Responsibilities of our Feline Welfare Associate Researcher:

• work on domestic cat welfare related projects both internally in Cats Protection and in collaboration with academics and other organisations to increase the knowledge and data on cat welfare within a practical shelter landscape
• daily tasks including supporting the completion of research papers, literature reviews, evidence synthesis and its critical evaluation as well as qualitative data analysis from ongoing projects
• substantial periods of cat based fieldwork including travel and stays away from home will also be required as part of the role

About the Feline Research team:

• the team work across a series of complex research workstreams which prioritise the development of non-invasive, biologically sound ways to support cat-wellbeing focused data gathering
• the post holder will be required to work closely and collaboratively with the rest of the team, in order to support on varied research tasks subject to the needs of each ongoing project
• the team consist of Feline Welfare Postdoctoral Researchers and a Feline Welfare Scientist as well as the wider research team

What we’re looking for in our Feline Welfare Associate Researcher:

• previously undertaken non-invasive animal behaviour and welfare focused studies including literature searches, project design, data collection and analysis, manuscript writing
• applied animal welfare and husbandry experience e.g. in shelter/zoo/animal charity/veterinary/community context
• excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
• self-motivation and the ability to effectively problem solve and work on own initiative
• post-graduate degree in animal behaviour, animal welfare, veterinary medicine, psychology, biological science or related subject
• valid UK driving licence

The Head of Region provides strategic and operational leadership in the region, ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the regional team and the successful development and delivery of the regional business plan and projects. Key relationships

Internally, the Head of Region works closely with the Director of Operations and other Heads of Region to support consistent operational delivery, and management and development of regional staff. The role also interacts closely with all other CCT teams including Conservation, Fundraising & Communication, Initiatives & Partnerships, and Finance.

Externally, the Head of Region is CCT’s regional representative, brokering joint working and engagement with statutory and Church of England stakeholders, funders, politicians at all levels, volunteers, communities and donors.

Safeguarding Manager

The Independent Chair of the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory Panel (DSAP) will provide effective oversight of safeguarding governance and will work closely with the Head of Safeguarding to set agendas, monitor performance and actions and facilitate wider strategic conversations as needed with DSAP representatives and wider stakeholders and partners. 

The Independent Chair ensures the DSAP has strategic overview of safeguarding practice across the diocese and is in line with the House of Bishops policy and practice guidance. The Chair will work with the Head of Safeguarding to ensure that the DSAP functions effectively. They will also assess and offer views to the Bishop and Diocesan Secretary on whether the safeguarding team are appropriately resourced as well as the diversity of skill set and experience/background of its members. This will be used to inform resourcing decisions made by the Diocesan Board of Finance.

The Independent Chair is an ad hoc point of contact for safeguarding advice for the Head of Safeguarding, Bishop of Leeds and Diocesan Secretary.

Time commitment

The committee meet three times per year at church house in Leeds. Chairs should also allow for preparation time and additional meetings to support both the organisation and members of the committee. 

Renumeration

£400 per 6 hours (6 hour day)

Three DSAP meetings per year, plus average of 2 days per years for any additional support and guidance. (Total 5 days per year)

About the Role

The Head of Fundraising will be a key member of our Senior Management Team (SMT) and take ownership of our Fundraising Strategy to support the diversification of our income. This role is vital to our future growth and sustainability, and an opportunity to lead an exciting part of the charity which makes a real difference to the students we support.

Strategy and Leadership

• Lead the delivery of our fundraising strategy in line with our current organisational strategy which runs from 2024-2029. 
• Lead on the management of key information about Get Further’s fundraising activity and ensure it is stored appropriately, well organised and with high attention to detail. This will include supporting the transition of the fundraising function onto Salesforce.
• Prepare fundraising update reports for the Finance and Risk Committee and the Board of Trustees as required.
• Contribute to and attend internal/external events on behalf of Get Further as required.

Fundraising and Stakeholder Engagement

• Lead the core fundraising activities, including line managing our Fundraising Officer. This includes developing an in-depth understanding of existing and potential supporters to provide tailored relationship management, including engagement opportunities, to meet significant targets over multiple years.
• Support the Fundraising Officer to identify new prospects, in particular, charitable trusts and foundations that have the potential to support Get Further for the first time. You will effectively qualify and engage with prospects to build a pipeline for the coming years, matching prospects with appropriate asks.
• Oversee and write compelling applications for funding that are tailored to each recipient and make a convincing case for how their support with help more young people achieve their gateway qualifications.
• Lead on ensuring all supporters and donors receive updates and reports within the required timeframes and that these are crafted with impact data and case studies to ensure maximum stakeholder engagement.

