Main purpose of the role:

The Community Leader (Director) leads the Community in living the mission of L’Arche in our community life, by providing outstanding, person-centred and financially sustainable care and support services, by support for shared community and spirituality, and by engagement with the wider community around us.

Are you a leader who can:

• Inspire and lead a diverse and talented community of over 100 individuals with and without learning disabilities -  people we support, employees, volunteers, long-term friends and members.
• Oversee and develop £2.5 million worth of registered care, supported living, and day services, ensuring compliance with CQC requirements, alignment with the L’Arche vision and values, and maintaining financial sustainability.
• Lead a team of 70 employees through strategic direction, effective processes and service delivery, and emotionally intelligent, collaborative, forward-thinking people management.
• Represent L’Arche London externally in fundraising efforts, outreach to build local partnerships, and participation in L’Arche UK leadership and governance forums.

• Embody and advocate for the L’Arche ethos of cultivating deep, long-term, and mutually transformative relationships between individuals with and without learning disabilities.
• The L’Arche London Community includes nine supported living services, one registered care home, and two day workshops, serving 34 individuals—all located within a mile of West Norwood Station.

The Role

• Lead a community that intentionally responds to the needs, choices and context of our members, and is faithful to the L’Arche UK Vision and Values, and Mission statement, and to a co-created Community Mandate and plan.
• Maintain and enhance high-quality, person-centred care, support, and housing for people with learning disabilities, both at home and in our day services. .
• Ensure the Community’s financial sustainability through robust financial planning and management. 
• Foster a culture that maximises the voice and power for people with learning disabilities, and builds listening and collaboration between Community members with and without learning disabilities (including through an active Community Support Group, Community Council, Community Gatherings, listening circles, and other forums).
• Lead and manage a diverse, committed, and engaged leadership team to achieve objectives, set a positive culture, and support the personal and professional growth of our leaders.
• Cultivate an open, creative, and inclusive spiritual life, inviting everyone in the Community to deepen their collective growth.  Support and encourage events that build community belonging.
• Model, advocate for, and embrace the L’Arche ethos of deep, long-term, and mutually transforming relationships between people with and without learning disabilities.

Starlight is the national charity transforming children’s health through play. We work 
to ensure that every child can benefit from the incredible power of play, supporting 
their mental and physical health during treatment and recovery from illness.
Play is not just a ‘nice to have’, without play, children can experience short, and 
long-term problems. In fact, it’s so important, that being able to engage in play is 
one of the human rights listed in the UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Without play, problems faced can range from anxiety around having blood tests 
which could mean appointments being abandoned and rescheduled, to developing 
PTSD and a fear around visiting hospitals and healthcare settings. It’s not 
uncommon for health play specialists to have to meet children in the car park as 
they are too scared to even set foot inside the hospital.
Each year, there are nearly 1.8 million child hospital admissions in the UK and 
nearly three-quarters (71%) of NHS trusts and health boards do not have any 
budget for play.

This is simply not good enough; we think that play in healthcare is non-negotiable.
Driven by our research and insights into what works best for them, we provide direct 
services and resources for children and their families; and to the health 
professionals working with them. We also advocate for more and better health play 
services in public policy; and promote the full recognition of health play practitioners 
as an integral component of the children’s health workforce.
Our Health Play Services Delivery team provide physical and digital materials and 
resources which support the delivery of health play to practitioners and families. 
These are informed by insight, evidence and evaluation from our Insight and Impact 
Team.
Central to these materials and resources is our range of Boxes which contain toys 
and activities specifically selected to help children relax, distract, and engage to 
ensure their treatment can be carried out as quickly and effectively as possible with 
minimal stress. 
The current Health Play Services Delivery Manager is about to be seconded to a 
new Commercial Development role, initially for 6-months, as we shape the 
development of a new source of income for Starlight through paid for services. 
There may be the possibility of an extension to this contract depending upon the 
outcome of the secondment.
The Health Play Services Delivery Manager, reporting to our Head of Play leads the 
end-to-end process of our services. You’ll need experience in the operational 
management of service delivery and experience of working with the NHS and in 
children’s services would be an advantage. You’ll work across all areas from 
procurement through stock control to the logistics of delivery and you’ll build 
relationships internally and externally to ensure efficient, effective, high quality 
service delivery and excellent customer relationship management. Reporting 
directly to the Head of Play, you’ll manage the Service Delivery Co-ordinator and
the Service Data Officer within the Hospital Services Team.

I am excited to be working with a fantastic social welfare charity in search of a temporary, part-time (22.5 hours a week) Policy Manager. This is a London based hybrid role for up to 6-months. You will join a friendly and supportive team and play a key role in ensuring the organisations policy influencing work is current and supported by strong analysis and evidence.

Main duties:

Lead on developing our policy positions and ensure that they are clear and well evidenced.

Lead on keeping our knowledge of housing policy up to date, tracking political changes post the General Election and seeking opportunities for influence.

