SolarAid is at a pivotal moment with a new strategy starting to show some game changing results. The strategy is aimed at reaching those who will benefit the most from solar energy yet are currently being left behind. Even though SolarAid are a charity we believe in business based solutions to poverty using solar technology, as this is more sustainable and spreads faster than handouts - so we run a social enterprise in Africa called SunnyMoney.

Our Fundraising programme is also at an exciting stage - with a diverse range of funding sources spread across corporates, trusts & foundations, institutions, high net worths and individuals. We aim to knit these sources together to reinforce each other, such as a funder providing a match for donations or individual advocating in their workplace. We've a small but passionate team who strive to work closely across the different funding areas.

About the role

SolarAid are looking for an individual with experience of fundraising who can proactively engage, build relationships and provide high levels of stewardship to a variety of supporters, alongside increasing awareness of our work.

You will play a vital role in driving all supporter activities, such as direct mail Supporter appeals, our regular giving programme and supporting community groups and individuals with their fundraising.

Your focus will be to support all activities across Individual Giving, assisting in identifying, developing and supporting fundraising opportunities to maximise activity and income, alongside helping to create and maintain meaningful supporter journeys that strengthen the relationship between supporters and SolarAid.

You will be hands-on with assisting the Supporter Engagement Manager in leading on all direct marketing campaigns, ensuring that the process is managed effectively from start to finish. You will also be responsible for carrying out presentations and talks when requested so that our supporters remain engaged.

Responsibilities:

• To support all activities across the Supporter Engagement area, assisting to identify, develop and support fundraising opportunities to maximise activity and income.

Supporter Engagement

• Support on developing and coordinating fundraising across multiple streams, including individual giving (regular giving and supporter appeals), community fundraising and legacies.
• Building and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Play a key role in achieving agreed income targets and helping to increase year-on-year.
• Play a key role in managing direct mailing campaigns when appropriate.
• Lead a number of innovative and impactful fundraising and supporter engagement projects on behalf of SolarAid.
• Focus on story-telling and equipping supporters, of all kinds, with the tools they need to spread the message to their networks.

Supporter Development

• When required, deliver talks to supporters, including schools and community groups.
• Provide outstanding stewardship of our supporters, developing a supporter journey that grows their connection to SolarAid, increasing engagement and giving.
• Through every interaction with supporters, aim to inspire and motivate people to support the work of SolarAid so that they can advocate on our behalf.
• Proactively identify and implement new ways of improving supporter engagement.
• Produce accurate and timely reports on activity and performance as required, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Work with all teams to coordinate and ensure consistent messaging and communications to encourage long-term relationships with our existing supporters.

Person Specification:

• An experienced media professional, with a track record of developing, leading and managing creative PR campaigns.

• A demonstrable record of strategically identifying target journalists and outlets and successfully placing coverage – both mainstream and niche – that reach priority audiences.

• Experience of developing media partnerships with online outlets, magazines newspapers, broadcast media and able to navigate these relationships to ensure the best possible outcomes for War Child.

• Experienced in developing and commissioning content.

• Experienced in developing press angles and hooks that achieve cut-through in a competitive media landscape.

• Already has or would welcome quickly developing an understanding of the sensitivities involved in media work when it comes to vulnerable children and young people, and how to balance objectives with safeguarding obligations.

We are seeking an experienced Trusts and Foundations Officer preferably from the North of England to join the fundraising team at the Batten Disease Family Association (BDFA). Home based with occasional travel to Yorkshire 

The BDFA is the only patient organisation in the UK for families affected by Batten disease, a rare and terminal neurodegenerative condition that affects children and young adults. The BDFA offers informed guidance and support to families and the professionals who work with them, as well as actively raising awareness, and promoting research into the management of Batten disease to improve patient care pathways and ultimately find a cure.

This is an exciting time to join the organisation, which has grown to offer additional support services for families affected by Batten disease and to implementing a long-term strategy to develop its advocacy, education and research capabilities. We’re looking for an individual who has the experience and skills to manage and nurture relationships with our existing funders from charitable trusts, foundations and other grant-making bodies, ensuring they feel inspired by our work and the patients and families we support.

The role will incorporate managing a sizeable portfolio of Trusts and Foundations through excellent stewardship, and to build on this strong foundation, developing and submitting winning funding proposals to create a high-quality pipeline of new funding opportunities. The successful candidate will work as part of the Fundraising team, under the guidance of our Chief Executive Officer to continue our strategy to diversify income through this key funding stream.

The Ideal Candidate for this role will have:

- Experience and a proven track record of successful Trusts and Foundations income generation.

- Demonstratable experience in researching potential Trust funders, submitting compelling proposals, securing funding and project managing successful bids through to completion of the grant award.

