The Role:
To get the most out of being on the RCS’s Council, we are looking for those who have a passion for our aims and can commit to the time and effort required. Our trustees need strategic vision, independent judgement, and an ability to work effectively and actively as part of a small but dedicated charitable organisation. We are seeking an experienced Chair who can lead the Council in a collegiate and effective manner to deliver the most impact for the citizens of the Commonwealth.
To fulfil the duties of this role, we are looking for someone who has considerable board experience and a commitment to charitable endeavours. A background in the Commonwealth is not required. We are especially keen to hear from people from a wide range of backgrounds.

About us

HOPE not hate Charitable Trust, which was formerly known as Searchlight Educational Trust, was created in 1992 and over the years has raised over £20m to pursue its mission. In 2022, it changed its remit from being a conventional Charity, employing staff and running programmes, to become a fundraising and grant making Trust. HnHCT primarily supports the work of HOPE not hate Ltd, but it can also make grants to other organisations which meets our charitable objectives.

The Trustees meet four times a year to review the fundraising targets and ensure the grant made to HOPE not hate Ltd is being spent effectively and within our charitable objectives. Trustee role description

The role of a Trustee is to ensure that HOPE not hate Charitable Trust delivers on our mission, vision and values.

Duties:

· Ensuring that the organisation pursues its stated objects (purposes), as defined in its governing document, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy

· Ensuring that the organisation complies with its governing document (i.e. its memorandum and articles of association), charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations

· Ensuring that the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its charitable objects (i.e. the charity must not spend money on activities that are not included in its own objects, however worthwhile or charitable those activities are) for the benefit of the public

· Ensuring that the organisation defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets

· Safeguarding the good name and values of the organisation

· Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place

· Ensuring the financial stability of the organisation

· Protecting and managing the property of the charity and ensuring the proper investment of the charity’s funds

· Following proper and formal arrangements for the appointment, supervision, support, appraisal and remuneration of the chief executive

The Role of an HNHCT Trustee

Evolve Counselling is a long-established charitable social enterprise, providing low cost, affordable or funded mental health counselling to adults in mainly Cambridgeshire and surrounding counties. Our counselling community is made up of 50 – 60 qualified self-employed practitioners, working part-time. We deliver talking therapies to adults – online and in person. Our service delivers around 500 counselling sessions per month to a broad range of individuals, many of whom would not otherwise be able to access counselling support. Evolve also provides supervision, reflective practice, critical incident support, and mental health awareness and related training, to organisations and businesses large and small.

Our Trustee Board is currently drawn from the counselling and therapies community, plus commercial and other charity backgrounds. InterVol is a student volunteering charity in the United Kingdom that connects students with volunteering opportunities locally and overseas. InterVol supports students to develop their skills with community projects in the UK and then use those skills to support the work of charitable partners overseas on health, education, refugee support, and conservation placements. Our project placements and volunteering opportunities are designed by our local partners and with the long-term needs of beneficiaries and communities in mind. InterVol supports a network of five student societies at English universities with around one hundred volunteers annually.

InterVol is looking for new trustees to join our board. Trustees are responsible for ensuring that InterVol follows our guiding principles and acts within the law. · Keeping accurate records of income and expenditure in line with legal regulation.

· ​ Helping us to set an annual budget and periodically produce an updated rolling five yearly financial plan which will help assess the future viability of the charity

· Regularly reviewing the reserves policy considering the latest Charity Commission guidance, seek approval from trustees for any amendments

· Providing advice to trustees on investments when the level of reserves exceeds 12 months of expenditure considering latest Charity Commission guidance

· Being a signatory for cheque payments, reimbursing invoices, paying monthly staff salaries and expenses

·  Preparing financial reports and appoint auditors annually to independently audit and inspect the accounts

· Ensuring that the final accounts are produced in accordance with the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) and that funds are correctly identified. The chair's annual report must be in accordance with SORP

· Working with the charity’s secretary ensure that the approved annual and audited accounts are presented to Companies House on time

· Summarising a set of accounts to be presented at the AGM. 

·  Leading the annual review of finance policies and procedures advising trustees of any changes

· Acting as the lead contact for both the charity’s bank and CCLA Investment Management Limited.  Ensure that the mandates for both organisations reflect the latest finance procedures

· Regularly review cash flow and ensure that funds are available in the current bank account to meet day to day activities

·  Updating National CPRE about our charity finances

· Assisting with funding applications and accounting for external funding

· Where relevant, ensuring employment regulations are met e.g. staff salaries, pensions.  Advise chair and seek approval from trustees on the annual pay award for staff

The Historic Towns and Villages Forum (HTVF) is seeking new trustees to help the Board make the most of a transformative stage in its history. HTVF became a registered charity in 2024, and over the last year has undertaken a review of its mission, vision and strategy, with two new Executive Co-Directors.

About us: The Historic Towns and Villages Forum (HTVF) is an independent charity with a mission to promote the prosperity, sustainability and heritage of historic cities, towns and villages for the benefit of all.

We provide support, training and information to organisations (including local authorities, town and parish councils, civic and amenity societies, and consultancies) as well as individual professionals, students, and members of the public engaged in the planning and management of historic cities, towns and villages. We aim to help them conserve the character and significance of historic places, while realising their full social, environmental and economic potential. We do this through events, research projects, publications, and partnerships.

What we’re looking for: We are seeking a minimum of three individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas to join our Board of Trustees:

• Senior professional leadership in a Local Authority
• Placemaking and urban regeneration expertise
• Marketing and fundraising
• Financial management
• Community and political engagement
• Research programme development and management

For these roles we also value:

• Innovative Thinking: HTVF is entering a new phase of development. A creative and forward-thinking approach to challenges and opportunities is sought from our new intake of trustees.  The ability to facilitate the Forum’s engagement with other organisations and groups would be helpful too.
• Geographical Spread: We aim for a wide geographical representation and welcome applications from across the UK, bearing in mind some meetings will be face-to-face in either London or Oxford.
• Inclusivity: We also aim to reflect the diversity of the communities with which we engage, and welcome applications from people of all ages and backgrounds who can bring the skills and experience identified above.

In this round of recruitment, we are looking in particular for an Honorary Treasurer. All new trustees will receive a comprehensive induction to the role and the work of the Charity.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Payments/Stripe/Stripe Connect Specialist to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless and secure payment processing for our platform. You will be responsible for integrating and managing Stripe Connect within the Unify Giving app, optimising payment flows, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain seamless payment processing integrations using Stripe Connect.
• Optimise payment flows to minimise friction and maximize transaction success rates.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers to implement new payment features and functionalities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve payment-related issues.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest industry trends and best practices in payment processing.
• Bonus: Experience with software development or a strong technical aptitude will be highly valued.
