Specifically, the postholder will be responsible for the following:

Strategy, planning and reporting

• Produce annual fundraising plans and budgets for major donors, trust, corporate and regular givers to engage supporters and develop relationships;
• Work with the Head of Communications & Giving to develop and deliver long-term high value fundraising strategies;
• Manage budgets for fundraising activities and events;
• Report against monthly, quarterly and annual targets, identifying variances and strategies to address where needed;
• Lead on the set up of systems and processes to support effective and efficient fundraising and relationship management;
• Keep up to date with fundraising best practice, policy and relevant legislation and ensure these are reflected in Afghanaid’s approaches;
• Produce pipelines, reports and analysis of major donor, trust, corporate and regular giver fundraising.

Trust, Major Donor, Corporate and Regular Giver Fundraising

• Identify and secure new trust and corporate funding relationships through database analysis, desk research, networking, formal presentations, and producing concept notes or proposals;
• Retain and maximise relationships with existing trust and corporate portfolio through designing and delivering bespoke annual engagement strategies, including exclusive and personalised reports, briefings, calls and proposals;
• Promote cross-department collaboration on trust and corporate fundraising to maximise both unrestricted and restricted fundraising, leading meetings, identifying synergies, and integrating pipelines and prospecting mechanisms;
• Identify and secure new major donors and regular givers, conceptualising and running acquisition campaigns alongside the HC&G;
• Identify potential major donors and high value regular givers within Afghanaid’s donor portfolio and implement plans to develop these relationships;
• Manage and maximise relationships with existing major donors and high value regular givers through designing and delivering annual engagement strategies, including reports, calls and proposals;
• Collaborate with colleagues to produce content for engaging monthly email newsletters for high value portfolio;
• Design and manage an annual campaign to upgrade existing regular givers;
• Secure match funding from key trust, corporate and major donors to maximise the success of events and appeals;
• Mobilise Board of Trustees and Directors to support with stewardship of high value donor relationships;
• Organise the annual high value donor dinner, compiling the invitee list, managing RSVPs and organising other logistics;
• Coordinate and attend other events and external fora, representing Afghanaid, networking and pursuing opportunities;
• Manage external platforms related to high value giving including Benevity, Global Giving and Myriad US, updating where appropriate in alignment with campaigns and appeals and actively identifying ways to maximise their use and join new platforms where appropriate;
• Work with colleagues to identify and pursue opportunities for gifts-in-kind or alternative high-value partnerships.

Data and administration

• Ensure all phone calls, meetings, emails and other engagement with trusts, corporates, major donors and high value regular givers are logged on Salesforce, ensuring records are clean;
• Work with the Database and Insights Analyst to conceptualise and implement key CRM processes that promote efficiency, accuracy and maximise the use of automations;
• Work with the Database and Insights Analyst and other C&G colleagues to ensure all donations from these donation streams are recorded and reconciled accurately on the database;
• Ensure Gift Aid declarations are sought from all eligible donors and appropriately filed;
• Liaise with colleagues to ensure funding contract requirements are adhered to;
• Monitor the Supporter Care email address to ensure all donors are receiving the best possible experience;
• Undertake any other duties as and when required by the line manager and/or overview manager.

About the role     

A4S was established by HM King Charles III in 2004, when he was The Prince of Wales, to transform finance to make sustainable business, business as usual. The Personal Assistant will provide professional diary, business and administrative support to four roles -  the Executive Director of Knowledge and Learning, the Director of the CFO Programme, the Director of Capital Markets and Fundraising, and the Head of Europe and Global Reporting Lead (‘the principals’).

• Plan and co-ordinate the principals’ diaries, arranging meetings and calls, and helping to prioritise time.

• Monitor email traffic, ensuring the principals’ email inboxes are prioritised and highlighting urgent emails for action.

About you

You will have administrative support experience and previous PA/Secretariat experience, including responsibility for diary management for multiple principals concurrently. You will have a proven ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines and have excellent organizational skills. 

Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and proven experience of engaging with a wide range of people at all levels in a professional capacity are essential. Candidates must also demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and be comfortable working with various new IT systems and software.

Interest in sustainability, business, and/or finance, as well as knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM systems and European languages other than English, would be an advantage.

Background & Context to the Consultancy

Our new Global Strategy introduces some new approaches and priorities to our work, including: our first ever global Theory of Change (ToC), the most detailed Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) approach ever, and a sub-strategy dedicated to research, innovation and technology: the Global Research, Innovation and Technology Strategy (GRITS). With the finalisation of the new strategy, and as part of our ongoing commitment to improving our impact and efficiency, we are now seeking a consultant to provide specialised research support and technical advice.

