The role of Management Accountant is to provide high quality support to the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis in the annual budget setting process, whilst being responsible for the monthly management accounts, including production, analysis, reporting and communication.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain the full analysis, with all appropriate backup, of the current organisational budget: pay, non-pay, income and capital; ensuring that all documentation is fully backed up.
• Ensure complete transparency with budget holders of all components and assumptions inherent in the budget.

Financial Accountant

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Caxton Youth Organisation, a specialist youth charity, that empowers learning disabled and autistic young people aged 11-25 living in the London borough of Westminster.

We have a part-time, fully online/ remote role available to produce monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts. The role requires good working knowledge and experience of Xero accounting software, as well as experience working with a small organisation.

We require someone to work 3-4 days a month. The working hours are flexible and would suit someone who may be re-entering the job market or is retiring, but looking for some additional work.

We have a Finance and Facilities Officer who is responsible for the day-to-day input of transactions into Xero, reconciling bank statements, producing invoices and remittance advice for grants and liaising with payroll. The payroll function is outsourced to CET Payroll. The unaudited financial statements are prepared by the independent examiner. The CEO is responsible for the financial management of the organisation.

Your role

The work would include:

•  monthly preparation and posting of payroll journals

• Minimum of 2 years experience of using Xero Software

Ivy Rock Partners is currently supporting an impactful organisation in their search for a proactive and detail-oriented Financial Accountant. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated finance team that is making a difference within medical research. The role involves contributing to high-quality statutory audits, efficient month-end and year-end processes, and maintaining a strong financial control environment.

 Key Responsibilities:

• Support the production of group year-end statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors.
• Interpret and communicate the impact of FRS102 changes on the organization’s financial practices.
• Drive process improvements to reduce reporting timeframes and enhance the quality of financial information.
• Play a key role in developing and optimizing finance systems.
• Perform monthly reconciliation and group consolidation tasks.
• Maintain a robust control environment, proactively managing risks, and addressing audit findings.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of effective financial policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Fully qualified Financial Accountant (ACA, ICAEW, or equivalent).
• Recent experience in an accounting practice, with knowledge of Financial Reporting Standards (FRS102) and charities SORP.
• Strong knowledge of tax and VAT compliance.
• Proficiency in Excel, including functions like VLOOKUPs and pivot tables; experience with Workday is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
