The Group Finance Director holds a key role in the executive team in the Foundation Office of the Charity. They are accountable for all matters relating to the UWGCF Charity finance, including the oversight of school income, endowment investments, loans, subsidiary companies, VAT, and the leadership of the Foundation finance team. To succeed in the job, the post holder needs to build effective working relationships with independent school bursars and finance teams and link effectively with the Business managers in the state funded academies.
The UWGCF is a complex organisation, and the post holder will need to demonstrate a high level of communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to build effective and supportive working relationships with other and be prepared to engage fully in the work of the Foundation. This may mean working outside of normal working hours but most importantly means communicating and work with colleagues as part of the team.
Initially they will report to the Chair of Trustees, although following a Governance Review and further work on Foundation Strategy, the Trustees may appoint a Foundation CEO. Restorative Justice for All (RJ4All) is a charitable, user-led international institute with expertise in preventing and addressing harm at the individual, community and inter-state levels. We are one of the world’s leading experts in transferring complex criminological and social justice concepts into practice through real-life pilots and community projects.
The UK Operations Director will lead on the delivery, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of RJ4All’s UK-based services, and especially those run from the RJ4All Rotherhithe Community Centre. It is expected that they will generate income for the UK operations and contribute to new ideas for UK-based projects that fall within RJ4All’s agreed strategy. Finally, the post holder will act in place of the Director when they are unavailable or for any other agreed reason.

About the Role
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a visionary and strategic financial leader to join our team as Chief Finance Officer (CFO). This executive-level role offers a unique opportunity to shape the financial future of an organization committed to tackling the global challenge of malnutrition. . In the face of increasing global challenges like COVID-19, the conflict in Ukraine, and worsening malnutrition and hunger, we are driven by our strategy to transform food systems for the benefit of the most vulnerable populations.
The Role
As CFO, you will play a pivotal role in our Strategic Management Team (SMT), providing financial leadership that aligns with our bold strategy. You will ensure that GAIN’s financial plans are robust, transparent, and meet the highest standards of probity, while also ensuring compliance with donor requirements for budgeting and reporting. You will lead GAIN’s finance team, providing the strategic direction necessary to support our ambitious goals.
This role can be based in London (UK), Nairobi (Kenya), or New Delhi (India), offering flexibility for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Provide expert financial analysis, strategic guidance, and sound financial management across GAIN. Lead the finance team to support the organization’s strategic goals.
- Corporate Finance: Develop and manage GAIN’s corporate finance activities, ensuring robust financial systems and processes that are user-centric and future-proofed for a growing organization.
- Budgeting and Reporting: Oversee effective budgeting and financial planning, supporting the development and use of KPIs, and ensuring transparency and value for money.
- Risk, Compliance, and Controls: Manage relationships with external auditors and ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards. Oversee risk management, financial controls, and regulatory compliance.
Your Profile
The ideal candidate will have a distinguished career in finance, ideally within the non-profit or related sectors, and a proven track record at the Finance Director or CFO level in a multi-country context. Key attributes include:
- A recognised professional finance qualification (e.g., ACA, FCA, CPA).
- Extensive experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and managing financial operations in a complex, global environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to lead a geographically dispersed team.
- Deep understanding of diverse regulatory environments, particularly those relevant to Swiss Foundations.
- Expertise in donor and project funding, FOREX, and cash optimisation in a non-profit context.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including Board members, donors, and non-financial staff.

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the United Nations in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Due to COVID19, conflict in Ukraine and climate change, malnutrition and hunger have worsened significantly since 2019, reversing a decade of progress. There is growing recognition that our food systems need to change if we are to reverse these trends.
GAIN’s Strategy aims to transform food systems to make healthier diets from sustainable food systems accessible to all people and especially those whose are most vulnerable to shocks. By 2027, we aim to improve the access of 1.5 billion people to nutritionally enhanced staple foods, improve the access of 25 million people to healthier diets, and support positive food system change in 10 countries. Our new Director of Finance will play a lead role in developing and implementing financial management and reporting strategies to help meet our financial objectives.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, your key responsibilities will include;
- Developing strategy, challenging assumptions, and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets, and business drivers
- Setting, monitoring, and overall delivery of the Finance Department operational plan and targets
- Leading the annual budget-setting process, providing a comprehensive business partnering service to budget holders across the organisation
- Proactively managing cash, banking activities, investments, and funding needs, ensuring that the organisation’s cash flow is accurately forecasted and properly managed
- Leading and managing the production of statutory accounts and reports for all Group companies and other returns
- Supporting and developing high-performing teams and processes
We are looking for an inspirational leader who will drive improvements to create a ‘best in class’ finance function. You will be able to demonstrate relevant experience of financial strategy, budgeting and forecasting, reporting and compliance, gained within similarly complex organisations.
You will have exceptional communication skills which will allow you to support and influence the senior leadership team on all financial matters. You will also have a keen interest in digital technology, being instrumental in the delivery of the digital transformation.