Team Management and Collaboration

• Provide effective line management of our Fundraising Officer to support their personal development and successful delivery of their role.
• Work closely with the COO to develop budgets to accompany applications and provide financial reports to funders and partners.
• Work closely with the Impact Team to develop efficient processes for impact reporting to funders.
• Support the COO to ensure that policies relating to fundraising are up to date and fit for purpose.

Are you an experienced Angular developer who would like to join with other Christians in Tearfund's work with local churches around the world tackling poverty?

This role within a team of 13 developers will allow you to use your strong technical experience to serve people living in poverty in more than 50 countries around the world through providing effective applications for  the design, monitoring & evaluation of our front-line projects and for our finance staff. 

This is a key time for the team as we start the migration of our project design, monitoring & evaluation application to Angular. In this post you will work alongside our other Angular developers, sharing their expertise and building an application which will enable our staff and local church partners around the world to demonstrate the amazing impact of our work in the communities we work with.

The team is also crucial to our finance staff, being responsible for the development and support of an Angular application which is critical for finance data entry across the countries we work in. We are keen to leverage AI to increase productivity in this area so experience in working with AI technologies, or an interest in learning, would be an advantage.

Although not essential, experience of Power BI would also be useful as we extend our reporting suite, using our SQL Server data warehouse to demonstrate the impact of our work and provide vital financial information to staff across Tearfund. Thanks to our MS Azure integrations, our data warehouse contains combines data from multiple applications and our developers are key in bringing that data to life in ways that can help users across the organisations make data-led business decisions.

Legacy Officer

Location:  London

Hiring range: 34,000-40,000 GBP per year

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legacy Officer to join our team. You would be responsible for your share of the legacy administration cases in the UK, ensuring that gifts left to IFAW in Wills are handled efficiently, sensitively, and in accordance with legal and organisational standards. You would report to the Global Legacy Administration Manager on a day-to-day basis. Your work will directly support IFAW’s mission by maximising income from legacies to fund our animal welfare and conservation efforts.

Role and Responsibilities

· Managing a caseload of legacy gifts: This includes pecuniary, residuary and life interest legacies, ensuring IFAW receives its full entitlement in a timely manner. This may include a small selection of contentious cases.

· Working closely with solicitors, executors, and beneficiaries: You’ll provide accurate and sensitive support throughout the probate process, building trust and ensuring a smooth experience for all parties involved.

· Maintaining meticulous records and reports: You’ll ensure accurate financial and contact records are kept, reports are generated on time, and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements is met.

· Providing recommendations for action: You’ll provide your suggestions to move forward any legacy case where action needs to be sanctioned by management or Trustees, or where there may be a risk to the charity's reputation.

· Assisting with monthly/annual reconciliation and audit: This includes following our financial rules to make appropriate accruals, adjustments, and provide audit-ready case files.

· Liasing with other teams within IFAW: When appropriate, you’ll work collaboratively with other teams, such as Finance, Donor Relations or the Legal team, to ensure a seamless process for legacy gifts, and to promote the legacy team’s recognition and standing in the organisation through internal engagement.

· Staying up to date on relevant legislation and best practices: You’ll be a member of the ILM and regularly keep abreast of changes in the world on legacy case management, to ensure IFAW’s legacy administration remains efficient and compliant.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

· At least 1 year of experience in legacy administration or estate management: You’ll have a strong understanding of probate laws, Wills, trust, and estate administration. Experience of using FirstClass is desirable.

· Achieved or willing to work towards certification: You have or will work towards gaining the ILM’s Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration (CiCLA).

· Strong communication skills: You can build rapport with solicitors, executors, and bereaved families, providing sensitive and clear communication.

This is a new role within the organisation, providing leadership to maintain the operations, finances, and team at the charity, alongside exploring exciting new directions in relation to partnerships and commercial opportunities.

This is a one year cover, with potential to extend.

The Managing Director is a crucial role within the organisation, and will be responsible to the Trustees for the overall leadership, management and strategic development of Fat Macy’s Foundation (including instigating projects and taking opportunities to increase income).

As the external face of the organisation, they will be a strong communicator, raising the profile of the organisation and networking effectively.

