Supporting the Philanthropy Manager, you’ll focus on cultivating and stewarding relationships with major donors. This will include developing and maintaining relationships with, and securing funds from, existing and new donors to support St John key strategic priorities, such as our inspiring programmes with young people and our community first aid response work. You will be able to work remotely however there may be an ad-hoc requirement to attend donor meetings.

About You:

With your proven experience of philanthropy fundraising, you’ll have personally secured 5 figure + gifts from a major donor. With your ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with donors, you’ll be able to adapt your communication style to articulate complex issues in a succinct and compelling way. 

You’ll have project management skills to enable you to devise donor engagement plans and work with senior volunteers and trustees to develop funding proposals and identify opportunities.

About The Role

• Actively work to secure income to meet agreed personal and team fundraising targets in line with the organisation’s operational priorities to meet the needs of the communities and individuals we serve.
• Identify potential prospects, working alongside the Prospect Researcher, Senior Management colleagues and Trustees to continue to identify new prospects to grow the pipeline.
• Build, manage and maintain a portfolio of donors from £5,000 gifts upwards, stewarding relationships to ensure donor satisfaction and long-term financial commitment, including detailed and timely reporting as well as engagement with senior stakeholders within St John.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues in fundraising to identify major donor prospects and opportunities to maximise donor experience – such as work with Supporter Engagement and the Community Fundraising team.

Exciting plans have already been put in place and are being implemented by our current Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships. This includes a new major gift, pipeline, new trust and foundation pipeline, corporate partnerships, a music industry initiatives upcoming and more. We are looking for a talented and engaging individual to drive these plans and relationships over the finish line.

We need someone who understands how a charitable organisation with different income streams works, particularly high value, has a passion for global women’s rights and most importantly can deliver the right combination of high-level strategic insight, whilst being hands-on and propositional to drive results. 

The Circle raised over £500,000 in 23/24 with ambitions to grow this to £700,000 in 2024/25 and £1m over the medium term. Existing funders include a mix of trusts and foundations, HNWIs and corporate partners (including L’Oréal Foundation and Universal Music). This role will help to reach these targets through implementing the fundraising strategy and plans currently in place. 

About the role: 

The Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships will deliver on income and our fundraising strategy, while playing a key role in the senior leadership team (SLT). 

Your focus will be driving income and donor engagement via major donors, corporates and special events and initiatives.

Key responsibilities include: 

• Act as a key member of SLT, reporting to the CEO and working closely with associated peers to deliver and achieve the organisational strategy 

• Lead The Circle’s major gift fundraising, with a focus on HNWI, philanthropy advisors, corporate partnerships and trusts & foundations 

• Build a sustainable pipeline of income 

• Drive new business activity – identifying opportunities for partnership/support from a variety of high value sources 

• Develop new cases for support, building on existing propositions such as A Living Wage for Garment Workers and Ending Violence Against Women and Girls report. 

• Identify opportunities for special events/initiatives which could also act as cultivation events for new supporters or one-off large scale fundraisers with high ROI. 

About you: 

• An experienced and results driven fundraiser with a major donor and corporate fundraising background

• Demonstrable expertise in securing five-figure donations from HNWIs/corporate partners/T&F (six-figure experience desirable) and understanding of appeals and events. 

• A strategic, creative doer who strikes the balance between leadership, tactics and being hands-on as required 

• Self-motivated with demonstrable ability to take the initiative and drive activity – The Circle is a small organisation, and the team work remotely 

• Knowledge of partnership agreements and due diligence processes 

• A background in international development and/or women’s rights is desirable

About the Role

As the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to secure major donations from individuals in the first instance. You will also manage the Senior Trusts & Foundations Manager. You will work closely with the Head of Individual Giving to ensure income targets are met or exceeded, contributing to the sustainability and growth of Mothers’ Union.

In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of driving impactful philanthropy and partnerships for Mothers’ Union. You will develop and execute a dynamic strategy to secure major donations, ensuring the annual income targets are met. You will nurture key relationships with existing donors, ambassadors, celebrities, and potential new supporters, leveraging these connections. You will build and manage a robust pipeline of supporters, ensuring continuous growth and rejuvenation.

