fund, which combines a number of donor funds who wish to give responsively, and which is open to groups to apply for any (charitable) support, at least three times a year.

1. Help manage intermittent standalone funds of over £50k, within agreed timescales, for donors and funders who wish to make a specific impact.

c. Most donor funds work in one or other of these two ways, but there are some who work differently to make their grants, and you will help manage these

This work includes some or all of the following:

i. Direct contact with some donors and/or funders

ii. writing fund criteria based on donor/funder aims in ways that applicants can easily understand

iii. promoting funds on the website, networks, funding fairs, etc

iv. offering basic support where groups need help with applying

v. reading and assessing grant applications thoroughly, against the criteria of the fund, for governance and legal requirements, viability impact etc, asking questions if necessary

vi. writing brief accurate summaries of applications that donors and funders understand, and that can also be used in reports.

vii. setting up and supporting decision-making panels in person or online

viii. ensuring grant offers/agreements/payments are made

ix. arranging interim visits to groups if needed

x. in some cases, setting up and managing formal monitoring

xi. creating reports as required for Board and other audiences

xii. some line management in terms of briefing and supporting freelance or administrative staff who help our grant giving

2) Strategic and Stakeholder Work; Local Intelligence

a. Maintain and develop our knowledge of and reach to local charitable groups, via visits, workshops, briefings and other methods

b. Ongoing streamlining of systems, balancing safeguarding (of money and people) and maximising impact

c. Develop our Advisory Group, and pool of assessors and panellists

d. Develop/maintain relationships with external stakeholders e.g. councils, external working groups, infrastructure groups, other funders, 360 Giving, the Community Foundation network

e. Start to contribute to our local needs analysis, and impact measurement, for understanding of how our grants create change for the better

3)  Administration and Teamwork

1. Manage our grant giving and your own administrative needs by maximising our CRM system (a version of Salesforce), and Microsoft Office tools

2. Work with the constraints and opportunities of a small charity 

3. Help maintain the Community Foundation’s good reputation, offering equitable access and timely communications

Skills and Background Needed

1) Considerable experience of grant-giving (particularly between £1000 and £10,00000) in the local charitable and voluntary sector, or related sector

2) Strong organisational and administration skills: you will use Microsoft Office applications and our bespoke Salesforce database daily

3) Excellent “people” skills; you need to be very organised, but this is not a purely an administrative role; communication and teamwork are needed to work with all staff in the small team, as well as with donors, funders, trustees, and other stakeholders

4) A strong understanding of inclusion, equity and diversity, and the ability to work effectively with people from a range of backgrounds, proactively seeking to include eligible groups from all areas in the city and county

5) Skills in writing and summarising information

6) Ability to manage workloads constructively

7) Ability to research relevant information and keep up with key developments

8) Ability to learn internal and external policies and processes, in line with GDPR, Charity Law, and our own rigorous Quality Accreditation process

The Architectural Heritage Fund (AHF) is currently seeking a Head of Grants. Reporting to the Director of Programmes and Deputy CEO, you will be responsible for overseeing the AHF’s core grant-funded programmes across the UK, including managing the four Development Managers for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, leading on assessment, monitoring and reporting against all grants awarded through these programmes, and participating in decision making around grant awards.

We are looking for a candidate able to demonstrate a breadth and depth of experience across the principal duties of this post. A strong track record of leadership within the heritage, social enterprise or social investment sectors and clear, relevant experience managing a staff team as well as multi-funder programmes with diverse strands of activity and reporting lines, is essential. The candidate must be a team player, with excellent interpersonal, influencing, negotiating and communication skills. They should have experience of collaborative working with external partners and a strategic approach to prioritising workloads and problem solving. Candidates must have strong numeric and financial skills, excellent attention to detail and be a confident user of common IT system Office packages. We are looking for someone who will become a leader in our organisation, who is passionate, target orientated and, in particular, committed to achieving beneficial social outcomes through heritage.

The Grant Fundraiser will be employed by the Internet of Production and part-funded by the Global Innovation Gathering.

