Yeldall Manor is a Christian recovery centre for men wanting to overcome their addiction problems. We have created this new part-time position to provide consistent and professional HR support to the organisation, bringing together various roles currently undertaken by a few different staff members.
The role will suit someone who can work under their own initiative (after training in our charity practices), experienced in overseeing the employee journey from recruitment and retention to departure. You will act as the first point of contact for HR-related queries, and ensure that the charity is compliant with all relevant legislation. This will involve dealing with all employment matters, building robust policies & procedures, and implementation across the organisation. You would also be responsible for preparing the staff rota and all related administration. We do not currently have HR software, so reviewing our requirements in this area would be one of your responsibilities. Please see the job description for full information about this varied post.
As a small charity (c. 35 staff including part-time and casual workers), the role will require balancing practical and administrative tasks with management responsibilities. We anticipate that you'll be based in the office for at least two days out of the three days/24 hours worked per week. This is in a lovely rural setting near Twyford (Reading) and, being situated within the rehabilitation centre, you will have daily contact with those men whom you are ultimately helping. They inspire and motivate us just as much as we seek to encourage and support them.
As this is a strategic post within an actively Christian setting, applications should be from committed Christians. Schedule 9, Part 1:3(a) of the Equality Act 2010 applies.
Yeldall wants all those affected by addiction to heal, transform and thrive.

Following a merger between St Barnabas Hospices (incorporating St Barnabas House and Chestnut Tree House) and Martlets, we are now the largest group of hospices in Sussex and one of the largest in the UK. We are committed to providing exceptional and compassionate care to adults, children and their families across Sussex.
As part of our plans, we have undertaken a strategic restructure of the Fundraising and Communications teams and are recruiting to a number of new roles. These roles work across all three hospices and will play a fundamental part as we build and develop our new team.
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Legacy and In Memory Stewardship Manager to lead and grow our Legacy giving and In Memory donor programmes. Following the merger of three hospices, this newly created role will play a vital role in securing the future of hospice care through legacy and In memory income.
This is an exciting opportunity for a driven, innovative and open-minded individual to be a part of, and set the direction of, a ground-breaking collaboration for hospices across Sussex and South-East Hampshire.
Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, the post holder will work to support Legacy and In Memory fundraising across the three hospice sites.

The Centre for Justice Innovation seeks to build a justice system which all of its citizens believe is fair and effective. We provide hands on support to front-line practitioners, conduct research into how things work, and could work better, and promote evidence-based policy solutions.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic intern to support the work of the Centre’s Women In Justice Programme. The position is full-time for a fixed period of four months starting in September 2024 and pays the London Living Wage. Travel costs will also be reimbursed.
What will I be doing?
Evidence review
One of the primary roles you will undertake is a review of the existing evidence base around the profile and vulnerabilities of women engaged in the criminal justice system. This review will seek to synthesise evidence about both the prevalence of vulnerabilities of justice involved women and the mechanisms between those vulnerabilities and their offending. Findings from this evidence review will be key in supporting the development of messaging for policy makers, as well as contributing to the milestones below.
Analyse data to extract meaningful insights around the complex needs of women who come to court.
Our previous research into the vulnerabilities and unmet needs of people who come to court, and people’s experiences of the court process, all suggest that we must do much better to make the court process fairer. This is especially the case for women, who often have disproportionately high complex needs, and who often also have contact with the child protection system. This work will bring together evidence on the needs of women who come to court, in part by exploiting existing Community Advice service data to identify the number and profile of women attending court with support issues, as well as developing case studies. The evidence review will also play a core role in developing a picture of the evidence around the needs of women coming to court.
Contribute to the delivery of Women in Justice policy and practice priorities:
You will also support the delivery of our strategic aims in this area, in part through the findings of the evidence review. In particular, you will work with others to deliver the following milestones:
-
Analyse findings from recent fieldwork to develop recommendations to promote long-lasting change for community support for women with substance use disorders. Findings from the evidence review will ensure the recommendations are concrete and practical for policymakers, local authority commissioners and service providers.
-
Support the event management of a workshop convening practitioners working in, and interested in working in, problem-solving courts for women. Findings from the evidence review will be shared within the workshops to stimulate and inform discussions.
-
Promote the evidence for the use of problem-solving courts for women with policymakers. Summary findings from the evidence review will support the development of messaging for policy makers.
Development and engagement
Beyond these milestones, you will also support the development of the Centre’s Women in Justice programme, helping us develop our capacity to articulate the links between our work on women in contact with the criminal justice system and other relevant areas of work including family justice, women’s substance use and violence against women and girls. This work may involve working on the development of funding bids and supporting the Women in Justice area of focus leads in their work and stakeholder engagement. You will also attend any relevant events and parliamentary meetings that happen during this time, such as APPGs and VAWG conferences.
Support across the research team
In addition to working on the evidence review, you will support other members of the research team with research activities as required. This might include activities such co-facilitating interviews, coding transcripts, and holding an online workshop with participants.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

