Funding Development Officer Jobs

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraising professional to join International Alert’s Global Fundraising Team.

As part of the team, you will help us access the right funding to deliver impactful peacebuilding programmes around the world. You’ll work with our programme teams on strategy and planning, building donor relationships and creating compelling proposals. Alongside this, you’ll join a team helping to build the systems and tools to create a strong global platform for fundraising across the organisation.

We are looking for an excellent candidate with fluency in both French and English (written and spoken), with a proven ability to: secure grants from institutional funders for peacebuilding, development and/ or humanitarian programmes; proactively build donor relationships and identify funding opportunities; provide support to country and global teams to develop successful proposals; develop programme budgets with full cost recovery; build and manage global commercial tender and framework opportunities; and contribute to internal communications, fundraising systems and pipeline management.

In return, you will have the opportunity to support our teams in working with those affected by conflict around the world, designing and funding programmes that address the root causes of conflict and build the conditions for peaceful societies. Role duties and responsibilities:

Identifying funding opportunities

• Proactively seek information on potential donor opportunities, and help colleagues adapt their programming ideas to suit particular donor interests. Undertake targeted horizon scanning and networking to identify upcoming global funding opportunities.
• In coordination with Global Fundraising team colleagues, proactively build relationships with donor headquarters and potential INGO and other consortium partners.
• Keep up to date on new rules and ways of working in the grant and commercial contracting sector, and share important intel with colleagues.
• Collaborate with relevant colleagues to sharpen Alert’s offer, and ensure Alert has up-to-date capacity statements in all relevant areas.
• Support colleagues to ensure the CRM and the organisational pipeline are kept up to date with all new relevant information.

Support to country and global programme teams

• In line with resource allocation decisions led by the Head of Fundraising, provide support to country hubs and global programmes teams to design and secure high quality peacebuilding programmes, including mapping, research, identifying and engaging directly with donors, writing proposals and designing appropriate budgets, and supporting country hubs to undertake all of these tasks.
• Provide donor-specific guidance to support strategic go/no go decision making, effective targeting and tailoring of bids and ensure donor compliance.
• Support country hubs and global programme teams to ensure submission of full cost recovery budgets, including advising on adequate personnel resourcing of activities, and country and global shared cost recovery.
• Provide training and learning opportunities for colleagues on specific aspects of fundraising, including specific donor requirements for grants, commercial contracts and full cost recovery budget design.

Bid, framework and consortium coordination

• Coordinate the bid development process for global grant funding or global commercial tender opportunities including programme delivery contracts, framework bids and consultancies.
• Provide written inputs to proposals and tender documents and gather relevant information including CVs and documents to demonstrate compliance.
• Work closely with finance colleagues to ensure quality financial/commercial proposals in line with donor, organisational and legal requirements.
• Where required, act as coordinator for any framework agreements, ensuring all key stakeholders have timely access to information and facilitating quality tender submissions, and any other framework requirements, including monitoring, reporting, donor and consortium liaison, contracting, developing capacity statements.
• Monitor and share draw down opportunities, facilitating go/no-go processes and ensuring compliance with agreed timeframes.

Organisational contributions

• Contribute to internal communications and knowledge management, ensuring these are adopted by country hubs, and participate in organisation-wide events and discussions.
• Occasionally supervise volunteers and procure and monitor the work of consultants as required.
• Undertake any other tasks commensurate with the role, as required by the Head of Fundraising.

You will work closely with our Welsh Language Officer to ensure that the Fund fulfils its statutory legal requirements to comply with the Welsh Language Standards under the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011.

The ability to speak and write in Welsh fluently and confidently is essential for this post.

We are recruiting an interim Grants Operations and Data Manager, responsible for the systems, processes and data that contribute to the smooth running of the Foundation’s funding programmes.

The Rothschild Foundation delivers funding programmes both locally, in its home county of Buckinghamshire, and nationally, across England. Our areas of interest are Arts and Culture and Regenerative Food and Farming, where we make a number of multi-year investments each year, as well as operating a Community Fund which provides small grants to support local communities.

This is an exciting time to join the Grants Team. We have begun to refine our approach to our local funding through a Theory of Change process, involving local stakeholders in developing our intended outcomes. Following a review of our food and farming activity, we are developing a rejuvenated Regenerative Food and Farming strategy for our national activity in spring 2024. We have recently begun to develop our evaluation and learning processes.

