Every three minutes someone in the UK develops dementia: a progressive and complex condition that can be devastating for the whole family. One in two of us will be affected by dementia in our lifetime – either by caring for someone with the condition, developing it ourselves, or both.

Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nursing charity that is there for the whole family. Our specialist nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide free, expert advice, support and understanding to help families care for their loved one. Every day, Admiral Nurses help families up and down the country to have the best life possible, for as long as possible.

Purpose of the job/about the role

Dementia UK has entered into an exciting three-year corporate partnership with a national partner to bring face-to-face Admiral Nursing to the high street at locations across the UK.

You will be working within a defined area within one of the following regions, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, England (Northern, Central, South-West, South-East, and London).

As part of the national Clinics Programme Team, you will provide in-person biopsychosocial support and advice, sharing your specialist dementia nursing expertise to help families manage the complexities of the condition. Your focus will be on supporting family carers, people affected by dementia, and professionals who require specialist dementia guidance in areas of the UK where Admiral Nurse services are currently unavailable, bringing a much-needed service directly to local communities. Throughout your work, you will consistently promote Admiral Nursing and a family-centred approach to dementia care.

You will receive full support with your continuous professional development from the Admiral Nurse Academy.

As this unique nursing role offers you the opportunity to travel within your defined region, which may include some overnight stays, flexibility will be essential. When not delivering face-to-face clinics, you will work from home, which may include providing support on our Admiral Nurse Helpline.

We support families across London, Surrey and Sussex whose children are facing cancer or a life-challenging condition. We’re there whatever the outcome, for as long as needed, so that no family has to cope alone.

Position: Corporate Fundraiser

 Main Purpose of the Role

Momentum Children’s Charity’s fundraising team is highly ambitious, driven by our goal to help families of seriously ill children in London, Surrey and Sussex to keep moving forward. Corporate income currently comprises circa 18% of the overall income. But with our expansion in hospital partnership geography, and aspiration to provide support to more families in the future, the expansion of this income stream will be key to this growth.

Working with the Corporate Partnerships Lead, this person will enjoy helping to develop all facets of the corporate fundraising area, working with and forging relationships with businesses to develop opportunities, fundraising and charitable giving, provide outstanding stewardship and relationship management, as well as helping to research and grow a healthy, robust pipeline of new opportunities.

Mental Health Support Worker

The Role

The Mental Health Support Worker will provide flexible, practical, holistic, and accessible support to Gypsies and Travellers across West Yorkshire to improve and promote mental wellbeing. The provision will be based on the organisation’s values including helping people to help themselves and the organisation believes everyone is equal and can be included. 

You will be part of a small and dedicated mental health team at the organisation, contributing to its effective running through outreach and good communication with colleagues and members.  You will be working in partnership with other agencies in the field of mental health, the post holder will work to ensure increased accessibility to mental health support services, reflecting on and implementing best practices. The post holder will work within an agreed monitoring framework for the service and for the organisation.

About You

As Mental Health Support Worker you will need to live and breathe the charity’s values through your work and have the following experience/skills:

• Case management experience including managing referrals and case load to agreed targets and timescales
• Experience of working with people experiencing enduring mental health issues, mental distress and complex needs

The charity is currently conducting a four-day working week trial, due to end on 30th September 2024. This means that, for example, staff previously working 37.5 hours a week are now working 30 hours a week to enable a four-day working week. About this role:

This is a new and exciting opportunity for a Philanthropy Assistant to join the Charity team here at Alder Hey, the UK’s busiest Children’s Hospital. The postholder will work closely with the Philanthropy Support Lead to provide operational support and administration for the team, including events, donor meetings and visits, prospect research, data and use of the charity CRM (Salesforce).
