Switchboard’s listening service is available to all LGBTQIA+ communities in the UK. It offers a safe space for anyone to discuss anything, including topics such as sexuality, gender identity, sexual health, emotional well-being and more. Handling over 17,000 conversations each year, their services continue to be in high demand, with their network of volunteers covering a vital service to people across the country in times of need, but also providing incredible insights into the issues that impact the LGBTQIA+ community the most.
Since 2021 the organisation has been on a journey to establish a staff team to oversee day-to-day operations within the charity. They are now looking to introduce this new role as they grow throughout 2024 to a team of 11. This is a very exciting time of growth for the charity.
Prospectus is delighted to be supporting Switchboard as they look to appoint a Communications Lead to join the organisation. They will support the communications strategy across the organisation, ensuring effective messaging both internally and externally is being delivered in a clear and compelling manner. This position is offered on a full-time, hybrid basis with 2 days working in the London office a week and the remaining flexibly from home.
The role:
The Communications Lead will report directly to the Head of Communications and Fundraising. They will work to deliver many of Switchboard’s communications and support its fundraising activities. Communicating with service users is key; Switchboard needs to convey compelling stories that build its profile and raise awareness of the brand from a 50-year (and counting!) mission supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
This role will deliver on a strategic communications and marketing plan. Together, these will grow awareness and engagement with the charity’s brand to ensure service users know they are here to listen when needed. Also significant is the need to attract a wide range of volunteers representing all aspects of the LGBTQIA+ communities. The charity is keen to engage potential volunteers across the UK, particularly from underrepresented groups within the Switchboard volunteer community.
From a fundraising perspective, they will communicate the need and value for financial support to the community and potential donors through campaigns to increase Switchboard’s income, which will also be key to this role.
The person:
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in a similar communications-driven role, ideally (but not essentially) in a charity setting but equally this experience could come from other sectors. Confident, either through personal or professional means creating compelling static and video content for social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter (X), Linkedin and perhaps TikTok; with experience designing graphics using Canva, Illustrator or similar, as well as shooting and editing video. This person will be a confident and creative writer. They will have written articles or blogs, as well as copy for social media and websites. And have a basic understanding of website maintenance using a CMS.
A big ingredient of success in this role will be an appreciation of the challenges faced by people from all sections of the LGBTQIA+ community and the importance of equality and diversity in both personal and professional settings. This passion will underpin all of the work carried out by the team and this person will be able to work collaboratively and proactively with a small, hard-working team of like-minded people, all striving for the same aims and objectives. Highly organised and self-motivated, this person will enjoy working as part of a team and will enjoy bringing ideas to the table in addition to being keen to listen to other people’s views and making sure they are heard and incorporated into strategic planning and overall approach to messaging on behalf of the charity.

- Strengthening national planning regulations to protect our public spaces and neighbourhoods from the spread of intrusive, outdoor digital advertising screens.
- The introduction of policies to reduce demand for aviation in a fair and equitable manner, including a frequent flyer levy.
Working with others in the Possible team and our partner organisations on the Badvertising project Adfree Cities and New Weather Institute, you’ll keep on top of the latest developments in areas of sustainable transport, aviation and public space planning policies. You’ll design interventions and events for innovative policy proposals which move the ‘choice architecture’ in which we make decisions away from business-as-usual and towards an economy that puts communities, sustainability and a liveable planet first. In all this you’ll be assisted by experts in the wider Possible team and supported by a caring workplace.

About the Role:
As a talented and self-motivated Picture Editor, you’ll commission, curate and promote our best and most inspiring photographic content, showcasing stories from around the world. The post-holder will work with Brand, Digital, Media and other teams across WaterAid’s global federation to ensure that our best content is used in the most engaging ways. This role will support the Photography Team during a busy period to ensure outstanding photography outputs across the organisation.
In this role, you will act as a photography champion in promoting great content and best practice across WaterAid.
You’ll also:
- Lead on the management and administration of some cross-organisational photo based projects.
- Carry out image selections for brand assets, digital and social media channels and media pitches both proactively and as required by those teams. Carry out picture research requests and/or support colleagues in their research as required.
- Support the Photo Librarian in preparing and uploading new photographic content to Asset Bank along with associated stories, captions, usage rights and consents.
- Work with other members of the Photo team to brief and commission photographers as required.
- Support the development of 6 Community Voices Officers in their photography skills – both in shooting and editing their work.
About You:
- A proven eye for outstanding photography, and the ability to match the strongest imagery with brand and messaging requirements.
- To be passionate about photography, with a depth of both technical and theoretical knowledge and an awareness of current trends in photography and image making.
- Sound experience of working with a range of stakeholders and developing relationships internally and externally.
- A proactive nature with the ability to work independently and hit the ground running.
- Strong copy-editing skills and understanding of what makes a good story. Excellent written English, with meticulous attention to grammar and spelling in writing up and editing captions and case-studies.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Housekeeping Supervisor to join our Housekeeping Team working weekends. Role Requirements
Site wide general housekeeping service – ensure that the housekeeping services is of an acceptable level and is consistent across site.
- Carry out a cleaning service in allocated buildings/rooms/areas ensuring that daily tasks are completed according to the standard operating procedures in relation to the cleanliness/hygiene standards.
- Follow infection control procedures whenever carrying out duties and ensure procedures are followed should there be an infection control outbreak.
- Liaise with the Housekeeping Supervisor and House Staff on a daily basis – carrying out special requests in relation to Housekeeping.
- Ensure safe storage of cleaning materials and equipment and sufficient stock is maintained – informing the Housekeeping Supervisor of stock requiring ordering.
- Assist in the cleaning of communal areas on a daily basis and cleaning of carpets, curtains, and high dusting on a rotating schedule.
- Ensure that any repairs required to fixtures and fittings are reported to the designated Facilities Helpdesk as soon as possible and any issues are reported to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Assist in routine housekeeping audits as outlined in the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and ensure any works are to agreed service levels.
- Prioritise work to complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Assist other members of the Site Services and Facilities teams as required
- Undertake other or additional duties that are within your skills and abilities, as the organisation may reasonabl require from time to time.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer to join the team in our London office (Hammersmith) on a permanent, full-time basis.
You will have a proactive approach with the motivation and ability to work autonomously, under minimum supervision, exercising personal judgement effectively and referring matters where appropriate.

