We are looking for a Public Affairs and Campaigns Officer to join the Royal British Legion’s London-based team. This role will see you help to shape and carry out RBL’s public affairs and campaigning activities at a national level, and to devise and deliver our political engagement events and campaigning work in Westminster.

- Devising and delivering a bespoke engagement programme for MPs and their staff
- External and internal team communications, including social media, team website and intranet content, responses to enquiries from the public.
- Monitoring and researching Parliamentary developments, consultations and legislation of interest to RBL and producing briefings for senior colleagues across the organisation on relevant issues
- Developing and maintaining good working relationships with key Parliamentarians and their staff, as well as partner organisations key to the successful delivery of RBL’s campaigns and engagement events programme

About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an amazing fundraiser to join our Church and Christian Engagement team. The heart of our work centres around engaging and inspiring Churches and Christians to join us- through regular giving, one off donations, action and prayer. You will join a team working across various fundraising and engagement activities throughout the year. You will build and manage your own caseload of external relationships across the UK, combining face-to-face, online and telephone work, to connect with churches and individuals. Key areas of responsibility include:
- Confidently building connections with churches and their leaders towards engaging with World Vision’s work, creating opportunities for individual giving or gifts from the church community.
- Using existing resources, campaigns and engagement tools to engage churches and individual Christians to support our work.
- Build a caseload of engaged church contacts to meet or exceed annual fundraising & acquisition goals, managing your time & workload.
- Ensure churches are on the correct supporter journey for their level of engagement, using appropriate touchpoints (telephone, email, meetings, hand written notes etc) to intelligently engage with key contacts. Maintenance of records, use of CRM system, monthly reporting on income and financial management including making sure gifts are properly allocated.
- Sharing WV’s work through in an audience appropriate way, including (but not limited to) presentations to church leaders, speaking in church services, or other external opportunities. Making a clear and compelling ask.
- Attending events (online and in person) to connect with individuals and leaders as a member of the WV team.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent attention to detail and be able to juggle multiple projects/pieces of information and form them into well-ordered activity plans and be able to prioritise.

- Superb communication skills, both in formal and informal settings
- Fundraising or sales experience
- Strong relational skills, potentially with experience in nurturing relationships towards financial engagement

The Role
What will I be doing?
- Provide key support to the Governance, Audit & Risk Manager on the IOP’s governance programme, including the organisation of Council Meetings and Core Governance Committee meetings, and the distribution of agendas and papers on the IOP’s Board Portal
- Be a key point of contact for the IOP’s Trustees and Committee Members, providing support and maintaining trustee information
- Support with the IOP’s annual Council Elections and AGM
- Support with the smooth running of the Group Internal Audit Programme
- Support the Compliance & Data Protection Manager with managing compliance with key policies and procedures.
Projects you work on may include:
- Quarterly Council and Committee Meetings, including one Council meeting held elsewhere in the UK
- Preparation or the IOP’s Annual Council Elections Process, whereby new trustees are elected by the IOP membership each year
- Helping with the IOP’s Annual General Meeting, including the preparation of the member notice and voting materials and ensuring the event runs smoothly on the day
- Five Internal Audits per year, determined by the Group Audit & Risk Committee

This global role will support our Church-focused work, as part of Tearfund's 'Crisis to Resilience' (C2R) corporate priority, and will play a special role in coordinating and supporting projects which cut across a number of teams.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role will combine three core elements: (1) ensuring coordination of SteelWatch communications activities, across all our multiple initiatives and timezones, ensuring great content, targeted reach, timeliness, coherence of message and coordinated plans; (2) ongoing and surge delivery of comms products and messages, such as media outreach, social media, thought pieces, particularly in Europe/Africa and sometimes US timezone. This will align with delivery of comms work in Japan/Asia led by colleagues in the region. (3) sharpening our communications strategy, our targets, and our ability to deliver our messages to the right people, shaped jointly with our Asia/Pacific based comms strategist.
The role requires coordination across the small and growing comms team, which is diverse in terms of experience level, region and expertise. It also requires hands-on delivery in your region/timezone and based on your own specialist skills. Media engagement is currently a gap we need to fill and an ideal candidate will lead and deliver our media work, as well as coordinating our wider comms. If the successful candidate excels in other strengths but not media, then we - and you - will need to build the team differently in terms of future recruits and consultants.
