The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) is exclusively partnering with Robertson Bell, in our search for a Head of Finance to join our team on a permanent basis. GWEC’s mission is to ensure that wind power establishes itself as the answer to today’s energy challenges, providing substantial environmental and economic benefits.

The Head of Finance is a new role which supports the growth of the global finance team in line with the rapid organisational growth and spread internationally. The Head of Finance role shall provide financial leadership, alongside the CFO, through proactive engagement with each business unit vertical, robust support, monitoring and challenge of financial decision-making in context of plans and strategic directives informing key decisions across the Global Organisation.

The organisation:

We are a high-profile non-profit organisation and trade association leading the international clean energy transition as the world seeks to stay within 1.5c global warming target. We have innovative programmes and collaborations promoting sustainable offshore and onshore wind development, mentoring women working in wind industry, education and energy access. 

GWEC are a Belgium registered association with subsidiary companies and offices in the UK, India, China, Portugal, Singapore, UAE and Vietnam and a global staff of around 75. We have grown our revenue five times in as many years and have bold growth plans over the next decade as we seek the urgent scale up of wind and clean energy in new and existing markets. We have over 20 live grants of up to $4m in value to support our work, particularly in the regional focus markets such as Southeast Asia.

The key duties of this Head of Finance are as follows:

• Prepare annual global organisation budgets by entity, business unit and project.
• Prepare multi-year forecasts and financial plans built on known and likely projects, activities, expected growth and blue-sky scenarios.
• Prepare regular financial performance reports for the Executive Committee and Board.
• Have critical oversight of the global results consolidation.
• Lead the Global Finance team with 3 direct reports and outsourced local relationships for each office jurisdiction.
• Prepare quarterly global and entity forecasts and supervise cashflow.
• Hold oversight of global fiscal and tax compliance.
• Plan, forecast and monitor recovery of funds from grant funded projects.
• Promote the visibility of financial data and outputs to stakeholders through continuous improvement and integration of finance and related systems and processes.
• Deputise for the CFO on Financial matters at Senior Management Team and Executive Committee meetings as required.

The successful candidate will have:

• Qualified as an Accountant: ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent.
• Non-profit experience, particularly with grants and project financial reporting.
• International experience – ideally at HQ group level (non-profit or commercial) demonstrating an understanding of cultural and logistical challenges.
• Excellent FP&A experience, including modelling, budgeting and forecasting.
• Experience of managing a finance team.
• Experience providing a proactive partnering role to business operations, especially in ensuring achievement of budgets
• The willingness to travel internationally to other GWEC offices on an infrequent basis.

Background to the role

AUKEL recruited a new Chief Executive in April 2023, and a new chair in February 2024. In March 2024 we published an ambitious five year strategy which sets out how we want to increase the extent we meet the needs of older people in East London. We have a number of organisational transformation objectives which underpin the strategy; these are things we need to do to strengthen our foundations (following a period of rapid growth) and equip us to deliver safe effective services, at scale, across our footprint.

We are looking for someone to join our team to work with the Service Director to lead the transformation of our Hospital and Home services. These:

- Currently are provided at four hospitals broadly covering four boroughs: Homerton (Hackney), Newham (Newham), The Royal London (Tower Hamlets), Whipps Cross (Waltham Forest). And are staffed by 16 AUKEL employees – three co-ordinators, two project officers, 10 support workers, and an administrator.

- Homerton and The Royal London are jointly commissioned until end March 2029. Newham has been extended to the end of June 2026. Whipps Cross is due to be re-procured, with a short extension under consideration, we aim to jointly bid for this with our neighbouring AUKs.

- Assist vulnerable adults in getting home from hospital, carrying out safety checks in the home, give advice on practical and wellbeing matters, and visiting regularly for a period of four to six weeks after discharge

- Are commissioned based on meeting pre-agreed targets for the number of referrals accepted, and are fully embedded into the hospital discharge system.

- Typically include provision of handyperson services, which is operationally delivered separately by three handypeople.

- Include our (paid for) Home and Care service which is delivered separately to our hospital discharge services, and currently supports c. 40 individuals.

Job Purpose

The Head of Hospital and Home Services will work with the Director on strategic and operational planning and provide operational leadership for the range of Hospital and Care services delivered by Age UK East London. This role is a fantastic opportunity to be part of significant organisational change, to make an impact at a local level, and ensure that older people’s needs are recognised and met effectively. The purpose of this role is to:

· Take responsibility for the delivery of the Hospital and Home service, ensuring its delivery requirements are met and we are responsive to new opportunities.

· Manage and maintain good relationships with commissioners and professionals in the local health and social care system.

