Ataxia UK is looking for a skilled and dedicated Specialist Ataxia Nurse for our new community-based nursing service, focused on supporting individuals with ataxia in the South West of England. The role is a significant development in expanding access to expert and joined-up ataxia care for the ataxia community, particularly in regions currently underserved by neurologists with expertise in the ataxias.
As a Specialist Ataxia Nurse, you will provide personalised, face-to-face, and remote support to patients, assisting them in navigating the NHS and social care systems. Your responsibilities will include supporting patients during medical appointments, coordinating essential therapies such as physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy, and building strong relationships with healthcare professionals to enhance understanding and treatment of ataxia. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of resources and information for the ataxia community.
We are looking for an experienced nurse with a background in neurology or chronic disease management and a strong commitment to patient advocacy. The Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) works with affected communities to pursue innovative legal actions across borders to challenge states and other powerful actors involved in human rights violations and systemic injustice. Our actions address the most pressing instances of human rights concern and they fall within the following themes: War and occupation; accountability and supply chains; environmental and economic justice; and migration and border violence.
Since our establishment in 2016, we have developed legal strategies directly addressing human rights impacts in over 23 countries and territories. Our cases include the successful legal challenge against imports of cotton produced with forced labour in Xinjiang (East Turkistan) into the UK on behalf of World Uyghur Congress and the climate case against 32 European States before the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights, brought on behalf of six Portuguese youth-applicants.
More recently, we have supported the preeminent Palestinian human rights organisation Al Haq, to rapidly challenge UK weapons exports to Israel due to the risk of these arms being used in violations of international law.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Head of Strategic Communications at GLAN, you will spearhead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy that amplifies GLAN's mission and impact on a global scale.
You will lead the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of all communications efforts to enhance the organisation's brand, increase public awareness, and support advocacy and fundraising initiatives.

This is an exciting time to join GLAN. KEY RESPONSIBITIES
Communications Strategy
- Align cross-media communication strategies with thematic goals to maximise success across all initiatives. Develop campaign & advocacy communications which will influence change.

- Serve as a key member of the senior management team, contributing to strategic decision-making and organisational planning.

About the role
This is an awesome role focussed on improving our ways of working and processes when it comes to those who support us. We want all of our supporters to have a first class experience when they decide to donate their time and/or money to supporting children and young people with cancer and their families. However we know that as an organisation we have more to do to make this happen and the time is now.
Working in Income Generation, this role will take a recently conducted diagnostic carried out by a business improvement consultant and not only work through the next steps but make change happen, prioritising the areas with the biggest wins. This role really will have a lasting legacy in the organisation.
We're not just looking for someone to map change, this person will lead operational design and process re-engineering that transforms the Income Generation directorate and it's workforce into high achievers.
You’ll be based within the Project Management Office (PMO), a supportive team of professionals that lead transformational change across the organisation as well as corporate planning. You’ll also have close relationship with the Head of Planning and Strategy in Income Generation as well as the Associate Director Supporter Engagement.

What will I be doing?

- Building on the diagnostics carried out already within Income Generation directorate to optimise organisational design and scope improvements.
- Using the diagnostics to identify pain areas, develop a sequenced plan to tackle these issues and then implement the plan to improve performance, processes and services i.e. “getting hands dirty”.
- Embedding a culture of improvement in the organisation and developing these capabilities within the workforce.
- All of these activities will involve facilitating workshops, engaging audiences with tailored communications, debating and negotiating ideas with leaders, managing governance, risks and dependencies, evaluating progress etc.

About you
The successful candidate will be employed by the IUCN UK Peatland Programme’s host organisation. The new team member will be pivotal in the delivery of the Peatland Programme’s objectives to champion peatland values. You will lead the production of communications materials through design and appropriate messaging, assist their advocacy work, and plan and deliver events such as online workshops and their annual conference.

AAFDA was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.
Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown. Most of these families suffer significant problems including relationship breakdown, job difficulties/loss and mental and physical health issues. We help these families in many ways, our prime function being to provide families in England and Wales with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.
AAFDA (Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse) is a growing Charity and to meet the demands of this growth, we are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our team in a highly rewarding opportunity. Although home based, some travel will be required - frequency will be commensurate to the role. We welcome applications from candidates with experience of domestic abuse. - Support AAFDA in our bringing families together in AAFDA’s peer support events, such as the Hear Our Voice weekend and the on-line peer support Zoom sessions, where families can speak with others to share their experiences and stories. This will involve occasional evening work.

The key duties of this Head of Finance are as follows:

Assist in delivering training, and provide workshops, consultancy and advice to other agencies as required
You will need:
An understanding of the issues faced by young survivors experiencing domestic abuse
A good understanding of housing legislation and accommodation options for young people experiencing housing insecurity, including social housing, private rented, and emergency placement
A good understanding of risk assessment, safety planning & risk management for children and young people at risk of domestic abuse
An understanding of safeguarding issues & the legal responsibilities surrounding these
Experience of working within a multi-agency and legislative framework
Experience of managing a complex caseload, prioritising work and dealing with competing demands demonstrating an organised and methodical approach to work
Ability to deliver indvidualised safety and support plans, demonstrating sufficient knowledge of risk reduction regarding harmful practices and modern slavery
Ability to deliver training sessions to professional agencies
Understanding and knowledge of and active commitment to promoting equal opportunities and diversity