- Manage and maintain the Hansa accounting system, ensuring that the system is complete, accurate and up to date.
- Manage and execute bank and balance sheet reconciliations including prepayments and accruals, analysis of Just Giving, interest, and the interface with the Supporter Database.
- Perform journal entries and corrections. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in Hansa, as appropriate, and close off at month end.
- Reconcile the finance system against the donor database and agree changes to be made with the database team.
- Collate the Gift Aid claims and perform quality control. Train, support and audit the Fundraisers to ensure that Gift Aid is maximised and correct.
- Protection of Maggie’s assets including income and fixed assets by reconciliations and proper recording, and supporting members of staff to follow the correct procedures according to the Finance Manual.
- Support Treasury and cash management and ensure that investment income is optimised by keeping the accounting system up to date and accurate.
- Assist in preparing the Maggie’s management accounts from Hansa. The management information must be accurate, timely and relevant on a monthly basis or as required.
- Assist in the annual external audit, and provide information for the Auditors as required.

We are delighted to be recruiting for our next Director of Services, who'll manage our adult, family and youth services, supporting ADHD and Autistic people in NW London, their families, and the professionals who work with them. Job Summary
CAAS provide an ADHD and Autism Support Service for the 8 boroughs of NW London, from our base in Eastcote, with a team of Support Workers. Our work includes offering information, advice, and support to ADHD / autistic people, their families, and professionals in NW London, with the aim of improving quality of life and developing neurodiverse-aware communities. Some of the support is offered through one2one meetings, some of the support is provided through groups and courses which aim to increase understanding and awareness, and provide opportunities for peer support, and some of the support is offered through training and workshops to educate professionals and drive for accommodations to be made to services to allow greater access for our client group.
As Director of Services, you will work closely with the CEO, leading on the management of the Adult Services, Youth Services and Family Services workstreams within the charity, ensuring the high quality service provision for which we are known. The role sits within the senior leadership team at CAAS, alongside the Finance Director, and manages the Youth Services Manager, the Family Services Manager and the Adult Services Manager, who in turn manage around 20 staff between them.
The Director of Services provides a crucial role in ensuring the infrastructure and operational workings of the charity are effective for the more than 30 staff we employ, and the more than 11,000 instances of support we provide each year. Therefore, we are looking for a capable, calm, self-motivated, organised and hard-working Services professional who has worked in a management role directly responsible for service delivery in another charity.
The role requires strong organisation skills, excellent communication and relationship building skills, significant experience of operational service delivery, team leadership experience, the ability to articulate and drive our impact, and a good understanding of fundraising and monitoring requirements in a medium sized charity. Lastly you will be responsible for collecting evidence and data, crucial for comprehensive fundraising reports, that contribute to the organisation’s sustained financial health and growth.
To be considered for this role, you will have significant experience as a Grants Administrator/ in Charity/NGO Grant activities, with experience in managing projects and knowledge of funder/ grant portals such as FLUXX, Cybergrants or Givingdata. You will have strong organisational skills, be highly proficient with MS Office suite and have the ability to work a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Please note, this is a full-time role, 37.5 hour per week. You will be required to be based on site at their Covent Garden office 3 days every 2 weeks, with the remaining days WFH (there can be flexibility with this). We are looking for a part time (25 hours per week) Salesforce Administrator to support with grants administration for a small community focused grant giving foundation. Above all else, you will need to have excellent attention to detail, and be enthusiastic, hard-working with a can-do attitude. They work in a fast-paced, but friendly and supportive environment, where you can be sure that your contribution will have a real impact on the charity's ability to deliver its vital work to thousands of young people. This role is part time and is 3 days in their Oval office per week and is expected to last 2-3 months, so you must be immediately available.
- Responsible for day to day running of database (Salesforce) for the grants team.
- Ensuring all donations and grants are correctly recorded on the database and thanked appropriately.
- Help maintain accurate, consistent, and reliable information about supporters for fundraising and relationship-development purposes
- Assist with data segmentation, creating data lists for mailing, correct recording and analysis of income for development purposes.