Purpose & Objectives of the Consultancy

The primary objectives of this consultancy are to lead the transitional phase of the GRITS, creating a detailed operational plan for its implementation; support the management of the existing research portfolio ensuring technical soundness, budget adherence and timely delivery; establish a sustainable pathway for research expertise to be led by in-country professionals.

Scope of Work

The consultant will be responsible for the following key areas over a six-month period:

Strategy Transition Leadership

• Lead the transitional phase of the GRITS.
• Identify and address any gaps or challenges in the current strategy.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth transition.

Operational Plan Management

• Develop a comprehensive operational plan for the rollout of the strategy.
• Establish the initial GRITS processes including the Go no Go; steering group established and functioning.
• Define clear timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• Ensure the plan is realistic, achievable, and aligns with the charity’s objectives and resources.

Support Existing Research Profile

• Review and support ongoing research projects.
• Ensure all research activities are technically sound, within budget, and on time.

• Provide ongoing mentoring and coaching to staff and partners.
• Ensure that data sets and tools are appropriately designed and employed.

Pathway to Sustainability

• Create a sustainability plan to ensure research expertise is transitioned to and led by in-country professionals.
• Develop capacity-building programmes for local researchers and institutions
• Establish mentorship and training frameworks to support local leadership in research.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including donors, research institutions, and community leaders.
• Facilitate collaboration and partnerships to enhance the research profile and strategy implementation.
• Ensure transparent and effective communication throughout the transition process.

Monitoring and Evaluation

• Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework to track progress and impact of the strategy.
• Regularly report on progress, challenges, and achievements to the Lepra’s leadership team.

Safeguarding

• Support the implementation of newly developed processes in relation to the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation & Abuse (PSEA) and Safeguarding (SG).

• Comprehensive operational plan for the global research, innovation, and technology strategy.

Purpose of job:

As the Head of Creative Services, you will be pivotal in establishing the smooth operation of our Production Directorate. Reporting to the Creative Director, you will collaborate with department heads and other senior stakeholder across the organisation to develop and implement project management and content workflows across teams to enable the team to deliver work effectively.

Once creative ideas are envisioned and agreed upon, you will lead the team in creating the roadmap for implementation. Your role entails developing, training, and assimilating a team of Creatives and Producers into a new operating model capable of developing, managing, and delivering a range of content year-round. This will involve collaborating with project teams across departments to ensure Producers can successfully deliver large, complex content projects, as well as several small to mid-size projects. Key responsibilities:

• Implement robust project management processes to ensure the efficient workflow in content delivery. You should be expert in integrated marketing communication tools and techniques, but also expert at stakeholder management, as you will serve as the liaison for senior stakeholders within Strategy and within the production teams.

· Extensive and demonstrable experience in department and team management, as well as training & development.

· Proven strategic experience in implementing efficient content production workflows for complex integrated cross-media campaigns, such as video, broadcast, digital, event, activations, podcasts, multi-screen shows, and others.

· Experience specifically with implementing processes that have directly enhanced team efficiencies and who has led teams through change and transformation.

Summary of Role

The Regional Head of Middle East Programmes supports the organisation’s programmatic efforts with a focus on developing and implementing strategy for the Middle East region whilst also providing hands-on support to day-to-day grants management, partner management and donor coordination and reporting.

The following role works closely with the Director of Programmes and Head of Programmes (Protracted Contexts). The role will also regularly work as the intermediary lead with the established Collective for Refugee Leadership in MENA (CRLM), which is a group of donors and thought partners focused on advancing refugee leadership and support for refugees across the Middle East and North Africa.

You will be highly flexible and adaptive, able to respond effectively and in line with our emergency protocols to humanitarian crises as required, whilst also supporting longer-term protracted programmes work. You will have strong project and grants management experience and highly effective administration skills. You drive efficiency and innovation and provide senior management guidance on international projects, as well as high-quality implementation. You will address challenges and issues in all aspects of project implementation and ensure timely and appropriate solutions, including the identification and mitigation of programmatic risks. You will also demonstrate strong people management skills, with an ability to provide both task management and strategic guidance (in addition to more holistic line management support) to several team members.

Responsibilities

 Grant Management

● Manage the Choose Love Middle East team to ensure smooth and efficient grant-making for our work in the Middle East

● This includes leading on, and managing a small team, to:

▪ Work closely with partners to gather, review and track due diligence documentation required for granting to partner organisations.

▪ Support the maintenance of grants systems to track grant making progress e.g start and end dates, reporting deadlines, no cost extensions etc.

▪ Draft and/ or review grant agreements between Choose Love and partner organisations and ensure any grant amendments or addendums have correct and accurate information

▪ Review reports from partner organisations to ensure effective use of Choose Love funds

▪ Work with the Data Lead (Programmes) to review Middle East reporting data received from partners and assess outputs, impact and successes from grant-making in the region. This will include being closely involved in impact reporting within the CRLM initiative.

