About: In response to emerging needs and the implementation of the Diocesan Property Strategy, the Diocese of Salford is looking to appoint an experienced individual to support and develop Grant and Bid Writing within the diocese. Staff work over several sites, including Bradford Royal Infirmary, which provides the majority of inpatient services, and St Luke's Hospital, which predominantly provides outpatient and rehabilitation services.

The Role

You will be joining the Charity at an exciting time as they work towards the plan to become a fully independent Charity by 2025. You will be responsible for overseeing an ambitious fundraising strategy as well as leading the capital appeal to expand the neonatal unit.

A key element of this role will be to identify new opportunities to grow and develop new income streams, providing team leadership to Charity team and their activities to build the fundraising and grant-making capacity.

As Charity Director you will play a key role in developing new strategies and diversifying income streams as well as working closely with the Chair of the Charity to a devise a brand-new five-year plan for the Charity.

About you

You must have had significant experience of leading a small or medium sized charity or have been a senior manager within a larger charity, including demonstrable experience in leading successful change management and service developments as well as be able to demonstrate that you have successfully worked towards targets. Capital appeal experience would also be advantageous. You also need experience of devising and implementing a strategic fundraising plan.

The Job

The welfare of our dogs is very important to us. We have a no-kennel policy, and all our dogs live in the homes of volunteer puppy Socialisers until they are about 18 months old.  We are committed to providing quality training and support for all our dogs and the volunteers who look after them.

This role requires someone with the skills, experience, and passion to take responsibility for organising and monitoring the Assistance dog training team. The successful candidate will ensure that the team of Assistance Dog Trainers develop our puppies and young dogs to ensure they receive the highest standard of socialisation and training, thereby maximising their chances of becoming a Medical Alert Assistance Dog. They will also play a role in the training and development of less experienced members of the team.

Reports to: Head of Canine Supply, Training and Welfare

Specific Responsibilities

• To oversee the day-to-day activities of the Assistance Dog Trainers, carrying out 121’s, annual reviews, etc.
• To oversee the preparation of and to deliver in accordance with the dog pick-up schedule for the MAAD programme
• To support puppies or young dogs when required
• To carry out the 6-month, 12-month, and final assessments of dogs
• Assist with the training and development of Trainee Assistance Dog Trainers and less experienced Trainers which may include acting as a mentor
• To liaise with the Health and Welfare Coordinator on any health issues regarding puppies and dogs within the Assistance Dog Training Scheme
• Support the Assistance Dog Trainers with potential matches for a particular client or clients and dog, and to report this progress regularly in Dog and Client matching meetings
• Highlight to the Head of Canine Supply, Training and Welfare in a timely manner, if you feel a dog is not reaching the appropriate standard or may be more suitable for another role. Detailed evidenced reasons why, must be supplied
• If and when required, to stay away from home, supporting Assistance Dog Trainers with their puppies and volunteers who are based in our regional areas
• To liaise with the Dog Supply Advisor on puppy intake
• To oversee the rehoming of withdrawn puppies and dogs from the Socialising Scheme

Socialiser Recruitment

• To monitor and when necessary, highlight to the Head of Canine Supply, Training and Welfare a shortage of Puppy Socialisers.
• Assist in the recruitment of new volunteer Socialisers

Other

• To support the Head of Canine Supply, Training and Welfare with the annual Trustee reports
• Update the Harlequin CRM database in a timely fashion to ensure accurate and up to date training, veterinary and health records
• Support the charity’s fundraising, communications and volunteering teams as required, specifically in relation to your area
• From time to time, you may be required to have a dog live with you for additional training for a set period
• Share best practice with colleagues across the charity

About the Role

Since the World Congress of Soil Science, which we hosted in Glasgow in 2022, the British Society of Soil Science (BSSS) is becoming increasingly recognised as the go-to organisation for evidence relating to soil.

This new post will deliver the Society’s activities around our policy work; producing draft guidance notes and consultation responses for our committees to comment on, working with policymakers and stakeholders to raise awareness of our members’ collective evidence-base and best practice knowledge.

You will work closely with the Executive Director to understand the Society’s priorities and support the delivery of our strategy by developing relevant guidance and policy projects, whilst horizon scanning to seek opportunities for the Society to have influence externally.

About the Role

You will work with Westminster rough sleeping services, including street outreach and assessment hubs, to identify clients who wish to return and are suitable to be referred into the service. This will include participating in weekly late night/early morning street outreach shifts.

 

You will assess referrals to ensure prospective clients meet Acasă eligibility criteria, then help them to prepare to reconnect. This will include gathering necessary documentation, making travel arrangements, engaging with consular services and in some instances traveling to the airport.

On occasion you may also link clients up with services that could support them in Romania. You will work with a high degree of autonomy towards delivering outcomes for clients, being flexible in your approach and tailoring the service to individual client’s needs and aspirations.

Tempo stands at the forefront having engaged with 40 commissioned programmes, collaborated with 1,500 charities, empowered over 15,000 volunteers, issued over 1 million Time Credits, cultivated 750+ business venues offering rewards, and pioneered the world's first national Time Credit network.

Funded by Heritage Lottery, the project you'll work on focuses on working with heritage organisations across Neath Port Talbot to increase the number and diversity of their volunteers and to recruit and retain them in a sustainable way.

Key responsibilities:

• Building and Maintaining Relationships: You will build and maintain relationships that support Tempo objectives, seek to understand stakeholder requirements, and support organisations face to face providing advice and guidance around Time Credits.
• Communicating & Influencing: communicate openly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders, create local social media content and newsletters, persuade others using evidence-based knowledge.
• Volunteer Management: You will manage a team of local volunteers in each locality that provide on the ground support and add capacity in the local community.

The successful candidate will be able to work with senior executives and Government officials, plan and juggle multiple projects at once, and have knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office. You will have strong account management skills and have experience of managing or working with volunteers. You will be experienced in working within a role with a varied, demanding workload with the ability to adapt to change, deliver results, and work independently, as well as part of a team. How we recruit

We want to ensure all systems, policies and processes are free from bias or discrimination and are fair and accessible, therefore we ask that all candidates complete our Application Process in two stages:

Part 1 (Application Form) is all about you telling us about your suitability for the role and will be used to determine if you are shortlisted for interview.

Part 2 (Equal Opportunities Monitoring and Contact Form) is personal information – so we can contact you if you are shortlisted for the interview. It also helps us gather and analyse demographic information about our applicants. This part will only be seen by HR and will not have any impact on shortlisting.

Application forms are formatted to ensure the equality monitoring data is removed before applications are seen by the shortlisting panel. This process allows us to ensure that the shortlisting is done in a fair and consistent manner and all applicants are given the same opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.