- A background in report writing and demonstrating grant impact whilst being able to build relationships with funders and individual/major donors.

- Experience of providing excellent supporter care and building mutually beneficial long-term relationships with funders.

- Experience of targeting large grant-making bodies and securing 5-6 figure grants

- Expert knowledge of fundraising landscape, particularly Trusts & Foundations.

This job requires a motivated individual who has a passion for all those within our Batten community and a strong desire to support the development and financial growth of the BDFA. The role is full time (35 hours per week) and is home based with occasional travel to Yorkshire (where the CEO is based) and around the UK to meet donors and support fundraising events.

Role Description

The Project Manager is an adept and organised professional, esteemed within the nuclear policy community for their level. Responsible for overseeing a discrete package of work, they must demonstrate a clear understanding and alignment with broader programme goals, strategies, and objectives. The role will report to the Programme Manager.

Taking charge of project deliverables, the Project Manager will navigate the entire project cycle, from generating fundraising ideas to developing them further and building knowledge of funding relationships. 

The Project Manager should possess a solid understanding of global security and conflict

resolution, coupled with a proven ability to design, and execute high-quality project management and research. The ideal candidate is an established researcher with a specialisation in nuclear weapons issues or whatever else is relevant to the project that they will be managing, and an emerging track record of policy relevant publications. 

The Project Manager will manage two BASIC projects concurrently:

1. The Peaceful Nuclear Technologies Portal (PEANUT, 2024-2025)

The PEANUT Portal will be a one-stop shop microsite featuring information about available civil nuclear science and technologies for the fulfilment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs or ‘Global Goals’). In this capacity, you will work with a subject matter expert (already appointed) to build the site and actively promote the site and peaceful nuclear technologies more generally amongst relevant States and multilateral conferences.

As Project Manager, you will oversee the successful completion of further funding for the PEANUT project for beyond March 2025.

2. ‘Scoping British Nuclear Weapons Harms’ (2024-2026). 

Scoping British Nuclear Harms is a two-year scoping inquiry into the humanitarian and environmental harms caused by the UK Government’s nuclear weapons programme since its genesis. The candidate will build on existing work by BASIC to develop a nuclear harm reduction framework, and develop national and international networks with others working on these issues to develop and promote this work.

The role requires a fundamental understanding of the UK’s nuclear weapons programme and history, and the Project Manager will have a professional background in nuclear science and/or technology. Ideally the Project Manager will also have experience with science communication. 

The Project Manager should possess the skills to expand their network in their area of specialisation, benefiting BASIC, and be capable of line managing other team members within their programme. 

This role necessitates a formal project or programme management qualification – BASIC will provide the Project Manager with such training and qualifications if they do not already possess one. The Project Manager will collaborate with their line manager to identify a professional development plan, closing skills gaps and aspiring to become an internationally respected leader in their field.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

1. Project Delivery

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Manage project timelines, budgets, and reporting requirements

• Line manage, mentor/coach, and provide pastoral care for the project team: policy fellows, project assistants and interns

• Weekly - invoice processing, payments, petty cash, bank deposits and reconciliation etc 

• Monthly - compiling monthly payroll, creating management accounts/financial reports, supporting Project Managers with financial analysis, and reporting to Director/Trustees

• Annual – preparing budgets, submitting financial returns, reporting at the Annual General Meeting, and working with the accountancy firm to complete the financial audit.

• Ad hoc –financial support for Farm Events, developing budgets and other enquiries.

​As a member of the Farm’s Operational Management team, you will support the organisation with financial insights and guidance to help us develop the charity, remain sustainable and achieve our mission.  

Hours of work: 21-28 hours per week largely undertaken between 9 - 5pm, Monday to Friday 
Place of work: This role is based at St Werburghs City Farm in Bristol, however, hybrid working can be discussed.

ProVeg International works to normalise and advance the protein transition and adoption of plant-rich diets through influencing the food industry, with the end goal of transforming the food selection in supermarkets and on menus to be more in line with healthy, sustainable diets.

Working closely with the Director of Partnerships and Institutional Engagement, you will build a strategy to encourage pre-competitive collaboration between food companies to drive forward progress on the protein transition. You will be responsible for cultivating relationships with UK food companies (particularly retailers and foodservice providers), positioning ProVeg as a trusted partner, strategy adviser and solutions provider on healthy, sustainable diets and protein diversification. You will also own and maintain our International Corporate Engagement toolkit, and provide corporate engagement support to the ProVeg network as needed (e.g., planning and running events and webinars).

With a thorough understanding of how food businesses operate, and a demonstrable background in effecting change within the food industry, you’ll be an experienced relationship builder, a driven and enthusiastic self-starter, and an excellent project manager.