· Lead a programme of structural and cultural change in the Hospital and Home service:

- Review the service staffing and delivery arrangements, assessing which services need allocated staff and which would be better delivered by a central team.

- Introduce processes and embed good practice in case recording, reporting and data collection.

- Motivate and engage a dispersed workforce, developing a supportive and flexible culture with consistent service standards.

- Ensure that older people who are supported by the Hospital and Home team also benefit from the range of AUKEL services and those provided by other local partners.

· Ensure the hospital discharge service, the handyperson service and the home and care (paid for service) work together efficiently and effectively.

· Address performance issues in the Home and Care (paid for service), working with senior colleagues (in communications, finance and HR) to develop a financially sustainable model.

· Work with senior leaders across AUKEL, contributing your experience and expertise to problem solve, spot and develop opportunities as well as make an impact on our overall organisational development journey. 

As the role develops or AUKEL begins delivering new services, the scope of the role may expand. The post holder will need to:

· Use sophisticated interpersonal and influencing skills to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders including commissioners, partner providers, senior health and social care professionals, operational staff, volunteers and service users / patients, and maintain AUKEL’s profile with these audiences.

· Motivate and inspire a frontline staff team, using excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of key issues affecting older people, and familiarity with the commissioning environment

· Ensure the services are run to the contract KPI’s for quality and delivery, overseeing data management and analysis to ensure compliance and insight that supports future development and demonstration of impact, taking a continuous improvement approach

Summary of Duties - Key Accountabilities & Deliverables

Coordination and Management of service

· Line manage service coordinators, and oversee the good management of all service staff.

· Ensure the service is delivered in line with contractual requirements

· Working with other senior managers, ensuring good joined up internal referral pathways, clear communication and joint-working where possible

· Ensure the team is fully conversant with the organisation’s CRM (currently Charitylog) and that this is used effectively to record and manage casework and evidence of outcomes and impact of the service

· Ensure the team is knowledgeable about the local service offers and are effective in referring and signposting clients to other relevant services

· Complete and maintain relevant risk assessments.

· Ensure there is cover for gaps in service delivery (e.g. due to A/L or sickness).

· Support team members to supervise volunteers effectively

· Support implementation of any organisation-wide operational changes

· Regularly attend meetings with external professionals as necessary in relation to operational management and delivery of services

· Produce quarterly KPI monitoring and evaluation reports for each contract as required to include data, case studies and insight on service delivery and opportunities

· Continuously review and monitor the service with the aim of improving quality, flexibility, responsiveness and effectiveness, and to identify and respond to new opportunities

· Lead the development and delivery of current and future commissioned health services in AUKEL.

· Work with senior colleagues to conduct ongoing ‘horizon scanning’ of changes in national and local priorities and approaches to services, to maximise opportunities and identify upcoming challenges for older people

· Work with local partners to share best practice and develop opportunities to work together

· Develop strategic relationships in the local health and social care system, to gain insights and inroads to future opportunities and build service reputation and influence.

· Continuously gain feedback from the team in considering how the service can develop further, for example around reach, client journey and other areas.

· Work with CE and colleagues to develop new service proposals, to develop the scope and impact of the Hospital and Home team

Employment Details

 Contract type

This contracted post is for 35 hours per week. We welcome application for flexible working including reduced hours and other flexible working arrangements.

Location

We support hybrid working to suit our team. When in the office, the post holder will be mostly based at our office in Plaistow with frequent visits to the 4 hospitals and to our Head office in Bethnal Green.

Salary 

Between £41,200 and £46,350 Plus 5% employer pension contribution.

We have recently introduced a salary bands system. This salary range refers to the lowest and top steps of the grade. Salary will progress every year until the top salary is reached.

 Holiday entitlement

25 days (pro-rata for contracted hours) of paid holiday per year plus bank holidays. This increases after two years of service to 27 days, and then a further one day per every year of service up to a maximum of 30 days after five years of service. In addition, all employees are entitled to one day off on (or around) their Birthday.

Health & Wellbeing: 

Hear4You is a listening service set up to support people in the community who are struggling emotionally. We receive referrals from our local GP surgery and people are matched with a volunteer listener for up to twelve 1-2-1 sessions. 

We also run an emergency foodbank twice a week in partnership with CEF , and are in the process of setting up a pantry in partnership with Mercy in Action to support 25 struggling families with ongoing food poverty support. Youth:

Know Your Worth is an eight week self esteem course for teenage girls run twice a year for local young people followed by 6-12 months of mentoring. We have a small team of volunteer mentors and a trained volunteer leader who runs the course. 

We are also setting up regular opportunities to gather the girls who have completed the Know Your Worth course for ongoing support. 

