We are seeking an experienced, confident, and proactive person to join our team. About this role

Following the significant development of EduSpots’ income and activities in the last year, we are looking for an experienced finance and operations professional to provide exceptional support to the Chief Executive Officer, Head of Development, and Head of Operations (Ghana-based) to ensure the development of robust financial and operational systems, policies and processes. 

The candidate can work from any location, but will have a strong knowledge of UK law and charity accounting in an international development charity context. You will be a self-starter, able to work independently on tasks assigned, whilst proactively suggesting improvements to our systems, policies and wider strategic development. 

We are looking for a team player with a genuine desire to contribute to greater educational equity, with a strong personal alignment to our organizational values of teamwork, care, play, passion, community leadership and sustainable impact. 

Main duties and responsibilities 

• Work with the UK Finance Officer (volunteer) and Ghana based Finance Manager and Head of Operations to oversee global finances, so that consolidated management accounts and donor financial reports can be produced.
• Support with the roll-out of new accounting software and reviewing intercompany financial processes to ensure accountability and compliance with recognised accounting standards.
• Support with bank account management and reviewing funds transfers.
• In future, possibly manage staff payroll, including tax and pension contributions.
• Oversee the onboarding and screening of new staff, contractors or volunteers in the UK and other locations outside Ghana, including reference checks, criminal records checks, preparing contracts, etc.
• Review and keep organisational policies and procedures (including staff handbook) up to date, staying abreast of any changes in the wider external legal and operating environment. 
• Monitor compliance to organizational policies and escalate compliance and operational risks to the CEO. 
• Monitor and renew insurance cover.
• Support with other tasks related to finance and operations as time permits.

• Qualification in accounting, or working towards one.

About Us

Founded in 2012 we are a UK charity that provide support, advice and information to patients and their loved ones who are affected by cancers of the head, mouth, neck, chest, and those throat cancers caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). We also campaign for universal HPV vaccination to prevent any future devastating throat cancer cases. Raising awareness of HPV and how it causes throat cancers has been and continues to be a large part of our work.

About the role

The successful applicant will work closely with the CEO, the management team, and Trustees to implement, develop and deliver a fundraising strategy that meets the charity’s challenging income targets. This post will play a vital role in helping us to deliver our range of throat cancer support programmes to patients, families, as well as to medical professionals and the scientific research sectors. Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) is a long-term (chronic), fluctuating, neurological disease that causes symptoms affecting many body systems, more commonly the nervous and immune systems. M.E. affects an estimated 250,000 people in the UK, and around 17 million people worldwide.

Action for M.E. is the only charity in the UK providing direct support to children and adults with M.E. We provide vital support services, campaign for change and invest in ground-breaking research to help put an end to the ignorance, injustice and neglect experienced by people with M.E. 

We are looking for an empathic and resilient individual to join a friendly and well-established team of part-time, remote-based Information and Support Officers, on a 12-month contract. The purpose of this role is to provide a holistic, client-centred, effective and efficient Information and Support Service to people affected by M.E. We do this primarily via outgoing calls made in response to triaged voicemail messages, and also via email.

You can choose to be home-based anywhere in the UK, work from our Bristol office, or a hybrid of the two.

Our Information and Support Service team has a deep understanding of the issues affecting people with M.E. and their family and carers. Some of our clients come to us in considerable distress so this work isn’t always easy, but it can be incredibly rewarding and is valued by our clients and the wider organisation.

You will need experience of working in a service providing information, advice, support or advocacy by telephone and email (or proven transferable skills). You will be experienced and confident at working with people in distress, and identifying and escalating safeguarding concerns, with the courage and emotional resilience to set and maintain realistic boundaries.

About The Role

If you’re a motivated Solutions Architect or a junior Enterprise Architect looking to enhance your skills and support us in shaping the technology landscape of our Society, then this is the role for you. 

Reporting to our Head of IT and working closely with the Technology & Infrastructure Senior Leadership Team and the wider department, you will engage with various stakeholders and departments to understand the business objectives, develop architecture plans and ensure alignment with our information technology strategy to achieve our Society goals. 
 
Essentially you will review the current system used by teams and assess whether the current processes are suitable for the business needs. You will make strong and compelling recommendations on how best we can optimize in using more ground-breaking systems and tools in achieving the Society's goals.

Your responsibilities will also include:

- Assist in selecting the strategic Enterprise Architecture tooling;
- Manage and govern the Society’s Enterprise Architecture repositories;
- Develop & deliver Enterprise and Solution Architectures;
- Provide technical knowledge to the Technical Design Authority;
- Collaborate with other stakeholders to support the delivery of high-quality technology solutions;
- Promote an architecture culture and awareness across project deliveries.

About you

We’re looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

- Knowledge of business ecosystems, Cloud technologies and IT infrastructure, as well as Information Management practices, Agile & Lean methodologies, EA & ITIL frameworks, and IT Services management;
- Experience of developing solution designs in line with business needs;
- Strong leadership, problem-solving and critical thinking skills;
- Demonstrable experience of Microsoft365, MS Power Platform, Azure platform, networking, Identity and authentication, Windows Operating Systems, end user computing solutions and endpoint management, as well as collaboration tools;
- Familiarity with cloud-based CRM platforms such as Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics365;
- TOGAF 9 certification or equivalent demonstrable experience with an architecture framework and development method.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Corporate Partnerships Officer to join our small but mighty Partnerships and Philanthropy fundraising team. 

The team is made up of seven fundraisers focusing on securing high-value gifts with big impact, both from companies and from trusts and foundations. 

Right now, public awareness of bowel cancer is growing rapidly, making it an exciting time to join us. If you’re interested in playing a part in helping us reach even more people, and motivated to improve the lives of bowel cancer patients, we want to hear from you.

Our perfect candidate will ideally have previous experience in corporate fundraising and confidence in growing and managing a diverse fundraising portfolio. You’ll be a proactive self-starter with creative flair who has strong attention to detail and excellent new business, account management, relationship building, pitching and writing skills.

In this job, you’ll work closely with the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager and wider corporate partnerships team to drive forward new business by seeking and securing innovative new partnerships with high-value companies. You’ll also deliver excellent account management by providing our partners with an inspiring supporter experience. Your portfolio may include large Charity-of-the-Year collaborations, nationwide campaign-based partnerships, multi-year partnerships with pharmaceutical companies and sponsorship and Cause Related Marketing (CRM) opportunities.

You'll be joining us at the start of our ambitious and exciting journey, to win more of and grow our strategic, high-value partnerships. You’ll be instrumental in helping our team to reach our ambitious fundraising targets and ultimately improving the lives of everyone affected by bowel cancer.
