Our work around the world is focused around the three pillars identified by our members of stopping violence (especially gender based violence), poverty and injustice.
The Role
We now seek a Trustee and Honorary Treasurer for a new charity being formed in England as apart of a pilot reorganisation and consolidation of operations within Britain. This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills and experience to help transform our movement and drive lasting change in communities in the South West of England.

Brighton Parent Infant Psychological Therapy (BrightPIP) is a small, local charity that provides intensive support to expectant parents and those with babies under the age of three. We are rooted in our community and responsive and connected to our families and referrers. Our standards are informed by clinical excellence so that we provide highly effective interventions that are tailored to each family. We are deeply commmitted to service development that is shaped by the community we serve.
Our trustees play a big part in helping us realise and achieve our strategic objectives and meet the needs of those we’re committed to supporting: babies and their young families. As we enter our second decade, we’re now recruiting a new Chair and other trustees to support our growth and development we enter an exciting next chapter.
We are looking for someone with experience of leading an organisation, who knows the charity sector and understands charity governance. Experience of being a Chair is ideal but not essential.

Overview of the role

You will inherit an incredible team of dedicated people leading Scouting in Cornwall, from District Lead Volunteers who manage Scouting on a local level, to the people delivering high quality training for our Scout Leaders. As a County Lead Volunteer you will be able to really develop and hone your leadership skills by managing teams of remote volunteers across the breadth of Cornwall. MAP’s Mission
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. MAP is the leading UK charity delivering health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation, and displacement in the occupied Palestinian territory and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.
Job Purpose
Medical Aid for Palestinians is seeking to appoint at least two, and up to four, additional Trustees, one of whom is to be appointed as Chair-designate.
The Trustees are the governing body of MAP and are, collectively and personally, ultimately responsible for all the charity’s activities. MAP is a company limited by guarantee, so the Trustees are also the legal Directors of the charitable company.
Trustees are responsible for providing appropriate oversight, governance and strategic leadership to MAP in the pursuit of its charitable purposes.
MAP particularly welcomes applications from people with one or more of the following:
· Palestinian heritage or lived experience in the occupied Palestinian territories.
· Professional medical or clinical expertise, particularly in the contexts of international development and/or conflict.

Background and Experience (Chair-designate)
The new Chair-designate will be an individual of exceptional calibre who can guide and enhance the strategic development of MAP. They will additionally demonstrate the following:
· A strong personal connection to MAP’s aims and objectives.
· Proven track record of strategic leadership in complex international operations.
· Demonstrated success in chairing Boards or governance committees.
· A clear appreciation of the governance role of the Board and the delegation of specified responsibilities to management.
Terms and Conditions
Duration
The Trustee will be appointed to serve for an initial term of three years. At the end of the initial term, the Trustee will be eligible to be re-appointed for up to two further three-year terms.
Location
There are no requirements regarding a Trustee’s location. MAP’s head office is in Central London. Trustees are encouraged to attend meetings in person, but if this is not possible, videoconference facilities are provided.
Remuneration
The role of the Trustee is a voluntary one and is therefore unpaid. However, MAP will reimburse all out-of-pocket expenses reasonably incurred by the Trustee in the course of their duties.
Time Commitment
Immediately following an appointment, MAP will agree on a personalised induction plan. The time commitment for this plan will depend partly on the Trustee’s prior knowledge and experience.
MAP hold a minimum of four board meetings a year, conducted on a hybrid basis as noted above. These normally last between three and four hours including a break. There is usually also one full-day session per year dedicated to strategic planning, for which attendance in person is highly desirable.
The Trustee will be expected to join one of the sub-committees of the board. Sub-committee meetings are also held four times a year, on a hybrid basis, and normally last around two hours.
In addition to preparing for and attending meetings, the Trustee will be expected to participate in routine governance activities such as training, appraisals, and recruitment or exit interviews.
Ordinarily, the above commitments would entail between one and two days per month. Applicants are advised that, since the events of October 2023, MAP’s activities have expanded enormously and some of the current Trustees have been contributing significantly more time than this.

Oasis Community Housing (part of the wider Oasis Charitable Group) is a Christian homelessness charity with 40 years’ experience of delivering bespoke, effective services for vulnerably housed and people experiencing homelessness.
We exist to reignite a hope and a future for everyone facing homelessness. We believe that anyone’s life can be transformed however dark things may seem.
We run supported accommodation programmes in the North-East and London for young people, particularly young women and mums facing homelessness for a variety of reasons. We also run drop-in crisis centres providing emergency housing on a ‘housing first, no questions asked basis’, a warm shower, food, clothing and access to advice. Additionally we run a programme to help victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence to break the cycle of abusive relationships.
The last 3 years have been tumultuous and challenging for us all due to the enduring legacy of the Covid-19 pandemic. Over this period we have been stretched and tested across the range of our work. But in the testing, our passion for our mission and ability to innovate and be agile have shone through.
In spite of the challenges of the last 4 years we have seen a 41% increase in unrestricted donations over the last two years.

Finance – with strategic financial leadership experience in order to ensure effective oversight and risk management at a governance level.

- Creating in conjunction with relevant senior staff sound financial instruments for the control of charity assets.

- Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s Strategic Plan.
- Ensuring that the annual accounts are compliant with the current charities’ SORP.
- Ensuring close working relationships with the internal audit team and Committees of the Board.
- Ensuring that sound financial management is maintained and ensuring expenditure is in line with the charity’s objects.
- Acting as a counter signatory on charity cheques and any applications and receipts of funding (if necessary or mandated).
