The Learning Design Specialist at UK-Med is pivotal in enhancing the preparedness and competence of healthcare professionals for humanitarian emergency response initiatives.
The Learning Design Specialist focuses on efficiently designing and coordinating development of targeted training programs for both internal organisational audiences and external partners. The goal is to ensure that our Core Staff and a Register of approximately 1200 healthcare professionals worldwide are thoroughly equipped to provide exceptional care, leading to positive outcomes for the patients and communities we serve.
The Learning Design Specialist willinnovate and refine UK-Med's training content, ensuring it meets the specific needs of a diverse, global workforce. Expand the learning portfolio, incorporating digital, in-person, and simulation-based training tailored to strategic priorities. Establish and nurture partnerships to enhance our bespoke learning offerings, ensuring they meet the dynamic needs of our partners and maintain industry-leading standards.
The Learning Design Specialist will provide expert advice and support on designing effective learning solutions for external partners and conduct engaging and effective training sessions, both online and face-to-face, catering to the varied learning preferences and needs of the participants.
You will have a positive and flexible problem-solving approach and be willing, able, and ready to deploy to support all UK-Med programmes and projects.

- Work with the programme co-ordinator and additional administrative support to deliver the SLDP discernment process from initiation to completion at the moderation panel and the subsequent communication of outcomes and feedback. This will include serving on the panels, working with all key stakeholders associated with the discernment process and ensuring accurate information is provided and recorded across the entire process.
- Drive the approach and continual evolution for the SLDP programme ensuring the design, development and implementation of a high- quality L&D curriculum for the learning community.
- Shape, plan, schedule, implement and evaluate each element of the learning design including residential modules, mentoring, senior leadership and pilgrimage experiences and projects linked to the national vision and strategy of the Church of England.

Job summary
We are currently seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic Education Coordinator, passionate about community-based learning to join our small and friendly team. The Education Coordinator will be responsible for the delivery and development of all aspects of the work of the adult and family learning programme and will have the opportunity to develop other provision at the centre. Our adult learning programme supports over 250 local adults each year through a range of programmes designed to improve their English language, digital and maths skills and increase their employability and involvement in the community. Our family learning programme supports over 200 children with online after-school classes in Maths, English and Science. You would also be responsible for coordinating 6 teachers remotely to deliver weekly online after-school classes for Year 3 to Year 9 in all three subjects. We also deliver a range of informal family learning provision across our Family Programme services to over 1000 users, and some of these programmes may be included in our Adult Education offer and so you will be required to support with the administration of these activities.
The Education Coordinator will be based at our centre at 2 Thorpe Close W10 5XL and will have responsibility for working with the heads of departments, tutors and education administrator, to plan and deliver the learning programme. The successful candidate will have a full UK teaching qualification in the Further Education sector, and delivery of FSE/ESOL at various levels would be desirable; have excellent leadership and inter-personal skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; be highly organised and efficient.
The salary is £33,500 per annum and in addition to bank holidays we offer 25 days’ annual leave, additional Christmas time leave, a pension scheme, cycle to work scheme and a comprehensive training programme.
The employment is subject to a probational period of twenty-six weeks from your start date of employment with Nova, during which time you will be required to demonstrate to the leadership team’s satisfaction your suitability for the position in which you are employed.

About the role

The Internal Communication and Engagement Team is one of five teams within our Equity, Inclusion and Culture directorate and we’re responsible for delivering effective communication and engagement activity so that our people feel connected to our organisation and each other.
About the role
This is an exciting new role within our Internal Communications and Engagement team, reporting to the Head of Internal Communication and Engagement, you’ll be responsible for not only supporting Shelter in engaging people in our strategy and the work we do, but also helping to build and shape our organisational culture.
We’ll rely on you to contribute to the development of Shelter’s listening strategy as well as designing and managing a range of listening opportunities that can maximise upward communication. Working closely with stakeholders, you’ll evaluate effective employee engagement approaches, analysing and summarising staff feedback data to identify themes while making recommendations for action planning. Acting as a project manager for all of our employee engagement initiatives, you’ll proactively identify and address issues related to our employee engagement while providing the right solutions. You’ll also be working alongside our EIC Senior Leadership Team to help review Shelter’s culture and support the implementation of a culture development plan that not only integrates our core values but also builds a sense of belonging while embedding our commitment to anti-racism.
About you
You’ll have experience of designing and delivering internal communications and engagement plans, as well as being able to implement a range of techniques to engage diverse audiences in organisational change. You’ll know what drives engagement, how to nurture strengths and deliver areas for improvement. What’s more, you’ll have knowledge about developing and integrating organisational values and behaviours and you’ll have experience of implementing listening strategies, including managing a framework of tools to capture views.
You’re adept at developing excellent relationships and can interact effectively with diverse internal audiences. You’ll be confident in devising research, analysing data and creating summary reports. As well as having experience of managing projects and producing events, you’ll also have advanced digital skills and knowledge of tools to communicate effectively. A proactive problem-solver, you’ll be comfortable to use your initiative and really get stuck into your role.

To inspire people to take action on environmental issues, we want you to create engaging and impactful content on Facebook, X (formally known as Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, Threads, plus emerging platforms. In doing so, you’ll be expected to draw on all your knowledge of the unique features and best practices for each platform, and to develop your ability to create appealing, informative copy, video and images that resonate with our audiences.
As a core member of our Social Response Team, you will play a key part in developing and delivering rapid-response social media content based on the daily news cycle and major events. You’ll also work with our video production team to produce high-quality videos that showcase the organisation's environmental campaigns and initiatives.
Location: Islington, London. Our hybrid working model enables us to enjoy the benefits of both office based and remote working. We ask that staff work from the office in Islington 40% of their time, with 20% required as a minimum. What we're looking for:
- Proven experience creating engaging and evolving social media content across multiple platforms, including Facebook, X (formally known as Twitter), Instagram and TikTok.
- Experience analysing and responding to opportunities in the news cycle to push key messages and drive engagement – ideally on the environment and politics.
- Ability to conceptualise and produce rapid response videos that resonate with target audiences to drive engagement – ideally including presenting on-camera.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, with the ability to craft compelling captions, video scripts and talking points.
- Ability to analyse and draw insights from metrics and apply to future content.
- Understanding of how Greenpeace’s anti-racism commitments and the broader principles of justice, equity, diversity, inclusion and safety apply to social media.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, particularly during campaign launches or events – plus willingness to travel occasionally.
