Located in London’s Mayfair and overlooking Green Park, the Royal Air Force Club offers first class facilities and a ‘home from home' to its 24,000 members, predominantly serving and former officers of the RAF and Allied Air Forces and their families.

Background:

Due to significant losses during the Covid pandemic, a Club appeal for donations was launched in 2020. The Friends of the RAF Club was established in 2021 to recognize these generous Members, many of whom have maintained their donations which have subsequently funded key refurbishment projects in the Club. Support of The Friends contributes significantly to the Club’s financial recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

The Director of Fundraising will be expected to deliver in 3 key areas:

DEVELOPMENT OF THE MEMBERSHIP GIVING JOURNEY

• Enhance the Friends Scheme through life giving and particularly ending with the Legacy commitment:
• Review and manage the fundraising strategy
• Retain, recruit and steward the Friends of the RAF Club
• Devise and implement a legacy strategy
• Devise and implement a series of engagement and stewardship events for the Friends of the RAF Club

CAPITAL CAMPAIGNS

• Deliver the funding to help pay for capital projects within the Club:
• In liaison with the House Committee, devise and manage the 2025 appeal campaign to fund the refurbishment of The Running Horse Tavern (the Club’s onsite ‘pub’)

DELIVERY OF ASSOCIATED ADMINISTRATION

• In compliance with the Fundraising Code, GDPR and all other associated regulations:
• Run Friends and Legacy schemes
• Timely and appropriate communication and follow-up with all relevant parties (accepting this is a part-time role)
• Event delivery for Friends events
• Manage the systems and processes to track, administer and report on donations received
• Prepare and produce fundraising marketing collateral.
• Prepare and submit Gift Aid claims
• Prepare all papers and minutes for the Fundraising and Legacy Committee (FR&LC), actioning all fundraising initiatives
• Prepare FR&LC reports for the Board of Trustees
• Promote and acknowledge the ‘Hive Heroes’ supporting the Club bees
• Administer and acknowledge donations to the Staff Christmas appeal
• Manage requests for Club support from external charities and partnerships[1] 

Additional Responsibilities:

• Be an ambassador for the Club embodying and communicating our values and impact at all times Ensure all activities undertaken comply with the Fundraising Code and GDPR pertaining to fundraising activity
• Attend a variety of Club network events and dinners, where identified or required
• Attend internal Club meetings, training sessions, events where required
• Perform other duties, as and when required, to meet business needs

Priorities (KPI) for Delivery in 2024/25:

• Priority 1 - Friends Scheme - ensure lines of communication are kept open for all Friends (Gold, Silver and Bronze) - focusing effort to personally engage and get to know Gold and Silver Friends. Increase membership at all 3 levels. Devise and deliver (how many?) Events for Friends.
• Priority 2 - Capital Project - 'Running Horse Tavern refurbishment'. Supported lead to devise and deliver fundraising from potential donors. Minimum target: £100,000 (check this amount is right)
• Priority 3 - Membership Giving Journey - Development and implementation of a membership giving journey, with particular emphasis on delivery of a Legacy Programme.
• Achieve the existing fundraising target of £120,000 in calendar year 2024 (currently ahead of target).

Person Specification:

• Operate effectively at the highest/senior levels.
• Proven track record of working with legacies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; outstanding social skills; able to easily engage and communicate with a wide spectrum of Club members and guests.

Xenia is a grassroots women’s organisation on a mission to create more inclusive, equal and welcoming communities. We deliver weekly workshops in London and Sheffield which support women from all backgrounds, ages, faiths, cultures and immigration statuses to share, connect and learn together. 

Participants are at the heart of the Xenia community. Migrant, refugee, asylum seeking, and British women come together as active equals at our workshops where we use the arts, heritage and power of conversation to connect, learn from each other and take part in local civic life. Together we create a community that supports practising spoken English, reduces social isolation, connects different cultures, and gives underrepresented women access to civic and democratic opportunities. 

