This is an exciting time to join the NHM’s Development team, as we are about to embark on a major capital campaign that is set to rejuvenate the Museum spaces and transform access to our collections. Alongside this we have secured investment from the UK Government to build a major new science and digitisation centre at the Thames Valley Science Park in collaboration with the University of Reading. The purpose-built centre will house much of the Museum's collection and will include laboratories, digitisation suites, collaborative research spaces, conservation labs and workspaces.

Job Summary

We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated fundraiser to join our successful team as we embark on a major capital campaign to raise £150m. Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, this role will be responsible for personally securing six and seven-figure gifts from High-Net-Worth Individuals.

The Senior Philanthropy Manger will work closely with the Head of Philanthropy, the Senior Principal Gifts Manager and the rest of the Philanthropy team, feeding into the overall strategy of high-value partnerships. They will manage a portfolio of funder accounts which deliver long term, high-value strategic partnerships as well as building new relationships.

The Senior Philanthropy Manager will also manage 2 roles – Patrons Manager and a Philanthropy Manager (HNWI and Legacies), with oversight of both the Patrons Programme and Legacy programme.

The Philanthropy team is growing and there will be substantial opportunity for professional development within a world-leading cultural organisation.

Main tasks and responsibilities

· Manage a portfolio of prospects, in the UK and abroad, capable of making six and seven-figure gifts.

· Raise income in line with agreed personal and team fundraising targets.

· Working closely with the whole Philanthropy team to coordinate on the overall strategy and targets for maximising philanthropic giving to the NHM.

· Manage a team of 3, which includes line management of a Patrons Manager and Philanthropy Manager (HNWI/Legacies), whilst motivating them to meet key objectives and targets within the overall Philanthropy team.

· Work alongside the Philanthropy team, Special Events team and Corporate team in the preparation of written donor proposals, donor stewardship and the planning and execution of events related to the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors.

· Work independently to plan and implement creative strategies to increase philanthropic gifts at the six and seven-figure level by creating bespoke cultivation and solicitation plans that utilise senior stakeholders effectively.

· Actively solicit funding personally, as well as plan solicitations for senior staff as appropriate.

· Build strong relationships and partner with key staff across NHM in line with our strategic ambitions.

· Prepare written briefings for senior management and with donors and prospective donors as well as follow up documentation and correspondence.

· Ensure full and timely records of all activity are kept on the database in adherence to set policies and procedures.

· Promote best practice in fundraising across the NHM.

Person Specification

Essential

· Significant fundraising or income generating experience and a proven track record of securing income at the six-figure+ level.

· Demonstrated success in managing a high value and diverse portfolio of major donors that include complex relationships (e.g. interests and relationships across a large organisation).

· Experience of working within a results-oriented environment, with a record of achieving personal KPIs and targets.

· Exceptional written communication skills with an ability to convey detailed or scientific information in a concise and engaging manner.  

· Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills and with proven experience of managing or liaising with either clients, customers or charity donors.

· Proven experience of cross-team working and liaising with multiple stakeholders.

· Good understanding of the process of fundraising.

· Excellent administration and organisation skills, demonstrating the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines whilst working under pressure.  

· Ability to work well as a member of a team as well as on own initiative.

· Ability to attend early morning and evening events as required, acting as an ambassador for the Natural History Museum.

Desirable

· A demonstrable track-record in securing and managing funding from high-net-worth individuals.

· Management experience.

· Experience of working with a fundraising / CRM system.

· Experience carrying out research to a brief (preferably fundraising research, including external research, such as giving history and funding priorities, and internal research, such as gathering figures, statistics and information).

· Knowledge of and an interest in natural history, science, environmental and/or the cultural sector.

As Head of Development, you will be a key member of a small team. Reporting to the incoming Chief Executive, you will develop and implement the preexisting fundraising strategy and guide the organisation’s communications and PR strategy. Community Fundraisers are remote/hybrid based, with some presence expected at your local office or Hospice. About the charity: Cavernomas look like raspberries and are found in the brain and spinal cord.  They're formed of abnormal blood vessels with thin leaky walls, which can bleed at any age without warning.  1 in 625 people are thought to have a cavernoma, and whilst most people won't experience symptoms 1 in 2,700 do.  Symptoms can include haemorrhages, seizures and other neurological problems.  Treatment involves 'wait and see', neurosurgery or stereotactic radiosurgery; with no medications currently available.

Cavernoma Alliance UK (CAUK) is a member-led organisation, run by and for those impacted by cavernoma with more information available on our website. We work from a model of empowerment, recognising the value of our members’ lived experience to provide mutual support, improve standards of care and drive research into finding a cure.

Since the charity was founded in 2005 it has grown from a volunteer-led organisation based in Dorchester to a UK wide registered charity that now has 2 part-time permanent staff, looking to increase to 4 Part-time staff (all home-based), 50+ volunteers, and 4,000+ members. Our support services include a helpline, buddying, counselling, online support groups, meet-ups, webinars, lectures, newsletter, leaflets, website and social media. 

