Katherine Low Settlement’s work with older people

Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception in 1924.They are a core part of the community that we continue to work with. We provide, often in partnership, a range of projects and activities for older people including health and wellbeing; creative arts; intergenerational work; connecting people and trips/outings. Our services include an Older People's Lunch Club, Contact Club, T’ai Chi for Elders, exercise and social sessions, and support online.

We work with older people to:

• Encourage active and independent living

• Reduce isolation and loneliness

• Improve well-being and prevent ill-health

• Enable older residents to be dynamic and contributing members of the Wandsworth community.

Key Responsibilities for the Elders Core Service Manager Role:

• Oversee daily operations of the Elders Core Service, including the lunch club, transport, social sessions, and activities.
• Lead a team of part-time staff and volunteers, including a cook, support worker, minibus driver, and sessional workers.
• Collaborate with the wider team to deliver a hands-on programme.
• Manage project monitoring, evaluation, and budget.
• Support programme planning with Elders members and the wider team.
• Recruit, assess, and support service users and manage waiting lists.

Main Duties:

1. Planning and Oversight:

   • Ensure service output aligns with KLS’ vision, mission, and strategy.
   • Organize and promote core activities and one-off events.
   • Manage transport logistics and maintain activity records.
   • Support elders’ social and support needs, including safeguarding.
   • Conduct outreach and support work, and oversee case work.

2. Staff and Volunteer Management:

   • Line manage core programme staff and volunteers.
   • Use performance management and quality systems.
   • Oversee individual volunteers in the core programme.

3. Relationships, Communications, and Networks:

   • Build and maintain strong relationships with members.
   • Oversee communications for the core programme.
   • Attend meetings on behalf of the programme.

4. Finance:

   • Manage the project areas to budget, and maintain basic financial records as agreed with the Head of the Programme – in this instance, this is usually a petty cash sheet.

5. Safeguarding:

   • Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies and procedures.

6. Other Duties:

   • Participate in supervision and appraisal, and identify training needs.
   • Maintain high standards of work and adhere to KLS values.

Skills and Experience:

• Experience working with older people in a community setting.
• Line management experience in a community setting.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong multi-tasking, time management, and IT skills (MS Office, Internet, email, social media, Salesforce preferred).
• Experience in project monitoring, evaluation, and safeguarding.
• Knowledge of Battersea and Wandsworth is advantageous.

Lead Music Therapist

Coram Parenting and Creative Therapy Service

Contract: Permanent, 28-35 hours days per week, 4-5 days per week

Location: Coram campus, London

Coram Parenting and Creative Therapy Service offers art, music and drama therapy, therapeutic parenting, clinical psychology and family therapy to children and families at our dedicated creative therapies centre and in schools.  We work primarily with adoptive and connected carer families, and children who have low level mental health difficulties.  We are a trauma-informed service and have specialist expertise in neuro-diversity and children with special education needs. The well-established team has a strong track record in therapeutic interventions, including music therapy, art therapy and narrative therapy based multi-family groups for younger children who are adopted or with a Special Guardianship Order.  We have a purpose built therapy building and have recently built a music studio for our adolescent work.  We work within very diverse communities and we consciously challenge ourselves and our practice, seeking at all times to be inclusive and anti-racist. About the role

We are seeking an experienced HCPC qualified Music Therapist to provide leadership, supervision and management of music therapists and other creative therapists in the service.  You will carry out therapeutic multi-disciplinary assessments and music therapy interventions with adopted and Special Guardianship Order families.  This work involves trauma informed approaches, family work and life story work.  The team is led by a Clinical Psychologist and provides creative, relational, and evidence based approaches, collaborating with wider networks and reaching schools and communities to inform child centred and trauma informed practice. The post holder will receive supervision by a highly qualified Music therapist, and be line managed by a Clinical Psychologist.   The post offers a unique opportunity to work alongside skilled creative and family therapists. We seek to empower children and families using strengths based narratives, as well as accepting vulnerability and seeking opportunity for connection, strengthening resilience and support. 

The successful candidate will be experienced at working with managing and supervising therapists, developmental trauma, and child and family work and operates with initiative and responsiveness in a dynamic professional environment.   A background in CAMHS and/or a social care services would be desirable, with a good understanding of safeguarding planning and managing highly emotive situations. Experience of running multi-family groups would be an advantage. This role requires a supportive professional, a team player, who enjoys working in a diverse, respectful and challenging team.

As a senior youth worker you will be part of the team at Carney’s community, involved in the running of the youth boxing sessions, youth club and bike workshop. The post will start before the lead youth worker is on maternity leave to allow you time to get to know the team, the young people and for effective handover when you will be given responsibility for overseeing the youth club and bike workshop sessions and work in partnership with the head coach to run the youth boxing sessions. You will also manage a small team of sessional youth workers.  About the role

We are seeking a versatile and experienced CAMHS nurse to work as part of our CAMHS Service to British Forces Cyprus. You will be responsible for providing a child and adolescence mental health service to individuals and families by providing a range of clinical interventions to children and young people across British Forces Cyprus (BFC) who are struggling with their mental health and require specialist support from mental health services.

