The Role

We are looking for a talented Senior Regional Fundraiser to support the fundraising team by generating income, maximising opportunities and building relationships within the Yorkshire community. Duties will include:

• Leading on the development of the community fundraising strategy
• Working collaboratively with the fundraising team to achieve targets through shared fundraising activities
• To proactively engage with the families Candlelighters support, community groups, schools and local businesses
• To develop excellent fundraising relationships by providing appropriate levels of stewardship and support to donors
• Delivering presentations and attending third party events where appropriate

The Person

To be considered for this fabulous role you should have experience of community fundraising and meeting fundraising targets. You will have excellent presentation skills and be confident with public speaking. With an ability and desire to build and nurture relationships in various scenarios, you will be confident delivering effective fundraising campaigns and events.

Knowledge of using a CRM database and experience of developing budgets & fundraising plans is essential. It is key that you have the ability to work independently and perhaps most importantly that you are able to remain positive, resilient and flexible when dealing with change. A knowledge of local networks would also be desirable.

Main Responsibilities

As one of our regionally dispersed Community Fundraiser's, you'll be joining a busy team, where you will manage relationships with our key supporters with the primary purpose of generating income across a geographical area, through community fundraising activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering income targets across the region by building strong relationships with individuals, local companies, community groups and volunteers, in line with our community fundraising strategy. You will also be responsible for the management and support of local third-party events in your region and in providing excellent stewardship to those supporters.

This role is home-based with regular travel across the region. There will also be regular travel to Diabetes UK offices for meetings.

Ideal Candidate

You'll be able to demonstrate a track record of meeting income targets through relationship fundraising. You'll be experienced in building and maintaining relationships with supporters and colleagues. A proactive person, you'll be self-motivated and able to work independently with a solution focussed approach. As an experienced fundraiser, you'll be confident working towards income and expenditure targets and reporting on financial progress. It is desirable that you have managed and secured corporate partnerships and have event management knowledge, though training will be provided.

You will have a passion for building excellent relationships with your supporters to increase loyalty and life-long relationships with the charity.

We’re looking for a creative Senior Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser, who wants to grow their existing experience of working with five and six figure asks to grow their skills by supporting the senior team with preparing compelling proposals to secure funding of 6 and 7 figure bids. The successful candidate will oversee the day to management of the charity, ensure effective fundraising activity, provide support for the Board of Trustees and facilitate the smooth running of the charity. The Baobab Centre is a non-residential therapeutic community that supports young asylum seekers and refugees who have experienced human rights abuses and have sought asylum in the UK as unaccompanied minors. Our two focus areas are rehabilitation and justice.

This is a unique opportunity for a passionate and experienced fundraiser to progress further in their career, with the freedom to creatively enhance and develop the fundraising strategy of an impactful community-based charity.

As Senior Fundraising Lead you will be Baobab’s key fundraiser and a self-starter with experience of working in a small or medium sized charity. You will lead on the development of fundraising at Baobab, exploring new avenues for funding, as well as nurturing and growing existing fundraising relationships. You will be responsible for strategising and carrying out a successful program of fundraising from small, medium and large charitable trusts and foundations to an agreed annual fundraising target. We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to develop and head up a newly formed Fundraising and Stewardship programme for a leading educational trust.

About the role

The Trusts and Corporate Fundraising Manager will be based at the head office in Bedfordshire but will work across the organisation supporting schools.

You will raise funds from Trusts, Foundations and Grant makers, as well as ground level fundraisers and events with corporate sponsors and the local community.

Reporting directly to the CFO, key responsibilities will be:

• Fundraising strategy
• Systems
• Income
• Manage and build key relationships
• Reporting

As Trusts and Corporate Fundraising Manager, you will have the following skills and experience:

• Previous experience in ideally both or one of Trusts and Foundations or Corporate Fundraising
• Ability to lead and manage workload effectively
• A liking, sympathy and respect for children and a sensitivity to their needs
• A willingness to travel between sites and to work in a hybrid environment

This role is responsible for supporting the growth, planning and delivery of KCLSU campaigning and organising activity ensuring that elected officers, Academic Associations, Networks and students are enabled and empowered to create strategic, member-led campaigns. Support our members to develop, shape and deliver their agenda, providing advice, coaching and guidance on how to develop impactful campaigns and projects. Work as part of the Student Voice Team to embed campaigning and organising across all areas of our work ensuring that students from every segment of the membership are empowered to make change through campaigns. Enable our communities (Academic Associations, Liberation Networks and Student Representatives) to grow and develop into effective representative bodies.

Responsibilities include:

Growing, planning & delivering KCLSU campaigns

• Provide resources, support and mentoring to student officers and student campaigners, utilising digital and offline organising models of engagement, to support them to develop hard-hitting and effective campaigns.
• Coordinate and work with KCLSU teams to support representatives and members in delivering their campaigns and communicate the impact of campaigning at KCLSU, building interest and recruiting new activists as a result.
• Deliver a range of approaches to student voice engagement, developing diverse methods of participation and innovative practices for facilitating student decision-making, co-creation, and capturing insight.
• Work with external organisations to lead on KCLSU involvement in local, national and NUS campaigns.
• Responsible for measuring and reporting the impact of our campaigns.

Developing Student Representative Communities

• Support Networks, Academic Associations and Campaign groups on-going growth and development, supporting them to build inclusive, active, and intersectional student-led communities.
• Engage with representatives through coaching, building relationships and providing support as they develop and deliver their campaigning and organising agenda.
• Ensure participation in representation is accessible and inclusive, identifying and removing barriers to engagement particularly for low participation groups.

Leadership Development

• Create and deliver training, guidance and ongoing support for Student Officers, Student Representatives and Academic Associations, equipping students with the knowledge and skills that enable them to thrive in their role and feel empowered to grow as community leaders.
• Build strong and nurturing relationships with student representatives and Academic Association leaders, coordinating effective engagement and regular contact with our members.
• Empower students – particularly those from low participation groups - to become student leaders and participate in KCLSU Elections.

A successful candidate will have:

Qualifications

• A good standard of education, ideally to graduate level or equivalent. (Desirable)

Experience

• Experience of working in a campaigning organisation or as a campaigner
• Experience of mentoring and coaching staff/elected representatives/volunteers
• Experience of working in successful partnerships with a range of stakeholders
• Experience recruiting and supporting volunteers
• Experience of facilitating and delivering training
• Experience/involvement working with a membership organisation (either as an employee, representative or trustee) (Desirable)
• Experience of working with young people/education or similar (Desirable)

Knowledge

• Knowledge of community-building techniques and how to increase participation
• Knowledge of various campaigning and lobbying techniques
• Knowledge of community organising techniques
• Knowledge of current issues affecting the higher education sector
• Understanding of underrepresentation in higher education/voluntary sector and how these groups are affected by structural inequality (Desirable)
• Good understanding of representation systems and practices (Desirable)

Skills

• Ability to build, enable and empower campaign teams and support others to do so.
• Ability to collaborate well with others and to use initiative and creativity to resolve problems
• Ability to motivate, coach and support others to enable their development
• Excellent planning, organisational and administrative skills, with a particular focus on attention to detail
