Charity People is delighted to be supporting this incredible organisation to recruit for an interim part time Director of Communications and Marketing who will join the team at a key point; the charity's income has grown year on year since 2020 and they have a goal to increase that further by 2025 in order that they can meet increasing demand for their services.
The interim Director of Communications and Marketing will simultaneously oversee delivery of current plans and look to the future; putting in place structures, systems and processes to support a growing organisation and make the most of new opportunities as they arise.
Part time Director of Communications and Marketing
Contract: interim, 12 month role
Hours: Part time, 21 hours per week
Salary: £60,000 to £70,000 per annum FTE (pro-rata for 0.6 hour week to between £36,000 and £42,000)
Location: Hybrid - home based with at least one day per week in the charity HO in Wandsworth, South London

Key responsibilities within the role will include:
- Lead and oversee the development of communications and marketing plans which will underpin Back Up's 2030 strategy.
- Line manage a team of three to provide leadership, motivation, support and guidance to enable members of the team to perform to the best of their abilities and work effectively together.
- Upskill and develop the staff team so that they have the skills necessary to sustain communications and marketing over the longer term.
- Be a key advocate for change management in the organisation, supporting colleagues at all levels to upskill through the delivery of wider organisational change.
- Lead the strategic development and delivery of communications and marketing practice across the charity, and work with the Fundraising, Operations and Services Teams to deliver shared business objectives and Back Up's strategy
- Have overall responsibility for creative, brand and tone of voice guardianship, ensuring that the staff team and freelancers have the resources required to implement Back Up's brand effectively.
- Ensure the provision of adequate processes and skills in-house to tell the stories of people the organisation has supported and deliver high performing content across all channels.
- Develop and implement a digital marketing and website strategy
- Model a creative, ambitious and positive culture within the communications and marketing team championing core values.

Location: A mixture of home-based, office based (Prestatyn) and some time spent in colleges and schools across North Wales. The successful applicant must be either based in North Wales or able to travel there several times a week.
This is a new role in the organization and the successful applicant will help us to shape the role going forward. As an internship, the post is limited to one year and the successful candidate will be offered training to meet their development needs. This role will offer the successful applicant an opportunity to play an active role in this new project which aims to improve the experiences of adopted people in schools in North Wales whilst at the same time having opportunities to learn new skills and gain knowledge and understanding in areas which are of interest to them. Help will be given to transition from this role into future training or work.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE INTERNSHIP
To use your own lived experience to improve the educational experiences of young, adopted people across North Wales.
To work closely with the Adoption Alliance Lead Youth Worker to support the delivery of the project – for example by preparing training materials for schools, working with groups of young, adopted people, creating content for various online platforms.
To work closely with the Lead Education Officer to help deliver training to schools and colleges.
To gain experience and improve your own life chances as a result of working on this project.
To support you to develop digital content and resources which will be used in this project.
To support young people to create products that promote the purpose of the project which may include digital resources such as podcasts.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

About the Role
Could you be an integral part of the Bedford service by delivering support to individuals to improve their mental wellbeing, raises aspirations and increases confidence?
This role offers an exciting opportunity to join our Bedford Mental Health Prevention service for adults which aims to improve people’s mental wellbeing, raise aspirations and enhance confidence.
As a Recovery Worker you will be at the heart of the service, delivering all aspects of the service, building positive relationships with those using the service and strong links into the wider community resources that Bedford provides.
Service Delivery
You will deliver topic focussed, group wellbeing sessions along with facilitating drop-in, activity sessions that provide a safe environment for service users to talk openly and develop practical tools, techniques and coping strategies in order to manage their own wellbeing. Sessions will enable people to have a better understanding of their own mental health, what is needed to keep them well, and to engage in wider community activities, be socially active and develop aspirations in expanding their skills and ambitions.
You will also offer informal 1-2-1 support where needed, to offer guidance and information that reduces the chance that people will fall through gaps, be isolated and ensuring the right support and the right time that manages a range of needs.
In addition, you will assess individuals’ suitability for the service and signpost where necessary. There will also be opportunity to support events in the community to raise awareness of our services and build links with local organisations
You will need to be empathetic and deliver a person-centred approach in a non-judgemental way, collaborating with people to empower and engage them.