Your job would be:

• Support the Know Your Worth Leader (volunteer role) in organising and running our Know Your Worth course for teenage girls, overseeing sign ups, communications with families, safeguarding and health & safety.

• Recruit, train and support volunteer mentors to ensure mentoring programme runs effectively and safely. 

• Develop and manage our monthly/termly sessions for those who have attended a Know Your Worth course

Flourishing Families:

In response to local need, we want to provide support for families before they reach crisis points. We do this through 1-2-1 pastoral support and the Kids Matter Parenting courses as well as hosting seasonal family events and a weekly toddler group that’s run in partnership with Barton Community Church. 

Your job would be:

• To provide and coordinate targeted pastoral care to individual families in need. 

• To organise and deliver a termly, seasonal community event ideally in partnership with other local groups and organisations

Other key tasks/responsibilities 

• Enable the work, relationships and partnerships of Love Barton to continue and, expand the reach, visibility and community integration of the charity 

• Network with other key providers and stakeholders in Barton and attend community meetings to represent Love Barton 

• Work with the trustees to identify funding streams to sustain the role and projects

• Lead all recruitment, training and management of volunteers including ensuring safeguarding training and DBS certificates are up to date

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

 Primary Function

Support the Programmes Director with design, planning, delivery and reporting of current and future Action4Youth Programmes and initiatives. The Programmes Manager will line manage specific programme teams, will have responsibility for working within a set budget and will be a key link with partner organisations ensuring best practice and efficient programme delivery. They will be responsible for monitoring contractual KPI’s and take the lead on reporting and impact measurement of specific programmes.

The Programmes Manager will need to provide cover for all their direct reports, as well having some of their own programme delivery. They will need to be confident with large groups of young people and be able to work flexibly. We are looking for an experienced line manager with good knowledge of HR processes and experience managing multiple different work streams. This a senior role suited to an experienced and insightful manager who will contribute to the strategic growth of Action4Youth.

Action4Youth currently operates a number of programmes/ services. The Programmes Manager will lead on the following; The Junction Youth Centre, The Inspiration Programme and Training/ Membership and Mentoring. You will also be required to assist with delivery and the on call rota for the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme during peak times. Other programmes may be added in future as Action4Youth develops new initiatives based on the needs of the young people we work with. This role will focus on each or any of these as required within Action4Youth’s overall senior team.

The Programmes Manager will directly line manage the Programmes Leader, The Junction Centre Manager and The Inspiration Programme Manager.

Programme Specific duties and responsibilities:

The Junction Youth Centre 

The Junction is a multi service youth centre based in High Wycombe town centre, it is open 7 days a week from 4-9pm. The Junction is for young people aged 12-18 years (up to 25 with SEND) and is funded entirely from Grants and Trusts. The service offers a variety of sessions ranging from a general youth space, health and wellbeing, cooking and 1:1 mentoring.

The Programmes Manager will be expected to work at The Junction one day a week from 2- 9pm and will work with the Centre Manager to ensure the smooth running of the service. You will oversee contractual KPI’s and lead on reporting. This role will include being part of an on-call rota during evening and weekends.

The Inspiration programme

The Inspiration programme is an Action4Youth initiative that aims to broaden horizons and raise aspirations of young people. The programme takes place in schools across Bucks, Milton Keynes and surrounding counties and follows five pillars; Police and Criminal Justice, Health and Wellbeing, Arts and Culture, Community and the Environment and Working Life.

The Programmes Manager will oversee the successful delivery of The Inspiration Programme and support the Inspiration Programme Manager to plan, timetable and deliver high quality programmes. They will be responsible for quality control and will personally deliver at least one TIP programme across the academic year. They will need to work closely with the Development Team on growth of the programme and broaden our reach into more schools and geographical areas.

 

Training/ Membership and Mentoring

Action4Youth is an umbrella organisation for voluntary youth clubs and groups across Bucks and Milton Keynes. The Programmes Leader provides training, both internally and externally, and line manages the Aylesbury Vale and Milton Keynes Mentor. You will support the Programmes Leader to lead our membership and training programme, achieving set KPI’s, and ensure the smooth delivery of our mentoring programme.

NCS

NCS is the government’s flagship youth development programme, funded through the NCS Trust. NCS offers 16 and 17 year-olds from different backgrounds the chance to take part in a range of challenging activities away from, and in, their communities.

The Programmes Manager will assist their counterpart in delivery of the NCS programme at peak times; specifically working on seasonal staffing, training and wave management. You will be part of an out of hours on call rota and be required to be on site on programme start and finish days. When on call you will be required to provide programme guidance and support on safeguarding and incidents.