Grants will usually be £50k to £500k, and larger grants will also be sought in consortia with existing partners in the Internet of Production Alliance and the Global Innovation Gathering. Our funding proposals are usually focused on creating opportunities for others in our networks – whilst maintaining the core of our organisations.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Write and submit grant applications, including narratives and any additional materials (such as detailed budgets, budget justifications, workplaces, monitoring and evaluation plans, logical frameworks, pitch decks, etc).
• Work closely with the CEOs of the Internet of Production and the Global Innovation Gathering (also successful grant writers) and with inspiring networks of visionary experts to design exciting, effective and fundable concepts and projects for grant applications.
• Plan appropriately to best fulfil a pipeline of grant opportunities, where some opportunities may be very short notice and some may require months of co-authoring.
• Assist with seeking out and prioritising potential grant opportunities from around the world.
• Develop a master bid document or other grant application tools and manage and maintain grant application files and folders etc for each organisation.

Person Specification:

• Extensive experience in roles that included significant grant writing.
• Experience of Horizon Europe grants, research funding or other large consortia grants.
• Exceptionally effective and clear writing style, with excellent English, including when under time pressure. Ability to speak German could be helpful but is not required.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled writer and fundraiser to tell the stories of SAT-7 and the people of the MENA in fresh and powerful ways.

You’ll be working in a fast-paced, creative environment as part of the Fundraising Team, delivering high quality proposals and reports. You’ll be one of the main points of contact with our international office, gathering and repurposing impactful proposals and reports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Grant Fundraising

• Preparing, maintaining and delivering an annual plan for all grant applications
• Writing compelling proposals and reports to grant-making trusts and organisations
• Identifying and developing relationships with selected key funders
• Researching new potential funders
• Liaising with our SAT-7 International Development Team to identify projects which require funding and source material for proposals and reports

Grant Funding Hub

• Supporting internal teams with appropriate funding proposals and connected reports
• Supporting development of cross-organisational impact reports as required

Statutory and Development Funding

• Monitor statutory funding opportunities and, working with your line manager, support the development of applications, proposals and reports.

Grants Manager

Salary: £40,000 - £42,000

Location: The role-holder will be expected to have a presence in our London office once or twice a week with flexibility on working from home at other times

Role purpose

At Fair4All Finance, we are making direct social investments (£40m+ to date) and grants into community finance providers and social fintechs to support their growth and future sustainability, as a key part of our strategy to scale up the provision of affordable credit.  This includes our new Community Finance Resilience Fund - we expect to have offered 40-50 grants from this Fund by end summer 2024 (at which point we expect the Fund to be fully committed). 

We are now looking for an experienced grants manager to manage this grant portfolio.  This will include deploying remaining grants (once approved by our grants committee), liaising with grantee organisations (primarily credit unions and CDFIs) on finalising grant agreements, supporting regular social impact and financial reporting, and dealing with ad hoc queries. There are good development opportunities as we develop our impact reporting.

You will be joining a collaborative and purpose driven team overseen by a committed board. Our team is drawn from a range of backgrounds spanning leaders and changemakers across financial services and social purpose sectors.  The reach and influence of our team makes this an exciting place to work and enables us to engage important stakeholders at the highest levels.

Some key responsibilities

In this role your focus will likely be split across some key areas of work:

Grant portfolio - management

· Offer grants (once approved by our grant committee), finalise and execute grant agreements in line with our policies and procedures

· Monitor grant spend to ensure in line with grant purpose

· Liaise with our Finance team to draw down grant funds

Grant portfolio - financial and social impact reporting

· Responsible for the regular monitoring of financial and social impact performance

· Working closely with an external evaluator and other members of the investment team to agree the monitoring framework and support impact analysis of the Community Finance Resilience Fund

Other

· Support due diligence on ad hoc grants to community finance providers

· Support regular reporting to our external funders in line with their requirements

To be successful, your experience and skills will include:

· Good experience of grant-making to small/medium social purpose organisations in the UK

· Strong organisational skills with good attention to detail

· Good analytical skills

· Strong oral and written communication skills

It would be great if you also have:

· Experience with credit unions, CDFIs or other social purpose lenders

· Deal execution capability including evidence of negotiating legal documents