the3million is looking for a new Community Organiser to help us build the power of EU citizens in the UK and of their non-EU family members, working alongside two other Organisers in our team and the members of our EU Citizens’ Campaigns Network
Since Brexit, EU citizens in the UK and their family members have been brought under the Hostile Environment. the3million has been providing information to EU citizens and has continuously advocated for a fairer immigration system, especially in making the EU Settlement Scheme more accessible to all.
We provide a platform for EU citizens to become politically active and use their voices to advocate for themselves. The Community Organiser will be part of a team to create opportunities for EU citizens to have increased capacity to engage in activism and lead the change they want to see in the UK, their home.
This role is at an officer level and suitable for people who are looking for their first paid role in Organising, but have had some grassroots experience, even if on an informal or voluntary basis. You can expect to be mentored by an experienced Community Organiser and thereby learn a lot while on the job. More experienced candidates are also welcome to apply.We are currently in the process of applying for funding to extend this role. If we are successful, the contract will be extended by 2 years and we will work with the successful Organiser on a progression route, reviewing the job holder’s salary level after they have been in the role for 6 months.

**Duties and responsibilities **
1. Co-lead the3million’s “EU Citizens’ Campaigns Network”

Working with the Community Organiser - Campaigns to recruit more members of the EU Citizens’ Campaigns Network by regularly reaching out to relevant communities and booking 1-1 meetings with key community leaders;

Working with the Community Organiser - Campaigns to support and guide our existing Network members made up of over 40 community leaders who have a variety of backgrounds and levels of experience in campaigning, developing their confidence and ability to become effective change-makers and encouraging them to take coordinated, strategic actions to advance our campaigns;

Co-facilitate monthly Network meetings: setting agendas, facilitating Breakout rooms, taking minutes and following up with Network members on their agreed actions;

Support the3million’s campaigns by supporting our Head of Policy and Advocacy on our MP-facing work in Parliament and our Communications Manager to ensure that our campaigns are featured on our social media, newsletters and clearly communicated to key stakeholders such as partner organisations in the migration sector and to key community leaders on the ground
2. Relationship-building and in-person workshops

Rolling out a series of “listening sessions” and “Know Your Rights” workshops with community groups across the country: liaising with relevant community leaders to visit them and their communities, this may include working on Saturdays (and taking time off in lieu during the week) and running in-person sessions. You will receive guidance on the format from the Community Organiser - Campaigns but will be the main person delivering such sessions on the ground.
3. Professional learning and development

- provide a high quality administration service whilst being compassionate and non-judgemental responding to queries efficiently.
- manage a demanding workload and will need to be able to prioritise effectively and work in a methodical way.
You will need:
- Experience of carrying out a variety of administration tasks including writing letters, managing bookings and responding to internal and external queries in a professional way.

- Providing impartial careers advice, information and guidance to TACT young people and foster carers supporting them to prepare for leaving school, entering college, and considering which post 16 education pathway is appropriate for them.
- Working alongside TACT’s Advisory teachers, TACT Connect, CRWs, SSWs and carers to support young people cared for by TACT to engage in education, training, or employment post 16.

The majority of FitzRoy’s funding comes from statutory sources. Local authorities pay for the basic housing and support needs of the hundreds of people we support in supported living services, care homes, as well as in their own homes.
From a ground-breaking digital transformation programme, to assistive technology and home improvements and extensions, we rely on fundraising to transform our support, enabling us to provide the extras - that make a house a home, and a life well-lived and a person fulfilled.
FitzRoy was founded 60 years ago by two parents, Elizabeth Fitzroy and John Williams, who
pioneered a new way of caring for people with learning disabilities. At the time, most children and adults with learning disabilities lived a life of isolation, often ostracised from their communities and hidden away in institutions.
Our founders had an alternative vision – care in small, family style homes and where people with learning disabilities can flourish, living a life of independence and joy, and most importantly, the life they choose. Elizabeth Fitzroy and John Williams changed the face of social care to secure a future, not just for their children, but for generations to come.
Today, FitzRoy remains strongly rooted in the values and ethos of our founders. We are proud to support over 800 adults with a range of learning and physical disabilities and autism across more than 100 services in England. Through our registered care homes, supported living, support at home and day services, we are committed to breaking down barriers and raising the bar in standards of quality care for the people we support.