As an organisation Xenia is non-hierarchical and participatory, meaning decisions are made collectively and are proactively informed by participant involvement. The organisation is run by an Organising Team, made up of a small number of staff (currently 5) and volunteers and the trustee board. We aim to be true to our values that everyone has something to teach and everyone has something to learn. We do not have managers and instead operate in a flatter structure in which everyone contributes to running the organisation.

Job Description for Fundraising and Development Organiser:

Key responsibilities

• Fundraising

  • Securing circa £130k per year from a range of sources. This includes submitting applications to trusts, foundations. It may also include maintaining major donor relationships, and establishing new relationships and leading on public fundraising campaigns. 

  • Developing other sources of income generation as agreed with the Finance & Fundraising sub-group

  • Work with the team to develop Communications and Fundraising Strategies, with support from Organising Team members and Trustees

• Grant management

  • Liaison with funders and donors

  • In collaboration with Delivery Organisers: coordination & submission of grant reporting, monitoring grant deadlines and submission requirements

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, dynamic, and professional fundraiser to lead the team at Treloar’s. As the Director of Fundraising, you will develop and implement innovative fundraising strategies, oversee a dedicated and passionate team and support them in generating significant income through a variety of channels, including trusts and foundations, events, corporate partnerships, individual giving, and major donations.

We are looking for someone with a strong track record in senior-level charitable fundraising. You should bring advanced knowledge of a wide variety of fundraising channels, compliance expertise, and exceptional leadership skills. Experience in the education or disability sectors and relevant qualifications in fundraising are advantageous.

We are looking for an enthuiastic and driven Head of Fundraising and Development who has a strong track record of success in strategic development and management of six-figure funding partnerships and relationship building.

You will develop and foster relationships with the aim of obtaining financial support for the sustainable development and growth of QEST. Stewarding existing funders and developing new business, the role also presents an opportunity over the long term, once funding is secured, to lead and build a fundraising team at a transformational time in QEST’s development and strategic direction.  There is currently a Fundraising Manager.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working with the CEO and Fundraising Manager to devise, develop, and deliver a fundraising strategy for QEST to achieve diversification of income (restricted and unrestricted) for the long term with a particular focus on:

o Trusts & Foundations (strong track-record)

o Corporate funders

o Statutory funders

o Sponsors/commercial partners

o Major donors and philanthropy

• Reporting to the CEO and Board of Trustees you will secure and maintain sustainable income streams, in line with agreed targets which meet our charitable objectives, focusing on six-figure+ strategic partnerships where possible
•  Developing a communications strategy for fundraising with the CEO and Communications Manager; as well as creating fundraising promotional material for print, newsletters, websites and other media as required
• Establishing transparent and open reporting protocols, working closely with the CEO and Finance Manager to meet the needs of financial reporting, forecasting, management accounts and the Annual Review
• Working closely with the CEO, Fundraising Manager and Board members, partners and supporters to develop partnerships and advocate for QES
• Working with the Project Manager to create and organise fundraising-specific activities and events
• Identifying commercial opportunities, nurturing and converting potential prospects in support of specific activities, projects and overheads
• Cultivating, building, optimising and managing relationships with existing and new funders, sponsors, partners and supporters
• Writing and compiling regular reports to funders, sponsors and partners as required
• Providing on-going reports to the CEO and Board of Trustees on fundraising income, goals, and initiatives
• Promoting and complying with current legislation and ensure fundraising and partnerships meet the organisation’s policies on EDI; GDPR; Health & Safety and Safeguarding

An exciting position has arisen to join the fundraising team at Support Through Court - a small social justice charity that packs a big punch. We help increase access to justice for those who, due to severe cuts to legal aid, are forced to face the Civil and Family courts alone and without legal representation, often in life-changing cases such as domestic violence, eviction, and debt. 

This role helps raise vital funds for the charity from partnerships with corporates in the legal world.  You will have the support of the Fundraising team to develop your skills and experience as a fundraiser. There is potential for fast progression and lots of personal development opportunities.  

As a small charity, good development opportunities and tailored support are available for staff. We offer flexible working and most fundraising staff have hybrid working arrangements with two days a week at the Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, London, WC2A 2LL. Internships can run for up to 6 months, with the view of progression within the charity.