We are lucky to call the beautiful Waddesdon Estate our home, operating from an office based on the Estate. Our grant-making is inspired by the art collection and buildings of Waddesdon Manor and the natural environment and farming practice of the Waddesdon Estate. We develop close working relationships with our grantees, often using our spaces and our cultural and environmental assets to support their work.

We offer hybrid working with some home-working, with Wednesday a dedicated day with the department all in the office.

Specific Duties Include
Systems and IT:

• Management of grants database (Blackbaud Grantmaking) including maintenance, auditing and system updates.
• Development of the database including external portal to improve user experience.
• Management and creation of online grant application and reporting forms with associated grantee correspondence and staff management dashboards.
• Working closely with IT and Records Management to structure and maintain the Grants Team’s SharePoint site and shared drives.

Finance:

• Develop, manage and maintain reporting systems to enable effective financial reporting.
• Develop and implement robust due diligence processes for all stages of grant making.
• Oversee grant payment requests and instructions, liaising with Accounts department to ensure payments are made on time and in accordance with grant agreements.
• Liaison with the Accounts department to prepare year end grants reports for statutory accounts and external auditing.

Data and Learning:

• Management and development of systems for collating and organising quantitative and qualitative data to meet evaluation and learning needs.
• Data analysis including creation of infographics and data visualisation.
• Liaison with external partners on systems for collating, organising and sharing data in accordance with current data regulation.
• Supporting the Buckinghamshire Data Exchange (BDEx) by providing data updates and contributing to project effectiveness.
• Ensuring regular grant data updates to the 360 Giving portal are made

Communications:

• Management of the RF website including updates, content creation and liaising with website developers.
• Review of website content to ensure alignment with accessibility guidelines.
• Management of the RF’s social media presence including LinkedIn profile and MailChimp newsletter.
• Assist in production of the RF’s publications, such as Annual Review.

Line Management:

• Line management responsibility of the Grants Officer role.

Administration:

• Manage and improve administrative processes and procedures.
• Preparation of Committee and Trustee papers.
• Minute taking (if required).
• Support where needed in planning and organising logistics for events, in collaboration with Waddesdon’s Private Events and Operational Teams where appropriate.

The role would suit people who have:

• Experience of managing databases, including some experience of grant-making software. We use Blackbaud and training can be provided.
• Experience of share drives and Microsoft office.
• Experience of developing processes for data collection and analysis, including infographics.
• Some financial accounting experience. Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail is a must.
• Strong project management skills.
• Confident and articulate communication, both verbal and written.
• Initiative and are able to work independently, sometimes under pressure.
• An enjoyment of collaborative teamworking.
• Flexibility in approaching new areas with confidence and creativity.
• Access to a car and a clean driving license

Join Britain’s biggest charity supporting Kinship Carers. 

We know kinship carers are strong, capable and fiercely determined to ensure they get what they need to support their kinship family. And we want to support them to feel confident and empowered to do that. Kinship has been awarded funding to develop the first ever training programme for kinship carers. The programme will support all kinship carers across England in the caring role.

This is a new role and will be part of a brand-new team responsible for the delivery of this national training programme. You’ll be supporting the team to deliver high-quality in-person and online training across the country. You’ll help co-ordinate and support the successful delivery of our workshops.

Zarach is the children’s bed charity, and we’re on a mission to end child bed poverty in England, giving children the opportunity to engage at school and a chance to break the cycle of poverty.

Since we were formed in 2017, and registered as a charity in 2018, we have gone on to provide bed bundles to almost 9,000 children through our partnerships with schools who make referrals to us to support their most vulnerable children.

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a passionate, enthusiastic and driven individual to join our team in the following position:

• Business Development Manager

You will play a crucial role in generating income that will positively support the delivery of existing and new community trust projects. In this role, you'll build and nurture strong relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders which will include businesses and schools. You will lead the sales process from prospecting to closing, ensuring a continuous pipeline of high-quality opportunities, and craft innovative solutions that meet client needs. You’ll be able to leverage the assets of the football club and the charity, along with our stories of positive impact, to encourage more businesses and schools to engage and buy in to achieve set income generation targets. The work you do, and income you generate will enable us to make an even bigger impact across the community, helping to improve health and wellbeing, develop stronger, safer connected communities and enhance life opportunities.
