We are a well-established charity that has recently launched a new strategy to accelerate the progress and funding of neurological research. This is a new role. As a small and ambitious charity, we are seeking someone who is keen to join a growing team and develop their skills and career within a vibrant, positive organisation.
The role
Reporting to the Events and Community Fundraising Manager, you will play a crucial role as part of the Fundraising Team by providing the highest levels of fundraising and event administration support to ensure the provision of seamless, excellent supporter care and assistance to our supporters.
Whilst this role is primarily providing administrative support for our fundraising and event activities, there will be opportunities to be involved with all other aspects of the charity.
The successful candidate will need to be a good team player, able to work independently, flexible, hardworking and prepared to play an enthusiastic role in helping to deliver excellent supporter care and increased fundraising income. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Responsibilities
In this position, you will:
· Be the primary contact point with our supporters and fundraisers to provide excellent customer care
· Answer general public and supporter enquiries that come in by telephone, email and mail in a way that makes them feel important and valued regardless of the nature of their enquiry
· Ensure all fundraising income (cash, cheques online platform donations) is processed and recorded correctly onto the Donorfy database, and thanked in a timely manner
· Record as necessary enquiries, correspondence and responses on Donorfy
· Be the primary point of contact for our challenge events and community fundraisers. Build excellent relationships with them and provide materials and support, liaising before, during and following their activity/event as needed
· To work with the team to provide support for key fundraising activities such as the London Marathon and other challenge events. This will include assisting with event administration, answering telephone calls, responding to emails, thanking participants, processing donations, sending materials to participants and updating records on Donorfy
· Monitor our general email inboxes and respond to all enquiries in a timely manner
· Monitor Social Media and assist with providing content and responding to any enquires that come through these mediums
· Be responsible for ensuring stock control is monitored, both at the office and at our fulfilment house
· Appeal support: this may include contributing to content and will include monitoring schedules and deadlines
· Liaise with our fulfilment house and/or other suppliers, where necessary
· Liaise with finance as required
Person specification
You will be keen to develop your existing skills and to learn and absorb new skills. You will be methodical and well organised and provide careful attention to detail
It is essential that you have the following skills:
· Supporter care – must be able to provide our supporters and the general public with excellent customer service both written and over the phone
· Time management – you must be able to effectively manage your time and workload
· Attention to detail - you must be able to consistently produce accurate work
· IT literacy – you must be proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and, ideally, PowerPoint
· Familiarity with the use of social media
It is desirable that you have the following skills:
· Familiarity with CRM and/or database

· Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices

The Role
The Fundraising Officer – Partnerships is an important new role within the Fundraising Team, acting as the face of the Charity and first point of contact for potential corporate supporters and other donors.
Leading on delivering Wonderseekers’ Curiosity Collective corporate fundraising campaign, this is your chance to develop your corporate fundraising skills to deliver a small, personal annual income target. Working as part of a small, growing Team of experienced fundraisers, the Fundraising Officer - Partnerships will play a key supporting role to the Team, providing exceptional stewardship to donors. The Community Fundraising Assistant is fundamental administrative role that supports the Community Fundraising Team in the successful engagement of new and existing supporters. The role consists of a variety of key tasks including; arranging KSS attendance at community events, overseeing the placement and emptying of collection boxes and assisting the Community Fundraisers with the booking of talks to community organisations, groups and schools across our region. About the role
As a Contact Centre Advisor, you will be the first point of contact for our customers, supporters, and fundraisers. Your mission will be to provide an exceptional customer experience by keeping interactions Epic, Emotional, and Easy. Your daily tasks will include:
- Responding to and resolve inbound queries via telephone, email,social media and live chat.
- Providing information, taking donations, and resolving customer complaints or queries.
- Using our ticketing and CRM systems to update customer records with preferences and reasons for contact.
In this dynamic and customer focused role, you'll harness your active listening, empathy, and problem-solving skills to guarantee a seamless and positive customer experience.
About you:
We are looking for candidates with the ability to remain calm and patient in fast paced environment, providing consistent and engaging support, as well as the following key skills:
- Contact Centre Experience: Preferably you will have a proven track record in a contact centre or call handling environment, demonstrating your ability to handle inbound queries effectively.
- Passion for Customer Service Excellence: A genuine enthusiasm for delivering exceptional customer service, with a commitment to making every interaction a positive and memorable one.
- Excellent Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey information clearly and professionally to customers and colleagues. Previous experience communicating with customer via socail media would be advantage.
- Digital Proficiency: Excellent IT skills and able to navigate multiple systems, allowing for seamless navigation and efficient customer support.
- Multitasking: You have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritise effectively, and manage your own time efficiently.
- Adaptability: You can remaining calm under pressure, adapt to change, able to solve problems, and maintain a positive attitude.
With these essential skills, you'll be well-equipped to excel as a Contact Centre Advisor at the British Heart Foundation. We are looking start someone in the role on the 4th December 2024.
Working arrangements
This is 6 month fixed term contract
This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our Birmingham office (B37 7YE), 9:00am-5:00pm Monday to Friday, totalling 35 hours per week.
At the BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day each week, on average. At the moment the team typically go in once a week on Wednesday. The use of our office spaces is driven in part by your role and the activities you need to do. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.

Interview Process:
Our interview process involves two stages. We will conduct the initial stage via telephone interviews, followed by an assessment centre on 30th October 2024 , which will take place through in person at our Birmingham Office (B37 7YE)
