Save the Children UK has an exciting opportunity for an experienced EA/PA to join us as our Executive Assistant to our Executive Directors of Global Programmes for 9 months.

Please note: We are happy to consider this role as either Full Time or Part Time (minimum of 3 days/21 hours per week).

About the role

As the Executive Assistant to our 2 Interim Executive Directors of Global Programmes you will work at the highest levels of the organisation to assist the Executive Directors and the Global Programmes Senior Leadership Team, as well as the Division Operations Department in driving operational delivery.

You will develop and provide a proactive, comprehensive and supportive administration and information service, as well as engaging with people across different teams in the Global Programmes division to support change initiatives and projects when relevant. 

 In this role, you will:

• PA Support: Planning the Director's diary in line with agreed priorities, initiating and arranging external and internal meetings, handling and prioritising requests for the Directors' time, ensuring relevant papers are available, and follow up actions are seen through. Coordinating the Director's travel arrangements for overseas programme visits and meetings, ensuring that all necessary arrangements / paperwork have been completed. Acting as key point of contact for external and internal enquiries on behalf of the GPD as needed.
• Team Support: Coordinating the effective functioning of the Global Programmes Management and Senior Leadership teams. This will include planning and coordinating meetings; agendas; producing and distributing relevant papers, including the preparation of papers for the Executive Leadership Team and the Board, as well as for the Directors' group discussions in liaison with the Chief Executive's office.
• Internal Communications: Liaising with the Chief Executive, Directors, Trustees and their assistants to facilitate meetings and the flow of information. Building relationships with staff at all levels including divisional and departmental EAs, Team Coordinators, Directors and Senior Managers to problem-solve, negotiate and facilitate on a wide range of issues and ensure tasks are delegated from the Director. Support on the delivery of our Monthly Global Programmes newsletter and Global Programmes divisional meetings as needed.
• Project Management: Working with the Head of Planning, Performance & Operations and the wider Global Programmes Leadership Team to provide project support to key divisional initiatives where relevant.
• Other: in agreement with the Head of Planning, Performance & Operations and the GPD, to perform other responsibilities as may be required from time-to-time to ensure the smooth running of the division and department and to deputise for colleagues as required.

 About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Senior PA/EA experience in a corporate head office environment or INGO.
• A high level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and databases).
• Excellent organisation and administration skills with the ability to plan and prioritise work for self and others. 
• Professional and calm with the ability to think and react quickly in an ever-changing environment, and the ability to meet challenging deadlines while maintaining a rigorous attention to detail.
• Ability to work flexibly and to manage own workload, often making judgements without close supervision.
• Good relationship-building skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with proven ability to tailor communications and adapt style to different voices and audiences.
• Ability to be proactive and show initiative with demonstrable ‘can do' approach to work.
• Commitment to support cross organisational initiatives and team working and understanding of how to contribute to these.

• Excellent time management skills and experience of complex diary management. The post-holder will need to manage their own time well, and the time of the Executive Director.

Ways of Working:

Job Purpose
With 10 years to achieve Agenda 2030, the SDG 6 targets on clean water, decent sanitation and good hygiene are among the furthest behind. Achieving universal, sustainable WASH will require a major mobilisation of resources, public demand and political will. Reporting to the Global Campaigns Director, this pivotal role works across the WaterAid federation to achieve the political and policy changes needed to ensure universal access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene.

The Global Head of Campaigns will lead WaterAid's campaigning on one of our two global advocacy priorities (currently climate). They will drive our strategic direction and, create the campaigns plan to embed WASH in the climate change agenda, building up political momentum, broadening out our campaign alliances and influential champions. The post-holder will be a champion for campaigning within the organisation, ensuring we achieve a greater impact than the sum of our parts through effective and strategic campaigning across countries, regions and international levels to deliver WaterAid's mission of WASH for Everyone Everywhere by 2030.

Team Description
The Campaigns Team plays a leadership role across the WaterAid Federation to drive the design and delivery of WaterAid's major advocacy and campaigns efforts to achieve SDG 6. We deliver an ambitious agenda, grounded in national level change and impact, using a variety of campaigning tactics, including advocacy, lobbying and working with influential people and organisations

Accountabilities

Key accountabilities will remain flexible. Work plans, and targets may change significantly according to political and advocacy priorities. Overall, this role will;

Campaigns leadership

• Campaigning leadership of one of the two WaterAid global advocacy priorities (currently climate) in a way that delivers impact.
• Alongside our International Affairs team, lead WaterAid's international influencing strategy, working with other teams to drive our engagement in key global political processes that will drive forward our advocacy agenda, with a clear vision of what success looks like and how it contributes to the theory of change
• Build and lead public engagement and campaigning strategy to drive awareness and action on our global advocacy priority.
• Lead the transition from policy to public campaigning, working with communications colleagues to turn policy into public messaging and events.
• Lead the building of political support and champions with influential stakeholders, working with teams across WaterAid as relevant
• Lead the building of relationships and joint strategies with campaign coalitions, allies and partnerships that expands our network into the women's health/climate change sectors, complements our advocacy approaches, and ultimately drives further progress on our mutual campaign interests
• Lead the organisation to utilise a range campaigning approaches, moving beyond WaterAid's comfort zone where it needs to, that will deliver against the theory of change for the advocacy priority.
• Be a media spokesperson and represent the organisation at strategic events and with high-level campaign targets