About the roles: The Member Support Assistant is responsible for assisting our Volunteer Manager with administration relating to the support of the charity’s 4,000 members and volunteers.  This includes offering a professional service to members of CAUK, typically via phone, email, online, chat, or on occasion in person. The role involves supporting the membership and volunteering processes, ensuring all admin is accurate and up to date.  Over time the post-holder will be expected to build a good working knowledge of members and volunteers.  They will also be expected to develop strong communication skills, including active listening, alongside the ability to multitask, manage time and prioritise.

The Events and Office Assistant is responsible for assisting the Charity Manager with the administration of events alongside some general office activities for the charity.  This includes assisting with the organisation of the virtual Annual Conference, virtual Monthly Information Webinars, in-person Annual Snowdon Climb for Cavernoma, online Cavernoma Awareness Month activities, in-person Autumn Lecture, virtual Secret Santa, attendance by volunteers at external conferences, and any other events organised by CAUK.  As and when time permits in between events the post-holder will also assist with some general office activities, including posting t-shirts/fundraising packs to fundraisers and arranging Zoom meetings.

We are looking for a Senior Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser for an inspiring social welfare charity to support the Major Giving and Events Manager with the development and delivery of the charitys corporate partnerships programme with responsibility for account
managing Partners and developing a pipeline of new business.

This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days a week in the Hampshire office.

Lancashire Mind is a local charity working to prevent poor mental health. We support people experiencing common mental health conditions, such as anxiety and depression. The Fundraising Lead has oversight of our community, events and corporate fundraising, leading a small team of two Fundraisers to achieve annual objectives and develop and test new activities.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to bring their own ideas and creativity to work with the Head of Development and Fundraisers to grow the level of funds we raise through the generous support of local people and companies. We’re looking for someone who has experience in a similar role or with transferable skills. The ideal candidate will have experience of working within the charity sector and knowledge of different methods of fundraising, with the ability to foster relationships. You'll be confident, able to work autonomously and support and motivate others to achieve shared and individual goals. The Philanthropy Manager is a key member of the Philanthropy & Partner Engagement Department within War Child’s award-winning Fundraising team. Working closely with the Philanthropy Lead (line manager) and Senior Philanthropy Manager, you will manage a portfolio of major donors at 5- and 6-figure level to support a team target of c£1.4M.

As Philanthropy Manager, you will: 

• Identify and qualify a pipeline for up to 6-figure gifts for both unrestricted and restricted giving
• Lead and be supported on building an excellent stewardship programme, supporting relationship managers across the team to deliver sector leading supporter journeys
• Develop and implement strong cultivation and solicitation plans for existing donors to generate significant income from the portfolio. This will include personal meetings, attending networking events, writing proposals/reports and making presentations
• Take an active role where relevant, on the planning and delivery of a diverse portfolio of philanthropy events, including events that are hosted by Ambassadors

Ideal skills and experience: 

• Experienced in a similar fundraising role, with a knowledge of major donor fundraising, ideally within an international development or humantarian NGO
• Ability to input into fundraising strategies with a track record of securing 4-5 figure gifts and delivering against targets
• Experienced in stewardship strategies for major donors or the development of supporter journeys in order to retain donors
• A relationship focussed approach with strong networking skills at senior levels internally and externally

The Fundraising Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing the bpf’s work and mission. This exciting opportunity would suit a fundraising professional with effective leadership, strategic thinking and analytical skills. Proven experience within the non-profit sector, with a broad range of fundraising skills and expertise, is essential. This role will suit someone who can roll their sleeves up and get the job done, as well as someone looking to take on a more strategic and project management role.

We have seen record breaking corporate partnerships income in the last two years and we want that growth to continue – but we know there are more opportunities than we can capitalise on with our team the size that it is. Your key responsibilities will be flexible. You’ll manage your workload and set objectives, priorities and deadlines with the Head of Fundraising. Your work will include: 

• Partnerships Fundraising: You’ll lead and grow our partnerships fundraising portfolio by nurturing existing relationships and identifying new prospective partnerships. You will prepare proposals, pitches, and reports based on key funding needs, and implement stewardship plans to retain support, maximising partnership value. 

• Community Fundraising: You’ll manage community-based fundraising efforts, including coordinating with other organisations. Develop new community fundraising initiatives and engage volunteers, working to maintain an established network of volunteers which support community fundraising activities.

• Events Fundraising: You will manage our fundraising events, including the London Marathon. This will include recruitment, resourcing, relationship-building and supporting our event participants in their fundraising efforts. We are also excited for you to develop and oversee other innovative and profitable one-off events. 

• Fundraising Management: You will monitor and report on fundraising activities, manage relevant website pages, and ensure effective administration and record-keeping. You’ll need to stay abreast of industry trends and react accordingly to maximize opportunities.
