POPS is a Charity, set up in 1988 by families who were supporting a loved one through a custodial sentence. Since that time, we have grown to employ over a hundred staff, across 16 geographical locations, predominantly in the Northwest of England and has developed an excellent reputation locally and nationally for the provision of quality services for families who engage with the Justice system. 

POPS’ core business team supports the delivery of services and have been influential in contributing to Justice policy both locally and nationally.  We are now looking to add to the Executive Team to contribute to the future proofing of the organisation to respond to new opportunities in a changing Justice landscape.

PURPOSE OF THE POST

The purpose of the post is to work closely with POPS’ Director, to ensure the quality and compliant delivery of POPS’ service located currently across Northwest, Yorkshire, Leicester and Bristol. You will drive forward POPS strategic and development plans to ensure the organisations’ future growth both locally and nationally.

The post will have significant responsibilities to ensure successful operational delivery and compliance of all POPS’ Services and commissioned projects and have a key role supporting the development of new business and engaging in newly identified commissioning opportunities.

The role requires strong leadership, resilience and creativity with the capacity to manage performance; develop and motivate staff teams; ensure contractual compliance; innovate and implement service delivery; develop and maintain productive strategic partnerships and to ensure quality and future growth of POPS’ services and the organisation.  

MAIN TASKS

STRATEGY

• Work closely with POPS’ Director to meet organisational objectives and aims within the strategic plan
• Develop national, regional and local partnership to enable POPS to fulfil its mission and strategic plan
• Oversee development of ideas and implementation of required interventions to ensure future organisational growth
• Provide comprehensive reports to ensure that POPS’ Director and Board of Trustees are provided oversight of governance; quality assurance; performance against set KPI’s; future planning, fundraising and new business development.

OPERATIONS

• Directly line manage POPS’ three Operations Managers
• Ensure high performance standards and production of quality outcomes, ensuring contractual KPI’s are met
• Work closely with Assistant Director for Core Business functions to ensure services are delivered within legislative and financial requirements
• Work with Operations managers to ensure contractual compliance: ensure that appropriate targets and monitored and achieved.
• Support the recruitment and development of staff 
• Work effectively with all colleagues to achieve agreed goals and respond to challenges in a timely and constructive way.
• Maintain good financial discipline, manage multiple funding streams; ensure organisational financial probity by implementing and developing appropriate financial controls and systems.
• Maintain and develop measurement and metrics to evaluate service delivery and demonstrate impact
• Produce Business Continuity and Risk Management plans and review on quarterly basis to Identify risks to services delivery, contractual compliance, staff competency, and develop solutions to mitigate against such risk.
• Attend and host internal and external meetings
• Produce reports to meet internal and external deadlines
• Ensure POPS’ Policies and procedures are implemented and fully complied with

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT 

• Directly line manage POPS’ Bid Manager
• Scan the landscape to maximise opportunities and support sustainable growth.
• Maintain positive and productive working relationships with current and future commissioner agencies.  
• Maintain and develop strong partnerships with a range of national, regional and local agencies and develop collaborative working practices
• Attend Market engagement and stakeholder events
• Support bid writing process to meet commissioning deadlines 
• Ensure the involvement of service user voice in all aspects of POPS service delivery and development.
• Develop a culture of imaginative thinking to generate and listen to ideas from all stakeholders.

GENERAL

We are looking to recruit a Philanthropy Officer to join us at this very exciting time. The Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for the relationship management of a portfolio of around 100 prospective donors in order to raise funds for a range of key projects. They will be responsible for the entire prospect relationship management process including researching, cultivating, asking and stewarding. 

This role will play an integral part in supporting donations to improve student experience and across key areas of research.

As part of an award-winning team and led by some of the most respected names in higher education fundraising, you’ll get the chance to work across the team and wider university to encourage new donors to make long-term, sustainable and significant £5k plus gifts. You will also have the opportunity to work with our senior team on proposals to top donors enabling you to get experience of working with some of the most successful and experienced major gift fundraisers in the UK Higher Education sector.

Key Responsibilities

Facilities and supplies

1. Manage Health and safety within the offices including routine checks and regulatory compliance checks to promote a safe working environment in line with policies on Health and Safety, highlighting any significant deficiencies to a senior colleague.

2. Manage office supplies.

3. Manage all supplier contracts.

Data management

1. Work alongside the GRASAC team to ensure that all service activity is recorded, monitored and evaluated to meet regular deadlines.

2. Oversee data storage systems, ensuring data backups.

3. Ensure regulatory compliance and stay up to date with data privacy regulations.

4. Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders as required.

5. Provide on-going support for casework management system.

Communication with stakeholders

1. Respond to all phone and email enquiries.

2. Manage all general inboxes

3. Manage all client referrals, including initial contact with all potential clients and uploading referrals to data management system.

4. Coordinate the provision and analysis of client feedback surveys.

Media and Comms

1. Manage GRASAC’s social media including regular posting of agreed information.

2. Manage GRASAC’s website ensuring it is updated as necessary.

3. Manage and distribute all publicity information.

4. Support GRASAC fundraising events, awareness raising events and activities.

Administrative support

1. Process and manage invoices for approval.

2. Oversee petty cash, including disbursements and reconciliation.

3. Process all expenses ensuring they are completed with all necessary information prior to approval.

4. Coordinate all recruitment (staff, volunteers and trustees).

5. Manage all DBS checks including updates.

6. Provide administrative support to the CEO as required.

7. Minute agreed meetings.

General Responsibilities:

About the role

The newly-created role of Digital Content & Campaigns Manager will sit within the National Communications Team to support the delivery of key charity and federation-wide objectives.