Track developments post the General Election and pivoting our work where necessary to align with national and local priorities

Develop and update a ‘policy positions’ document, including outlining key facts and stats to support our positions

Write responses to relevant consultations and other policy and public affairs opportunities, in collaboration with public affairs colleagues

Work with the Campaigns and Public Affairs Manager (Homes) to refine our national and local influencing strategies to ensure our policy positions are enacted, including stakeholder mapping

Work with the wider Homes team to provide advice on how to incorporate policy work into their interactions with local leaders and projects

Work with the Homes and Communications team to craft impactful, meaningful media lines

Write content for our national and local influencing activities

Produce policy research to help the Homes team develop policy and influencing positions

Undertake literature & evidence reviews and interview sector experts and practitioners

Use the findings to come to clear conclusions, and develop new policy positions – testing ideas with external stakeholders where appropriate

The European College of Equine Internal Medicine (ECEIM) was established in 2000 and is a not-for-profit speciality college that oversees the training, examination and completion/maintenance of credential requirements of veterinarians who are equine internal medicine specialists, referred to as ECEIM Diplomates. Currently the college is run by a team of dedicated trustees and are eager to take the next step and create capacity for growth.

This is a brand new role and in which you will have the opportunity to shape and develop what a successful Chief Operating Officer looks like for this exciting and far reaching college. Your role will be to enable ECEIM to operate more effectively in order to facilitate the College’s growth, working with the board members to understand their vision, and work to enhance, develop and support on existing  key processes and procedures that help the college to run effectively. This role will ultimately support ECEIM’s mission and key objectives to advance equine internal medicine in Europe and increase the competency of those who practice in this field.

Whilst this role has an exciting future focus, a key part of your remit will be to oversee the day-to-day running of the college and help ensure everything is working well, keeping abreast of important deadlines such as key governance and compliance or liaising with external partner firms to ensure that they deliver key events on ECEIM’s behalf.

About you:

As this is a brand new role you will need to feel confident in the listening and learning phase as well as being able to see the improvements, recommend developments and create any next steps needed to support the ECEIM board and ultimately get the role off the ground.

You  will have the chance to utilise your experience in both big picture thinking, as well as your ability to design and develop processes and ways of working that will help ECEIM to take the next steps.

Whilst it is advantageous for you to have held a similar role before, a background in project or programme management, leading a department, operations management or financial management could bring the blend of key skills that will help you be successful in this role.

An understanding of academia and the importance of professionalism, credentials and high level qualifications is helpful and while an understanding the importance of ECEIM’s mission and animal welfare is essential, you don't need to have necessarily had any experience in the animal welfare sector.

What we can offer you:

Salary: circa £30,000 to £32,000 per annum, actual (circa £56,000 to £60,000 FTE). This would be reviewed on an annual basis.

Location: Remote role, working from home. UK based.

Hours of work: Your contracted hours are 20 hours per week. Exact working pattern can be discussed with the successful candidate. About ECEIM

The European College of Equine Internal Medicine (ECEIM) is a not-for-profit speciality college that oversees the training, examination and completion/maintenance of credential requirements of veterinarians who are equine internal medicine specialists.

The ECEIM was established in 2000 and in 2010 became a fully recognised member of the European Board of Veterinary Specialisation (EBVS), a regulatory Board of all European veterinary specialty colleges. As a recognised EBVS specialist in equine internal medicine serves the veterinary patient, its owner and the public by providing expert care for horses, ponies, donkeys, mules and other Equidae with medical diseases. Furthermore, an ECEIM Diplomate aims to increase the competency of those who practice in this field through training and dissemination of knowledge.

We are looking for a Health Communications Specialist to develop engaging evidence-based information for the public and key professionals on cancer risk, prevention, early diagnosis and screening. Cancer Research UK is the most trusted provider of cancer information in the UK and you will be responsible for helping steer what we say and how we say it, ensuring our health information is evidence based, accessible and credible.

What will I be doing?

• Developing a sound knowledge base of globally published key research on cancer risk, prevention, early diagnosis and screening. This will include regular monitoring of recently published papers as well as deep dives to help answer specific questions (this will include research funded by Cancer Research UK and others).

• Taking the lead on critiquing epidemiological evidence for specific topic areas, including contributing to team discussions and written summaries for these topics.

• Producing accurate, engaging and enabling content for the general public on cancer risk, prevention, early diagnosis and screening for our audiences through a range of channels. This includes leaflets, newsletters, webpages, digital articles and social media, with a focus on using these resources to tackle inequalities and barriers facing groups with the worst cancer outcomes.

• Building relationships with stakeholders - guiding activity and delivering evidence-based, creative health-related content that meets user needs (e.g., for press / fundraising / policy / campaigns activity).

What skills do I need to have?

• Ability to critique epidemiological/public health research papers and confidently make conclusions and recommendations.

• Experience of/passion for writing about and talking about complex health information for a non-scientific audience in an accessible and engaging way.

• Good understanding of cancer and/or public health.

• Flexible approach that allows you to balance proactive and reactive tasks, allowing you to manage quickly changing priorities within your usual working day, re-prioritising tasks or asking for support as appropriate.

• Able to build effective working relationships with colleagues, researchers, health professionals and other stakeholders.

