Job Title: Fundraising Officer (Trusts)

Salary: £16,800 (£28,000 FTE)

Contract: Permanent, 3 days per week (or 22.5hrs per week on another agreed working pattern)

Power2 is a fast growing and energetic children and young people’s charity that has supported 27,000 young people since 2001. We are based in the North West of England and London and deliver early-intervention asset-based programmes to children and young people who have mental wellbeing challenges and are disengaged from school and more widely. We are well-known for our accredited Teens and Toddlers programme and its variations focusing on mental health, school transitions and physical activity, and are supporting young people via Power2 Rediscover, an intensive 1:1 wellbeing programme.

We have an opportunity to join our Fundraising Team as Fundraising Officer, raising the funds that enable young people to benefit from our life-changing programmes. 

The majority of the successful candidate’s time will be spent in growing an already established Trusts and Foundations income stream; you will be responsible for writing applications to and managing relationships with small and medium grant-makers (giving up to c.£10k). You will have the autonomy to manage your own portfolio of new and existing funders, with support from the Head of Fundraising, and will support the wider fundraising team with research needs.

This is an exciting time to join the Power2 fundraising team, as we aim to grow and diversify our income sources. The successful candidate will therefore have the opportunity to be involved in the growth and development of new areas of fundraising and to be involved in activities reflecting their own interests and career aspirations.

Direct experience is not essential for this role – more important is that you possess transferable skills and can demonstrate experience in distilling complex information from a range of sources and communicating it in a persuasive, engaging way to different audiences. The successful candidate will therefore have excellent communication skills, be highly numerate and a great team player and collaborator.

We operate hybrid working, and this role can be based at either our London or North-West (Ashton-under-Lyne) office, with at least one day working in the office per week. We offer flexibility as to when the role’s hours are worked, and exact working patterns can be discussed at interview.

Role description: 

We are seeking a highly motivated self-driven, and energetic individual to join our Fundraising Team as the Corporate Fundraising Officer. You will lead on fostering excellent working relationships with potential and existing corporate partners. You will need to work closely with the Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager to shape the plans required for the future.

The post holder will require a good knowledge of fundraising and considerable energy and enthusiasm that will inspire excellent relationships by increasing charity of the year partnerships and employee fundraising/giving. You will be target driven, proactive, a determined self-starter and thrive on working with a range of partners, encouraging them to choose Southampton Hospitals Charity as their preferred charity. 

Main Responsibilities: 

• Proactively source, research and approach new corporates in order to achieve annual income targets with a focus on charity of the year partnerships, payroll giving, employee fundraising/giving, peer to peer initiatives and marketing opportunities. 

• Develop, implement, and sustain a dynamic corporate fundraising portfolio, maintaining a well-organised pipeline of funding opportunities.  

• Devise and implement a long-term corporate fundraising strategy to cultivate and secure significant donations from new and existing supporters. 

• Curate an excellent cultivation and stewardship journey in order to build and strengthen relationships and maximise income to meet agreed income targets.

• Attend and contribute to networking events, whilst actively organising events to foster relationships with new and existing corporate donors.  

• Identify, pursue and make applications to corporate funding opportunities by aligning proposals with companies' ESG policies, emphasising shared values and potential partnerships.  

• Develop creative fundraising campaigns and commercial sponsorship opportunities working with the events team to support with event costs.

• Work with the wider charity team to identify networks of prospective corporate partners and plan relationship building as most appropriate. 

• Maintain precise and well-managed donor information in the organisation’s database to facilitate efficient tracking and follow-up, and ensure records are kept up to date in a timely, accurate and consistent manner. 

• Coordinate and organise corporate volunteering activities for our corporate partners. 

• Organise events for, and with corporate partners to enhance engagement and visibility.  

• Support the fundraising team with social media content ideas that highlight our activities and showcase the impact of corporate engagement. 

Other: 

• To keep updated with guidance and best practice from the Fundraising Regulator and Chartered Institute of Fundraising. 

• Work closely with hospital consultants and other individuals leading on approved projects to ensure a full understanding of the project that can be relayed back to both existing and potential corporate partners.

​Person Specification: 

Knowledge and experience -

• Excellent IT skills including using Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint as well as experience of administering and maintaining dedicated supporter CMS databases. 

• Knowledge of a fundraising database and knowledge of fundraising regulations e.g. GDPR (Beacon used). 

• Experience of collaborating with companies to encourage employee fundraising for charities. 

• Ability to effectively work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities. 