You will work autonomously and carry a clinical caseload of service users requiring CAMHS intervention, utilising age-appropriate interventions in line with NICE Guidelines.

There are 3 SSAFA locality Community Health teams in Cyprus, each team is led by a Locality Team Leader; the teams consist of Midwives, Health Visitors, School Nurses, Community Children’s Nurses, CAMHS, Dietitian and Speech and Language Therapists. The Community Health Service is supported by a Child Consultant Psychiatrist and a Community Paediatrician who provide a peripatetic visiting service from the UK.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse, with relevant post qualification experience. Experience of work within a military environment would be an advantage. You will have a good working knowledge and understanding of safeguarding, with the opportunity to facilitate safeguarding training and participate in Family and Children in Need Supervision.

The housing advocate will carry a caseload of survivors that require additional support. They will work closely with survivors of domestic abuse from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy around housing needs.They will empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical and individual safety support. They will ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options.

Co-located housing advocacy is another form of community-based specialist domestic abuse advocacy support that focuses on victim/survivors’ self-identified needs, rather than needs defined by the service and any pre-defined actions the agency thinks victim/survivors should take. The work is undertaken with the victim/survivor around their individual needs and for a period dictated by need, not targets.

We are currently seeking a Team Lead to head up the delivery of support services for carers across the Southend Borough.  Working 37 hours per week with remote working with the flexibility to work from home and community venues in Southend. 

Tasks will encompass: managing the Carer Support Advisers within the team, providing personalised information and advice to carers, working with carers using a strength-based approach to identify their needs and plan support as required and building effective relationships and partnerships with commissioners, other organisations, partners and key stakeholders to create better outcomes for carers.

As well as being a Line-manager, you will be part of the ‘Senior Leadership Team’ led by the CEO. The post-holder will have experience of overseeing, developing and evaluating services for Carers, or perhaps mental health, wellbeing, or similarly targeted information, advice or support services or projects. You must demonstrate experience working in partnership with health, social care and other voluntary sector organisations and have a good understanding of, and be flexible to, the needs of Carers as well as the organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to contribute to increasing and improving emotional and mental health provision within education settings for 5–18-yearolds, young adults (15 - 18), families, and other professionals within the London Boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham.

The "Be Kind to Your Mind (BK2YM)" service provides evidence-based mental health support to school- and college-aged Children and Young People, staff, young adults, families, and other professionals within the London Boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham.

Be Kind to Your Mind (BK2YM) is a non-clinical, mental health and wellbeing offer delivered by HFEH MIND Youth Services. BK2YM’s non-clinical interventions and psychoeducation programme (Learn Well) offers a multitiered level of support:

• Preventative and early intervention for children and young people aged 5 – 25 through HFEH Mind Psychoeducation Workshops and assemblies.
• Training for school staff and other professionals.
• Therapeutic Arts intervention (x6 sessions) for students.
• Access to a digital support tool (self-help): WYSA.
• Access to wider digital/online support tolls (Including My Mind TV).

Key Responsibilities

• Delivery of Be Kind to Your Mind interventions across schools, colleagues and alternative education.
• Delivering whole school/year group assemblies and ‘drop-down days’ to educational establishments within the defined area(s) of operation.
• Facilitation with targeted outreach to H&F SENCO's/AP's, adapting content for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in collaboration with Educational Psychologists.
• Ad-hoc creation of bespoke content to complement existing materials.
• Creation and delivery of education staff workshops based on provided training needs assessment form submissions.
• Outreach to schools/organisations, maintenance of Learn Well bookings.
• Maintaining rapport with education/community youth provisions to ensure continuation of delivery across the academic year.
• Co-ordination of targeted outreach/promotion on universal days related to Children and Young People’s Mental Health and issues impacting their mental health and wellbeing generally. (E.g. world mental health day, stress awareness week etc.)
• Evaluation and Impact Reporting:
  • Composition of internal, bi-borough, and education/youth settings impact reporting.
  • Support data analysis for routine reporting, service evaluation, research, and improvement.
  • Completing pre-and post-evaluation of interventions to ensure delivery is reviewed and meeting objectives. 

Person Specification

Knowledge and Experience

• An undergraduate Psychology degree (or equivalent) that confers British Psychological Society’s Graduate Basis for Chartered membership (GBC).
• Understanding of the impact of social inequalities and how this relates to mental health.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of the key socioeconomic and systemic factors that contribute to poor mental health of children, young people, and parents/carers from Black, Asian, and other Ethnic Minority groups.
• Understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality.
• Experience of literature reviews, data collection, and analysis.
• Knowledge of mental health and/or social care services.