The Charity Communications Executive is an integral part of the RLSS UK communications team, within the Charity Directorate, with responsibility for supporting the delivery of objectives relating to the strategic framework. KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications/Marketing

• Work collaboratively with the charity communication and marketing department with national campaigns to raise brand awareness and deliver vital water safety messages.
• Lead the organisation’s public relations; managing our media function including writing press releases, responding to and managing media calls, requests, and enquires, as well as briefing spokespeople for media appearances.
• Monitor, evaluate, and report on marketing communication performance to the Charity Communications Manager.
• Work with agencies, where appropriate, to ensure they are achieving specification and are delivering ROI.
• Ensuring that the RLSS UK brand is consistent, used correctly and is enticing and familiar to the public.

Membership Communications

• Manage the process, from conception to delivery, of the organisation’s staple membership communication, Lifesavers magazine, on a bi-annual basis. This includes –

- Project planning (including budgets, deadlines, relationship management etc)

- Content writing and creation

Reporting to our Development Director, the Membership Manager will lead our membership strategy, focusing on growth in individual giving and creating opportunities for our supporters to see the impact of their contributions. While experience in journalism is a plus, what matters most is your ability to build a robust individual giving programme. Role and Responsibilities:
● Create compelling narratives encouraging our audience to become Bureau Insiders and highlighting the impact of their support. This includes editorial campaigns, evergreen mailers, and time-limited membership drives.
● Develop and lead campaigns to boost reader revenue, including through crowdfunders.
● Manage all aspects of effective and inspiring supporter journeys, such as newsletter and membership onboarding, upsells, and cancellation flows, with a focus on engagement, conversion, and retention.
● Refine our stewardship process, identifying potential membership perks that will retain and grow membership.
● Manage the Bureau Insiders community and pipeline, responding to/directing queries and identifying members with potential to increase their giving.
● Collaborate closely with the audience, editorial, and production teams. Joint priorities include managing membership CTAs across all our platforms (newsletter, social, website), and experimenting with new formats to attract new members and help Insiders feel closer to our journalism, such as our TBIJ Live events series.
● Tracking key performance metrics, and producing regular progress reports and updates for the broader team.
● Designing and administering surveys and focus groups, interpreting audience data for audience segments and audience needs.
● Act as our voice on membership within the Bureau and the wider industry.

Director at Declassified UK

Established in 2019, Declassified UK is a small, growing media organisation that has quickly become known for ground-breaking, critical journalism challenging the British establishment on UK foreign policy issues.

The UK’s traditional media is increasingly acting as part of the establishment, failing to report independently on Britain’s policies around the world. By contrast, Declassified is independent and beholden to no-one, relying on the public and trusts & foundations for our finances, and drawing on a distinguished board and group of advisers.

We are seeking to appoint a new Director to succeed our co-founder Mark Curtis who will consolidate our reputation and take the organisation to its next level.

We will continue producing high quality written and visual journalism and seek to increase our political impact and reach bigger audiences, within the budgetary and capacity constraints that we have.

This is a unique, exciting opportunity for a person who is an excellent people manager and team player, who is skilled at organisational development and who can give strong support to our expert staff and our communications, fundraising and editorial needs.

Fundraising
● work with relevant staff to drive trusts & foundations and public fundraising, helping to innovate our approaches towards existing and new public audiences.
● after a transition, to be agreed in discussions, the Director may assume direct responsibility for managing existing trusts & foundations  and large personal funders, producing grant and budget reports and proposals, and seeking out new funders. This is presently done by other staff.

Communications
● work with relevant staff to maximise Declassified’s profile, for example by ensuring the optimisation of our website, newsletters and  communications with supporters and non-supporters.
● work with relevant staff to produce our annual reports.
● field email queries from the public and external organisations.

Board and Advisers
● work with the Board to ensure Declassified’s governance structure best promotes its mission and principles.
● communicate clearly to the Board, delivering regular financial and strategy updates as per regular arranged meetings.
● maximise the contributions of Declassified’s Advisers to promote the organisation's mission.

Representation
● represent Declassified in external meetings and events, acting as an ambassador for the organisation’s mission and principles.
● promote Declassified to other like-minded organisations and individuals, developing contacts or partnerships such as with campaign groups, other journalists and MPs.

Candidates should have several years experience working in media, campaigns or not-for profit organisations or similar, in several of the following areas:

WORKING CONDITIONS
● All Declassified staff work from their home offices, with the opportunity of using a communal office in London subject to availability.
● We operate a four day working week, from Monday-Thursday.

The range of Counterpoints Arts’ work has grown considerably since it was founded in 2012 and we are now seeking someone to lead on Operations Management whilst our current Operations Manager is on maternity leave. This role is key to ensuring the smooth running of our charity’s operations, including overseeing day-to-day administrative, financial, and HR functions. The successful candidate will be highly organised, proactive, and have a strong background in charity operations or a similar role within the nonprofit sector. We are particularly interested in recruiting someone whose values align with the charity's mission and overall team culture.

Responsibilities:

Overall, the role involves ensuring smooth daily operations and charity compliance, managing office administration, supporting team productivity and wellbeing, and liaising with external stakeholders and suppliers.

Finance and Fundraising:

• Ensure financial compliance and oversee bookkeeping, invoicing, and grant payments.

• Support budgeting, financial reporting, and planning with the Director.

• Monitor charity management accounts, project income, and expenditure.

• Manage year-end accounts, filing with the Charity Commission, and Company House.

Office Management:

• Manage office logistics, filing, GDPR compliance, and health and safety.

• Ensure safeguarding protocols are in place, reporting issues to the landlord/Building Manager as needed

  additional insurance premiums / cover and any claims