About the role

The Director of Operations leads all our member-facing services and operations to ensure that these services run effectively. The post holder is responsible for overseeing business planning and managing income streams, ensuring financial sustainability. They will maintain all relationships with local authorities, Integrated Care Boards, and private funders, ensuring the quality of services and adherence to best practices, regulations, and legislation.

• Provide strategic leadership to the service leads for all our member-facing services, and the administration and premises team to ensure the efficient delivery, quality, and consistency of services, guided by the principles of co-production.
• Oversee the development of plans and strategies for each team and instil a sense of collaboration, common goals, and working together across the departments to ensure the sustainability of our services.
•  Oversee all budgets within the departments.
• Build good relationships with stakeholders in the boroughs we serve to develop opportunities for growth and development of our services.
• Lead on commissioning/tender/framework contracting arrangements with the local authorities we serve.
• Lead on safeguarding and health and safety to ensure we are compliant in all areas.
• Work with staff to ensure our members’ voices are at the centre of everything we do.

About you

We're seeking a passionate and experienced user experience (UX) leader to spearhead our user-centred design initiatives. You'll champion a culture of evidence-based optimisation, manage analytics to blend qualitative and quantitative insights and collaborate with our lived experience team to ensure inclusive product development. You'll lead upstream product activities, partnering with various teams to align digital strategies with organisational goals. Your responsibilities will include conducting discovery activities, supporting downstream development, and contributing to product vision and roadmap creation. You'll also oversee user research, usability testing, and the implementation of a comprehensive content strategy.

Job Profile

The role of the Major Gifts and Philanthropy (MGP) Team Research and Information Manager is a unique role within the sector and CAFOD. Working across MGP (which is made up of Major Donors and Corporate teams) as well as others, such as the Trusts and Foundations Team, it has been developed to meet the growing needs of planning and reporting across MGP and to ensure income growth is focused on raising the funds needed to achieve short and long term organisation priorities.

A pivotal role, the post-holder will hold lead expertise in philanthropy communications at CAFOD, working with other stakeholders to identify funding priorities so MGP can achieve an income forecast of nearly £3.17m in 2024/25.

Managing the Research and Information Executive, the post-holder will make sure that concept notes, proposals and reports are written for the most strategic work, and that MGP relationship managers are informed of projects in need of funding. With oversight of all team donor proposals, reporting and communications, you will ensure they align with CAFOD’s values, especially promoting anti-racist messages in line with our commitment to becoming an anti-racist organisation. 

The post-holder will share key donor trends and work closely with the Philanthropy Manager and Corporate Partnerships Manager to understand their research needs and develop a research strategy. Alongside the Research and Information Executive, you will complete research into top-level prospects and donors. 

This post sits in the MGP team, which is part of the Fundraising and Participation Group. As MGP’s information and prospect research expert, you will work with the Executive team, International Programmes, Integrated Fundraising and Business Innovation team, Data and Insight, Communications and Finance teams as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic leadership of MGP’s funding portfolio & engagement 

• Lead on the implementation of MGP’s funding strategy, maintaining a funding proposal pipeline and tracking where funds have been secured for projects, so it sits as a centre of excellence across CAFOD

• Oversee donor communications for the team, including appeals and cases for support for CAFOD’s most strategic work: unrestricted, and our humanitarian funding initiative, Every Second Counts; ensuring communications comply with anti-racist communication and fundraising principles 

• Build strong relationships with International Programmes staff and facilitate meetings for them to share strategic work with MGP team 

• Identify and influence change, especially relating to donor systems and processes 

• Work with Country teams to source relevant information and write funding proposals and reports for donors

• Mentor MGP relationship managers ensuring they can write their funding materials with success 

• Work with the Head of MGP to continually improve MGP systems and processes, and adapt them where necessary 

Lead prospect and donor research 

• Use expertise to research and evaluate information on donors and prospective donors, focusing on high-value supporters 

• Working with the team leads, identify their research needs and develop and implement a prospect research strategy that meets these 

• Identify key trends relevant to the MGP team - collating and analyse internal and external donor trends and reports and sharing them with the team 

• Work with the Head of MGP and the senior International Programme (IP) team to develop new multi-year initiatives and feasibility/ scoping studies

• Alongside the Philanthropy Manager have an overview of MGP’s supporter Ethical Checks Policy and support ethical checks and policy compliance as needed

• Work across the team to maintain donor profiles, train and guide the team members in writing their profiles, briefing notes and event profiles 

• Work with team leads and external research agencies for profiling and wealth screening audits. 

 Information Management  

• Maintain donor contact details in compliance with GDPR, data protection legislation and fundraising best practices 

• Have an overview of all MGP requests to CAFOD’s Data and Insight team and assist as required in gathering internal donor trends and reports 

• Work with the team to manage systems and records and update information on high-priority donors as required. 

 Budget & Planning 

• Participate in MGP planning and budget activities 

• Analyse income-related reports and share them with the Head of MGP

• Benchmark, monitor, draw upon and share best practices with MGP

 People Management    

• Line Manage, develop and support the Research & Information Executive by championing our purpose and values through building strong and safe working relationships, setting SMART objectives and conducting performance reviews