▪ Working with the Director of Programmes / Head of  Programmes  to attend monitoring  trips to the region

▪ Support the Safeguarding Lead on Safeguarding organisational development  for the region as needed

▪ Problem-solving with partners on how to get funding into challenging contexts

Partner Relationship Management

 ● Build meaningful, effective ongoing relationships with new and existing partners.

● Lead partner calls and track key takeaways and actions to share internally.

● Lead on regular check-ins with existing, long-term partners.

● Respond to ad hoc needs arising from partners - including clarification/support on the application process and support with reporting.

● Maintain up-to-date understanding of the needs of partners.

● Support with narrative reporting to donors - capturing the work of our implementing partners in the region

Regional Strategy

 ● Working closely with the Director of Programmes and the Head of Programmes (Protracted Contexts) and ELT,  to develop and implement the regional strategy for Choose Love’s programmes in the Middle East as part of the wider Choose Love Strategy.

● Consulting with key advisors and stakeholders on recommendations for the Middle East strategy

● Championing and supporting opportunities to promote funding to refugee-led and lived-experience led organisations

● Working with the team to implement the regional strategy and adapt the approach in response to contextual changes or humanitarian emergencies

● Maintain an up-to-date expert understanding of the changing context and needs in the region

● Lead on Choose Love’s involvement in CRLM,  including inputting and implementing the new strategy, processes, and systems

● Participate in relevant sector / regional meetings

● Work with the Director of Programmes and Head of Programmes to develop a network of peers working in the region

People Management

 ● Thoughtfully manage the existing team that supports Choose Love’s Middle East work by providing day to day support, meaningful 1:1s and annual reviews and identifying any learning and development needs

● Collaborate closely with (2) other Regions Heads on wider team initiatives and tasks, and be willing to provide surge management support for other regions during absences or periods of annual leave

● Support CRLM in recruiting and utilising advisors and consultants

Internal Communications

 ● Facilitate the sharing of regional strategy and updates across the wider Choose Love team to feed into wider fundraising efforts

● Communicate partner activities / asks to the rest of the team, including presentations on team calls and email updates to the team

● Support the ELT with information to feed back to the board about Programmes work.

● Capture information on specific contexts and summarise quickly and efficiently to the Communications team, as well as for external stakeholders/funders.

Essential Criteria

● Fluency in Arabic and English (both in written and speaking)

● Experience working in a programmes or grants-focused role related to the Middle East region

● Experience in the humanitarian sector, ideally with people who have been displaced

● Have permission to work in their country of residence

● Ability to travel within the Middle East region

● Line management experience, with remote line management experience highly desirable

● Experience liaising with donors and external stakeholders

● Report-writing skills

There are over 60 million working donkeys and mules in the world, but millions are being killed every year for the inhumane donkey skin trade, leading the African Union to announce plans for a moratorium on donkey slaughter and the development of a strategy for working animals across the continent. This huge opportunity is just one way that charity and its advocacy work can change the world for donkeys and mules, giving them the protection they need and the health and welfare they deserve.

As Head of Advocacy, you will work in partnership with the Director of Advocacy & Campaigns, the CEO and other Senior Management to deliver the organisational strategy by developing inspiring advocacy plans based on clear strategy, integrated with other departments of the organisation.

Your principal duties and responsibilities will include:

• Working with the Director of Advocacy and Campaigns to design and implement an advocacy strategy to effect lasting change for donkeys and mules in line with our organisational aims.
• Building and developing networks of key stakeholders to achieve genuine change and lasting impact on the welfare of donkeys and mules.
• Representing the organisation at key stakeholder engagements, strategic high level forums and in the media, as appropriate.
• Functionally lead advocacy through the creation of a global advocacy strategy that supports teams to deliver high quality and consistent advocacy.
• Working closely with other departments to ensure advocacy integrates with other streams of the sanctuary’s work and ensure the organisation has the support and infrastructure to deliver excellent advocacy outcomes.
• Supporting advocacy needs both in team and organisationally when responding to events that are unexpected or unplanned.
•  Overall responsibility for the work, financial budget and planning of the advocacy team and line manage posts in the department, as agreed with the Director.

About You

You will have:

• Significant experience in a strategic advocacy leadership role.
• Solid experience leading teams to develop and implement effective advocacy strategies.
• Able to engage stakeholders with good communication skills, experienced in influencing governments, intergovernmental bodies and other influential partners.
• Strong experience in identifying and developing creative and engaging advocacy plans.
• A proven track record of working internationally in a functional, cross departmental leadership position.
• Experience of integrating departmental work with other parts of an organisation and translating complex messages to a wide range of stakeholders including senior management and international colleagues.
• Experience of working with the media at a national and international level.
