Horsham Matters - Overview
Horsham Matters is a local Christian charity that works to prevent and relieve poverty throughout our district. We do this by the provision of essential services such as food, fuel and household goods, providing advice and guidance to households in need, and working with partners to address the root causes of poverty. Our work is funded by income generated through donated goods which can be sold in our shop or online, by grants and donations and through public fundraising.
Operations Manager
The Operations Manager is a critical role to ensure the smooth running of all our operations. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team with responsibility for leading a team of staff, volunteers and 3rd party contractors. You will strive to continually improve systems and procedures across the Charity whilst maximising opportunities to increase income.
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week), which will also require some weekend working (approx. 8 Saturdays/year).
Core Responsibilities:
Operational leadership:
· Line management of Logistics Team including performance management, building capability and training etc.
· Ensure smooth communication and excellent links across Charity buildings
· Ensure the optimal use of the vans for delivery, collections etc., including the planning of routes which are cost effective and time efficient
· Work with the Office Manager team to ensure that the needs of clients requiring household items are met by the Logistics team
· Work with the Store Manager to ensure that the Charity store is stocked appropriately, including arrangements for stock rotation
· Support volunteers to develop their role in the warehouse, providing clear instructions and setting expectations
· Liaise with third party contractors including removals firm, IT contractor and others as required
Safe environment
· Responsible for maintaining a safe environment at our Community Support Centre and other Charitable Activity venues; completing health and safety tasks
· Responsibility for all Horsham Matters buildings, ensuring effective maintenance and building related health and safety
· Ensure vehicles are safe and road worthy, ensuring essential maintenance takes place
· Fully participate and demonstrate best practice including the physical aspects of moving equipment and furniture, as well as driving the van and all other tasks across the logistics sector of the charity
· Ensure that items not suitable for sale are disposed of appropriately and in a timely manner to prevent health and safety issues arising
· Develop and continually review reuse and recycling ensuring that the Charity optimises reuse, as well as maximising revenue
Online sales
· Lead for on-line sales and all other sales avenues excluding our Charity shop (Love it Again) – including ensuring that items are collected, advertised sold and delivered appropriately and maximising gift aid opportunities with donors
· Provide excellent customer service to all members of the public
Additional Duties
· As a small charity, all employees are required to work together flexibly and collaboratively which may require undertaking different tasks on occasion as agreed with the Managing Director

The role

About the Role
A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to work as Mental Health IDVA co-located in Mental Health Services. As an MH IDVA you will provide immediate support for victim/survivors of abuse working with mental health including carrying out risk and needs assessments, safety planning and providing short-term support and onward referral. In addition, you will act as an domestic abuse and mental health lead for Solace in Barnet providing advice and guidance to Solace staff and mental health teams.
You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborating with external agencies in your work.
About You
We're looking for highly organised and self-motivated applicants who are passionate about ending VAWG and a solid understanding of how domestic or sexual violence against a parent can affect a child in the home. You will have a “can-do‟ approach, experience of working with families and demonstrable commitment to Solace’s feminist approach to supporting women and their children to be safer. You will receive training and support for this role as necessary.
Successful applicants will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on women and children, experience of providing emotional and practical support to victims of VAWG, and a strong understanding of housing options and legislation.
A relevant qualification in VAWG is desirable.

The Role
We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated Administrator to join a Finance team. You will have a pro-active approach and ‘can-do’ attitude, which will be key to fulfilling the following responsibilities:
- Providing administrative support to the Finance Department and IT function
- Assist in preparing and circulating agendas, minutes, and other papers to committee members, and accurately take and prepare minutes for review.

As a Hospital Independent Domestic Violence Advocate you will:
- Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.
- Provide a high-quality, front-line service to victims of domestic abuse, delivering a premium service prioritised according to risk, primarily focusing on victim/survivors aged 16+
- Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse.
- Be comfortable with running group training sessions and be willing and able to share your specialist knowledge with acute staff across the hospital.
- Have excellent communication skills, a proactive approach and the confidence to be able to influence the way in which this service is delivered are key.
Please note that the successful applicant will be required to sign an honorary contract with the Hospital Trust in addition to their contract of employment.
You will need:
- Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).
- Have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
- Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
- Understand safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
- Direct service delivery to victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.
- Have excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals. Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.
- Have a strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.

Due to their ongoing growth plans they are looking for a Finance Business Partner to join their organisation. This role is responsible for supporting effective financial management and reporting for projects and budget holders based within the Academy’s Finance Team. You will spend the majority of your time interacting with programme managers and budget holders to support on budgeting, forecasting, analysis of budget variances and provide regular finance reports to them, including monthly management accounts to ensure financial control and effective decision making
Key areas of responsibility:
- Lead on the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process including preparing budget templates for completion by budget holders, summaries of submissions for review and scrutiny and reconciliations of departmental budget submissions from draft to final.
- Work with Head of Finance to finalise the Academy budget for presenting to Director of Finance & Resources and the senior management team.
- Ensure that finalised forecasts and budgets are accurately imported into the accounting system and a full audit trail is maintained.
- Assist the Head of Finance and senior management team with the preparation of multi-year forecasts and models for bids and scenario planning.
- Working closely with budget holders, act as finance business partner and critical friend by challenging assumptions and broadening their financial thinking in order to objectively assess risk and ensure consistency across teams with financial inter-dependencies.
- Providing adhoc advice to budget holders and programme managers on financial matters and contract agreements.
- Monitor expenditure on restricted funded projects to ensure compliance with terms of funding arrangements, manage grant claims and income and expenditure recognition, and discuss any over/under spending with budget holders and flag to Head of Finance as appropriate.

About the role
Young Lives vs Cancer is seeking a highly skilled Media and PR leader to join them on a consultancy basis for a period of three months. The organisation has undertaken a significant piece of research in partnership with other leading children and young people cancer charities and through this research has been able to identify the areas where there are gaps in the system and in the support available to young people with cancer and their families.
The resulting is a vision that Young Lives vs Cancer, alongside partner organisations, wants the children and young people's cancer sector to own and work towards by 2035 and their new strategy has been designed to work towards this aim. Over the next three years the organisation will focus on building their capacity to guide others to work towards achieving that vision together.
As Media and PR Consultant you will lead on the development of a new media and PR strategy. Your role will include:
- Development of a Media and PR strategy
- Analysis of current media presence as well as of opportunities and challenges in the media landscape, informed by the organisational strategy
- Review of current Media Policy and internal relationships and processes, and to provide an overview of the foundations needed to launch an effective Media and PR strategy
- Review and advise on the future of interdependencies between the Media and PR team and other teams across the organisation
- Review of how media and press activity is captured and monitored
- Analysis of current approach to equipping and supporting young people and families to tell their stories in the media
- Development of an approach to establish a quality group of organisational spokespeople
- Identification of target media outlets and influencers
- Development of media messaging matrix and story angles which support organisational strategy
- Creation of a media content calendar and media outreach plan to support organisational strategy - and to dovetail with other communication calendars

This is an important and senior level role within Young Lives vs Cancer, joining at an important time for the organisation, and we're keen to hear from senior Media and PR leaders who have:
- Previously worked at a senior level, for example Associate Director / Director level within the charity space and who have experience of building new strategies to support organisational goal delivery;