• Experience of working in corporate fundraising with a proven track record of at least 2 years’ experience. 

Skills, abilities, and behaviours -

• Demonstrated ability to secure funds from new corporate partners, with experience in winning awards exceeding £10,000.  

• Confident and skilled in delivering presentations to a diverse range of supporters, whether in groups, individually, in person, or remotely.  

• Proven experience in crafting persuasive cases for support and donor updates that motivate giving.  

• Excellent understanding of CSR, social value and employee engagement. 

• Expertise in building and maintaining strong donor relationships to ensure sustained support.  

• Strong writing skills for creating compelling cases for support and effectively presenting the organisation’s work to potential donors.  

• Ability to develop, analyse, and interpret budgets and financial information.  

• Proficient in using databases for fundraising performance analysis.  

• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to motivate and influence people.

Background

We're hiring a new Fundraising Officer to work within the Fundraising team. You will be the first point of call for all enquiries and donations from our Friends and supporters. You'll work to establish and maintain effective engagement with them, ensuring that they feel valued and appreciated. Working with the Fundraising Manager, you will process and bank payments and thank all donors.

You will also assist with our events programme, legacy administration and fundraising communications, including some graphic design.

About the Role

We are now recruiting for a Fundraising and Grant Management Specialist to support the Senior Leadership Team in developing and implementing Hibiscus’ Fundraising & Partnerships Strategy.

The successful candidate will be motivated and passionate about the rights of migrant women affected by the criminal justice and immigration systems, and will workThis post holder will identify and plan funding approaches in support of the organisation’s aims and objectives. They will manage current funding relationships whilst developing strong relationships with new funders who can support the charity’s work long-term. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a rolling programme of applications, planning compelling and targeted proposals in support of Hibiscus’ work and develop a fundraising database to track applications. This will involve exploring opportunities for Hibiscus to diversify its funding, working with SLT and the board to identify and cultivate strategically appropriate contacts. The post holder will also be responsible for ensuring stakeholder engagement by producing reports and updates for doners and trusts, facilitating the trauma-informed participation of Hibiscus’ service users in fundraising and establishing good working relationships with colleagues. They will play an active role in communicating relevant information to colleagues, and will work with colleagues to develop impactful, meaningful and data driven proposals.

The successful candidate be responsible for maintaining Hibiscus’ fundraising and development libraries, resources, and directories, including accurate records to monitor feedback. They will support the management of a case studies library, and work as part of the wider team, encouraging dialogue, promoting understanding and championing the work of Hibiscus.

About You

We are particularly keen to attract talent from Black and minoritised communities and those with lived experience of immigration, the criminal justice systems, and/or gender-based violence.

The successful candidate will be motivated and passionate about the rights of migrant women affected by the criminal justice and immigration systems, with successful fundraising experience and excellent writing, research, and stakeholder engagement skills. They will have a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, and/or experience in developing and implementing fundraising strategies to a high standard.

The candidate will have strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, be able to set personal priorities, objectives and deadlines while maintaining a focus on key organisational and strategic priorities. They will work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate significant emotional resilience and intelligence. They will be familiar with and confident navigating data protection in relation to fundraising, always ensuring their work is grounded in the ethos, aims and objectives of Hibiscus Initiatives and human rights in general.The successful candidate will be able to acquire new skills and demonstrate a strong commitment to learning. Political awareness and knowledge of political developments in immigration law and policy is desirable. They will demonstrate a commitment to Hibiscus' ethos aims and objectives, including having an intersectional and anti-racist approach to the work and a comprehensive understanding of one of more of Hibiscus’ key work areas.

Fundraising Manager – Grants and Trusts

We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to manage, deliver, and develop a successful grant funding pipeline and applications. The purpose of the role is achieve financial targets aligned with the charity’s strategic plan.

The Ryan Neuro Therapy Centre supports people with neurological conditions by delivering physiotherapy and other therapies to benefit their health and welfare in a caring, friendly, and supportive environment. We are a small self-funded charity in Coulsdon, reliant entirely on fundraising and donations to provide the income needed each year to run the Centre. The organisation took on charitable status in 1995 supporting people living with Multiple Sclerosis. In 2023, we expanded our provision to support other neurological conditions. The Charity has 18 members of staff (all part-time), 15 volunteers and over 100 members with neurological conditions.

The Fundraising Manager is a key member of our small dedicated team, the role generates more than a third of our income needs and is key to the success of the charity.