FARA exists to tackle poverty, and transform lives. This incredible organisation transforms the lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children, and young people living in Romania, giving them a sense of family. Do you want to join the team that provides a family for those without?
FARA is looking to launch the charity's new individual giving fundraising activities programme and is looking for an innovative, personable and collaborative individual to lead the creation and launch of this exciting area of development.
The Role
It is a hugely exciting time for the charity as it embarks on this new chapter! This role presents a once-in-a-career opportunity to build on the charity’s outstanding track-record of trading income-generation and optimise charity-shop customer loyalty by building FARA’s first individual giving programme. Your talent will be a fabulous addition to a highly experienced marketing team with ambitious plans to transform the charity’s communications, and you will work alongside colleagues across the whole organisation to deliver this work.
The Fundraising and Individual Giving Manager will be responsible for:
- Creating systems, structures, activities and messages designed to launch and grow income streams, predominantly from individual givers and community
- Using data to inform Individual Giving campaigns, creating powerful messaging to acquire, retain and upgrade donors through digital and offline methods.
- Creating and implementing methods of attracting and retaining people and community partners to donate and fundraise
- Identifying and optimising any emerging and new fundraising opportunities to help grow income for the organisation
The Person
Are you entrepreneurial, innovative, personable, and collaborative, with the knowledge and passion to develop and deliver a fundraising programme? Are you keen to get your teeth into a new challenge and create something from scratch, albeit based on the foundation of an outstanding trading customer database.
The role requires a candidate with a strong background in building relationships and someone who is able to identify and develop new fundraising messages, campaigns and activities.
The role presents a hugely exciting opportunity to create, test and learn and we are looking for someone with the skills to diversify income sources at FARA, utilising the extensive network of supporters it has gained through its 40 charity shops across London.
The post-holder will need the skills to develop engaging, creative content and be excited by the prospect of pursuing new opportunities for the organisation to engage with existing supporters—many of whom might only have ‘gifted’ the charity via donations of pre-loved clothes and other items to FARA shops.
Why FARA
FARA funds, develops, and manages social support services across Romania for vulnerable children, children with learning disabilities and complex needs, youth at risk, adults with learning dis-abilities, and community-based programmes, tackling poverty through education for Romania’s poorest families. FARA, established in 1991 following the fall of communism, has grown to be one of the biggest and most established NGO’s in Romania, working to building a stronger future for Romania.
This is an exciting new role for the organisation and a wonderful opportunity for the right individual to shape an emerging fundraising programme. You will be joining a relatively new marketing team that is working to build and develop this wider function for FARA to support the shops' net-work and fundraising work. Working with an innovative and creative team, you will be well-supported to test, learn, and apply to achieve success.
The role is permanent and full-time (although reduced hours will be considered), and offers the opportunity to work flexibly from the offices in Teddington and Angel, and from home. Please note the role will also require flexibility to travel between FARA’s shops to build relationships with staff and volunteers (travel will definitely be paid).
If you think you could be the right person to fulfil the exciting opportunities presented by this role, apply here, or get in contact Charlie or Leanne at Charity Horizons for more information.
Please note: If you would like to submit an application or express your interest in an alternative format such as audio or video upload, or require any adaptations for your initial engagement with us, please contact either Charlie or Leanne who will be happy to advise on this.
Please also be aware that we use anonymous recruitment methods when submitting shortlists for all our roles and we only work with organisations that are happy to engage with us in this way.
Charity Horizons is an equal opportunities employer and as such actively promotes equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We welcome and encourage applications from all suitable candidates irrespective of age, disability, hidden disability, race or national origin, religion or belief, gender, gender expression, political view, sexual orientation, medical condition and pregnancy.