Responsibilities

• Lead international corporate engagement, with a particular focus on retail and foodservice providers.
• Work closely with the Director of Partnerships and Institutional Engagement, develop a creative 3-year international corporate engagement strategy and draft annual and quarterly objectives and key results.
• Plan and run corporate engagements events (e.g., roundtables, webinars) in collaboration with internal departments and external partners.
• Develop and maintain relationships with UK food companies.
• Identify where ProVeg can add value to existing coalitions and programmes focused on the protein transition.
• Represent ProVeg International at B2B events focused on healthy, sustainable diets, food systems transformation, and protein transition.
• Manage communications with corporate partners and stakeholders, working closely with the B2B comms lead.
• Contribute to bids for funding (corporate, institutional) led by the International and UK Development teams.
• Work closely with the research team, contribute to insight generation (surveys, reports, etc.) for corporate engagement activities.
• Work with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning and Research team to develop tools and assessments to monitor the UK and international protein transition progress against objectives.
• Keep an eye on relevant food policy and regulations, together with the UK and EU Policy Managers, and incorporate advice and actions into the Corporate Engagement strategy.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working in or with the food industry.
• A track record of working to bring about change within food businesses.
• Experience organising and facilitating engaging and impactful online and in-person events for food companies.
• Excellent project management and organisational skills with the ability to lead and work collaboratively.
• Significant experience in developing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

The purpose of the role is to plan and deliver strategically the fundraising required for the ongoing success of NCO, enabling this important national music organisation to develop and deliver its mission.

Main Responsibilities 

Strategy and Planning

Working with the Chief Executive and Development and Communications Committee to set and lead on the development of NCO’s development strategy, setting fundraising targets in line with strategic objectives.

Oversee all fundraising activity and report to the Chief Executive, NCO Board and Finance Committee on progress towards income targets.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, represent the Development function to ensure full account is taken of development potential whilst contributing towards the leadership and strategic direction of NCO.

Individual Giving

Lead on re-establishing NCO’s Individual Giving programme, drawing on the potential pipeline of current stakeholders (eg parents and alumni) and delegating to/working with the Development Team in its successful delivery.

Lead on new mid/major donor giving and relationships including legacies, personally managing a portfolio of prospects and donors.

Support the Development team to lead in the delivery of NCO’s annual giving programmes, ie Friends and Patrons.

Lead on individual campaigns, working collaboratively with the Development team to maximise opportunities to engage with new supporters through events and matched funding initiatives (eg The Big Give).

Work with the Chief Executive and other senior staff to ensure the continued engagement and support of the NCO Board.

Trusts and Foundations

Lead on fundraising from Trusts & Foundations and other grant giving bodies (excluding statutory funding).

Research and cultivate existing and new funders, working with the Chief Executive, Board and the Development Team to initiate new partnerships and maintaining systems to ensure that those partnerships are successfully managed and sustained.

Prepare compelling major grant applications to secure new funding with sound attention to detail, and work with colleagues by leading and advising on other vital grant applications undertaken by members of the Development team, sharing best practice in fundraising to develop the organisation’s skills.

As part of the Development team, provide appropriate and timely monitoring information to trusts and foundations, as required by their conditions of support including, where appropriate, organising events and visits.

Corporate Fundraising

Lead the Development team on stewarding existing and cultivating new corporate sponsors and ensuring benefits and recognition are delivered across NCO’s marketing channels.

Statutory Funding

Support the Chief Executive and wider team to ensure that NCO fulfils its quarterly and annual reporting requirements to Arts Council England and the Department for Education and in the creation of new funding applications including as part of the next ACE Investment Review.

(NB: The day to day management and reporting requirements of NCO’s NPO and DfE grants will be managed by a newly appointed Business Administrator and overseen by the Chief Executive).

Organisation and Management

Line manage NCO’s Development Manager through individual objective setting and performance management, regular 1:1 meetings and identification of training needs.

Empower the Development team by ensuring they have regular opportunities to develop their skills and experience across different areas of fundraising and through training whilst supporting them wholeheartedly in their professional development.

Inspire and lead the Development team, and set an example, on the application, implementation and adherence to all NCO policies and procedures.

Support the Development team to lead on the development of NCO’s CRM System (Beacon) in specific relation to its fundraising functions, in line with the Data Protection Act.

Maximise the potential of Gift Aid from all donations, supporting the Development team to ensure all donations and payments received are appropriately logged, accompanied by appropriate paperwork and in line with annual audit requirements and submitted in a timely manner.

Produce Development reports for quarterly Board and Finance Committee meetings, attending online and in person as required.

Undertake research and maintain a high level of knowledge about trusts, foundations, individuals, and statutory funding to inform planning.

Represent NCO at conferences undertaking public and media presentations, attending conferences and events and lobbying forums as appropriate

Salary: £40,000