The Fundraising & Marketing Manager will take the lead in developing and implementing our fundraising and marketing strategies, splitting your time about 60/40 between the two functions. As Fundraising & Marketing Manager you will be responsible for securing funding from a wide range of sources, stewarding relationships with our supporters, and managing communication with external stakeholders.

Income from legacies forms an important income stream for the charity, and the Fundraising Manager will be responsible for all aspects of our legacy marketing, to include advertising, promoting legacy giving and the cultivation of legacy pledgers. 

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues to help deliver the charity’s fundraising and engagement plans. You will oversee the development and marketing of our corporate income stream, the Specialist Skills Directory, and foster relationships with corporate supporters when required. ABOUT THE ROLE

Smart Works Bristol exists to empower all women who need heflp getting into work. We aim to support 1000 clients with our Interview and Preparation service per year. As such, we require vital funding from Grants, Trusts & Foundations to enable us to achieve our mission, and continued support to deliver our calendar of Corporate Events. 

As our charity grows, we are seeking a Fundraising Manager to join our small and ambitious staff team. The successful post holder will be researching and building a strong pipeline of grant funders and five and six-figure gifts from Trusts & Foundations, including core funding and restricted funding.

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside our Board of Trustees to maximise local funding opportunities, expand our portfolio of grant funders, and contribute to a growth in income for the charity. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and identifying prospective funders, writing and submitting high-quality applications and proposals, and delivering excellent grant management and stewardship updates. They will also work closely with the Trustees to deliver an exciting calendar of corporate and community fundraising fashion events, and lead our corporate sports challenge.

We are seeking a proactive self-starter, with experience in philanthropic fundraising, excellent written communication skills and demonstrable attention to detail. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reporting to the Head of Smart Works Bristol, the successful candidate will lead on a range of activities, including:
• Building excellent relationships with corporate and community partners, generating awareness and income of c. £165k for the centre across grants, events and corporate fundraising.
• Delivering financial activities to target, maintaining an up-to-date database with relevant income tracking and pipeline data to facilitate regular KPI and financial reporting to the Board of Trustees.
• Lead our annual signature corporate challenge to target income c. £50k, known as Step Up for Smart Works – managing the project locally from planning to delivery, including identifying and onboarding participant teams and their stewardship.
• Securing one-year and multi-year grants from a range of Trusts and Foundations, including traditional grant funders, local charities, family foundations and corporate foundations to meet income targets c. 50k.
• Researching and identifying prospective grant funders who could support Smart Works Bristol. 
• Writing high-quality grant applications, working collaboratively with the Chair of the Board and staff team to deliver creative and compelling proposals for both core and restricted funding. 
• Maintaining strong relationships with current and prospective funders, including the preparation of impact reports and sharing regular updates on grant management. 
• Maintain an accurate data record of pledged, banked and prospective income for the Bristol centre, working in collaboration with Smart Works Charity to maintain local management accounts. 
• Representing Smart Works Bristol to a diverse range of stakeholders and audiences to generate income and raise brand awareness within the local community. 
• Support the Trustees with stewardship of fashion and retail partners, including venue and catering supporters, as well as our corporate partners supporting the charity. 
• Support the delivery of our signature fundraising events, including high-end supporter events and fashion sales, where the Trustees manage the project from concept to execution and ensure income targets are met. 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

Essential Criteria:

• Extensive experience generating income of at least five figures from philanthropic income. 
• Demonstrable experience securing corporate partnerships of five figures. 
• Experience working with grant applications and/or funding proposals, and utilising a range of tools to identify new funding opportunities.
• Excellent written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to prepare high-quality funding proposals and reports, adapting the communication style for different audiences and stakeholders to maximise impact.
• Target driven with excellent organisation and time management capabilities, demonstrating an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
• Creative and proactive approach to problem-solving, with an entrepreneurial attitude towards fundraising strategy.
• Passionate and enthusiastic about the mission and vision of Smart Works, demonstrated through clear initial research and understanding in the written application.

Desirable Criteria:

• Proven track record in securing six figure philanthropic income. 
• Experience in cultivating strong and positive relationships, both internally and externally, with multiple and senior stakeholders.
• Experience of organising fundraising events. 
• Interpersonal, verbal communication and presentation skills, in order to build strong working relationships with external stakeholders.
• An understanding of the Trusts & Foundations and high-value fundraising landscape, such as the current challenges, opportunities and trends.
• Knowledge of the local fundraising landscape in Bristol and the South West.