Campaigns operations

• Project Manage the delivery of the global advocacy priority, leading the execution plan, holding team members to account, chairing meetings and managing the budget.
• Provide operational leadership on cross-federation and cross-department collaboration on the global advocacy priority, to ensure the organisation has the buy-in and collaborates effectively for maximum impact.
• Work with WaterAid members, media and communications team, regional teams and country programmes on strategically important campaign moments to ensure strong strategic value and high-quality delivery
• Working with the fundraising teams to identify a pipeline of funding opportunities, collaborate in the development of fundraising proposals as opportunities emerge.
• Budget management responsibilities for the team
• Be an active participant in the Advocacy Steering Group (co-chair), the federation-wide group that has oversight of the roll out of both the global advocacy priorities, and raise up major issues to the Global Campaigns Director
• Work with particular countries or members where strategic support is required to have effective advocacy impact

Team management

• Line manage a Senior Campaigner that drives forward WaterAid campaign priorities and matrix manage a Campaigns Officer on specific projects (and external consultants as needed)
• Play an active role in facilitating strong team communication and coordination across policy, international affairs and campaigns teams within the department for effective delivery of the global advocacy priority.
• Deputies for the Global Campaigns Director when appropriate and undertake any other responsibilities commensurate with the role.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing and influential charity on a 12 month fixed–term contract (maternity cover) in a senior leadership role. 

We’re looking for an experienced health, social care and public policy leader to inspire Parkinson’s UK’s policy, campaigns, education, professional engagement and service improvement and grants teams, working with colleagues across the External Relations directorate to develop our staff to their full potential.

About the role 

You’ll inspire, challenge and lead the Policy & Health Strategy teams to improve public services for people with Parkinson’s - across areas such as timely access to high quality NHS services, access to medications, access to research opportunities, and improved benefits and employment support. You’ll work closely with people affected by Parkinson’s, health care professionals and other partners to influence decision makers across Whitehall, Westminster and local health systems. 

You’ll oversee an annual budget of around £5 million, and a team of 45 people.

• Position the Excellence Network as sector leading with key decision makers in health and social care, maximise funding opportunities and embed the Network and Parkinson’s UK services as key partners in the health and social care sector.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our small but mighty team in a strategically important position as manager of our flagship Fair Water Footprints Programme.  Over the past 15 years Water Witness has carved out a key role in holding governments, business, and investors to account for sustainable water management.  In 2021 this work triggered the Glasgow Declaration for Fair Water Footprints - a breakthrough moment at COP26, when twenty-eight founding Signatories committed to end the abuse of water in our supply chains and establish water stewardship as the global business norm by 2030.  With our partners we have secured significant funds to take forward and scale up this groundbreaking work which will harness trade, enterprise, and civic engagement to drive water justice and climate resilience as part of the UK’s Just Transition for Water Security.

The Programme Manager will be accountable for coordinating and delivering our contributions to the Fair Water Footprint Programme. These will include: the production and dissemination of influential water footprint assessments; pioneering new research and on-the-ground investigations; participatory planning, technical support and training with diverse partners; development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of action plans, advocacy and communication campaigns to secure improved water security for millions of people and systemic change at a sectoral and global scale.   

The successful candidate will use their exceptional organisational and communication skills, technical know-how and experience of multi-stakeholder engagement and policy influence to shape this world-changing initiative and ensure impact.  They will represent Water Witness at the highest levels, to convene and work constructively with leaders from public, private and financial sectors, civil society, and academia, to co-lead a partner coordination unit, and ensure value for money and impact through sub-contracts and grants. 

This new position will play a central role in delivery of our wider 2030 Strategy, will support our country teams and line manage a Programme Officer. Once established they will take on a wider remit for effective delivery across our portfolio of exciting programmes.  The post will suit a high-calibre professional seeking the next step in their career as an influential leader for social justice and sustainable development. Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities 

The Director of Programmes, Policy and Advocacy is a senior leadership and strategic role within CIUK.A key member of CIUK Senior Leadership Team (SLT) with overall responsibility for the programmes, policy, and advocacy.The role is responsible for providing leadership to the directorate, contributing to the development and implementation of organisational Strategy, raising income from FCDO and other institutional donors, contract delivery and compliance, and safeguarding focal point on the leadership team. The postholder will provide expert support and advice to the CEO, the Board and the Impact and Transformation Sub-committee of the Board across programme, policy, and advocacy. Together with fellow SLT members the Director has collective responsibility for the delivery of the CIUK strategy, ensures effective cross organisational work to this end, and ensures CIUK becomes a great place to work, supporting an anti-racist, feminist, diverse and inclusive organisational culture.

Within the confederation, the post-holder is an important voice in shaping and influencing organisational thinking, policy, and operations within the CARE International confederation, being a member of the Global and European Programme Directors working groups.

CIUK’s restricted income from donors is significant and is CIUK’s largest income stream. As such, the post holder must be an expert in the delivery of restricted-funded programming and in particular in the ways of working of FCDO as a donor, and have the ability to influence senior donor counterparts. They must have significant experience of working for an INGO like CARE to deliver complex programming in challenging contexts. Our largest programmes are complex multi-partner consortia in fragile contexts with budgets of up to £60m.