About you

You are a seasoned fundraising professional with a proven track record of securing substantial donations from high-net-worth individuals. Your strategic mindset and innovative approach enable you to develop and execute successful fundraising initiatives that drive results. With your exceptional communication skills and keen attention to detail, you cultivate strong relationships and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. Work Location/Hybrid Working Pattern

This role will be based at our Head Office in central London. Mothers’ Union operates a hybrid working model. Staff are required to work an aggregate minimum of 90 days per calendar year (pro rata for part timers) at our Head Office, Mary Sumner House in central London. Tuesdays are our anchor days where every staff member is expected to be at the office. The 90 days includes anchor Tuesdays. In addition, Thursday is a core working day where part time staff are expected to work, either at home or from the office as needed.

About the role

This is a new role that has been created to sit within our London office, working closely with the senior management team as well as our community team. You will get the opportunity to visit our prisons and see first hand how we work, what we do and why it is so important.

Our funding comes from several sources including from Trusts and Foundations, and prison contracts and donations. We are looking for somebody who can continue to build strong relationships with our funders but also find and develop new funding opportunities to help grow and maximise our income.

We will offer extensive training and will fully immerse the right candidate into every aspect of our charity. This role will also strongly link in with the planning and delivery of our strategy and policies.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the top ranked and top performing healthcare Trusts in the UK, providing care to a community of over one million people across two hospital sites and twelve community clinics. Over the last six years CW+ has grown its fundraising programme extensively and is now seeking a Philanthropy Manager to join their team at a crucial stage in their Thirty at Thirty major appeal – its ambitious programme to raise £30m to celebrate the Trust’s 30th birthday. This will be the largest fundraising drive in the charity’s history and a successful, effective team will be central to its success.

The role will be responsible for cultivating and securing gifts from existing and new high-value donors, with a focus on securing five and six figure donations.  The post-holder will initiate, foster and develop rich, long-term relationships with donors capable of giving transformational support to CW+ and develop and grow the current major giving pipeline and portfolio of major gifts from high net worth individuals.

As the portfolio is mixed in its development, it is important that this post holder can work with tenacity and resilience in an ever evolving landscape of relationships and opportunities, in close collaboration with the Chief Executive and the Director of Fundraising. The position of Event Manager is a central role within the Foundation, not only driving the Foundation forward in both fundraising and keeping the cogs turning in all aspects from administrative detail to event organisation. 

This role is unique, from the breadth of responsibilities to the ownership it allows for an individual. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Leading development, delivery and execution of the LGF events programme, consisting of already established major donor events and a focus on improving the range of events for a wide general audience that maximises fundraising and drives supporter engagement.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with event co-founders, committee members, stakeholders and high net worth individuals to maximise income and secure continued committed support.

• To closely work with the relevant events production agency to ensure the smooth running of events e.g. ensuring dietaries are collected, managing event budget inline with sponsorship.

• Responsible for all major donor relationship management.

• Responsible for day-to-day internal fundraising tasks, ensuring gift aid claims are up to date etc…

• Aiding co-founders and committee members with event sponsorship bids and presentations.

• Main LGF contact for event sponsors, includes ensuring contractual agreements are met, generally keeping them informed and happy with the partnership.

• PR- oversee the activities of our pro bono PR team from an events perspective.

• Lead, coach and work closely with the Events and Fundraising Executive to enable them to take on responsibilities for smaller events and manage tasks within the events. 

• General Event Management - Overseeing the organisation of the event, managing invites and RSVP’s, ticket payments where necessary, event sponsors

• Awareness of key health issues and updates in the gynae arena 

• Awareness of activity from other charities within the sector

Experience, Qualifications and Skills:

• At least 2 years of events management experience with a charity or fundraising organisation.

We are looking for an experienced treasurer to support the Board, CEO and Finance Director in the successful delivery of the charity’s financial responsibilities. This includes provision of advice, guidance, challenge and reassurance on all aspects of the charity’s financial activities, ensuring that our strategic plans are underpinned by robust and fit for purpose financial management. You should have a strong interest in the mission of Animal Free Research UK and be willing to advocate on the charity’s behalf.

Previous experience of being a Trustee is not necessary as a full induction and ongoing support will be provided.

An appropriate time commitment will be required over the course of the year for preparative work between meetings. Following a probationary period where Trustee-elects attend at least 2 board meetings, appointed Trustees serve a three-year term, with the option to renew for a further three years. Trusteeship is an unremunerated position, though reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be paid.
