What will you be doing:
As a Volunteer Bookkeeper, you will be at the heart of our financial operations, ensuring our charity runs smoothly and efficiently. We are looking for a meticulous and experienced bookkeeper who understands the unique financial needs of charities and non-profits. You should be confident in handling financial transactions, keeping detailed records, and ensuring compliance with charity finance regulations.
The ideal candidate will be:
Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
Skilled in bookkeeping software (ideally Xero) and familiar with accounting principles.
Experienced in charity finance, including Gift Aid processing and fund accounting.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Record-Keeping
Maintain and update financial records in Xero accounting software.
Ensure all income and expenditure are recorded accurately and categorised correctly.
Bank Reconciliation & Transactions
Process and reconcile bank transactions, donations, grants, and fundraising income.
Manage expense claims and ensure appropriate authorisation processes are followed.
Payroll & Payments
Process payments to staff, freelancers, and suppliers in a timely manner.
Ensure payroll records are correctly maintained (liaising with payroll providers if applicable).
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, financial reports, and budget tracking.
Prepare financial data for trustee meetings and annual reporting.
Support compliance with charity finance regulations, including Gift Aid, VAT (if applicable), and fund accounting principles.
Liaison & Support
Work closely with the Treasurer and relevant stakeholders to provide financial insights.
Assist in the preparation of financial documents for audits or external reviews.

Position Overview:
Children With Voices, a dynamic and community-driven charity committed to supporting vulnerable individuals and families, is seeking a motivated and skilled Volunteer Bid Writer. TRUSTEE OPPORTUNITY
The charity are looking to appoint three Trustees and have identified the following skill areas of interest;
- HR experience - Ideally leading HR strategy, ensuring legal compliance, delivering L&D strategy, pay & reward frameworks and fostering a positive work culture
- Policy, Influencing & Public Affairs experience - ideally working in policy, influencing and/or public affairs. We would also welcome media partnerships and media campaigns experience
- Fundraising strategy and implementation experience - Ideally at Fundraising Director level or have undertaken this role prior to moving to a broader role. Ideally you will have an understanding of a broad range of income generation with experience of leading supporter engagement strategies and successfully increasing reach
The charity are looking to improve the diversity on their Board, including ethnicity, socio-economic and applicants who have connections to underserved communities. They would also welcome applicants from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, or the north of England. Most Trustees on the Board already have first-hand lived experience of Crohn’s and Colitis so new applicants for the role will not be required to have this experience.

Why we want you
We are the RSPCA and it's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. Our volunteers are incredible, they play an essential role in helping us carry out our important animal welfare work every day.
Our fosterers play a vital role by providing a temporary home for animals that are in the care of the RSPCA, either during rehabilitation or whilst they are waiting for a suitable permanent home to be found.
You could be fostering an animal for just a few weeks, or it could be a longer-term placement for several months or more.
What you will be doing
- Providing care and suitable housing in a safe environment for dog/s while they are in foster care in accordance with Society policies and guidelines
- Feeding, watering, exercising, providing enrichment and grooming dog/s (as appropriate)
- Keeping accurate records of expenditure on fostered animals, via receipts and completed expense forms
- Completing records/daily observations in relation to behaviour and health and liaising with your Foster Coordinator when needed
- For dogs ready for rehoming: raising awareness about animals in your care with the hope of rehoming them (including sharing images and videos with your local contact/team)
- For dogs' subject to an RSPCA case: using discretion (where needed) if the animal has specific needs or reasons for being in your care
- Transporting your foster dog for appointments, vet consultations, behaviour training etc
The skills you need
- Volunteers must be aged 18 or over
- Experience of caring for dogs is desirable
- Previous experience of fostering would be beneficial
- You will need a secure garden and plenty of time to spend with the dog/s
- Your family/household must be fully supportive
- If in rented accommodation, permission from the landlord must be obtained
- If you have existing dogs it is preferred that they be spayed/neutered (unless there are medical reasons why they can’t be), but this can be discussed on a case by case basis
- If you have existing dogs, multiple greets/bonding sessions between the dogs must take place

As the Senior HR Officer in our Volunteer Relations team, you will be reporting directly to the HR Manager, as well as oversee the day-to-day management of volunteer relations across our organisation, ensuring the smooth execution of policies and adherence to the Volunteer Handbook. Your role involves being the primary point of contact for volunteers, addressing queries, and resolving issues promptly while upholding the organisation’s standards and values.

Duties

Exit Management
Facilitate seamless volunteer offboarding processes, including conducting structured exit interviews to identify areas of improvement.
Maintain accurate records of exits to inform retention and engagement strategies.
Ensure compliance with organisational policies during volunteer departures.

Volunteer Inactivity Management
Monitor volunteer activity levels and implement inactivity management procedures in collaboration with line managers.
Maintain updated records to track and report volunteer activity trends.

Grievance and Conflict Resolution
Implement and manage an efficient grievance procedure to handle volunteer concerns professionally and promptly.
Ensure impartiality and transparency in addressing grievances, collaborating with relevant stakeholders for resolution.
Collaborate with the L&D team to provide periodic training for volunteers and managers on grievance handling and conflict resolution.

Policy Execution and Compliance
Act as the primary custodian of the Volunteer Handbook, ensuring volunteers are well-informed about organisational policies and procedures.
Monitor compliance with organisational guidelines and address any violations in consultation with the HR Manager.
Partner with the Policy team to update the Volunteer Handbook periodically to reflect regulatory changes and organisational needs.