Responsible for Fat Macy’s income generation, they will be scanning the horizon for new business opportunities and seizing relevant opportunities to form new partnerships. Equally important will be internal management: developing an effective and efficient organisation.

Structure

The Managing Director reports to and is accountable to the Trustees.

The Managing Director will work in partnership with the Fat Macy’s co-founder and CEO of Fat Macy’s Ltd and will oversee the general management of the charity. They will line manage the senior leadership team at Fat Macy’s Foundation: the Programme and Grants Manager, the Development and Operations Manager and the Training Lead (0.5 FTE).

What you'll do

Organisational leadership

• Provide ongoing leadership, and maintain the vision and strategic direction for Fat Macy’s to achieve its mission of supporting people from homelessness into supported, stable lives. 

• Ensure that Fat Macy’s values continue to underpin all activity, decision-making, and working culture.

• Managing, supporting and coaching a motivated and highly effective Senior Leadership Team which is committed to Fat Macy’s values and vision.

• Working closely with Fat Macy’s Ltd CEO to ensure a unified approach across the Ltd company and charitable foundation.

• Motivate and coach staff, role model behaviour and values and authentically representing Fat Macy’s internally and externally.

• Ensure Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and lived experience are prioritised across all levels of the organisation.

• Champion the Fat Macy’s Advisory Board, ensuring their involvement and lived experience plays a meaningful role across the organisation.

• Supporting/enabling/coaching existing senior leadership team.

Strategy and partnership: making an impact

• Lead clear strategies for Fat Macy’s to ensure it remains a stable and sustainable organisation with clear impact

• Ensure effective delivery of Fat Macy’s strategy, working with the Senior Leadership Team and board. 

• Work closely with Fat Macy’s Ltd to create opportunities for young Londoners living in temporary accommodation

• Advise and guide the Trustees in strategy, policy and good governance

• Source partners, as appropriate, to ensure Fat Macy’s has the best impact for those we support

• Oversee impact measurement and report annually to the board

Income generation, finance, fundraising and budgets

• Maintain and augment the organisation’s financial resources through prudent and productive partnerships, management, fundraising and income generation

• Work with existing and prospected corporate partners to create clear income streams for the charity

• Supervise and oversee the fundraising and resource development for Fat Macy’s

• Oversee the grant programme for housing deposits

• Produce management accounts, annual reports and end of year financials and budgets with accountants

Communication

• Promote Fat Macy’s to the media and the public

• Keep up-to-date with current and future thinking in the areas of homelessness, social enterprise and food-based solutions

• Support the communication of trainee voices and the Fat Macy’s Advisory Board

Management of people

• Provide clear high standards of leadership, management and direction to the senior management team at Fat Macy’s - working closely with the co-founder of Fat Macy’s Ltd.

• Oversee and coordinate the activities of the senior leadership staff: Programme and Grant Manager and Development and Operations Manager, with weekly meetings. 

• Communicate to staff a clear vision for the organisation and a strategic framework for development.

Activities of the business

• Oversee the delivery of the Fat Macy’s Foundation programmes

• Coordinate with the Fat Macy’s Ltd co-founder to oversee the strategy and direction of Fat Macy’s Ltd.

• Ensure fair and efficient decision making on projects and appropriate systems for implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

• Identify, action, deliver and evaluate the opportunities available to develop Fat Macy’s portfolio and impact.

Legal responsibilities and systems 

• Identify, assess and manage risks in line with the risk management framework and policies on risk management and internal control.

• Control and manage health and safety issues within Fat Macy’s by ensuring appropriate responsibilities are communicated, allocated and actioned.

• Oversee the social enterprise’s governance, including sitting on both boards (Fat Macy’s Foundation and Fat Macy’s Ltd).

Governance

• Meet monthly with the Chair to develop board meeting agendas that make effective use of people’s time and skills.

• Ensure Fat Macy’s has robust governance processes in place that evolve as the organisation grows and develops.

• Work closely with the Trustees to ensure that Fat Macy’s has a diverse, skilled and experienced board and support with trustee recruitment and onboarding.

• Provide high quality and timely board papers and information for board meetings.

• Support the Finance Sub Committee to provide effective finance governance to the organisation.

• Ensure effective risk management processes are in place to support good governance.

Key information

• Salary: c. £45,000 dependent on experience.

• Hours: 37.5 hours per week (flexible working encouraged).

• Location: We’re based at 232 Shoreditch High Street, and would like this role to be in at least 80% of the week. However, we encourage flexible working.