 Key Tasks and Deliverables

•  Work closely with the Programmes Director, Programmes Manager and your direct reports to ensure the successful and effective implementation of the above programmes
• Assist with out of hours on call duties for NCS residentials and The Junction Youth Centre- this will include incident management and safeguarding support
• Provide day to day management of the assigned projects ensuring effective programme delivery
• Plan projects, monitor overall progress, manage risks, opportunities and resolve issues as required to keep projects on track to agreed baselines and objectives.
• Provide direct line management to staff of the assigned programmes

ABOUT GLAN

The Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) works with affected communities to pursue innovative legal actions across borders to challenge states and other powerful actors involved in human rights violations and systemic injustice. Our actions address the most pressing instances of human rights concern and they fall within the following themes: War and occupation; accountability and supply chains; environmental and economic justice; and migration and border violence.

Since our establishment in 2016, we have developed legal strategies directly addressing human rights impacts in over 23 countries and territories. Our cases include the successful legal challenge against imports of cotton produced with forced labour in Xinjiang (East Turkistan) into the UK on behalf of World Uyghur Congress and the climate case against 32 European States before the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights, brought on behalf of six Portuguese youth-applicants.

More recently, we have supported the preeminent Palestinian human rights organisation Al Haq, to rapidly challenge UK weapons exports to Israel due to the risk of these arms being used in violations of international law.

This is an exciting time to join GLAN. At this point in time, the team is small with some budget to work with external freelancers, consultants or agencies. We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.  

Absolutely central to this is designing, commissioning and managing complex and rigorous impact evaluations with experts in the field. The new government has an ambition to halve knife crime within a decade, and we’re anticipating opportunities to work with them to build evidence on new approaches to tackling violence involving children. Your role will focus on creating and making the best of those opportunities. You will: 

• Serve as a senior member of the team. YEF is buzzing with activity and in order to prevent any bottlenecks, we need to expand our senior capacity. 

• Run and manage closed calls for complex evaluations commissioned under Targeted Projects. For each of the programmes we work with, we find and appoint independent evaluators. 

• Expertly manage relationships with key stakeholders. Aside from evaluators, we work closely with other grantees and partners.

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. In 2024 we embarked on our new 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it. 

It is an exciting time to be joining us at Crisis as we launch our ambitious new 10-year strategy. Our services will be key to helping deliver its aims. We work with thousands of people across England, Scotland, and Wales each year so they can leave homelessness behind for good. We have recently adapted the way our services work to maximise our impact in ending homelessness. We have increased our capacity to work with people one to one and strengthened our ability to support those people facing the most barriers to preventing or ending their homelessness.

Location: Crisis Skylight London, 50 – 52 Commercial Street, London, E1 6LT

You will be able to work from home one day per week in line with Crisis’ Hybrid Working Policy. You will be expected to travel around London on a regular basis to meet with partners and stakeholders. National travel i.e., to other Skylight Centres will be required on occasion.

Crisis Skylight London has a strong presence in the capital, working to end homelessness and delivering trauma informed services to our members, all underpinned by our commitment to Psychologically Informed Environments and supported by Clinical Psychologists.

We have just begun to embark on an ambitious, new 10-year Strategy, which will see our services evolve to become hubs, delivering best in class services alongside partners, increasing our influence to see systemic change to end homelessness for the people and places we work. 

The Director of Crisis Skylight London will be responsible for leading and developing strategic partnerships across several London Boroughs. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and lead the service into our new 10-year strategy, influencing key local and national political, community and business leaders, partners, and providers to drive forward our strategic priorities all with the aim of ending homelessness. You will play a key role as a decision marker on the Client Services Senior Leadership Team, along with your counterparts in other London Skylights, and from across the different regions of the UK.

About you

We are looking for an experienced, innovative, values driven senior leader from the homelessness, health, safeguarding or associated sectors. You will have experience of building relationships with senior leaders to develop strategic partnerships with the aim of achieving strategic objectives and influencing social change. You will have the motivation, commitment, and vision, able to influence a range of audiences and able to articulate a compelling case for change to key decision makers across London.  You will be a leader in your field, with experience of operational delivery, ensuring high quality and safe services to vulnerable adults, with the ability to provide clear leadership to your team. If this is you, we would love to hear from you.

What we are looking for: We are looking for a person to make the role their own. The successful applicant will have excellent written skills with the ability to produce concise and creative bids. They will also have proficient IT skills, specifically Microsoft Office software and excellent communication and presentation skills required to build relationships with potential funders. They will have demonstrative ability to plan and prioritise their own workload with minimum supervision and be able to plan ahead and work within agreed timeframes.

What you will need: The successful candidate will need to have at least two years’ experience in an income generation environment as well as a proven record of successful applications for funding from Trusts and Grants. They will have a demonstrative ability to research and develop relationships with partners, Trusts, and other Grant-making bodies.