The Fundraising Manager is responsible for delivering our fundraising strategy and increasing our income from various income streams.

This is an exciting opportunity to be the driving force behind our community fundraising and to build on our fantastic service to ensure we create a sustainable and effective organisation for years to come.

Reporting to the CEO, the role would suit somebody with excellent communications skills. Experience in fundraising, sales and marketing or a similar field is beneficial but not a necessity. The key skill is explaining the importance of our work to funders and donors in an effective way.

The Fundraising Manager will work with colleagues across the service to develop and deliver our fundraising strategy. There may be line management of communications team staff and volunteers as part of the role. It is essential for the role holder to develop and build relationships with key partners externally and to work closely with the management team and our Development Committee.

The role will focus on achieving our fundraising targets, expanding current income streams, and developing engagement and opportunities to support growth. That will include bid-writing, grant applications, community fundraising, and events.

About James’ Place 

James’ Place Charity was set up by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley in 2008 after their twenty-one-year-old son, James, died by suicide ten days after a minor operation. James had no history of mental illness or depression and had sought urgent help for anxiety and suicidal thoughts, but didn’t find it.   

James' Place was set up to make the experience of finding help as easy as possible. James’ Place offers men who are experiencing a suicidal crisis a brief, intensive, therapeutic intervention in a safe environment. Men who walk through the door at James’ Place will be in a space where they feel valued and respected. 

The first James’ Place opened in June 2018 in Liverpool, the first of its kind in the UK, and has to date supported more than 2,300 men experiencing suicidal crisis through our innovative and safe therapeutic intervention. We provide a calm and peaceful environment both inside the centre and in our landscaped garden, accessible to men who visit us as well as their friends and families.

In 2022 we opened a new centre in London and in early in 2023 we launched an appeal to raise over £10m to fund three more centres across the country. Our third centre opened in Newcastle at the beginning of 2024, and we are currently raising funds to open a James’ Place in Brimingham. 

The Fundraising and Communications team 

We are a small team with big ambitions. The team comprises a Head of Fundraising and Communications, two Fundraising Managers, a Senior Communications Manager and a Senior Outreach Officer. We are recruiting two roles to the team: a Fundraising Executive and a Fundraising and Communications Assistant.

Fundraising Executive

We are looking to recruit a Fundraising Executive to support our fundraising and communications activities and be part of our small and dedicated team. This role is a new post in the team, so it is a great time to join the charity as we invest in our fundraising and communications team to maximise our income and realise our ambitions. 

About You

Having previously worked in the charity sector, you will be passionate about our cause and committed to supporting us in raising the money required to meet our ambitions.

With an eye for detail, strong analytical and organisational skills, you will be able to undertake research on prospective corporate, major, trust and public donors and produce high quality written reports to support funding bids.

Using your ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively, you will support fundraisers by providing them with timely and accurate information and manage a portfolio of smaller trusts and foundations, which will also include stewardship.

Fundraising and Communications Assistant

In this varied and interesting role, you will:

· Manage the receipt, recording and acknowledgement of donations received by the London centre and national fundraising activities, working with other centre staff on the development of administration procedures.

· Ensure the CRM database is kept up to date and support the fundraising team to produce high quality reports.

· Support the Events Manger in the delivery of fundraising and engagement events across the organisation.

· Support the Fundraising Managers in arranging meetings and visits with donors and prospective donors.

· Use digital media strategy tools to generate relevant and varied digital content across chosen channels.

· Create regular communications, reports and updates for fundraisers to tailor for their individual donors.

About you:

You will be a self-starter with a desire to make an impact and a connection to James’ Place, you will bring your passion, previous administrative experience and a proactive approach, to enable our fundraising team to be as efficient as possible.  Using your knowledge and understanding of a range of social media platforms and your keen interest in learning about new digital innovations, you will support us in creating digital content across our chosen channels. You will work with our CRM software, Salesforce, to ensure our records are up to date, accurate and provide useful reports.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Fundraising Manager to lead, develop and implement our fundraising strategy. This is an exciting time to join Brigstowe as we aim to build on the fundraising growth and development from recent years and move our income generation to the next level. 

Your role 

Your key purpose will be to grow our income from a range of sources, with a key focus on trusts and foundations. This is a senior role within Brigstowe and you will be leading fundraising, able to quickly gather the information you need to make successful applications and work with service leads as required to exceed funder expectations.

You will be responsible for managing relationships with funders and donors, delivering excellent supporter stewardship and building on successful corporate and community fundraising.
