Strategic Lead

We have an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Lead to join the team in this remote working role offering full or part-time hours.

Position: Strategic Lead (REACH)

Location: Office-based or Remote (meetings in London approximately once a month)

Hours: Full or part-time hours available

Salary: £70,000-£80,000 or £300 - 350 day rate

Contract: Fixed term contract, 6 months – ideally October 2024 to March 2025

The Role

In May 2024, the organisation launched REACH (Researching Effective Approaches for Children): A plan to find out what works to prevent domestic abuse and support child victims. 

You will develop a detailed plan to operationalise the REACH Plan, including the structure, governance, funding, partnerships and activities that will lead to finding what works in prevention and recovery from domestic abuse. You will also build key relationships in the sector, in survivor networks, in academia and among research funders and in national government to ensure acceptability and secure support for the plan and its objectives

Working closely with the leadership team, you will progress the existing plan to the point of being ready to launch a successful programme of work in April 2025.

About you

You will have:

· A degree-level education or equivalent experience

· Operational experience: experience of organisational development and leadership

· An excellent understanding of the domestic abuse sector, including practice, policy and research

· A strong understanding of evidence (including experimental evidence), evidence based policy, and the role that evidence plays in service improvement

About the role:

We understand that a spinal cord injury can be devastating, but we believe it shouldn’t prevent anyone from getting the most out of life. And we’re here to help make sure that can happen through our range of services that are designed by, and delivered for people affected by spinal cord injury.

The role of Head of Services is a new one and reflects the growth and diversification of how we reach our audience and offer them support. We want to reach everyone affected by spinal cord injury across the UK.

As our Head of Services, you will lead the development, quality and sustainability of an award-winning portfolio including our Mentoring, Digital, Courses and Vocation Services – as well as providing support to oversee our vital Volunteer Development Programme.

As the only charity in the UK with dedicated services for children and young people with spinal cord injury, you will also use your expertise to guide this key area of our work.

Reporting to the Director of Services and working with the Head of Strategic Engagement, you will play a key role in the strategic leadership of the directorate.

You will be naturally driven to achieve the best outcomes for people affected by spinal cord injury. Above all, you will be passionate about being able to demonstrate the impact of what we do, and you will see for yourself how Back Up quite literally transforms lives every day.

Beyond Support – Women’s Telephone Support Worker – Southampton

Beyond the Streets is a small charity with a big determination to see routes out for women selling sex in the UK.  Our ‘Direct Work’ is central to the organisation, and due to an increase in service demand we are looking to increase our staff team by recruiting a Women’s Telephone Support Worker.

Working as part of a small team in our office in Southampton, you will be responsible for providing regular telephone support to a caseload of women.  Within this, you will be often the first point of support for women involved in the sex industry, offering a listening ear for them to process some of their feelings and experiences within this space and providing emotional support; as well as providing more practical assistance to overcome the barriers they face in accessing support.  This could be through advocating with external agencies e.g., mental health, housing, problematic substance use, homelessness, poverty, domestic abuse, sexual violence, the criminal justice system; and to make positive steps forward with their lives.

• Resilience to work with women who have often experienced trauma
• A responsible, dedicated and flexible approach to work
• Competent IT knowledge and computer skills

Location: Southampton - office based.

Hours:         28 hours per week with some core working hours

Leave:25 days, plus Bank Holidays (F.T.E)

Salary:     £22,800 - £24,000 (£28,500-£30,000 full time equivalent)
