We’re looking for one Support Group Volunteer over the age of 18 years old, based at The Pelham, Holliers Hill, Bexhill on Sea, East Sussex, TN40 2DD, but some volunteering can be done remotely.
You’ll be volunteering on occasional Fridays, with additional time for administration work.
As a support group volunteer, you will help with the running of the group. The role is designed to suit the needs of the group, and the skills of people offering support. If you enjoy getting to know your community, working with others and making a real difference then this is the role for you.
The volunteer will be
· A people person, with good listening skills
· A great communicator who enjoys meeting new people
· Good at putting people at ease
· Reliable and organised
· Passionate about supporting people affected by stroke
· IT literate, have good administrative and record keeping skills and be able to follow relevant policies

At WWT London Wetland Centre we want to ensure that our visitors receive a warm, friendly welcome to ensure they have a memorable visit. As a Guide in a Hide primarily in our Headley Hide, you will be the point of contact in engaging visitors of all ages and backgrounds, using your good knowledge to point out birds and wildlife of key interest and providing identification tips.
You’ll need to be equally at ease interacting with groups of children and families as you are talking to adult birders and photographers, inspiring everyone to support us as members of the WWT. You’ll also let us know of any new sightings and help us by undertaking some basic tasks to keep the hides presentable for our visitors.
This role involves:
- Providing a warm welcome to all visitors who come to the hides.
- Helping visitors locate and observe birds of interest birds and learn how to bird-watch: showing how to use the scopes and binoculars, and how to look for and distinguish bird features.
- Attending briefing sessions and familiarising yourself with events, activities, sightings and developments at the centre so that you can provide up-to-date information to our visitors and promote forthcoming events and activities
- Recording notable sightings on the Hide sightings board (or encourage visitors do it as part of an interactive experience) and notify the Reserve team or Duty Manager where appropriate.
- Helping keep a tidy hide (basic housekeeping - sweeping, litter-picking, wipe sills/seats, dust rafters to remove cobwebs) and report any damages.
- Topping up bird feeders as needed in the Headley Hide.
- Seasonally, being in cold spaces for periods of time, for which we will provide warm uniform, including coats.
This role will suit you if:
You have a positive, friendly, warm and friendly manner, are a good communicator and are committed to delivering excellent customer service to a wide variety of visitors, especially our younger and first-time visitors. You’ll have a real interest in and enthusiasm for WWT’s work, nature and the outdoors and can share this with others of all ages. You’ll have a good knowledge of UK bird species and other wetland wildlife to answer visitor questions, and be confident at using bird watching optical equipment, assisting visitors in doing so. Having your own telescope and binoculars would be useful, but is not essential.
You’ll be happy to undertake some basic maintenance and cleaning tasks to help maintain our high standards across the site. While we are close-working team, the ability to work flexibly in a team of staff and volunteers, and under your own initiative is also needed.

As the Group Coordinator, you will play a vital role in organizing and coordinating various activities and initiatives of the group. Role Description
The Support Volunteer is part of the volunteering team of Say Aphasia. Alongside the Peer
Leader and Helping Hands Volunteer, the Support Volunteer supports individual Say Aphasia
meet-ups. The role specifically focuses on supporting the peer leader in roles that are easier
for someone without language impairment.
Roles
● Provide a safe, inclusive and accessible environment.
● Adhere to Say Aphasia’s policies and procedures.
● Responsible for group admin, alongside the Peer Leader:
○ Ensure group checklist is completed and implemented, during support group
meet-up.
○ Ensure the attendance forms are completed at every meet-up.
○ Ensure the member forms are completed for new members.
○ Ensure the visitor forms are completed for any visitors.
○ Give ‘Welcome Packs’ to new members.
○ Ensure members are contacted if group plans change, and inform the Charity
Coordinator.
● Responsible for gathering members' information using Say Aphasia’s digital
Forms alongside the Peer Leader.
○ Ensure contact details and emergency contact details are gathered and up to
date.

available.
● Provide communication support for members during the support group:
○ Support members to have a successful conversation.

We need friendly volunteers to help our event team to ensure that our Lovelight concerts run smoothly. Come along and join us for an evening of music and candlelight. All funds raised from our concerts will go towards our vital support services which exist to give help, hope and a voice to all those affected by cancer.
What will I be doing?

Lighting audience candles for moments of reflection during the concert
Bucket collecting
Tidying and packing away at the end of the event
Directing attendees and helping them take their seats

How much time do I need to commit?
The date of the concert is 2th December 2024, at St Asaph Cathedral, Saint Asaph. On the day of the concert, we would require volunteers to arrive around 5.30pm and stay until approximately 9.30/10pm.

You will be provided with an event brief prior to the concert and you will be supported by the events team on the day and joined by fellow volunteers.

The Role
Acorns have a network of shops across the West Midlands that generate a substantial level of income to enable us to care for children and their families. Our empowered Replenishment and Merchandising Volunteers support the team by replenishing stock on the shop floor and by merchandising it in an eye catching and engaging fashion.
How much time will it take?
Our shops are open Monday to Saturday (some open on Sundays too), 9am to 5pm. You can volunteer the hours that suit you, but ideally we’ll need you to be available for at least 3 hours per week.

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, so most of the care that we provide is funded through fundraising and through our shops.
To help us to continue to provide the care that we do, we are looking for fun and enthusiastic volunteers to join us in our Tewkesbury Superstore. Our shops are exciting and dynamic, with no two days being the same. From our walk-in customers, to receiving donations, and everything in between

Prison-based volunteers are the backbone of Fine Cell Work (FCW). Supported by the Fine Cell Work programmes team and by other staff at the FCW office, they teach and administer FCW stitching groups in prisons.
Prison volunteers work in teams to organise classes and teach our stitchers, as well as providing groups information to the prison and to the FCW office. The precise mix of skills will vary from prison to prison.
Volunteering in prison for Fine Cell Work requires ideally a good level of needlework skill (or a willingness to learn), some teaching experience and/or experience of working with socially-excluded groups. Volunteers must be patient and non-judgemental in order to work effectively.
